  • Introducing the New Boot Framework in CE 7

    CE 7 introduces a new boot loader framework, BLDR (platform\common\src\common\bldr\). Some people like its powerful and flexbility, others may feel its too complicate as a boot loader framework. Despite to the favor, it is already there; so let's take a look at its features. Unlike the previous BL framwork (CE7 still provides it in platform\common\src\common\boot\) is a monolithic library, the new framework has more architecture structure. It not only defines main body but also provides rich components, such as filesystem (BinFS/FAT), download transportations, display, logging and block devices: bios INT13, FAL, IDE, Flash ( and etc. Note that in the block device category, the FAL is for legacy FMD/FAL, Flash is for latest MSFlash. Some of you may have encountered MSFlash MDD/PDD compatible partition is hard to created in bootloader and now it provides a clean solution! (Since this is a big topic, I will introduce it in future post) Today, I am going to show you some basic helper components - Image Loading functions. When OS image stored in the block device, it can be a file format, says your NK.BIN in the FAT volume or a RAW format, says the image is programmed to a BINFS partition. For the first one you can use BootFileSystemReadBinFile (platform\common\src\common\bldr\fileSystem\utils\fileSystemReadBinFile.c) and use BootBlockLoadBinFsImage (platform\common\src\common\bldr\block\utils\loadBinFs.c) to load from a partition. Need a sample code? No problem, the BootLoaderLoadOs in platform\cepc\src\boot\bldr\loados.c just provide a perfect example.

  • What Type of Options should be on the Game Settings Menu?

    I have seen a post about the main menu options here: UI: Main Menu options for mobile games. What options should be listed? What do users want to see? But I want to know what kind of options should/need to be available on the settings screen. I am making a rather simple 2D game for Android, but really I haven't found many aspects that warrant an options button or a check box besides turning the sound and music on/off. I was thinking graphics settings but then again, how many apps really need graphics settings besides immersive 3D ones?

  • NEON Intrinsic Support in CE7

    Just a side note for people who may be interested in creating high performance code to take advantage on NEON instruction set but wish to use NEON intrinsic instaed of coding assembly. Compiler won't generate NEON opcode unless application use the NEON intrinsic explicitly. Basically, you need ARMv7 build enviroment, so compiler can emit NEON opcode. Intrinsic prototype can be found in public\COMMON\sdk\inc\arm_neon.h and that is all you got. If you ever find an NEON opcode does not have corresponding intrinsic, you still need to use the old trick - write that part of code in assembly.

    Possible Duplicate: Only ‘sdb’ shows up when installing 12.04 on a new Dell inspiron 14z I am new to Linux and trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 on a new HP Pavilion DV6TQE Ivy Bridge and being presented with the below screen which I believe is incorrect. My disk is set up as a basic disk (not dynamic) and I tried with a single C:\ partition and by creating a second partition in windows with no luck. Any ideas? UPDATE: I think I know what the problem is but I don't know how to fix it yet.. My hard drive has a 32gb mSSD cache which is listed as dev/sdb. for some reason this is causing the installation trouble.

  • After updating debian lenny, ps stops recognising my users

    Since upgrading my debian lenny box with apt-get, ps seems to be behaving strangely, and also if i run top i see under the user column the ids, not the names. whoami => foo ps -U foo => ERROR: User name does not exist.     I'm setting up an nginx - apache reverse proxy where nginx handles the static files and apache the dynamic. I have a search engine and depending on search parameter I either directly forward the user to the page they are looking for or provide a set of search results. I cache these results in memcached as key:/search.cgi?q=foo value: LOCATION:http://www.example.com/foo.html and key:/search.cgi?q=bar value: CONTENT-TYPE: text/html <html> .... .... </html> I can pull the "Content-type...." values out of memcached using nginx and send them to the user, but I can't quite figure out how to handle a returned value like "Location..." Can I?

    I do not fully understand what am I asking (lol!), well, in the sense of if it is even possible, that is. If it isn't, sorry. Suppose I have a Java program. It has a Main and a JavaCalculator class. JavaCalculator has some basic functions like public int sum(int a,int b) { return a + b } Now suppose I have a ruby file. Called MyProgram.rb. MyProgram.rb may contain anything you could expect from a ruby program. Let us assume it contains the following: class RubyMain def initialize print "The sum of 5 with 3 is #{sum(5,3)}" end def sum(a,b) # <---------- Something will happen here end end rubyMain = RubyMain.new Good. Now then, you might already suspect what I want to do: I want to run my Java program I want it to execute the Ruby file MyProgram.rb When the Ruby program executes, it will create an instance of JavaCalculator, execute the sum function it has, get the value, and then print it. The ruby file has been executed successfully. The Java program closes. Note: The "create an instance of JavaCalculator" is not entirely necessary. I would be satisfied with just running a sum function from, say, the Main class. My question: is such possible? Can I run a Java program which internally executes a Ruby file which is capable of commanding the Java program to do certain things and get results? In the above example, the Ruby file asks the Java program to do a sum for it and give the result. This may sound ridiculous. I am new in this kind of thing (if it is possible, that is). WHY AM I ASKING THIS? I have a Java program, which is some kind of game engine. However, my target audience is a bunch of Ruby coders. I don't want to have them learn Java at all. So I figured that perhaps the Java program could simply offer the functionality (capacity to create windows, display sprites, play sounds...) and then, my audience can simply code with Ruby the logic, which basically justs asks my Java engine to do things like displaying sprites or playing sounds. That's when I though about asking this.

  • How do I become a programmer and not some guy that can type some C?

    From what I understand, programming has a lot more to it than learning syntax, that it involves an understanding of what happens under-the-hood and even more. Currently, I am just a guy that can pump out a few loops in Python or C and maybe make a small-scope Zork clone as the hight of skill. So, what can I do to become an actual programmer? How can I find out what I need to know and learn it? I know this has been vaguely asked before, but I kind of want an answer of how as opposed to the whats that I have seen. Would it be nice to know how real programmers define being a programmer? yes. Is that going to actually help me (or anyone else) learn what they need to learn? no. (well, maybe.)

  • Will these type of 403 errors affect my ranking?

    Let's say I have a directory that has a 403 forbidden error for all of the content in it, however a few of the images in the subdirectoies of the main diretory do NOT have a 403 forbidden error. Will this fact affect my ranking? For example: test.com/system/ (HAS 403 ERROR FOR ALL FILES) - test.com/system/pie/ (HAS 403 ERROR FOR ALL FILES) - test.com/system/pie/image.png (DOES NOT HAVE A 403 ERROR, AND THIS IMAGE IS EMBEDED ON A PAGE ON test.com e.g(test.com/pie/)) This sort of pattern repeats for about 10 different images. This directory is like a secret "system", however all of the content on the main site (test.com) is still accessible to everyone from the public.

  • Can I directly open an MMF Cash Drawer through RJ-11 port?

    My aunt bought this cash drawer at an auction recently and has tasked me with figuring how to open it via a computer. We have the key (pictured) and can open it manually, but I'd like to be able to plug it directly into a computer and open it via some sort of program or script. It has a built in rj-11 cord coming out of the back of it. Initial research shows that it might usually be used with a printer, but I want to be able to connect it directly to the computer.   • Is there a way to group 2 or 3 gui windows so that they don't get lost behind other open windows?

    For instance floating panels and main window in Gimp are independent windows. If I change focus to a full window (e.g. Firefox by doing Alt-Shift) and go back to the main Gimp window I don't get back the floating panels also (I have to change to them as well in order to see them). It would be great if the 3 windows can be "tied" (or linked) together in order that they don't get lost behind other open windows when I change back to (make active window) any of them? I think this configuration (if it exists) should show itself more obviously in the gnome environment. This question seems to address the same problem but it doesn't seem to be accurately answered.

    Cannot open the disk 'D:\My Documents\My Virtual Machines\Ubuntu\Ubuntu-1.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on. Reason: The physical disk is already in use. ====================== When I powered on my Ubuntu on VMwave, a window showed up within words above. I tried to remove the old hard disk in settings and created a new one, but it still doesnot work. Also, I tried to delete the .lck files and even the doc. BUT....... Has someone solved this problem?   • Why does gvim open session with extra/duplicate tabs?

    I'm running gvim, have 2 files open in 2 tabs. I save the current session via the sessionman plugin by Yuri Klubakov. I close gvim (or keep gvim open but close the session, doesn't matter). When I reopen gvim and load the session, I have 3 tabs opened - two of the tabs have the same file! This is not just limited to this single session. When I open some of my other sessions, gvim opens about twice the number of tabs that I expect it to. I disabled this plugin and tried another (session by Peter Odding), but I still get the same problem. Any idea what might be going on behind the scenes?

    I have been thinking how to create realistic sound for a car. The main sound is the engine, then all kind of wind, road and suspension sounds.     I use the Unity Revamped package for my Unity interface. I have noticed that, however, this behavior exists for any account on my computer, even guest, on BOTH the Revamped and the Canonical release of Unity. Here is a link to what it looks like, because it is hard to describe it. I don't know of anyone else who has this issue. I am running Unity 5.16 on Ubuntu 12.04. As an aside, I also have noticed this behavior with a fresh install of 12.10 Beta 1 on a separate partition.

    It doesn't matter what disk I use, it can not open the program. I keep getting the following error: Archive: /media/xxxxxxxx/INSTALL/_Setupa.exe [/media/xxxxxxxxxx/INSTALL/_Setupa.exe] End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive. zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /media/xxxxxx/INSTALL/_Setupa.exe or /media/xxxxxxxxx/INSTALL/_Setupa.exe.zip, and cannot find /media/xxxxxxxxx/INSTALL/_Setupa.exe.ZIP, period. Any ideas?

  • BusEnum2 and a Minor Bug Fix

    The default root bus driver, BusEnum, enumerate and active drivers one by one in synchronized manner. It is not only slowing the boot time but in the even if any of driver's init function (XXX_init) get hanged, the whole system won't boot at all. There is a sample of enhanced root bus driver, BusEnum2, on the http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd187254.aspx The page provides the sample code and the detail explanation of the design concept. With multi-threaded BusEnum2 on CE7 with SMP enabled system, the scalability is even more significant. Since you have more than one processor and it can load drivers in parallel! Everything looks good so far, except to there is a small bug in the sample code. Fortunately, it is easy to fix. But hard to trace if you ever enc outer it! The BUSENUM2 flag only defined in BUSENUM2\BUSDEF\sources but not in BUSENUM2\BUSENUM\sources. The DeviceFolder is implemented in BUSENUM2\BUSDEF but the instance is created in BUSENUM2\BUSENUM\busenum.cpp, so the result is it allocates less memory than actual need.   Add   CDEFINES=$(CDEFINES) -DBUSENUM2   into BUSENUM2\BUSENUM\sources and the problem fixed!

  • How come Win+R prompt can open Python when it's not in my path?

    When I use the run prompt in Windows XP Professional (Win+R), and type python.exe or python, it works and greets me with the python prompt. However, when I start a cmd window, and then type python.exe or python, it doesn't find it. This is what I expect, as the Python directory (for me, I:\Python31\) is not in my PATH. How come, then, that if I type python.exe in the Win+R prompt, it works? Edit: here is a partial output of SET, I removed most irrelevant entries, I'm not sure why is it useful, apart from the PATH variable which I already said doesn't include the Python directory.
