  • Does PHP *have* to serialize/unserialize session data between each HTTP request? Or is there a sett

    - by Pete Alvin
    I think I understand why sessions are evil but for snappy client user experience I don't want to have to re-query the database on each HTTP request. (As a comparision, Java servlets can effortlessly keep tons of session objects in memory.) Can PHP be set to do this or does it have to serialize because it runs from CGI/FastCGI and therefore by definition is a new process each time a request comes in? I will be running PHP using LAMP.

  • reconfiguring php? or do I have to reinstall?

    - by matthewsteiner
    Alright, so I need the soap extension enabled in php. When I run phpinfo(), it's not there, so I'm guessing I have to recompile? I can follow tutorials online to recompile the most recent php version for centos, but will it generally just work after that? Or does apache need to know to use the new installation? Thanks for any direction you can give me.

  • Which user does PHP/IIS6 use to read/write files?

    - by Stung
    Hi, I've installed PHP5 (FastCGI) on IIS6 and is just wondering which windows user PHP uses to access the file system? With ASP.NET for example, the ASPNET account is used to access the file system. But how about PHP? I've read some post that suggest it uses the anonymous (i.e. IUSR) account. But isn't it a security breach if I give write access to the IUSR account? Thanks!

  • how to set php SERVER_PORT var to 80, behind varnish?

    - by Daniel
    how to force php to read SERVER_PORT as 80, when apache listens on 8080 and varnish listens on 80 ?? if my apache vhost is set to 8080, SERVER_PORT will always be 8080, this is troubling me a little since in many parts of the application some links are calculated with SERVER_NAME and SERVER_PORT together, .. so what I need is that php "believes" that SERVER_PORT is 80, so all links will pass trough varnish regards Daniel

  • What is the best Apache, PHP setup for a Mac developer? [on hold]

    - by hevets
    I'm a Web Developer who has just made the switch over to Mac. Despite all that I know and love about the Windows environment I find myself in a new mysterious place. My question: what is the best Apache, PHP setup for a Mac developer? On Windows I've been using WAMP which was quite nice, I know Mac comes shipped with Apache 2 and PHP pre-installed. I'm just wondering if there is a better solution out there.

  • phpMyAdmin setup issues

    - by EquinoX
    I am trying to follow the tutorial here to setup the user and pass. It says there that "this section is only applicable if your MySQL server is running with --skip-show-database". First question is, how do I check if MySQl server is running with --skip-show-database? Is there any way I can access phpMyAdmin SQL query window without logging in? Otherwise I'd have to execute this SQL from command line. I am also getting this: Cannot load mcrypt extension. Please check your PHP configuration. I have added mcrypt.so to php.ini and doing the following command proves that I have it. [root@DT html]# rpm -qa | grep mcrypt mcrypt-2.6.8-1.el5 php-mcrypt-5.3.5-1.1.w5 libmcrypt-2.5.8-4.el5.centos [root@DT html]# php -v PHP 5.3.5 (cli) (built: Feb 19 2011 13:10:09) Copyright (c) 1997-2010 The PHP Group Zend Engine v2.3.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2010 Zend Technologies Now when I go to phpinfo() and search for mcrypt it can find it inside the Configure Command row ('--with-mcrypt=shared,/usr'). So, what to do next?. UPDATE: I didn't put extension=mcrypt.so in php.ini as it will complain the following: PHP Warning: Module 'mcrypt' already loaded in Unknown on line 0 Here's my nginx.conf: #user nobody; worker_processes 2; #error_log logs/error.log; #error_log logs/error.log notice; #error_log logs/error.log info; #pid logs/nginx.pid; events { worker_connections 1024; } http { include mime.types; default_type application/octet-stream; #log_format main '$remote_addr - $remote_user [$time_local] "$request" ' # '$status $body_bytes_sent "$http_referer" ' # '"$http_user_agent" "$http_x_forwarded_for"'; #access_log logs/access.log main; sendfile on; #tcp_nopush on; #keepalive_timeout 0; keepalive_timeout 65; gzip on; server { listen 80; root /usr/share/nginx/html; server_name localhost; #charset koi8-r; #access_log logs/host.access.log main; location / { #root html; index index.html index.htm; } #error_page 404 /404.html; # redirect server error pages to the static page /50x.html # error_page 500 502 503 504 /50x.html; location = /50x.html { #root html; } # proxy the PHP scripts to Apache listening on 127.0.0.1:80 # #location ~ \.php$ { # proxy_pass http://127.0.0.1; #} # pass the PHP scripts to FastCGI server listening on 127.0.0.1:9000 # location ~ \.php$ { #root /usr/local/nginx/html; fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index index.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /usr/share/nginx/html$fastcgi_script _name; include fastcgi_params; } # deny access to .htaccess files, if Apache's document root # concurs with nginx's one location ~ /\.ht { deny all; } } # another virtual host using mix of IP-, name-, and port-based configuration # #server { # listen 8000; # listen somename:8080; # server_name somename alias another.alias; # location / { # root html; # index index.html index.htm; # } #} # HTTPS server # #server { # listen 443; # server_name localhost; # ssl on; # ssl_certificate cert.pem; # ssl_certificate_key cert.key; # ssl_session_timeout 5m; # ssl_protocols SSLv2 SSLv3 TLSv1; # ssl_ciphers ALL:!ADH:!EXPORT56:RC4+RSA:+HIGH:+MEDIUM:+LOW:+SSLv2:+EXP; # ssl_prefer_server_ciphers on; # location / { # root html; # index index.html index.htm; # } #} }

  • php soapclient responds as 'null' but xml response is ok using __getLastResponse

    - by Roger S
    I'm looking for help with a php soapclient call: The call is to a remote panel and I want to pull off the log data. There are various services published via the WSDL and I am able to use several with no issues. Here's the list: array(12) { [0]=> string(77) "GetGPTimerChannelsResponse GetGPTimerChannels(GetGPTimerChannels $parameters)" [1]=> string(74) "GetGPTimerChannelResponse GetGPTimerChannel(GetGPTimerChannel $parameters)" [2]=> string(74) "SetGPTimerChannelResponse SetGPTimerChannel(SetGPTimerChannel $parameters)" [3]=> string(47) "GetSlaveResponse GetSlave(GetSlave $parameters)" [4]=> string(71) "GetLogDataInlineResponse GetLogDataInline(GetLogDataInline $parameters)" [5]=> string(71) "GetLogItemInlineResponse GetLogItemInline(GetLogItemInline $parameters)" [6]=> string(59) "GetAlarmListResponse GetAlarmList(GetAlarmList $parameters)" [7]=> string(50) "GetSyslogResponse GetSyslog(GetSyslog $parameters)" [8]=> string(47) "SetSlaveResponse SetSlave(SetSlave $parameters)" [9]=> string(53) "GetVersionResponse GetVersion(GetVersion $parameters)" [10]=> string(53) "GetTDBInfoResponse GetTDBInfo(GetTDBInfo $parameters)" [11]=> string(53) "GetLogItemResponse GetLogItem(GetLogItem $parameters)" } I am trying to use the GetLogDataInline service which requires four parameters - these I'm passing as an array and all seems OK when doing the connection (the request/response takes around 30 seconds to process). When I look at a var_dump / print_r of the result, it returns NULL, whereas when I do a call to the __getLastResponse all of the data I need to populate my local database is there. Below is the code for the soapclient call: $client = new soapclient ("http://192.168.1.126/cgi-bin/cgi.cgi?WSDL", array("trace" => 1, "exceptions" => true, "cache_wsdl" => WSDL_CACHE_NONE, "features" => SOAP_SINGLE_ELEMENT_ARRAYS )); $params = array ( "ResponseType" => "Xml", "Step" => 15, "Start" => "2012-06-14T12:00:00+01:00", "End" => "2012-06-14T23:59:45+01:00" ); $result = $client -> GetLogDataInline ($params); An extract from the var_dump / __getLastResponse is: var_dump($client) object(SoapClient)#1 (4) { ["trace"]= int(1) ["_features"]= int(1) ["_soap_version"]= int(1) ["sdl"]= resource(4) of type (Unknown) } var_dump($result) NULL __getLastResponse 15 2012-06-14T12:00:00+01:00 2012-06-14T23:59:45+01:00 External Temperature Workshop Lux Level Electricity Pulse 100wh Workshop PIR Active Boiler Flow Temp Outside Lux Workshop_Light_Override_Hours Water Consumption (Litres) Electricity kWh Consumption Water Consumption M3 Gas kWh Consumption Outside Lighting Heating Effective Setpoint Router Reset Workshop Lighting State Heating Run Hours Heating On Receptin Percent RH Reception Temp Reception RH Reception Temp 2012-06-14T12:00:00+01:00 -85.6 2.1 -1.0 Off -91.5 13.8 0.0 -1.0 0.0 0.0 -0.1 Off 21.0 Off Off 0.0 Off 53.0 22.0 53.0 22.0 2012-06-14T12:00:15+01:00 -85.4 2.1 -1.0 Off -91.8 13.8 0.0 -1.0 0.0 0.0 -0.1 Off 21.0 Off Off 0.0 Off 53.0 22.0 53.0 22.0 2012-06-14T12:00:30+01:00 -85.4 2.1 -1.0 Off -91.8 13.8 0.0 -1.0 0.0 0.0 -0.1 Off 21.0 Off Off 0.0 Off 53.0 22.0 53.0 22.0 2012-06-14T12:00:45+01:00 -85.4 2.1 -1.0 Off -91.5 13.7 0.0 -1.0 0.0 0.0 -0.1 Off 21.0 Off Off 0.0 Off 54.0 22.0 54.0 22.0 (this should be xml but doesn't appear to have copied correctly) If you've got this far, thanks for taking the time.   • How to find problem with PHP XSLTProcessor when return from transformToXML is false and libxml_get_

    - by John
    I'm working on the code below to allow HTTP user agents that cannot perform XSL transformations to view the resources on my server. I'm mystified because the result of transformToXML is false, but the result of libxml_get_errors() is an empty array. As you can see, the code outputs the LibXSLT version ID and I'm getting the problem on WinVista with version 1.1.24. Is libxml_get_errors() not the right function to get the errors from the XSLTProcessor object? If you're interested in the XML documents, you can get them from http://bobberinteractive.com/index.xhtml and .../stylesheets/layout.xsl <?php //redirect browsers that can handle the source files. if (strpos ( $_SERVER ['HTTP_ACCEPT'], 'application/xhtml+xml' )) { header ( "HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently" ); header ( "Location: http://" . $_SERVER ['SERVER_NAME'] . "/index.xhtml" ); header ( "Content-Type: text/text" ); echo "\nYour browser is capable of processing the <a href='/index.xhtml' site contents on its own."; die (); } //start by checking the template $baseDir = dirname ( __FILE__ ); $xslDoc = new DOMDocument (); if (! $xslDoc-load ( $baseDir . '/stylesheets/layout.xsl' )) { header ( "HTTP/1.1 500 Server Error" ); header ( "Content-Type: text/plain" ); echo "\n Can't load " . $baseDir . '/stylesheets/layout.xsl'; die (); } //resolve the requested resource (browsers that need transformation will request the resource without the suffix) $uri = $_SERVER ['REQUEST_URI']; $len = strlen ( $uri ); if (1 = $len || '/' == substr ( $uri, $len - 1 )) { $fileName = $baseDir . "/index.xhtml"; // use 'default' document if pathname ends in '/' } else { $fileName = $baseDir . (1 load ( $fileName )) { header ( "HTTP/1.1 500 Server Error" ); echo "\n Can't load " . $fileName; die (); } // now start the XSL template processing $proc = new XSLTProcessor (); $proc-importStylesheet ( $xslDoc ); $doc = $proc-transformToXML ( $xmlDoc ); if (false === $doc) { header ( "HTTP/1.1 500 Server Error" ); header ( "Content-Type: text/plain" ); echo "\n"; // HERE is where it gets strange: the value of $doc is false and libxml_get_errors returns 0 entries. display_xml_errors ( libxml_get_errors() ); die (); } header ( "Content-Type: text/html" ); echo "\n"; echo $doc; function display_xml_errors($errors) { echo count ( $errors ) .   • PHP: table structure

    - by A3efan
    I'm developing a website that has some audio courses, each course can have multiple lessons. I want to display each course in its own table with its different lessons. This is my sql statement: Table: courses id, title Table: lessons id, cid (course id), title, date, file $sql = "SELECT lessons.*, courses.title AS course FROM lessons INNER JOIN courses ON courses.id = lessons.cid GROUP BY lessons.id ORDER BY lessons.id" ; Can someone help me with the PHP code? This is the I code I have written: mysql_select_db($database_config, $config); mysql_query("set names utf8"); $sql = "SELECT lessons.*, courses.title AS course FROM lessons INNER JOIN courses ON courses.id = lessons.cid GROUP BY lessons.id ORDER BY lessons.id" ; $result = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { echo "<p><span class='heading1'>" . $row['course'] . • PHP returning part of the code document

    - by The.Anti.9
    I have a PHP page that does a couple of different things depending on what action is set to in the GET data. Depending, it is supposed to return some JSON, but instead of doing anything it is supposed to it returns the bottom half of the code document itself, starting in the middle of the line. Heres the snippit from where it starts: ... } elseif ($_GET['action'] == 'addtop') { if (!isset($_GET['pname']) || !isset($_GET['url']) || !isset($_GET['artist']) || !isset($_GET['album']) || !isset($_GET['file'])) { die('Error: Incomplete data!'); } if (!file_exists($_GET['pname'].".txt")) { die('Error: No such playlist!'); } $plist = json_decode(file_get_contents($_GET['pname'].".txt"), true); $fh = fopen($_GET['pname'].".txt", 'w') or die('Could not open playlist!'); array_push($plist, array("artist" => $_GET['artist'], "album" => $_GET['album'], "file" => $_GET['file'], "url" => $_GET['url'])); fwrite($fh,json_encode($plist)); } elseif ($_GET['action'] == 'delfromp') { ... And here is what I get when I go to the page: $_GET['artist'], "album" = $_GET['album'], "file" = $_GET['file'], "url" = $_GET['url'])); fwrite($fh,json_encode($plist)); } elseif ($_GET['action'] == 'delfromp') { if (!isset($_GET['pname']) || !isset($_GET['id'])) { die('Error: Incomplete data!'); } if (!file_exists($_GET['pname'].".txt")) { die('Error: No such playlist!'); } $plist = json_decode(file_get_contents($_GET['pname'].".txt"), true); $fh = fopen($_GET['pname'].".txt", 'w') or die('Could not open playlist!'); unset($plist[$_GET['id']]); $plist = array_values($plist); fwrite($fh,json_encode($plist)); } elseif ($_GET['action'] == 'readp') { if (!file_exists($_GET['pname'].".txt")) { die('Error: No such playlist!'); } $plist = json_decode(file_get_contents($_GET['pname'].".txt"), true); $arr = array("entries" = $plist); $json = json_encode($arr); echo $json; } elseif ($_GET['action'] == 'getps') { $plists = array(); if ($handle = opendir('Playlists')) { while (false !== ($playlist = readdir($handle))) { if ($playlist != "." && $playlist != "..") { array_push($plists, substr($playlist, 0, strripos($playlist, '.')-1)); } } } else { die('Error: Can\'T open playlists!'); } $arr = array("entries"=$plists); $json = json_encode($arr); echo $json; } else { die('Error: No such action!'); } ? It starts in the middle of the array_push(... line. I really can't think of what it is doing. Theres no echos anywhere around it. Any ideas?

  • PHP HTML table is too wide

    - by typoknig
    I have a table that I cannot get to size correctly. The table populates with information from a database via a loop. Sometimes if the data is too long the table extends past where it should. When the data is that long I want the data to wrap in the cells so the table stays where it should. I have tried the normal table data but it isn't working. Any ideas? <?php echo "<table> <tr> <th>id</th> <th>700-number</th> <th>First name</th> <th>Last name</th> <th>Email</th> <th>Response</th> <th>Created On</th> </tr>"; $num = mysql_num_rows($result); for ($i = 0; $i < $num; $i++) { $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); $id = $row['id']; $school_id = $row['school_id']; $fname = $row['first_name']; $lname = $row['last_name']; $email = $row['email']; $attending = ($row['attending'] == 0) ? 'No' : 'Yes'; $date = $row['created_on']; $class = (($i % 2) == 0) ? "td2" : "td1"; echo "<tr>"; echo "<td class=" . $class . ">$id</td>"; echo "<td class=" . $class .   • xPath insert before and after - With DOM and PHP

    - by Jens Törnell
    I need to add a class to a HTML structure. My class is called "container" and should start right after div/ul/li (the child of ul and its simblings, not grandchilds) and should end right before the closing of the same element. My whole code looks like this: <?php $content = ' <div class="sidebar-1"> <ul> <li> <h4>Title</h4> <ul> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> </ul> </li> <li> <p>Paragraf</p> </li> <li> <h4>New title</h4> <ul> <li>Some text</li> <li>Some text åäö</li> </ul> </li> </ul> </div> '; $doc = new DOMDocument(); $doc->loadHTML($content); $x = new DOMXPath($doc); $start_text = '<div class="container">'; $end_text = '</div>'; foreach($x->query('//div/ul/li') as $anchor) { $anchor->insertBefore(new DOMText($start_text),$anchor->firstChild); } echo $doc->saveXML($doc->getElementsByTagName('ul')->item(0)); ?> It works as far as i can add the class opening but not the closing element. I also get strange encoding doing this. I want the output to be the same encoding as the input. The result should be <div class="sidebar-1"> <ul> <li> <div class="content"> <h4>Title</h4> <ul> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.test.com">Test</a></li> </ul> </div> </li> <li> <div class="content"> <p>Paragraf</p> </div> </li> <li> <div class="content"> <h4>New title</h4> <ul> <li>Some text</li> <li>Some text åäö</li> </ul> </div> </li> </ul> </div>

  • Having a problem inserting a foreign key data into a table using a PHP form

    - by Gideon
    I am newbee with PHP and MySQL and need help... I have two tables (Staff and Position) in the database. The Staff table (StaffId, Name, PositionID (fk)). The Position table is populated with different positions (Manager, Supervisor, and so on). The two tables are linked with a PositionID foreign key in the Staff table. I have a staff registration form with textfields asking for the relevant attributes and a dynamically populated drop down list to choose the position. I need to insert the user's entry into the staff table along with the selected position. However, when inserting the data, I get the following error (Cannot add or update a child row: a foreign key constraint fails). How do I insert the position selected by the user into the staff table? Here is some of my code... ... echo "<tr>"; echo "<td>"; echo "*Position:"; echo "</td>"; echo "<td>"; //dynamically populate the staff position drop down list from the position table $position="SELECT PositionId, PositionName FROM Position ORDER BY PositionId"; $exeposition = mysql_query ($position) or die (mysql_error()); echo "<select name=position value=''>Select Position</option>"; while($positionarray=mysql_fetch_array($exeposition)) { echo "<option value=$positionarray[PositionId]>$positionarray[PositionName]</option>"; } echo "</select>"; echo "</td>"; echo "</tr>" //the form is processed with the code below $FirstName = $_POST['firstname']; $LastName = $_POST['lastname']; $Address = $_POST['address']; $City = $_POST['city']; $PostCode = $_POST['postcode']; $Country = $_POST['country']; $Email = $_POST['email']; $Password = $_POST['password']; $ConfirmPass = $_POST['confirmpass']; $Mobile = $_POST['mobile']; $NI = $_POST['nationalinsurance']; $PositionId = $_POST[$positionarray['PositionId']]; //format the dob for the database $dobpart = explode("/", $_POST['dob']); $formatdob = $dobpart[2]."-".$dobpart[1]."-".$dobpart[0]; $DOB = date("Y-m-d", strtotime($formatdob)); $newReg = "INSERT INTO Staff (FirstName, LastName, Address, City, PostCode, Country, Email, Password, Mobile, DOB, NI, PositionId) VALUES ('".$FirstName."', '".$LastName."', '".$Address."', '".$City."', '".$PostCode."', '".$Country."', '".$Email."', '".$Password."', ".$Mobile.", '".$DOB."', '".$NI."', '".$PostionId."')"; Your time and help is surely appreciated.

  • Need to write at beginning of file with PHP

    - by Timothy
    I'm making this program and I'm trying to find out how to write data to the beginning of a file rather than the end. "a"/append only writes to the end, how can I make it write to the beginning? Because "r+" does it but overwrites the previous data. $datab = fopen('database.txt', "r+"); Here is my whole file: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <title>Facebook v0.1</title> <style type="text/css"> #bod{ margin:0 auto; width:800px; border:solid 2px black; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="bod"> <?php $fname = $_REQUEST['fname']; $lname = $_REQUEST['lname']; $comment = $_REQUEST['comment']; $datab = $_REQUEST['datab']; $gfile = $_REQUEST['gfile']; print <<<form <table border="2" style="margin:0 auto;"> <td> <form method="post" action=""> First Name : <input type ="text" name="fname" value=""> <br> Last Name : <input type ="text" name="lname" value=""> <br> Comment : <input type ="text" name="comment" value=""> <br> <input type ="submit" value="Submit"> </form> </td> </table> form; if((!empty($fname)) && (!empty($lname)) && (!empty($comment))){ $form = <<<come <table border='2' width='300px' style="margin:0 auto;"> <tr> <td> <span style="color:blue; font-weight:bold;"> $fname $lname : </span> $comment </td> </tr> </table> come; $datab = fopen('database.txt', "r+"); fputs($datab, $form); fclose($datab); }else if((empty($fname)) && (empty($lname)) && (empty($comment))){ print" please input data"; } // end table $datab = fopen('database.txt', "r"); while (!feof($datab)){ $gfile = fgets($datab); print "$gfile"; }// end of while ?> </div> </body> </html>

  • PHP-MySQL: Arranging rows from seperate tables together/Expression to determine row origin

    - by Koroviev
    I'm new to PHP and have a two part question. I need to take rows from two separate tables, and arrange them in descending order by their date. The rows do not correspond in order or number and have no relationship with each other. ---EDIT--- They each contain updates on a site, one table holds text, links, dates, titles etc. from a blog. The other has titles, links, specifications, etc. from images. I want to arrange some basic information (title, date, small description) in an updates section on the main page of the site, and for it to be in order of date. Merging them into one table and modifying it to suit both types isn't what I'd like to do here, the blog table is Wordpress' standard wp_posts and I don't feel comfortable adding columns to make it suit the image table too. I'm afraid it could clash with upgrading later on and it seems like a clumsy solution (but that doesn't mean I'll object if people here advise me it's the best solution). ------EDIT 2------ Here are the DESCRIBES of each table: mysql> describe images; +---------+--------------+------+-----+-------------------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +---------+--------------+------+-----+-------------------+----------------+ | id | int(11) | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | project | varchar(255) | NO | | NULL | | | title | varchar(255) | NO | | NULL | | | time | timestamp | NO | | CURRENT_TIMESTAMP | | | img_url | varchar(255) | NO | | NULL | | | alt_txt | varchar(255) | YES | | NULL | | | text | text | YES | | NULL | | | text_id | int(11) | YES | | NULL | | +---------+--------------+------+-----+-------------------+----------------+ mysql> DESCRIBE wp_posts; +-----------------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------------------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +-----------------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------------------+----------------+ | ID | bigint(20) unsigned | NO | PRI | NULL | auto_increment | | post_author | bigint(20) unsigned | NO | | 0 | | | post_date | datetime | NO | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | | post_date_gmt | datetime | NO | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | | post_content | longtext | NO | | NULL | | | post_title | text | NO | | NULL | | | post_excerpt | text | NO | | NULL | | | post_status | varchar(20) | NO | | publish | | | comment_status | varchar(20) | NO | | open | | | ping_status | varchar(20) | NO | | open | | | post_password | varchar(20) | NO | | | | | post_name | varchar(200) | NO | MUL | | | | to_ping | text | NO | | NULL | | | pinged | text | NO | | NULL | | | post_modified | datetime | NO | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | | post_modified_gmt | datetime | NO | | 0000-00-00 00:00:00 | | | post_content_filtered | text | NO | | NULL | | | post_parent | bigint(20) unsigned | NO | MUL | 0 | | | guid | varchar(255) | NO | | | | | menu_order | int(11) | NO | | 0 | | | post_type | varchar(20) | NO | MUL | post | | | post_mime_type | varchar(100) | NO | | | | | comment_count | bigint(20) | NO | | 0 | | +-----------------------+---------------------+------+-----+---------------------+----------------+ ---END EDIT--- I can do this easily with a single table like this (I include it here in case I'm using an over-elaborate method without knowing it): $content = mysql_query("SELECT post_title, post_text, post_date FROM posts ORDER BY post_date DESC"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($content)) { echo $row['post_date'], $row['post_title'], $row['post_text']; } But how is it possible to call both tables into the same array to arrange them correctly? By correctly, I mean that they will intermix their echoed results based on their date. Maybe I'm looking at this from the wrong perspective, and calling them to a single array isn't the answer? Additionally, I need a way to form a conditional expression based on which table they came from, so that rows from table 1 get echoed differently than rows from table 2? I want results from table 1 to be echoed differently (with different strings concatenated around them, I mean) for the purpose of styling them differently than those from table two. And vice versa. I know an if...else statement would work here, but I have no idea how can I write the expression that would determine which table the row is from. All and any help is appreciated, thanks.

  • Output a php multi-dimensional array to a html table

    - by Fireflight
    I have been banging my head against the wall with this one for nearly a week now, and am no closer than I was the first day. I have a form that has 8 columns and a variable number of rows which I need to email to the client in a nicely formatted email. The form submits the needed fields as a multidimensional array. Rough example is below: <input name="order[0][topdiameter]" type="text" id="topdiameter0" value="1" size="5" /> <input name="order[0][bottomdiameter]" type="text" id="bottomdiameter0" value="1" size="5" /> <input name="order[0][slantheight]" type="text" id="slantheight0" value="1" size="5" /> <select name="order[0][fittertype]" id="fittertype0"> <option value="harp">Harp</option> <option value="euro">Euro</option> <option value="bulbclip">Regular</option> </select> <input name="order[0][washerdrop]" type="text" id="washerdrop0" value="1" size="5" /> <select name="order[0][fabrictype]" id="fabrictype"> <option value="linen">Linen</option> <option value="pleated">Pleated</option> </select> <select name="order[0][colours]" id="colours0"> <option value="beige">Beige</option> <option value="white">White</option> <option value="eggshell">Eggshell</option> <option value="parchment">Parchment</option> </select> <input name="order[0][quantity]" type="text" id="quantity0" value="1" size="5" /> This form is formatted in a table, and rows can be added to it dynamically. What I've been unable to do is get a properly formatted table out of the array. This is what I'm using now (grabbed from the net). <?php if (isset($_POST["submit"])) { $arr= $_POST['order'] echo '<table>'; foreach($arr as $arrs) { echo '<tr>'; foreach($arrs as $item) { echo "<td>$item</td>"; } echo '</tr>'; } echo '</table>; }; ?> This works perfectly for a single row of data. If I try submitting 2 or more rows from the form then one of the columns disappears. I'd like the table to be formatted as: | top | Bottom | Slant | Fitter | Washer | Fabric | Colours | Quantity | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |value| value | value | value | value | value | value | value | with additional rows as needed. But, I can't find any examples that will generate that type of table! It seems like this should be something fairly straightforward, but I just can't locate an example that works the way I need it too.

Each of the results from the query will contain a row 'GATE' with a value of (0-3), but there will not be any predictability to those results. One query could pull 4 rows with 'GATE' values of 0,1,2,3, the next query could pull two rows with values of 1 & 2, or 1 & 3. I need to be able to populate this HTML table with values that correspond. So HTML COL 0 would have the TTL_NET_SALES of the db row which also has the GATE value of 0. <?php $gate = array(0,1,2,3); $gate_n = count($gate); /* Database = my_table.ID my_table.TT_NET_SALES my_table.GATE my_table.LOCKED */ $locked = "SELECT * FROM my_table WHERE locked = true"; $locked_n = count($locked); /* EXAMPLE RETURN Row 1: my_table['ID'] = 1 my_table['TTL_NET_SALES'] = 1000 my_table['GATE'] = 1; Row 2: my_table['ID'] = 2 my_table['TTL_NET_SALES'] = 1500 my_table['GATE'] = 3; */ print "<table border='1'>"; print "<tr><td>0</td><td>1</td><td>2</td><td>3</td>"; print "<tr>"; for ($i=0; $i<$locked_n; $i++) { for ($g=0; $g<$gate_n; $g++) { if (!is_null($locked['TTL_NET_SALES'][$i]) && $locked['GATE'][$i] == $gate[$g]) { print "<td>$".$locked['TTL_NET_SALES'][$i]."</td>"; } else { print "<td>-</td>"; } } } print "</tr>"; print "</table>"; /* What I want to see: <table border='1'> <tr> <td>0</td> <td>1</td> <td>2</td> <td>3</td> </tr> <tr> <td>-</td> <td>1000</td> <td>-</td> <td>1500</td> </tr> </table> */ ?>

  • Create dropdown from multi array + PHP class

    - by chris
    Hi there, Well, I am writing class that creates a DOB selection dropdown. I am having figure out the dropdown(), it seems working but not exactly. Code just creates one drop down, and under this dropdown all day, month and year data are in one selection. like: <label> <sup>*</sup>DOB</label> <select name="form_bod_year"> <option value=""/> <option selected="" value="0">1</option> <option value="1">2</option> <option value="2">3</option> <option value="3">4</option> <option value="4">5</option> <option value="5">6</option> .. <option value="29">30</option> <option value="30">31</option> <option value="1">January</option> <option value="2">February</option> .. <option value="11">November</option> <option value="12">December</option> <option selected="" value="0">1910</option> <option value="1">1911</option> .. <option value="98">2008</option> <option value="99">2009</option> <option value="100">2010</option> </select> Here is my code, I wonder that why all datas are in one selection. It has to be tree selction - Day:Month:Year. //dropdown connector class DropDownConnector { var $dropDownsDatas; var $field_label; var $field_name; var $locale; function __construct($dropDownsDatas, $field_label, $field_name, $locale) { $this-dropDownsDatas = $dropDownsDatas; $this-field_label = $field_label; $this-field_name = $field_name; $this-locale = $locale; } function getValue(){ return $_POST[$this-field_name]; } function dropdown(){ $selectedVal = $this-getValue($this-field_name); foreach($this-dropDownsDatas as $keys=$values){ foreach ($values as $key=$value){ $selected = ($key == $selectedVal ? "selected" : "" ); $options .= sprintf('%s',$key,$value); }; }; return $select_start = "$this-field_desc".$options.""; } function getLabel(){ $non_req = $this-getNotRequiredData(); $req = in_array($this-field_name, $non_req) ? '' : '*'; return $this-field_label ? $req . $this-field_label : ''; } function __toString() { $id = $this-field_name; $label = $this-getLabel(); $field = $this-dropdown(); return 'field_name.'"'.$label.''.$field.''; } } function generateForm ($lang,$country_list,$states_list,$days_of_month,$month_list,$years){ $xx = array( 'form_bod_day' = $days_of_month, 'form_bod_month' = $month_list, 'form_bod_year' = $years); echo $dropDownConnector = new DropDownConnector($xx,'DOB','bod','en-US'); } // Call php class to use class on external functionss. $avInq = new formGenerator; $lang='en-US'; echo generateForm ($lang,$country_list,$states_list,$days_of_month,$month_list,$years);

  • merge 2 php arrays which aren't of the same length by value

    - by Iain Urquhart
    Excuse me if this has indeed been asked before, I couldn't see anything that fitted my needs out of the dozens of similar titled posts out there ;) I'm trying to merge 2 php arrays which aren't of the same length, and merge them on a value that exists from identical key = values within both arrays. My first query produces an array from a nested set: array ( 1 => array ( 'node_id' => 1, 'lft' => 1, 'rgt' => 4, 'moved' => 0, 'label' => 'Home', 'entry_id' => 1, 'template_path' => '', 'custom_url' => '/', 'extra' => '', 'childs' => 1, 'level' => 0, 'lower' => 0, 'upper' => 0 ), 2 => array ( 'node_id' => 2, 'lft' => 2, 'rgt' => 3, 'moved' => 0, 'label' => 'Home', 'entry_id' => NULL, 'template_path' => '', 'custom_url' => 'http://google.com/', 'extra' => '', 'childs' => 0, 'level' => 1, 'lower' => 0, 'upper' => 0 ) ); My second array returns some additional key/values I'd like to insert to the above array: array ( 'entry_id' => 1, 'entry_title' => 'This is my title', ); I want to merge both of the arrays inserting the additional information into those that match on the key 'entry_id', as well as keeping the sub arrays which don't match. So, by combining the two arrays, I'd end up with array ( 1 => array ( 'node_id' => 1, 'lft' => 1, 'rgt' => 4, 'moved' => 0, 'label' => 'Home', 'entry_id' => 1, 'template_path' => '', 'custom_url' => '/', 'extra' => '', 'childs' => 1, 'level' => 0, 'lower' => 0, 'upper' => 0, 'entry_title' => 'This is my title' ), 2 => array ( 'node_id' => 2, 'lft' => 2, 'rgt' => 3, 'moved' => 0, 'label' => 'Home', 'entry_id' => NULL, 'template_path' => '', 'custom_url' => 'http://google.com/', 'extra' => '', 'childs' => 0, 'level' => 1, 'lower' => 0, 'upper' => 0, 'entry_title' => NULL ) ); Actually, writing this out makes me think I should do it via sql... Any help/advice greatly appreciated...
