  • What is the best way to move a UIToolbar?

    - by Ferdinand Rios
Here is an interesting problem. On the iPhone, I have a view set up that has a toolbar on the bottom of the screen. I am currently trying to make this a universal app so that it runs on iPad as well. I would like the toolbar to be at the top of the iPad screen, so in the viewDidLoad method of the specific viewController I have the following code. if (UI_USER_INTERFACE_IDIOM() == UIUserInterfaceIdiomPad) { //move the toolbar to the top of the page and move the webview down by the height of the toolbar CGRect toolBarFrame = self.aToolBar.frame; CGRect webFrame = self.aWebView.frame; webFrame.origin.y = toolBarFrame.size.height; [self.aWebView setFrame:webFrame]; toolBarFrame.origin.y = 0; [self.aToolBar setFrame:toolBarFrame]; [Utils errorString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"origen: x=%f y=%f", self.aToolBar.frame.origin.x, self.aToolBar.frame.origin.y]]; [Utils errorString:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"origen: x=%f y=%f", self.aWebView.frame.origin.x, self.aWebView.frame.origin.y]]; } The problem I am having is that the webView moves down fine, but the toolbar only moves up to about what seems to be the height of a iPhone screen. The call to errorString tells me that the webView's origin is at 0,44 (where it should be) and that the toolbar's origin is at 0,0, but it is actually somewhere in the middle of the screen! Anybody have a clue what is going on here?

  • Ejabberd clustering problem with amazon EC2 server

    - by user353362
Hello Guys! I have been trying to install ejabberd server on Amazons EC2 instance. I am kinds a stuck at this step right now. I am following this guide: http://tdewolf.blogspot.com/2009/07/clustering-ejabberd-nodes-using-mnes... From the guide I have sucessfully completed the Set up First Node (on ejabberd1) part. But am stuck in part 4 of Set up Second Node (on ejabberd2) So all in all, I created the main node and am able to run the server on that node and access its admin console from then internet. In the second node I have installed ejabberd. But I am stuck at point 4 of setting up the node instruction presented in this blog (http://tdewolf.blogspot.com/2009/07/clustering-ejabberd-nodes-using-mnes...). I execute this command " erl -sname ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14 -mnesia dir '"/var/lib/ejabberd/"' -mnesia extra_db_nodes "['ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-02-C8-36']" -s mnesia " on the second server and get a crashing error: root@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14:/var/lib/ejabberd# erl -sname ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14 -mnesia dir '"/var/lib/ejabberd/"' -mnesia extra_db_nodes "['ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-02-C8-36']" -s mnesia {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},"Protocol: ~p: register error: ~p~n",["inet_tcp",{{badmatch,{error,duplicate_name}},[{inet_tcp_dist,listen,1},{net_kernel,start_protos,4},{net_kernel,start_protos,3},{net_kernel,init_node,2},{net_kernel,init,1},{gen_server,init_it,6},{proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3}]}]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},crash_report,[[{pid,<0.21.0},{registered_name,net_kernel},{error_info,{exit,{error,badarg},[{gen_server,init_it,6},{proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3}]}},{initial_call,{net_kernel,init,['Argument__1']}},{ancestors,[net_sup,kernel_sup,<0.8.0]},{messages,[]},{links,[#Port<0.52,<0.18.0]},{dictionary,[{longnames,false}]},{trap_exit,true},{status,running},{heap_size,610},{stack_size,23},{reductions,518}],[]]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},supervisor_report,[{supervisor,{local,net_sup}},{errorContext,start_error},{reason,{'EXIT',nodistribution}},{offender,[{pid,undefined},{name,net_kernel},{mfa,{net_kernel,start_link,[['ejabberd@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14',shortnames]]}},{restart_type,permanent},{shutdown,2000},{child_type,worker}]}]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},supervisor_report,[{supervisor,{local,kernel_sup}},{errorContext,start_error},{reason,shutdown},{offender,[{pid,undefined},{name,net_sup},{mfa,{erl_distribution,start_link,[]}},{restart_type,permanent},{shutdown,infinity},{child_type,supervisor}]}]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},crash_report,[[{pid,<0.7.0},{registered_name,[]},{error_info,{exit,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}},[{application_master,init,4},{proc_lib,init_p_do_apply,3}]}},{initial_call,{application_master,init,['Argument_1','Argument_2','Argument_3','Argument_4']}},{ancestors,[<0.6.0]},{messages,[{'EXIT',<0.8.0,normal}]},{links,[<0.6.0,<0.5.0]},{dictionary,[]},{trap_exit,true},{status,running},{heap_size,233},{stack_size,23},{reductions,123}],[]]} {error_logger,{{2010,5,28},{23,52,25}},std_info,[{application,kernel},{exited,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}}},{type,permanent}]} {"Kernel pid terminated",application_controller,"{application_start_failure,kernel,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}}}"} Crash dump was written to: erl_crash.dump Kernel pid terminated (application_controller) ({application_start_failure,kernel,{shutdown,{kernel,start,[normal,[]]}}}) root@domU-12-31-39-0F-7D-14:/var/lib/ejabberd# any idea what going on? • problem getting info from a cookie with javascript

    - by Jason
    I am having an issue with my cookies and I can't figure it out. Basically I have it set up so it checks for the cookie to see if the user is logged in, and then displays either a welcome message or a login link. It works - except that instead of returning the persons name in the welcome message it just is blank where the name should be. The cookie is there, with all the appropriate info.. not sure what I am doing wrong. var itm = new Array(); itm[0] = findCookie("ui"); if (itm[0] == null) { document.write("<h2><a href='logreg.html'>Log In or Sign Up</a></h2>"); } else { var c1 = itm[0].indexOf(","); var c2 = itm[0].indexOf(",",c1); var c3 = itm[0].indexOf(",",c2); var gname = itm[0].substring(c2,c3); document.write("<h2>Welcome "+gname+"!</h2>"); } The findCookie function is.. function findCookie(val){ var cookie = null; var findVal = val + "="; var dc = document.cookie; if (dc.length > 0) { var start = dc.indexOf(findVal); if (start >= 0) { start += findVal.length; lastVal = dc.indexOf(";", start); if (lastVal == -1) { lastVal = dc.length; } cookie = (dc.substring(start, lastVal)); } else { return cookie; } } return cookie; }

  • Frame Showing Problem

    - by Nitz
Hey Guys I have made one project which is showing the inventory of the stock of one store. In that inventory the software should store data of the products with their images. There is one problem... Bcz of the lots of stock, the screen on which is image is loading taking a lot of time. So, i thought i should give the frame in which there will be on label which will show the "Loading Software". But now when i am setting visible = true for that frame, but bcz of that images screen class loading problem my frame is not showing correctly. I have put screen shot, now my code. JFrame f; try{ f = new JFrame("This is a test"); f.setSize(300, 300); Container content = f.getContentPane(); content.setBackground(Color.white); content.setLayout(new FlowLayout()); JLabel jl = new JLabel(); jl.setText("Loading Please Wait...."); content.add(jl); f.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); f.setVisible(true); }catch(Exception e){ e.printStackTrace(); } initComponents(); try { addInverntory = new AddInventoryScreen(); showstock = new showStock(); // this class will take big time. mf = new mainForm(); f.setVisible(false); }catch (Exception ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } How Can show some message that, other class is loading or "Loading Software" kind of thing in this situation. Just For the know....this class is not screen on which the image will load.

  • Create a mirrored linked list in Java

    - by glacier89
Linked-List: Mirror Consider the following private class for a node of a singly-linked list of integers: private class Node{ public int value; public Node next; } A wrapper-class, called, ListImpl, contains a pointer, called start to the first node of a linked list of Node. Write an instance-method for ListImpl with the signature: public void mirror(); That makes a reversed copy of the linked-list pointed to by start and appends that copy to the end of the list. So, for example the list: start 1 2 3 after a call to mirror, becomes: start 1 2 3 3 2 1 Note: in your answer you do not need to dene the rest of the class for ListImpl just the mirror method.

  • Using singleton instead of a global static instance

    - by Farstucker
I ran into a problem today and a friend recommended I use a global static instance or more elegantly a singleton pattern. I spent a few hours reading about singletons but a few things still escape me. Background: What Im trying to accomplish is creating an instance of an API and use this one instance in all my classes (as opposed to making a new connection, etc). There seems to be about 100 ways of creating a singleton but with some help from yoda I found some thread safe examples. ..so given the following code: public sealed class Singleton { public static Singleton Instance { get; private set; } private Singleton() { APIClass api = new APIClass(); //Can this be done? } static Singleton() { Instance = new Singleton(); } } How/Where would you instantiate the this new class and how should it be called from a separate class? EDIT: I realize the Singleton class can be called with something like Singleton obj1 = Singleton.Instance(); but would I be able to access the methods within the APIs Class (ie. obj1.Start)? (not that I need to, just asking) EDIT #2: I might have been a bit premature in checking the answer but I do have one small thing that is still causing me problems. The API is launching just fine, unfortunately Im able to launch two instances? New Code public sealed class SingletonAPI { public static SingletonAPI Instance { get; private set; } private SingletonAPI() {} static SingletonAPI() { Instance = new SingletonAPI(); } // API method: public void Start() { API myAPI = new API();} } but if I try to do something like this... SingletonAPI api = SingletonAPI.Instance; api.Start(); SingletonAPI api2 = SingletonAPI.Instance; // This was just for testing. api2.Start(); I get an error saying that I cannot start more than one instance.

  • How do you convert date taken from a bash script to milliseconds in a Java program?

    - by Matt Pascoe
I am writing a piece of code in Java that needs to take a time sent from a bash script and parse the time to milliseconds. When I check the millisecond conversion on the date everything is correct except for the month I have sent which is January instead of March. Here is the variable I create in the bash script, which later in the script I pass to the Java program: TIME=`date +%m%d%Y_%H:%M:%S` Here is the Java code which parses the time to milliseconds: String dt = "${scriptstart}"; java.text.SimpleDateFormat scriptStart = new java.text.SimpleDateFormat("MMDDyyyy_HH:mm:ss"); long start = scriptStart.parse(dt).getTime(); The goal of this statement is to find the elapsed time between the start of the script and the current system time. To troubleshoot this I printed out the two: System Time = 1269898069496 (converted = Mon Mar 29 2010 16:27:49 GMT-0500 (Central Daylight Time)) Script Start = 03292010_16:27:45 Script Start in Milli = 1264804065000 (Converted = Fri Jan 29 2010 16:27:45 GMT-0600 (Central Standard Time))

  • Niewbie OutOfMemory problem

    - by Nick
So I am trying to create a producer/consumer type scala app. The LoopControl just sends a message to the MessageReceiver continoually. The MessageReceiver then delegates work to the MessageCreatorActor (whose work is to check a map for an object, and if not found create one and start it up). Each MessageActor created by this MessageCreatorActor is associated with an Id. Eventually this is where I want to do business logic. But I run out of memory after 15 minutes. Any help is appreciated import scala.actors.Actor import java.util.HashMap; import scala.actors.Actor._ case object LoopControl case object MessageReceiver case object MessageActor case object MessageActorCreator class MessageReceiver(msg: String) extends Actor { var messageActorMap = new HashMap[String, MessageActor] val messageCreatorActor = new MessageActorCreator(null, null) def act() { messageCreatorActor.start loop { react { case MessageActor(messageId) = if (msg.length() 0) { var messageActor = messageActorMap.get(messageId); if(messageActor == null) { messageCreatorActor ! MessageActorCreator(messageId, messageActorMap) }else { messageActor ! MessageActor } } } } } } case class MessageActorCreator(msg:String, messageActorMap: HashMap[String, MessageActor]) extends Actor { def act() { loop { react { case MessageActorCreator(messageId, messageActorMap) = if(messageId != null ) { var messageActor = new MessageActor(messageId); messageActorMap.put(messageId, messageActor) println(messageActorMap) messageActor.start messageActor ! MessageActor } } } } } class LoopControl(messageReceiver:MessageReceiver) extends Actor { var count : Int = 0; def act() { while (true) { messageReceiver ! • Groovlet not working in GWT project, container : embedded Jetty in google plugin

    - by user325284
Hi, I am working on a GWT application which uses GWT-RPC. I just made a test groovlet to see if it worked, but ran into some problems here's my groovlet package groovy.servlet; print "testing the groovlet"; Every tutorial said we don't need to subclass anything, and just a simple script would act as a servlet. my web.xml looks like this - <!-- groovy --> <servlet> <servlet-name>testGroovy</servlet-name> <servlet-class>groovy.servlet.testGroovy</servlet-class> </servlet> <servlet-mapping> <servlet-name>testGroovy</servlet-name> <url-pattern>*.groovy</url-pattern> </servlet-mapping When I Run as - web application, i get the following error from jetty : [WARN] failed testGroovy javax.servlet.UnavailableException: Servlet class groovy.servlet.testGroovy is not a javax.servlet.Servlet at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHolder.checkServletType(ServletHolder.java:377) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHolder.doStart(ServletHolder.java:234) at org.mortbay.component.AbstractLifeCycle.start(AbstractLifeCycle.java:39) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.ServletHandler.initialize(ServletHandler.java:616) at org.mortbay.jetty.servlet.Context.startContext(Context.java:140) at org.mortbay.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext.startContext(WebAppContext.java:1220) at org.mortbay.jetty.handler.ContextHandler.doStart(ContextHandler.java:513) at org.mortbay.jetty.webapp.WebAppContext.doStart(WebAppContext.java:448) at com.google.gwt.dev.shell.jetty.JettyLauncher$WebAppContextWithReload.doStart(JettyLauncher.java:447) at org.mortbay.component.AbstractLifeCycle.start(AbstractLifeCycle.java:39) at org.mortbay.jetty.handler.HandlerWrapper.doStart(HandlerWrapper.java:130) at org.mortbay.jetty.handler.RequestLogHandler.doStart(RequestLogHandler.java:115) at org.mortbay.component.AbstractLifeCycle.start(AbstractLifeCycle.java:39) at org.mortbay.jetty.handler.HandlerWrapper.doStart(HandlerWrapper.java:130) at org.mortbay.jetty.Server.doStart(Server.java:222) at org.mortbay.component.AbstractLifeCycle.start(AbstractLifeCycle.java:39) at com.google.gwt.dev.shell.jetty.JettyLauncher.start(JettyLauncher.java:543) at com.google.gwt.dev.DevMode.doStartUpServer(DevMode.java:421) at com.google.gwt.dev.DevModeBase.startUp(DevModeBase.java:1035) at com.google.gwt.dev.DevModeBase.run(DevModeBase.java:783) at com.google.gwt.dev.DevMode.main(DevMode.java:275) What did I miss ?

  • [Android] For-Loop Performance Oddity

    - by Jack Holt
I just noticed something concerning for-loop performance that seems to fly in the face of the recommendations given by the Google Android team. Look at the following code: package com.jackcholt; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.util.Log; public class Main extends Activity { @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); loopTest(); finish(); } private void loopTest() { final long loopCount = 1228800; final int[] image = new int[8 * 320 * 480]; long start = System.currentTimeMillis(); for (int i = 0; i < (8 * 320 * 480); i++) { image[i] = i; } for (int i = 0; i < (8 * 320 * 480); i++) { image[i] = i; } Log.i("loopTest", "Elapsed time (recompute loop limit): " + (System.currentTimeMillis() - start)); start = System.currentTimeMillis(); for (int i = 0; i < 1228800; i++) { image[i] = i; } for (int i = 0; i < 1228800; i++) { image[i] = i; } Log.i("loopTest", "Elapsed time (literal loop limit): " + (System.currentTimeMillis() - start)); start = System.currentTimeMillis(); for (int i = 0; i < loopCount; i++) { image[i] = i; } for (int i = 0; i < loopCount; i++) { image[i] = i; } Log.i("loopTest", "Elapsed time (precompute loop limit): " + (System.currentTimeMillis() - start)); } } When I run this code I get the following output in logcat: I/loopTest( 726): Elapsed time (recompute loop limit): 759 I/loopTest( 726): Elapsed time (literal loop limit): 755 I/loopTest( 726): Elapsed time (precompute loop limit): 1317 As you can see the code that seems to recompute the loop limit value on every iteration of the loop compares very well to the code that uses a literal value for the loop limit. However, the code that uses a variable which contains the precomputed value for the loop limit is significantly slower than either of the others. I'm not surprised that accessing a variable should be slower that using a literal but why does code that looks like it should be using two multiply instructions on every iteration of the loop so comparable in performance to a literal? Could it be that because literals are the only thing being multiplied, the Java compiler is optimizing out the multiplication and using a precomputed literal?

  • physics game programming box2d - orientating a turret-like object using torques

    - by egarcia
This is a problem I hit when trying to implement a game using the LÖVE engine, which covers box2d with Lua scripting. The objective is simple: A turret-like object (seen from the top, on a 2D environment) needs to orientate itself so it points to a target. The turret is on the x,y coordinates, and the target is on tx, ty. We can consider that x,y are fixed, but tx, ty tend to vary from one instant to the other (i.e. they would be the mouse cursor). The turret has a rotor that can apply a rotational force (torque) on any given moment, clockwise or counter-clockwise. The magnitude of that force has an upper limit called maxTorque. The turret also has certain rotational inertia, which acts for angular movement the same way mass acts for linear movement. There's no friction of any kind, so the turret will keep spinning if it has an angular velocity. The turret has a small AI function that re-evaluates its orientation to verify that it points to the right direction, and activates the rotator. This happens every dt (~60 times per second). It looks like this right now: function Turret:update(dt) local x,y = self:getPositon() local tx,ty = self:getTarget() local maxTorque = self:getMaxTorque() -- max force of the turret rotor local inertia = self:getInertia() -- the rotational inertia local w = self:getAngularVelocity() -- current angular velocity of the turret local angle = self:getAngle() -- the angle the turret is facing currently -- the angle of the like that links the turret center with the target local targetAngle = math.atan2(oy-y,ox-x) local differenceAngle = _normalizeAngle(targetAngle - angle) if(differenceAngle <= math.pi) then -- counter-clockwise is the shortest path self:applyTorque(maxTorque) else -- clockwise is the shortest path self:applyTorque(-maxTorque) end end ... it fails. Let me explain with two illustrative situations: The turret "oscillates" around the targetAngle. If the target is "right behind the turret, just a little clock-wise", the turret will start applying clockwise torques, and keep applying them until the instant in which it surpasses the target angle. At that moment it will start applying torques on the opposite direction. But it will have gained a significant angular velocity, so it will keep going clockwise for some time... until the target will be "just behind, but a bit counter-clockwise". And it will start again. So the turret will oscillate or even go in round circles. I think that my turret should start applying torques in the "opposite direction of the shortest path" before it reaches the target angle (like a car braking before stopping). Intuitively, I think the turret should "start applying torques on the opposite direction of the shortest path when it is about half-way to the target objective". My intuition tells me that it has something to do with the angular velocity. And then there's the fact that the target is mobile - I don't know if I should take that into account somehow or just ignore it. How do I calculate when the turret must "start braking"?

  • Starting inets/httpd with custom application

    - by williamstw
I've got a module that I'm attempting to turn into a proper OTP application. Currently, the module has start/0 which starts a genserver which supplies configuration data read from a config file. It then calls inets:start(httpd,config:lookup(httpd_conf)). I gather that I need to move the starting of these out into the .app file's (application list) but I'm not sure how to get my config data into the inets:start function (or pass in httpd)? Thanks, --tim

  • Do .NET Timers Run Asynchronously?

    - by MrEdmundo
I have a messaging aspect of my application using Jabber-net (an XMPP library.) What I would like to do, if for some reason the connection to the Server is ended, is keep trying to connect every minute or so. If I start a Timer to wait for a period of time before the next attempt, does that timer run asynchronously and the resulting Tick event join the main thread, or would I need to start my own thread and start the timer from within there?

  • How to check with program in other programming-language (C,C++, etc) whether JAVA is installed and w

    - by Andreas Hornig
Hi, I would like to know whether or not JAVA is installed and where (path). Perhaps it sounds strange, but my aim is to let BOINC (coded in C++) check the JAVA installation and then start my JAVA app. But therefore I need to know if BOINC can start JAVA natively, or if I have to also send the JRE and then start my app with this not installed JRE. So is there a way to check the installation first? thank you in advance! Andreas

  • JQuery selector for first hierarchy element?

    - by Sebastian P.R. Gingter
I have this HTML structure: <div class="start"> <div class="someclass"> <div class="catchme"> <div="nested"> <div class="catchme"> <!-- STOP! no, no catchme's within other catchme's --> </div> </div> </div> <div class="someclass"> <div class="catchme"> </div> </div> </div> <div class="otherclass"> <div class="catchme"> </div> </div> </div> I am looking for a JQuery structure that returns all catchme's within my 'start' container, except all catchme's that are contained in a found catchme. In fact I only want all 'first-level' catchme's regardless how deep they are in the DOM tree. This is something near, but not really fine: var start = $('.start'); // do smething $('.catchme:first, .catchme:first:parent + .catchme', start) I sort of want to break further traversing down the tree behind all found elements. Any ideas?

Is there anyway that I can force a match to be only on one line?

  • Flex - prevent dragging for certain items

    - by Tom
Hi troops, how would you prevent dragging for some items of your List or DataGrid? Let's say I had a list with two items: 'Tom' and 'Jerry'. Only 'Tom' should be dragable, not 'Jerry'. Ideally I had a 'isDragEnabled(item:Object):Boolean' function, which is being queried by the drag source. My difficulties start with the fact that the 'dragStart' event handler has a null value for the dragSource, so right from the start I find it hard to find out what the drag-start is about.. Thanks in advance! PS There have been a few discussions on preventing or canceling a drop, but I haven't seen much about preventing the drag start, hence this question.

  • ruby on rails delajed_job failing with rvm

  • Issue with angular gradient algorithm

    - by user146780
    I have an angular gradient algorithm: GLuint OGLENGINEFUNCTIONS::CreateAngularGradient( std::vector<ARGBCOLORF> &input,POINTFLOAT start, POINTFLOAT end, int width, int height ) { std::vector<GLubyte> pdata(width * height * 4); float pi = 3.1415; float cx; float cy; float r1; float r2; float ang; float px; float py; float t; cx = start.x; cy = start.y; r1 = 0; r2 = 500; ang = end.x / 100; ARGBCOLORF color; for (unsigned int i = 0; i < height; i++) { for (unsigned int j = 0; j < width; j++) { px = j; py = i; if( px * px + py * py <= r2 * r2 && px * px + py * py >= r1 * r1 ) { t= atan2(py-cy,px-cx) + ang; t= t+ pi; if (t > 2* pi) { t=t-2*pi; t=t/(2*pi); } } //end + start color.r = (0 * t) + (120 * (1 - t)); color.g = (50 * t) + (255 * (1 - t)); color.b = (0 * t) + (50 * (1 - t)); color.a = (255 * t) + (200 * (1 - t)); pdata[i * 4 * width + j * 4 + 0] = (GLubyte) color.r; pdata[i * 4 * width + j * 4 + 1] = (GLubyte) color.g; pdata[i * 4 * width + j * 4 + 2] = (GLubyte) 12; pdata[i * 4 * width + j * 4 + 3] = (GLubyte) 255; } } It works fine except the ang variable only controls the end sweep, not the start sweep. The start sweep is always facing the middle left as seen here: http://img810.imageshack.us/img810/9623/uhoh.png Basically I have no control over the end one going this <- way. How could I control this one? Thanks
