• Google analytics and 301 redirects

  We have a multi language website and the first page redirects to specific language page using 301 redirect based on some logic. For exmaple: http://mysite.com/ redirects to http://mysite.com/en/ The problem is that these redirects destroy the primary request so we do not get correct results for traffic sources in GA. How do you handle this case? Is there something that we can do? Any ideas will be appreciated

Could you please guide me how I can fix HTML files' icons when FF3.6 is my default browser? Thanks. P.S: Whenever I set IE8 as my default browser the HTML files' icons were fixed.

• How to import a pdf in libreoffice? under ubuntu, all pages are blank

  I have some .pdf generated by a scanner, that I want to import in LibreOffice and do some small editing. The PDF has only one object per page, a page-size image. If I open it in LibreOffice under Ubuntu 12.10, it imports "successfully" but all pages are blank. I have the libreoffice-pdfimport package installed. That is true with both LibreOffice 3.6 (part of Ubuntu 12.10) and with 4.0.2, from libreoffice ppa. The same .pdf files open perfectly fine on both LibreOffice for Windows and LibreOffice for Mac (yes, I have three computers with all three OSes), but on Ubuntu 12.10, all pages are blank, so I can only conclude this is an issue with Ubuntu packaging, or something really weird prevents it from working under linux. How can I import these kinds of .pdf into LibreOffice for editing?

  I'm making a 'Pokémon Storage System' with a Client/Server model and as part of that I was thinking of storing an inventory file on the users computer which I do not wish to be edited except by my program. An alternative to this would be to instead to store the inventory file on the server and control it's editing by sending commands to the server but I was wondering if there are any situations which require files to be stored on a users computer where editing would be undesirable and if so how do you protect the files? I was thinking AES with some sort of checksum?

• How can I edit/create new launcher items in Unity?

  Will Unity allow making custom launcher icons from .desktop files or via menu editing system? (Right now the launcher doesn't give the option to "keep in launcher" on all programs. For some programs I use, I have to make custom launchers or .desktop files. For instance, daily blender builds are generally just folders with an executable. In basic gnome or kde, I can make a new menu entry with the menu editing system. Then, I can also add it to docky either from the menu or by dragging a .desktop file to it. Unity launcher doesn't support drag and drop, so thats not a bug or anything, but when i open a .desktop file, it has unpredictable results. Most time it will not have"keep in launcher". Sometime it will have a pinnable item without the .desktop's icon, and if i pin the item to the launcher, it will not call upon the program again after closing it. I've also gotten it to just work with a .desktop file for "celtx".

Is that right? And what is the difference between a "basic datatype" and "built-in datatype". Wikipedia says a primitive datatype is either of the two. PS - Why is "string" type considered as a primitive type in SNOBOL4 and not in Java ?

• How to make routes on a windows 7 laptop persistent?

  I have a number of (windows 7) laptops that normally connect via wireless. We also have a wired network for special purposes. When one of these laptops plugs in to the wired network, at the moment, it makes the wired network the default route. Instead, I would like it to keep the wireless network the default, and route only 10...* through the wired. I can achieve this with: route delete 0.0.0.0 IF 22 route add 10.0.0.0 ... IF 22 (where IF 22 is the wired network interface). But how can I get this to stick? Currently, if the wired network is unplugged then re-plugged, it grabs the default route again. So I want a way of making the wireless network not get the default route, and to make the 10...* network persistent. Is there a hook to run commands after a network connection is established in windows? In linux I would use post-up hooks.

I have a builtin analog soundcard which works just fine and is set as default, also i have a usb headset which works fine eg. with mumble i set input and output on my headset and it just works, also the mute button and volume control on the headset works, but on the default soundcard lol. what i am missing is to set my headset as the default soudcard. i also tried some stuff from there: http://wiki.debian.org/ALSA/ but it seems that alsa is not supported 100% :( some1 here to help? best regards

But when I think of web frameworks(I do mostly PHP) - like Cake, CI, Symfony, Laravel, Zend, Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress, Rails, Django, etc - I'm like god no. Why aren't there web frameworks that provide me with simple, fun and powerful constructs like a programming language?

  we have set up a small IPv6 Testing network. The setup looks like this: ::/0 +----------+ | Firewall | Router to the public net +----------+ | 2001:...::/106 | +----------+ +-------| SIT GW | sit Tunnel gatway to the some test users | +----------+ | +----------+ | Test Sys | Testsystem +----------+ The idea is to advertise the default route from the firewall and the route for the SIT subnets from the sit gateway. The configurations for radvd are: # Firewall interface eth0 { AdvSendAdvert on; route ::/0 { }; }; # SIT Gatway interface eth0 { AdvSendAdvert on; route 2001:...::/106 { }; }; We have captured the adv. packages with tcpdump and the packages looks good. We see a default route from the fw, and the subnet route from the SIT gatway. But if we look on the testsystem there are two default routes over both gateways. There is no subnet route. The routing does not work of course. I also searched all files and folders arround (Default user, All users...etc). There is only one win user.

• How do I set command line mode vga=788 permanently?

  I have a problem that is not of easy resolution, happen to tell... I have Installed Ubuntu 10.10 Server. I want to join to the system way vga=788, into the grub it changes without any problem editing the file grub.cfg, the problem is that editing the above mentioned file I join to the system way vga=788 (800x600) and then command line puts itself in way vga=792 (1280x1024). Is there any way of changing this configuration so that it is always vga=788? tanks. sorry for my english :D

If I remove this configuration and I use this another one all works good (but not in the /munin/ directory): server { server_name ipoftheserver; root /var/cache/munin/www/; location / { index index.html; access_log off; } } How to fix?   The problem is that when I ssh to my host with putty and enter user name, after that the password prompt delays. Found this is directly related to my iptables and can solve by changing default policy to ACCEPT. If default INPUT policy is ACCEPT, then password prompt is coming immediately. The only rule in this case is: -A INPUT -i eth1 -m mac --mac-source 00:26:XX:XX:XX:XX -j ACCEPT 00:26:XX:XX:XX:XX is the mac address from which I am trying to ssh to server's LAN(eth1). I'm sure there has to be some rule, which I can use while default INPUT chain policy is DENY in order to get password prompt immediately. I realize that the error message in the log is something normal and part of some verification procedure.

  I have to say that in most of my time as a network engineer I have had the opportunity to play with servers, but mostly it's been to put our management software on, and that was about it. I have been a Systems Network Engineer for about three months now, and as such I have been respnosible for the configuration of our test devices... this being said, I have had to start working through how to configure and apply such things as GPO through a new forest, domain and OU. This being said I have configured about three different GPO's and applied them to different locations. The first laptop that I brought into the domain took the default Domain group Policy... this was cool, I got excited... then When I tried to bring in the second Laptop, it didn't take the policy. I looked at the configuration, and the default domain policy was applied to domain computers, however since the laptop resides in the SBS Computers of the OU that was created, SBS created individual policies for XP and Vista for that OU, which I was unaware of. So the default policy for that ou overrode the domain policy and none of the options that were defined in the Domain policy were applied... this being said, I am now working on putting the default Domain as an applicable policy in the OU, thus I won't have to reconfigure another policy to mirror the Domain Policy... here goes nothing!!!....
