• How to get the sending email address from outlook 2007

  I am working on outlook add-in project using Visual studio 2008 for MS Outlook 2007 in C#. Here I am explaining my problem... I got multiple accounts (3 Accounts) with my outlook 2007. I need to get accounts form Account box in New Mail Message window. When we click New Mail Message, a new window will appear from which we can send a new mail. Here (On this window) we can see Account Dropdown (Left side) under the Send Button. If we have multiple accounts with outlook, we can see all the accounts in Account Drop Down if we click on Account Box. If we click on the particular email, a right mark will appear to that Email Account and a message can bee seen on the top of the Send button is "This message will be sent via [email protected]". So, I want to get these email accounts into a string and that particular email account (which has right mark) into another string. I got these 3 email accounts into a string. But, I am not getting the particular email account(which has the right mark when we send a new email).   Is it possible to write an XML Schema that describes an XML document that lists a set of elements and then requires other elements on that same XML document to use those values as either attributes and/or sub-elements? • Is there a programming toolkit for converting "any file type" to a TIFF image?

  Hello, I've written several variations of a program. The purpose of the program is to convert "any file type" to a TIFF image represenation of that file, as if it were being printed using a printer. I'm currently using a third party printer driver that I send files to, and it outputs a TIFF image. This is nice, but it requires me to use Office Interop files, and interact with each individual processing application in order to print the files. I had previously tried a toolkit, called Apose .NET, which did not rely on Office Interop, and did not require any printer driver. It did the conversion all on its own and would create a TIFF image. The problem with Aspose .NET was that it did not support a wide variety of input file types. Most notably, it can't do Visio files. My project calls for the ability to create a TIFF image for virtually "any file type". (excluding exes, music files, and stuff) I know that finding something that handles literally any file type is probably not a very feasible task, so I figure if it can at least handle all the Office file types, Adobe types, and other major standard file types, then I can write a custom extension parsing module that uses those processing applications to do the printing of any file type that can be viewed using those applications. So, does anyone know of a toolkit that can do this? Preferably one that does not rely on Office or a printer driver. It does not have to be free, or open source. Or, if you know of an amazing printer driver that does this, I'm open to that too. Thanks in advance, Ryan

• Most efficient way to write over file after reading

  I'm reading in some data from a file, manipulating it, and then overwriting it to the same file. Until now, I've been doing it like so: open (my $inFile, $file) or die "Could not open $file: $!"; $retString .= join ('', <$inFile>); ... close ($inFile); open (my $outFile, $file) or die "Could not open $file: $!"; print $outFile, $retString; close ($inFile); However I realized I can just use the truncate function and open the file for read/write: open (my $inFile, '+<', $file) or die "Could not open $file: $!"; $retString .= join ('', <$inFile>); ... truncate $inFile, 0; print $inFile $retString; close ($inFile); I don't see any examples of this anywhere. It seems to work well, but am I doing it correctly? Is there a better way to do this?

• Reload images in a UIWebView after they have been downloaded by a background thread

  I have an application that frequently checks in with a server and downloads a batch of articles to the iphone. The articles are in html and just stored using core data. An article has 0-n images on the page. Downloading all associated images at the same time as the text will be too slow and take too much bandwidth. Users are not likely to open every article. If they open an article once it is likely they will open it several times. So I want to download and store the images locally when they are needed. These articles are listed in a UITableView. When you tap an article you pop open a UIWebView that displays the article. I have a function that checks if I have downloaded the images associated with the article already. If I have I just pop open the the UIWebView - everything works fine. If I don't have the images downloaded I go off and download them and store them to my Documents directory. Although this i working, the app is hanging while the images are downloading. Not very tidy. I want the article to open in a snap and download the images with the article open. So what I've done is I check if the images are downloaded, if they aren't I go ahead and just "touch" the files I need and load the webview. The UIWebView opens up but the images referenced contain no data. Then in a background thread I download the images and overwrite the "dummy" ones. This will save the images and everything but it won't reload the images in my current UIWebView. I have to go back out of the article back back in again to see the images. Are there any ways around this? reloading just an image in a UIWebView?

• Importing Excel spreadsheet data into existing Access DB

  I've designed an Access 2003 DB with 3 tables: APPLICATIONS, SERVERS, and INSTALLATIONS. Records in the APPLICATIONS and SERVERS tables are uniquely identified by a synthetic primary key (in Access, an "auto number"). The INSTALLATIONS table is essentially a mapping table between APPLICATIONS and SERVERS: it's a list of records of which applications are installed on which servers. A record in the INSTALLATIONS table is also identified by a synthetic primary key, and it consists of an APPLICATION_ID and SERVER_ID for the records in their respective tables. I have an Excel 2003 spreadsheet I would like to import into this database, but it's proving difficult. The spreadsheet is made up of several tabs/worksheets, each one representing a server with its own listing of installed applications. I'm not sure how to proceed with an import - the "Get External Data -- Import" feature in Access has an import "In an Existing Table" option, but it's greyed out. I'm also unsure how I build the relationships between applications and servers for importing records into the INSTALLATIONS table. I had previously fooled around with adding some security to the Access DB file. I think I removed everything but perhaps I didn't and that's causing the problem? • Reduce file size for charts pasted from excel into word

  I have been creating reports by copying some charts and data from an excel document into a word document. I am pasting into a content control, so i use ChartObject.CopyPicture in excel and ContentControl.Range.Paste in word. Next cc End With Creating these reports using Office 2007 yielded files that were around 6MB, but creating them (using the same worksheet and document) in Office 2010 yields a file that is around 10 times as large. After unzipping the docx, I found that the extra size comes from emf files that correspond to charts that are pasted in using VBA. Where they range from 360 to 900 KB before, they are 5-18 MB. And the graphics are not visibly better. I am able to CopyPicture with the format xlBitmap, and while that is somewhat smaller, it is larger than the emf generated by Office 2007 and noticeably poorer quality. Are there any other options for reducing the file size? Ideally, I would like to produce a file with the same resolution for the charts as I did using Office 2007. Is there any way that uses VBA only (without modifying the charts in the spreadsheet)?

• Perl Capture and Modify STDERR before it prints to a file

  I have a perl script which performs multiple external commands and prints the outputs from STDERR and STDOUT to a logfile along with a series of my own print statements to act as documentation on the process. My problem is that the STDERR repeats ~identical prints as example below. • Web pages that a long time to load keep on reloading, just on vista on my work n/w...

  I have a curious problem at work which I've been struggling with since the advent of Windows Vista. We send our own email newsletter out to 40,000+ people once a week. The sending code has been in place for years, it's in classic ASP/VBscript called through a browser and simply loops through each email address, sending it to them. The page takes 40 mins or more to run, so has a big timeout value to allow it to do so. All well and good, suddenly, after Windows Vista is installed on the work PCs, the email sending page behaved oddly - after a period of time it seems to reload the page, endlessly, so the first 20% of our users get multiple copies of the newsletter until we kill the process! If we run the code on an XP machine in the on the same office network, it works fine. If we run it on Vista outside the office, so, say, on my own ISP, then it also works fine! Note, same effect in IE and FF... So, something about my office network and Vista is causing this... I recently re-wrote the newsletter code so it would split the task into chunks of 100 users at a time, hoping this would fix it, but my most recent test shows that the office n/w vista machine once again reloads the same page over any over, even though it takes 1/10th of the time to run... Does anyone have any ideas what it might be, how I can prove it, or, better, how I can get round it? Thanks for your advice :)

• Integrating Oracle Hyperion Smart View Data Queries with MS Word and Power Point

  Untitled Document table { border: thin solid; } Most Smart View users probably appreciate that they can use just one add-in to access data from the different sources they might work with, like Oracle Essbase, Oracle Hyperion Planning, Oracle Hyperion Financial Management and others. But not all of them are aware of the options to integrate data analyses not only in Excel, but also in MS Word or Power Point. While in the past, copying and pasting single numbers or tables from a recent analysis in Excel made the pasted content a static snapshot, copying so called Data Points now creates dynamic, updateable references to the data source. It also provides additional nice features, which can make life easier and less stressful for Smart View users. So, how does this option work: after building an ad-hoc analysis with Smart View as usual in an Excel worksheet, any area including data cells/numbers from the database can be highlighted in order to copy data points - even single data cells only.   TIP It is not necessary to highlight and copy the row or column descriptions   Next from the Smart View ribbon select Copy Data Point. Then transfer to the Word or Power Point document into which the selected content should be copied. Note that in these Office programs you will find a menu item Smart View;from it select the Paste Data Point icon. The copied details from the Excel report will be pasted, but showing #NEED_REFRESH in the data cells instead of the original numbers. =After clicking the Refresh icon on the Smart View menu the data will be retrieved and displayed. (Maybe at that moment a login window pops up and you need to provide your credentials.) It works in the same way if you just copy one single number without any row or column descriptions, for example in order to incorporate it into a continuous text: Before refresh: After refresh: From now on for any subsequent updates of the data shown in your documents you only need to refresh data by clicking the Refresh button on the Smart View menu, without copying and pasting the context or content again. As you might realize, trying out this feature on your own, there won’t be any Point of View shown in the Office document. Also you have seen in the example, where only a single data cell was copied, that there aren’t any member names or row/column descriptions copied, which are usually required in an ad-hoc report in order to exactly define where data comes from or how data is queried from the source. Well, these definitions are not visible, but they are transferred to the Word or Power Point document as well. They are stored in the background for each individual data cell copied and can be made visible by double-clicking the data cell as shown in the following screen shot (but which is taken from another context).   So for each cell/number the complete connection information is stored along with the exact member/cell intersection from the database. And that’s not all: you have the chance now to exchange the members originally selected in the Point of View (POV) in the Excel report. Remember, at that time we had the following selection:   By selecting the Manage POV option from the Smart View meny in Word or Power Point…   … the following POV Manager – Queries window opens:   You can now change your selection for each dimension from the original POV by either double-clicking the dimension member in the lower right box under POV: or by selecting the Member Selector icon on the top right hand side of the window. After confirming your changes you need to refresh your document again. Be aware, that this will update all (!) numbers taken from one and the same original Excel sheet, even if they appear in different locations in your Office document, reflecting your recent changes in the POV. TIP Build your original report already in a way that dimensions you might want to change from within Word or Power Point are placed in the POV. And there is another really nice feature I wouldn’t like to miss mentioning: Using Dynamic Data Points in the way described above, you will never miss or need to search again for your original Excel sheet from which values were taken and copied as data points into an Office document. Because from even only one single data cell Smart View is able to recreate the entire original report content with just a few clicks: Select one of the numbers from within your Word or Power Point document by double-clicking.   Then select the Visualize in Excel option from the Smart View menu. Excel will open and Smart View will rebuild the entire original report, including POV settings, and retrieve all data from the most recent actual state of the database. (It might be necessary to provide your credentials before data is displayed.) However, in order to make this work, an active online connection to your databases on the server is necessary and at least read access to the retrieved data. But apart from this, your newly built Excel report is fully functional for ad-hoc analysis and can be used in the common way for drilling, pivoting and all the other known functions and features. So far about embedding Dynamic Data Points into Office documents and linking them back into Excel worksheets. You can apply this in the described way with ad-hoc analyses directly on Essbase databases or using Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Financial Management ad-hoc web forms. • X11 performance problem after upgrading from Centos3 to Centos5 with an ATI Rage XL

  After upgrading a computer from Centos3 to Centos5 an application that does a lot of scrolling took a very high performance hit. top tells me that X is using a lot of CPU and that was not happening before. The machine has an ATI Rage XL with 8MB and X is using the ati driver as there is no proprietary ATI driver for this board on linux.   I have been working on configuring my mail server for the last couple of weeks using postfix, dovecot, and mysql. I have one virtual domain and a few virtual mailboxes. Using squirrelmail I have been able to log into my accounts and send emails out (e.g. I can send to googlemail just fine), however I am not able to receive any emails--not from the outside world nor from within my own network. I am able to telnet in using localhost, my private ip, and my public ip on port 25 without any problems (I've tried it from the server itself and from another computer on my network). • Unicenter Software Delivery 4 not able to connect to MS SQL 2000 Database after W2003 SP2 upgrade

  Hello Everyone Yesterday I installed the Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 on a Windows Server 2003 which has Unicenter Software Delivery 4 installed. Prior to the installation I disabled every CA service on the server (Brightstor, SDO , RCO, TNG) and the MS SQL 2000 service. After the installation of the SP2 I enabled the services again but the Unicenter Service is not able to connect to the MS SQL 2000 Database anymore. The database itself is up and running and I can connect to it with the Enterprise Manager. A dbcc checkdb doesnt return any errors on the Unicenter database. • Why can't I specify the executable that opens file with extension on windows?

  I am on windows server 2003, but I guess it is the same on windows xp. This is a superuser question, because it is definitly desktop, so do not move or close it. Question: I copied some movable applications (usually people create them for usb sticks) to locations like c:\bin\app1\app1.exe app1.exe can open files of type *.ap1 When I rightclick file.ap1 and choose "open with ..." the "Open with" dialog appears. But it is not working how I expect in this situation. I can choose c:\bin\app1\app1.exe with the "Browse" button, but: app1.exe will not appear in the dialog where I just choosed it in the programs list, like I am used to it after clicking OK on it in the browse dialog. app1.exe will not open it when I click ok in the "Open with" dialog, the application that was assigned until then will still open it What could be the reason? Edit: Additional Information: my account is member of the administrators group I just changed the permissions of the folder c:\bin\app1\ and made sure that the group "Administrators" has all rights. I also inherited this manually to all subfodlers and subfiles.

• X11 performance problem after upgrading from Centos3 to Centos5 with an ATI Rage XL

  After upgrading a computer from Centos3 to Centos5 an application that does a lot of scrolling took a very high performance hit. top tells me that X is using a lot of CPU and that was not happening before. The machine has an ATI Rage XL with 8MB and X is using the ati driver as there is no proprietary ATI driver for this board on linux.
