• Magento 1.4 Load By Category Not Working

  Hi folks. I have a Magento helper class I wrote that works wonderfully in 1.3. However, we're working on a new install of 1.4 and filtering by category won't work for some reason. function __construct() { Mage::app(); $this-model = Mage::getModel('catalog/product'); $this-collection = $this-model-getCollection(); $this-collection-addAttributeToFilter('status', 1);//enabled $this-collection-addAttributeToSelect('*'); } function filterByCategoryID($catID) { $this-collection-addCategoryFilter(Mage::getModel('catalog/category')-load($catID)); } I can't figure out why this isn't working in 1.4. Has anyone else come into this issue?

• Length of data returned from CGImageGetDataProvider is larger than expected

  I'm loading a grayscale png image and I want to access the underlying pixel data. However after I load get the pixel data via CGImageGetDataProvider, the length of the data returned is longer than expected. CCGDataProviderRef provider = CGDataProviderCreateWithFilename(cStr); CGImageRef image = CGImageCreateWithPNGDataProvider(provider, NULL, FALSE, kCGRenderingIntentDefault); mapWidth = CGImageGetWidth(image); mapHeight = CGImageGetHeight(image); lookupMap = CGDataProviderCopyData(CGImageGetDataProvider(image)); mapWidth comes out to 1804 and mapHeight comes out to 1005. The product of which is 1813020 When I call CFDataGetLength(lookupMap) the response is 1833120. Where are these extra 20100 bytes coming from? Any help here is much appreciated. Am I missing something about the underlying format of the image?

• Business applications suck, is there anything else out there?

  It seems most of the work is in business is applications like inventory, sales, banks, medical, human resources, government, insurance, document processing, file archiving etc. Would you agree? From my point of view business applications seem to occupy over 90% of the job offerings(because no one wants to work on those?). Furthermore, each big app I have worked on, the application itself sucked, like being paid in compensation for putting up with a bad code base and product. Seeing how those business apps seem to occupy most of the market, should one accept that this is just the sad reality of this business? Do you get to develop on projects that are more dynamic than those?

• the breakpoint will not currently be hit no symbols loaded

  I want to debug on the customer's machine (Windows Server 2003) to track a problem, and out product is based on .NET 2.0. I want to use DbgCLR.exe to debug a file AAA.dll, what I did is: install .NET 2.0 SDK on the customer's machine (to get the DbgCLR.exe) copy the symbol file AAA.pdb to the same directory with AAA.dll get the source file for AAA.dll the AAA.dll will be loaded by w3wp.exe, so in the DbgCLR Tools-Attach to Process, then I choose w3wp.exe File-Open-File open the source file and add a breakpoint in the function which will be callled but the breakpoint seems do no work because there is an warning icon on it and says : the breakpoint will not currently be hit. No symbols have been loaded for this document. On my computer (Windows XP) which has the debug version of whole source code, I did nearly the same thing as above but the different is: I attached aspnet_wp.exe to do the debug and it works What should I do to let it work on the customer's machine?

  Hello, I have a page of products and for each of them, I want to have a form that uses AJAX to update the session. I've done this bit - just providing background. I use the product's ID to create a different form class and name for each form, so each form is called something like this_form_name_567 and the next would be this_form_name_568 and so on. There is a submit button per form. I'm having trouble figuring out a) which event is best to use so that the correct form will be identified when a submit button is clicked, b) once clicked, how to then make sure the correct value is taken from a hidden field (unique ID) within the submitted form so that I can populate a line of code such as: $.post("compare_response.php", {compare_this: $("#compare_this").val()}, function(data){ } Any help would be greatly appreciated. • Howto read system informations in C++ on windows and linux?

  I need to read system information like cpu/ram/disks usage in C++. Maybe swap, network and process too but that's less important. It has probably been done thousand of times before so I first tried to search for a library. Someone here suggested SIGAR, which seems to fit my needs but is GPL and it is for inclusion in a proprietary product. So it's not an option here. I feel like it's something not that easy to implement, as it'll need testing on several platforms. So a library would be welcome. If you don't know of any library, could you point me in the right direction for both platforms?

  I'm trying to use a function to count the number of unique cells in a spreadsheet that, at the same time, meet multiple criteria. Given the following example: A B C QUANT STORE# PRODUCT 1 75012 banana 5 orange 6 56089 orange 3 89247 orange 7 45321 orange 2 apple 4 45321 apple In the example above, I need to know how many unique stores with a valid STORE# have received oranges OR apples. In the case above, the result should be 3 (stores 56089, 89247 and 45321). This is how I started to try solving the problem: =SUM(IF(FREQUENCY(B2:B9,B2:B9)>0,1)) The above formula will yield the number of unique stores with a valid store#, but not just the ones that have received oranges or bananas. How can I add that extra criteria?

• SQL Compact Edition 3.5 SP 1 - LockTimeOutException - how to debug?

  Intermittently in our app, we encounter LockTimeoutExceptions being throw from SQL CE. We've recently upgraded to 3.5 SP 1, and a number of them seem to have gone away, but we still do see them occasionally. I'm certain it's a bug in our code (which is multi-threaded) but I haven't been able to pin it down precisely. Does anyone have any good techniques for debugging this problem? The exceptions log like this (there's never a stack trace for these exceptions): SQL Server Compact timed out waiting for a lock. The default lock time is 2000ms for devices and 5000ms for desktops. The default lock timeout can be increased in the connection string using the ssce: default lock timeout property. [ Session id = 6,Thread id = 7856,Process id = 10116,Table name = Product,Conflict type = s lock (x blocks),Resource = DDL ] Our database is read-heavy, but does seldom writes, and I think I've got everything protected where it needs to be. EDIT: SQL CE already automatically uses NOLOCK http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms172398(sql.90).aspx

There have been questions about this before on stackoverflow, but the last one was over a year ago (over 400 answers), which is where I got the products listed above.   I have a keyup event on an input. This event works fine for auto complete when you select a value and press enter. But it doesn't work when you click at an auto complete value. Is there an event that i can use in such case? I already tried the change one but it doesn't work. Thanks! Edit: Maybe i was not clear but i am referring to the autocomplete feature that browsers have. I am not trying to build my own. Example: I have the following event: $('.product').keyup(searchByProduct); When user clicks at this input the old values that he already typed shows up ( it's the browser that does this ). If he clicks on one of the values, the function searchByProduct is not called. Which event do i have to register to track this click ( and that the input content has changed )?

• Does anyone know of a way to easily convert a PDF to a docx format programmatically

  We have a couple 3rd party systems that give us PDFs. We would like to convert those PDFs for display on the web without using an Adobe product. Ideally we would like to use Silverlight to render the PDFs but are having trouble converting from a PDF to Xaml or using docx format as a middle man. There are lots of libraries that give PDFs but that is not what we need. If there is a library out there that does this, a .net lib would be preferable but we can run the conversion using the command line as well if that is an option.

  There are many questions on StackOverflow about this, but no definitive answer. I have a REST resource where an entity's field, ProductId, is sent. If the ProductId passed is invalid, what kind of response would you do? I want to send the right response code plus information to the requester on what they can do to fix it. Initial thoughts were 422 with the body containing the list of errors in JSON/XML format. • How do I write a Photoshop Extension (8BX) plugin?

  The Adobe Photoshop CS3/4 SDk has a lot of examples for Filter, Import, Export etc plugins but I havent found anything that illustrates how to write a 8BX plugin. Reason I need to write one is to add a new drop down menu to the Photoshop root toolbar (where it displays File, Edit, Image .. Window. Help drop down menus). I have seen product like OneSoftware install an 8BX plugin into Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\Extensions directory that causes PS to add adrop down menu for OneSoft. That suggest this is a solvable problem :-) I tried by changing an existing plugin in the SDlK samples but no go. Specifically i modified the resource file: resource 'PiPL' (ResourceID, plugInName " PiPL", purgeable) { { Kind { **Extension** }, Name { plugInName "..." }, ... Despite using the Extension Kind , PS never loads the plugin. It doesnt generate any compile time or load error either. Anyone has ideas on how to go about doing this ? Thanks

  As part of my Installer, I am adding files to an existing COM+ package. I have defined a ComPlusApplication underneath my Product element, which has the name set to a property - I then have a custom action which looks up that property - all good so far. When the installer adds the files, within the same component I have added a ComPlusAssembly which adds the assembly to the ComPlusApplication I defined above - this is also working correctly. When uninstalled however, I am receiving an error related to being unable to find the COM+ application, this is because I am not running my custom action to look up the name of the COM+ package. Basically I do not want to remove my files or unregister the component package as part of the uninstallation process - How do I achieve this? I am using WiX 3.0 with VS2008. Thanks

• Error 2908 when installing assemblies into GAC

  Hi, I'm receiving 2908 (0x80131047: The given assembly name or code-base is invalid) error when running my MSI package. The problem occures when the MSI tries to deploy a component with .NET assembly into a GAC. NOTE: only assemblies with dependencies fail. The MSI is created with IS 2010. I am able to deploy the assembly manually with GACUTIL. I verified .NET Framework (all versions upto 3,5)is installed. I verified assembly properties are identical with MsiAssemblyName table properties. However, somehow I had made the installation working fine before. But when the product was moved to Visual Studio 2008 and .NET 3.0 I started facing the problem. Do you guys have any thought on this. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks much!
