  • Autorotation and multiple view controllers

    I'm creating an iPad application which should only work in portrait and portait upsidedown modes. For performance reasons in my applicationDidFinishLaunching method I'm creating several viewControllers, and adding them to my main window as subviews. I then hide the ones I don't want to see straight away. There is no tab bar or navigation controller. My problem is that only the first viewController seems to be receiving the rotate calls. I have verified this by swapping around the order in which I add the subviews to the main window and NSLog's. Is there some way I can force all the controllers to receive the calls? Some of my views are designed to lay over the top of another view, but this behind view will not always be the same one - so it seems to make sense to have the overlay view in a separate view controller. Am I doing something fundamentally wrong, and that's why it's not behaving as I would expect?   • Display processing page then redirect when complete

    I have a script that takes a while. I'd like to display a page during the processing of the script then redirect when the process is complete. E.g.: form.php - processing.php - display_result.php I would like that processing.php is displayed immediately after form is submitted showing (Processing your information, please wait...) Once processing is complete the page should be redirected to display_result.php Is there anyway to sort of flush the content to the browser before processing begins, then redirect when the process is complete?

    What settings do I need to make it so when a user presses "print" in the browser, using a print.css stylesheet, the textareas display all their content (dynamic height) in the printed version, without using javascript? I have tried this: textarea { overflow: visible; float: none !important; height: auto !important; } ... but it doesn't work. Any ideas?

    I am running a Django instance locally and doing some Facebook development. So, I set up a port on a remote machine to forward to my local machine, so that Facebook can hit the web server, and have the requests forwarded to my local machine. Unfortunately, I'm getting the following error in my browser when I try and access the page: http://dev.thegreathive.com/ Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I think the problem is on my local machine, since if I kill the SSH tunnel, the error message changes.

    Is there a way to start WebDevServer (Visual Web Development Server) by passing in the .sln file without actually opening Visual Studio 2008? I am a JavaScript developer and I work in a client project and I want to save the memory overhead consumed by VS and give it to multiple browsers for cross-browser testing.   • Jquery Ajax Call In For Loop Only Runs Once - Possible Issue with Timing & Exit Condition?

    Background I'm building a form that uses autocomplete against the EchoNest API. First the users picks an artist, using the Artist Suggest call. Next they select a song but the Song and/Or Artist song search doesn't provide a "wild card" search. It only returns exact matches. So based on the forums they suggest building an array of the songs and using auto complete on the array. I can only get a maximum of 100 responses at a time. I do know based on the initial response the number of songs. My Plan: Wrap the ajax call in a for loop ('runonceloop'). Amend the loop exit condition after the first response with the total number of songs. Challenge I'm having: The 'runonceloop' only completes a singe loop because or at least that's what I believe: The exit condition is satisfied before the first response [1] is received. I've tried to adjust the 'exit condition' and 'counter' such that they are set and and increased at the end of the success block. This seems to lock up my browser. Can someone provide some guidance on this situation?[2] I'd really appreciate it. I also don't think turning async off is a good idea because it locks the browser.   • 'JQuery' is undefined

    I am working on a ASP.net project created with local file system settings. I am using MVC and Jquery. Jquery is working fine when I run the application in debug mode i.e. in ASP.net Development server. I am trying to host the application in IIS 7. In hosted mode, it does not recognize Jquery and gives scripting error 'Jquery is undefined'. The locations of the script files is unchanged in both modes. Can anybody have any clue what can be the reason and how to solve this.     Originally, I just want to verify that session_start locks on session. So, I create a PHP file as below. Basically, if the pageview is even, the page sleeps for 10 seconds; if the pageview is odd, it doesn't. And, session_start is used to obtain the page view in $_SESSION. I tried to access the page in two tabs of one browser. It is not surprising that the first tab takes 10 seconds since I explicitly let it sleep. The second tab would not sleep, but it should be blocked by sessiont_start. That works as expected. To my surprise, the output of the second page shows that session_start takes almost no time. Actually, the whole page seems takes no time to load.     I'm having difficulties in the making the logout code for php to work. When I click on the logout button, it will go back to the home page, but when I click on the back button in the browser. I can still access the previous page, wherein the user must be logged on to access it. So I'm thinking of redirecting to the login page when the user clicks on the back button on the browser.
