• Robust Large File Transfer with WCF

  I want to transfer big files (1GB) over unreliable transport channels. When connection is interrupted, I don't want start file transfering from the begining. I can partially store it in a temp table and store last readed position, so when connection is reestablished I can request continue uploading of file from this position. Is there any best-practice for such kind of things. I'm currently use chunking channel.

  I have installed SharePoint Farm on Windows Vista, all things went normally, my account is administrator. Now I wish to add other users in SharePoint, how to do this? I have to create a new account on Windows? or there are facilities for Windows SharePoint administrator to create users? I read something by Active Directory but on Windows Vista I have not found it. Any ideas?

• UNIX find for finding file names NOT ending in specific extensions?

  Is there a simple way to recursively find all files in a directory hierarchy, that do not end in a list of extensions? E.g. all files that are not *.dll or *.exe UNIX/GNU find, powerful as it is, doesn't seem to have an exclude mode (or I'm missing it), and I've always found it hard to use regular expressions to find things that don't match a particular expression. I'm in a Windows environment (using the GnuWin32 port of most GNU tools), so I'm equally open for Windows-only solutions.

• How can I prevent ListBox from selecting an item when I right-click it?

  The tricky part is that each item has a ContextMenu that I still want to open when it is right-clicked (I just don't want it selecting it). In fact, if it makes things any easier, I don't want any automatic selection at all, so if there's some way I can disable it entirely that would be just fine. I'm thinking of just switching to an ItemsControl actually, so long as I can get virtualization and scrolling to work with it.

• How can I have a web link perform an action in a specific desktop application?

  The specific situation is I have a .zip file that I want to open with a certain application. However, I don't want all ZIP files associated with that application. I think the answer is that instead of saying, "download this zip file, and open it with application X" I could have the browser basically go well my desktop application to go fetch it on its own (the same way directives like itunes: mailto: or aim: do things like launch the itunes store, add buddies, etc).   I'm using the Zend Router and so things like (/ and /index.php) or (/about and /index.php/about) ends up as the same here. However, /index.php/whatever should not exist as it is the exactly same resource as /whatever so it doesn't make a sense the duplication. How do I avoid this? Even http://zendframework.com/manual/en/zend.controller.router.html and http://zendframework.com/index.php/manual/en/zend.controller.router.html both exists. It doesn't make any sense at all...

I would like to be able to name my models GoogleToken, rather than MyAuthGem::Oauth::Tokens::GoogleToken. How do I do that? This will be for Rails 2.3+ and Rails 3.

• Mimic Windows' 'Run' window in .NET

  I'm just digging into the gcc manual and some things are still unclear to me: a) When specifying a std, should I always use -pedantic in conjunction? b) When using -g, it the standard level sufficient or should I specify level 3, i.e. -g3? c) Is it good practice to use -Werror to promote all warnings to errors and -pedantic-errors to promote all pedantic warnings to errors?

• Images are overflowing their container in IE8 with Fancybox

  In a sort of follow up to this question, I have another problem in IE8. When clicking the gallery and the lightbox appears, the images are overflowing their containing element (by the looks of things). Has anyone ever experienced this before? Of course, the good guys (Firefox/Safari/etc) display it perfectly. How do I fix this? Thanks UPDATE Should I just got with a new Lightbox?
