• please take a look at my server's ram usage

  Hi, i am a noob with servers. I have a centos5.5 vps with 512mb ram. My goal is to have it host just one magento store. I've installed Magento on the server without any control panel, by just installing lamp myself and whatever php extensions were necessary to get Magento to install. As soon as i visit my magento store, suddenly the ram on the vps is almost completely used, with only about 100mb left. Please see this screenshot of htop taken after just myself visited the website. http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/1944/screenouv.png As you can see there's only around 100mb left. Is that normal? I'm wondering if i might have done something stupid with the server that makes it very resource hungry. I installed apache from the centos base repo, php version 5.3 from the ius repository and mysql 5.1 also from ius repo. I haven't changed any of the default config files for any of these except to make memory_minimum 256 in php.ini. Is there anything i can do to make more ram free? I'm clueless but i see each Apache daemon is using 8% of available ram, and AFAIK each visitor needs one Apache daemon. So i would run out of ram with just a handful of visitors. • SOLVED: deploying applications that use LINQ to Entities.

  HI COMUNITY!!!! I want to use L2E since it s very convenient to my company's apps, I created a demo project, the demo does run on every machine but when I, lets say, press a button that has some code that uses the entity I get this error: specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration, or is not valid. note that I get this error only on machines that does not have VS2008 installed, on these machines (the ones with VS2008) the demo works well. any advice is appreciated. I am using MySql server with Mysql Conector 6.3 and the model is created with ADO.Net entitiy model.   I have been trying to configure WCF to work with Azure ACS. This WCF configuration has 2 bugs: It does not publish MEX end point. It does not invoke custom behaviour extension. • Maven does not resolve a local Grails plug-in

  My goal is to take a Grails web application and build it into a Web ARchive (WAR file) using Maven, and the key is that it must populate the "plugins" folder without live access to the internet. An "out of the box" Grails webapp will already have the plugins folder populated with JAR files, but the maven build script should take care of populating it, just like it does for any traditional WAR projects (such as WEB-INF/lib/ if it's empty) This is an error when executing mvn grails:run-app with Grails 1.1 using Maven 2.0.10 and org.grails:grails-maven-plugin:1.0. • Connecting to mssql in Php - Extension Err

• Java applet needs permission but doesn't ask for it!

  I'm trying to connect a VPN connection (on Mac OS X 10.6.6) through a Check point java applet. The first time it ran I chose NOT to give it access to my files and such and now every time I try to lunch the applet it tells me too "Please confirm the use of this Java applet and then refresh or reopen the window." But I don't know how to confirm it nor delete the applet. How can I change the permissions afterwards and where can I find java applets installed on my computer? Update: This turns out to be a problem in Firefox. Cleared cookies, Java cache and certificate in Safari and it seems to work.

• Redmine on Apache2 with Passenger issue

  I installed Redmine and run it in Apache2 with the Passenger module. Apache2 boots, Passenger module gets loaded and the Redmine welcome page is shown, however when trying to login or navigate to other parts of the Redmine site, the browser keeps loading and loading and loading forever, although the Redmine production.log indicates redirects and HTTP 200 codes in the header, so everything seems to work correctly according to the log. I tested in various browsers. Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong? I will add apache configuration and some relevant log snippets from both apache and redmine hereafter. • Mono 2.11 on nginx using fastcgi-mono-server4 will not work

  I have mono 2.11 set up with my nginx 1.0.15 webserver running on centos 6.2. I built it from source and xps2, xps4 and fastcgi-mono-server2 work as expected. The problem is when I try and run fastcgi-mono-server4. • Squid, NTLM, Windows 7 and IE8

  I'm running Squid 2.7-stable4, Samba 3 and the Windows 7 RC with IE8. I have NTLM authentication setup on my squid proxy server and it works fine for every combination of browser and Windows (including IE8 on XP and Firefox on Win7), but it doesn't work (keeps asking for authentication) for IE8 on Windows 7. I can get it to work using the LmCompatibilityLevel registry hack, but I'd really prefer to get it working on the server. Does anyone have any experience with this? Or know where to start looking? The samba logs don't reveal much. • Disable work offline in Internet Explorer 8

  I am using Windows 7, and IE8. Every time I have GMail open in IE8, and I resume from sleep, I get the question about working offline - even if at that momoent the wireless connection is available. This is particularly sad, because all browsing is stopped until I dismiss that dialog, that may be hidden below other windows. As I am not using offline browsing at all, is it possible to disable the functionality altogether, so that I no longer get the question? A bit like in Firefox, where I simply get the error message with page unavailable. I have googled a bit, but no luck so far. Even a direct modification of the registry would be fine, for me.

• Accessing microsoft office web apps (specifically OneNote) from iphone or android

  I'm trying to access some OneNote notebooks from the iphone and android browsers. On the iphone I can't seem to open the notebook and see it's text. When i click on the notebook it wants to download it And it's a file type that the browser can't understand. When using android the browser crashes everytime i click on the notebook. Interestingly this happens no matter which browser i use on android - The stock browser, skyfire and dolphin all crash the same at this point. I've also tried clicking on the "desktop version" link which forces the app to render the desktop version rather than the mobile version but same result. Finally i tried changing dolphin and skyfire to emulate iphone in firefox but again same results. Has anyone got this working?

• Sonicwall SSL VPN Login : I need help with a NetExtender initialization error.

  I receive the error message: "Server is busy now, please try it later!" after logging into our Sonicwall successfully and attempting to initialize NetExtender for the "virtual office" function. It was set up yesterday and I am able to log in without any issues, but I keep getting hung up on the installation and/or initialization of NetExtender. I have attempted to connect remotely on XP and 7 using both FireFox and IE. I am using a Sonicwall NSA-240 with load balancing active (1 ISP and 2 different connections)- I have tried turning off load balancing and disabling the secondary connection but still receive the same error. I've been in contact with SonicWall support but I haven't heard from them as of yet so I'm asking the Server Fault community in the meantime... Does anyone have any ideas as per what could be the issue? Thanks -Jack

  Hello, I am in need of a thunderbird msi (Microsoft Installer) package which can be deployed via group policies using Microsoft ActiveDirectory. I am very pleased with the Firefox packaged provided by FrontMotion but unfortunately they do not have packages for Thunderbird. sob sob I guess, I could try to do the packaging myself, or do all of the installations by hand :( I did some searches and found very outdated packages by ZettaServe, but no current releases, yet.. Anyone using .msi packaged Thunderbird installations? If you have msi packages, where did you get them from? regards, Comradin

  On a new installation of IIS 7.5 I have setup Windows Authentication on my Intranet. The providers I have used are 'NTLM' and negotiate in that order. This works fine in IE and Firefox but in chrome I get the following This web page is not available The web page at http://mysite.com/myintranet.php might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 338 (net::ERR_INVALID_AUTH_CREDENTIALS): Unknown error. I've tried looking online for a solution without any success. I'm running the latest version of Chrome 21.0.1180.60

Apache: Re-negotiation handshake failed: Not accepted by client!? Firefox: ssl_error_handshake_failure_alert I assume it is a configuration error, but have not been able to locate it. Additional info: Commercial CA server cert servers secure works without problem in Apache 2.2 & Passenger. Only client authentication related directives do not work.

• Excel crashes when opening Excel files from Internet Explorer

  I have been running into some issues when opening Excel files from Internet Explorer, generally the first document or two will open fine but after that trying to open a file will cause Excel and Internet Explorer to crash to the desktop without any notifications being given. This doesn't happen for users who are running Excel 2007, but for users with Excel 2003 it may or may not happen to them. The files in question are Excel XML files and Internet Explorer 6 and Excel 2003 are being use. At this time it would not be possible to upgrade Internet Explorer, but it would be able to upgrade to Excel to version 2007 if that would resolve the issue. Overdue Update: We recently upgraded to Firefox at the office which has rendered this error a non-issue; however, it is still unresolved from the standpoint that we haven't been able to come up with an explanation to the issue. Since IE6 is still installed on the systems, a fix to the problem (or explanation of why it's happening) would be appreciated.

• Clearing Java certificates cache (force reload certificates)

  A simple question here. One application gave me this exception when trying to access a website with a expired certificate: java.security.cert.CertificateExpiredException So, I renewed the certificated from the website machine and restarted it. When I try to access it from Firefox or Chrome it will load the new certificate (which it's expiration date is set somewhere near 2040). The problem is, Java applications doesn't seems to renew this certificate, it seems to be stuck in some kind of internal cache. I already tried to add it to the keystore and set options in the application properties like -Dcom.sun.net.ssl.checkRevocation=false. No matter what I do, it always throw me a java.security.cert.CertificateExpiredException Any ideas?

• Google chrome asking for username and password for OWA

  Hi, i have a question about the google chrome browser. When i navigate to my work's Outlook Web Access site to read my emails, the chrome browser is prompting me for a username and password to the server saying "Authentication Required - the server XXXXXX.XXX:443 requires a username and password. After i put them in i then have to enter in the normal OWA username and password to access my emails as per normal. The funny thing is.. 1] If i click CANCEL on the first dialog it takes me to the OWA screen and i can log in normal anyway. However - subqeuent page clicks will keep prompting me each time for the server credentials. 2] I am NOT prompted for server UN and PW if i use IE or fireFox. Does anyone know how to stop chrome from asking me each time? or is it a server setting - i do know that a friend who uses the same browser (chrome) and also OWA does not have the same problem (NB: they work at a different company) Thanks!

• How best to troubleshoot a WIA issue through an IIS7 reverse proxy.

  I've got an Intranet site that uses Windows Authentication and is accessed through an IIS 7 Reverse Proxy. Using FireFox, Safari or Chrome it works fine. I'm prompted for credentials, I supply them and away I go. In IE 7/8 I get prompted for credentials but they're rejected and I eventually get a 401 not authorized error. The application server is configured for Windows Auth only and rejects basic authentication. I would be surprised if the front end proxy would accept Basic Auth so my suspicion is that it's a trust issue with my browser and IE isn't relaying the credentials however our IS Team has IE so locked down I'm unable to alter trust levels or even view the settings. How should I go about troubleshooting this problem? I'm at a loss and they've yet to respond to my support ticket.
