• Is there a standard mapping between JSON and Protocol Buffers?

    - by Daniel Earwicker
From a comment on the announcement blog post: Regarding JSON: JSON is structured similarly to Protocol Buffers, but protocol buffer binary format is still smaller and faster to encode. JSON makes a great text encoding for protocol buffers, though -- it's trivial to write an encoder/decoder that converts arbitrary protocol messages to and from JSON, using protobuf reflection. This is a good way to communicate with AJAX apps, since making the user download a full protobuf decoder when they visit your page might be too much. It may be trivial to cook up a mapping, but is there a single "obvious" mapping between the two that any two separate dev teams would naturally settle on? If two products supported PB data and could interoperate because they shared the same .proto spec, I wonder if they would still be able to interoperate if they independently introduced a JSON reflection of the same spec. There might be some arbitrary decisions to be made, e.g. should enum values be represented by a string (to be human-readable a la typical JSON) or by their integer value? So is there an established mapping, and any open source implementations for generating JSON encoder/decoders from .proto specs?

  • How to Import XML generated by TFPT into Excel 2007?

    - by keerthivasanp
    Below is the xml content generated by TFPT for the WIQL issued. When I try to import this XML into Excel 2007 XML source pane shows only "Id", "RefName" and "Value" as fields to be mapped. Whereas I would like to display System.Id, System.State, Microsoft.VSTS.Common.ResolvedDate, Microsoft.VSTS.Common.StateChangeDate as column headings and corresponding value as rows. Any idea how to achieve this using XML import in Excel 2007. <WorkItems> <WorkItem Id="40100"> <Field RefName="System.Id" Value="40100" /> <Field RefName="System.State" Value="Closed" /> <Field RefName="Microsoft.VSTS.Common.ResolvedDate" Value="3/17/2010 9:39:04 PM" /> <Field RefName="Microsoft.VSTS.Common.StateChangeDate" Value="4/20/2010 9:15:32 PM" /> </WorkItem> <WorkItem Id="44077"> <Field RefName="System.Id" Value="44077" /> <Field RefName="System.State" Value="Closed" /> <Field RefName="Microsoft.VSTS.Common.ResolvedDate" Value="3/1/2010 4:26:47 PM" /> <Field RefName="Microsoft.VSTS.Common.StateChangeDate" Value="4/20/2010 7:32:12 PM" /> </WorkItem> </WorkItems> Thanks

Hi folks, I want to fetch data from the LinkedIn API for that I am using the Scribe library. All requests are giving me data as expected but when I tried two facet in the url then scribe is not able to get data from LinkedIn API. If I gave this URL : http://api.linkedin.com/v1/people-search?facets=location,network&facet=location,in:0 then it gives me proper result but if I entered this URL: http://api.linkedin.com/v1/people-search?facets=location,network&facet=location,in:0&facet=network,F i.e. URL containing multiple facets then it gives me this output: <error> <status>401</status> <timestamp>1292487039516</timestamp> <error-code>0</error-code> <message> [unauthorized].OAU:CiEgwWDkA5BFpNrc0RfGyVuSlOh4tig5kOTZ9q97qcXNrFl7zqk- Ts7DqRGaKDCV|94f13544-9844-41eb-9d53-8fe36535bbc3|*01|*01:1292487039:VseHXaJXM2gerxJyn6kHhIka7zw=</message> </error> Any kind of help to solve this will be appreciated.Thanks.

  • Delphi 2009 dbExpress and Interbase: Unicode migration steps and risks?

    - by mjustin
Currently, our database uses Win1252 as the only character encoding. We will have to support Unicode in the database tables soon, which means we have to perform this migration for four databases and around 80 Delphi applications which run in-house in a 24/7 environment. Are there recommendations for database migrations to UTF-8 (or UNICODE_FSS) for Delphi applications? Some questions listed below. Many thanks in advance for your answers! are there tools which help with the migration of the existing databases (sizes between 250 MB and 2 GB, no Blob fields), by dumping the data, recreating the database with UNICODE_FSS or UTF-8, and loading the data back? are there known problems with Delphi 2009, dbExpress and Interbase 7.5 related to Unicode character sets? would you recommend to upgrade the databases to Interbase 2009 first? (This upgrade is planned but does not have a high priority) can we simply migrate the database and Delphi will handle the Unicode character sets automatically, or will we have to change all character field types in every Datamodule (dfm and source code) too? which strategy would you recommend to work on the migration in parallel with the normal development and maintenance of the existing application? The application runs in-house so development and database administration is done internally. Update: one problem I found now is that there are two different persistent field types for Unicode and non Unicode character fields. For the existing database, dbExpress creates TStringField objects. For the Unicode database fields, dbExpress creates (or expects!) TWideStringField objects. This looks like a lot of work lies ahead. While we could try to avoid persistent fields (and add calculated fields at run time), Of course we would prefer a solution which does not require so many changes in existing units and DFM files.

  • How to use a Spring config file in a Maven dependency

    - by javamonkey79
    In dependency A I have the following: <beans> <bean id="simplePersonBase" class="com.paml.test.SimplePerson" abstract="true"> <property name="firstName" value="Joe" /> <property name="lastName" value="Smith" /> </bean> </beans> And then in project B, I add A as a dependency and have the following config: <beans xmlns="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans http://www.springframework.org/schema/beans/spring-beans.xsd"> <bean id="simplePersonAddress01" parent="simplePersonBase"> <property name="firstName" value="BillyBob" /> <property name="address" value="1060 W. Caused by: org.springframework.beans.factory.NoSuchBeanDefinitionException: No bean named 'simplePersonBase' is defined I am sure there is a way to do this, however, I have not found it. Does anyone know how?

  • PostgreSQL: BYTEA vs OID+Large Object?

    - by mlaverd
I started an application with Hibernate 3.2 and PostgreSQL 8.4. I have some byte[] fields that were mapped as @Basic (= PG bytea) and others that got mapped as @Lob (=PG Large Object). Why the inconsistency? Because I was a Hibernate noob. Now, those fields are max 4 Kb (but average is 2-3 kb). The PostgreSQL documentation mentioned that the LOs are good when the fields are big, but I didn't see what 'big' meant. I have upgraded to PostgreSQL 9.0 with Hibernate 3.6 and I was stuck to change the annotation to @Type(type="org.hibernate.type.PrimitiveByteArrayBlobType"). This bug has brought forward a potential compatibility issue, and I eventually found out that Large Objects are a pain to deal with, compared to a normal field. So I am thinking of changing all of it to bytea. But I am concerned that bytea fields are encoded in Hex, so there is some overhead in encoding and decoding, and this would hurt the performance. Are there good benchmarks about the performance of both of these? Anybody has made the switch and saw a difference?

  • Updating a Safari Extension?

    - by Ricky Romero
Hi there, I'm writing a simple Safari Extension, and I'm trying to figure out how to get the update mechanism working. Apple's documentation here is delightfully vague: http://developer.apple.com/safari/library/documentation/Tools/Conceptual/SafariExtensionGuide/UpdatingExtensions/UpdatingExtensions.html And here's my manifest, based on that documentation: <plist version="1.0"> <dict> <key>Extension Updates</key> <array> <dict> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>net.rickyromero.safari.shutup</string> <key>Team Identifier</key> <string>TMM5P68287</string> <key>CFBundleVersion</key> <string>1</string> <key>CFBundleShortVersionString</key> <string>1.0</string> <key>URL</key> <string>http://rickyromero.net/misc/SafariExtensions/ShutUp.safariextz</string> </dict> </array> </dict> </plist> I don't know where to get "YourCertifcateID," for example. And when I increment the values for CFBundleVersion and CFBundleShortVersionString, it doesn't trigger an update. I know Safari is hitting my manifest though, because I'm watching HTTP traffic. Thoroughly stumped. Any ideas, guys?

  • How to Create Element in XSLT When Copying Using Templates

    - by John Dumont
Hello, I'm trying to create an element in an XML where the basic content is copied and modified. My XML is something like <root> <node> <child>value</child> <child2>value2</child2> </node> <node2>bla</node2> </root> The number of children of node may change as well as the children of root. The XSLT should copy the whole content, modify some values and add some new. The copying and modifying is no problem: <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="2.0"> <xsl:output method="xml" encoding="UTF-8"/> <xsl:template match="@*|node()"> <xsl:copy> <xsl:apply-templates select="@*|node()"/> </xsl:copy> </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> (+ further templates for modifications). But how do I add a new element in this structure on some path, e.g. I want to add an element as the last element of the "node" node. The "node" element itself always exists.

  • Use web.sitemap to control page access

    - by Jakob Gade
    I was setting up permissions for pages in a ASP.NET website with <location> tags in web.config, something similar to this: <location path="Users.aspx"> <system.web> <authorization> <allow roles="Administrator"/> <deny users="*"/> </authorization> </system.web> </location> However, I also have a web.sitemap which basically contains the same information, i.e. which user roles can see/access which pages. A snippet from my web.sitemap: <siteMap xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/AspNet/SiteMap-File-1.0" > <siteMapNode title="Home"> ... lots of nodes here ... <siteMapNode url="users.aspx" roles="Administrator" title="users" description="Edit users" /> ... </siteMapNode> </siteMap> Is there some kind of nifty way of using web.sitemap only to configure access? The <location> tags are quite verbose, and I don't like having to duplicate this information.

  • How do I POST/GET from rails to API with Nestful?

    - by Angela
Hi, this is a pretty basic question but I'm not entirely clear how to do this. I am trying to use a third-party service that has web-based service. The service is called Postful. But I'm not clear what exactly to do? I've looked at ActiveResource (http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActiveResource/Base.html) and rest-client, but I'm still not clear exactly what steps, code, and files to create. I'm trying to use Nestful but I'm not entirely clear how to make this work. http://github.com/maccman/nestful http://www.postful.com/service/mail is one of the services (details found http://www.postful.com/developer/guide#rest ), but to upload an image I have to post the following (but I'm not sure how I actually do this?). Thanks! > http://www.postful.com/service/upload > > Be sure to include the Content-Type > and Content-Length headers and the > image itself as the body of the > request. > > POST /upload HTTP/1.0 Content-Type: > application/octet-stream > Content-Length: 301456 > > ... file content here ... > > If the upload is successful, you will > receive a response like the following: > > > <upload> >
> </upload>

  • process of connecting RTP with SIP via SDP & land lines

    - by TacB0sS
Hello to everyone, I have a problem with starting a media session and to combine it with my SIP client. I've designed a recursive SIP client that reuse the same request template to send the next requests to server, according to the acceptable sequences noted in the RFC's, and examples that I read. as far as I could tell the SIP part is working fine registers to server invites, and authenticates. I didn't complete any calls to clients yet because of the content header needs to be filled up (which I didn't yet so I get a 503 from the server which is OK I guess). for a long time I didn't know where to start with the media session, and slowly learned how to use the JMF and I've constructed an object that handles RTP transmitting, now I'm standing at the cross road, on the one hand I have my SIP signaling but it needs the SDP content header to complete the invite, and on the other I have the RTP which is knows how to p2p. For me to complete my design I require your help with the following questions: Is there an easy//a simple//an implemented way to convert the Audio/Video format from the JMF into SDP media headers? or even a generator that I would input all the parameters for the content header, and it would generate a content header fast, or do I have to implement this myself? Once I've finished constructing the SDK and the SIP is up and running and I get an OK response from the server (after ringing and all), how do I start the media session? do I connect p2p according to caller details I send in the SIP invite? If 2 is correct, then how does a connection to land lines would be? does land lines knows that once they send an OK back to server they listen/start RTP session on a specific port? Or did I get everything wrong? :-/ I really appreciate any help I could I get, I looked every where for answers but they are not clear, they ignore question 2 as if it was an obvious thing, but for me it just isn't. Thank in advance, Adam Zehavi.

  • Is it possible to convert a 40-character SHA1 hash to a 20-character SHA1 hash?

    - by ewitch
My problem is a bit hairy, and I may be asking the wrong questions, so please bear with me... I have a legacy MySQL database which stores the user passwords & salts for a membership system. Both of these values have been hashed using the Ruby framework - roughly like this: hashedsalt = Digest::SHA1.hexdigest("--#{Time.now.to_s}--#{login}--") hashedpassword = Digest::SHA1.hexdigest("#{hashedsalt}:#{password}") So both values are stored as 40-character strings (varchar(40)) in MySQL. Now I need to import all of these users into the ASP.NET membership framework for a new web site, which uses a SQL Server database. It is my understanding that the the way I have ASP.NET membership configured, the user passwords and salts are also stored in the membership database (in table aspnet_Membership) as SHA1 hashes, which are then Base64 encoded (see here for details) and stored as nvarchar(128) data. But from the length of the Base64 encoded strings that are stored (28 characters) it seems that the SHA1 hashes that ASP.NET membership generates are only 20 characters long, rather than 40. From some other reading I have been doing I am thinking this has to do with the number of bits per character/character set/encoding or something related. So is there some way to convert the 40-character SHA1 hashes to 20-character hashes which I can then transfer to the new ASP.NET membership data table? I'm pretty familiar with ASP.NET membership by now but I feel like I'm just missing this one piece. However, it may also be known that SHA1 in Ruby and SHA1 in .NET are incompatible, so I'm fighting a losing battle... Thanks in advance for any insight.

  • Makefile : Build in a separate directory tree

    - by Simone Margaritelli
My project (an interpreted language) has a standard library composed by multiple files, each of them will be built into an .so dynamic library that the interpreter will load upon user request (with an import directive). Each source file is located into a subdirectory representing its "namespace", for instance : The build process has to create a "build" directory, then when each file is compiling has to create its namespace directory inside the "build" one, for instance, when compiling std/io/network/tcp.cc he run an mkdir command with mkdir -p build/std/io/network The Makefile snippet is : STDSRC=stdlib/std/hashing/md5.cc \ stdlib/std/hashing/crc32.cc \ stdlib/std/hashing/sha1.cc \ stdlib/std/hashing/sha2.cc \ stdlib/std/io/network/http.cc \ stdlib/std/io/network/tcp.cc \ stdlib/std/io/network/smtp.cc \ stdlib/std/io/file.cc \ stdlib/std/io/console.cc \ stdlib/std/io/xml.cc \ stdlib/std/type/reflection.cc \ stdlib/std/type/string.cc \ stdlib/std/type/matrix.cc \ stdlib/std/type/array.cc \ stdlib/std/type/map.cc \ stdlib/std/type/type.cc \ stdlib/std/type/binary.cc \ stdlib/std/encoding.cc \ stdlib/std/os/dll.cc \ stdlib/std/os/time.cc \ stdlib/std/os/threads.cc \ stdlib/std/os/process.cc \ stdlib/std/pcre.cc \ stdlib/std/math.cc STDOBJ=$(STDSRC:.cc=.so) all: stdlib stdlib: $(STDOBJ) .cc.so: mkdir -p `dirname $< | sed -e 's/stdlib/stdlib\/build/'` $(CXX) $< -o `dirname $< | sed -e 's/stdlib/stdlib\/build/'`/`basename $< .cc`.so $(CFLAGS) $(LDFLAGS) I have two questions : 1 - The problem is that the make command, i really don't know why, doesn't check if a file was modified and launch the build process on ALL the files no matter what, so if i need to build only one file, i have to build them all or use the command : make path/to/single/file.so Is there any way to solve this? 2 - Any way to do this in a "cleaner" way without have to distribute all the build directories with sources? Thanks

  • Bad crypto error in .NET 4.0

    - by Andrey
Today I moved my web application to .net 4.0 and Forms Auth just stopped working. After several hours of digging into my SqlMembershipProvider (simplified version of built-in SqlMembershipProvider), I found that HMACSHA256 hash is not consistent. This is the encryption method: internal string EncodePassword(string pass, int passwordFormat, string salt) { if (passwordFormat == 0) // MembershipPasswordFormat.Clear return pass; byte[] bIn = Encoding.Unicode.GetBytes(pass); byte[] bSalt = Convert.FromBase64String(salt); byte[] bAll = new byte[bSalt.Length + bIn.Length]; byte[] bRet = null; Buffer.BlockCopy(bSalt, 0, bAll, 0, bSalt.Length); Buffer.BlockCopy(bIn, 0, bAll, bSalt.Length, bIn.Length); if (passwordFormat == 1) { // MembershipPasswordFormat.Hashed HashAlgorithm s = HashAlgorithm.Create( Membership.HashAlgorithmType ); bRet = s.ComputeHash(bAll); } else { bRet = EncryptPassword( bAll ); } return Convert.ToBase64String(bRet); } Passing the same password and salt twice returns different results!!! It was working perfectly in .NET 3.5 Anyone aware of any breaking changes, or is it a known bug? UPDATE: When I specify SHA512 as hashing algorithm, everything works fine, so I do believe it's a bug in .NET 4.0 crypto Thanks! Andrey

  • Firefox: Can I use a relative path in the BASE tag?

    - by Aaron Digulla
I have a little web project where I have many pages and an index/ToC file. The toc file is at the root of my project in toc.html. The pages are spread over a couple of subdirectories and include the toc with an iframe. The project doesn't need a web server, so I can create the HTML in a directory and browse it in my browser. The problem is that I'm running into XSS issues when JavaScript from the toc.html wants to call a function in a page (violation of the same origin policy). So I added base tags in the header with a relative URL to the directory in which toc.html. This works for Konqueror but in Firefox, I have to use absolute paths or the toc won't even display :( Here is an example:

Project 1

This is file is in a subdirectory page. Firefox won't even load it, saying that it can't find page/toc.html. Is there a workaround? I would really like to avoid absolute paths in my export to keep it the same everywhere (locally and when I upload it on the web server later).

This is my xml <PmhTreeAllow> <PmhTreeAllowname id='1' label ='Allow Text' isField='false'/> <PmhTreeAllowname id='2' label ='Document Link' isField='false'/> <PmhTreeAllowname id='3' label ='Test Results Entry'isField='false'/> <PmhTreeAllowname id='4' label ='Dummy' isField='false'/> </PmhTreeAllow> My Tilelist.. <mx:TileList id="tileList" width="160" height="100%" textAlign="left" horizontalScrollPolicy="off" verticalScrollPolicy="off" dataProvider="modelInstance.optionCollList}" columnCount="1" backgroundAlpha="0" borderStyle="none"itemRenderer="com.Frontend.views.treeStructure.myTileList" useRollOver="false" rowHeight="28" itemClick="tileItemClick(event)" columnWidth="150" selectedIndex="0" x="10" y="0"> Check box ItemRenderer.. <mx:CheckBox xmlns:mx="http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml" label="{data.@label}" selected="data.@isField}"/> Thanks in Advance Ashok

  • RSS feed created with PHP only shows the title in the feed reader

    - by James Simpson
I am using the following PHP code to generate the XML for an RSS feed, but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. No short description is displayed in the feed reader, all I see is the title of the article. Also, all of the articles say they were published at the same time. This is the first time I have tried to setup an RSS feed, so I'm sure I've made several stupid mistakes. $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM blog ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 10"); $date = date(DATE_RFC822); header('Content-type: text/xml'); echo ("\n"); echo ("
\n"); echo ("
\n"); echo ("
\n"); echo ("
\n"); echo ("
my website name
\n"); echo ("
the description
\n"); echo ("
\n"); echo ("
\n"); $ch=100; while ($a = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $headline = htmlentities(stripslashes($a['subject'])); $posturl = $a[perm_link]; $content = $a['post']; $date = date(DATE_RFC822, $a['posted']); echo ("
\n"); echo ("
$headline
\n"); echo ("
\n"); echo ("
$content
\n"); echo ("
\n"); echo ("
\n"); echo ("
\n"); } echo ("
\n"); echo ("
\n");

  • Android how to make button text bold when pressed or focussed

    - by stealthcopter
I want to change the text inside a button to be bold when the button is highlighted or pressed. I currently use a xml file to define the button and use the XML to change how it looks when pressed but I would like to do this without using an image. <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android">

</selector> I tried using something like the following, but it doesn't seem to ever get called. final Button btn_reset = (Button) findViewById(R.id.btn_reset); btn_reset.setOnClickListener(this); btn_reset.setOn(new OnFocusChangeListener() { @Override public void onFocusChange(View v, boolean hasFocus) { if (hasFocus){btn_reset.setTypeface(null, Typeface.BOLD);} else{btn_reset.setTypeface(null, Typeface.NORMAL);} } });

  • How do I fix my "Stream closed" error in spring-ws?

    - by mcherm
I have working code using the spring-ws library to respond to soap requests. I moved this code to a different project (I'm merging projects) and now it is failing. I would like to figure out the reason for the failure. The symptom I get is this: when the HTTP request arrives, spring begins handling the call. Then I get the following exception: org.springframework.ws.soap.saaj.SaajSoapEnvelopeException: Could not access envelope: java.io.IOException: Stream closed; nested exception is javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: java.io.IOException: Stream closed at org.springframework.ws.soap.saaj.SaajSoapMessage.getEnvelope(SaajSoapMessage.java:109) <<more lines that don't matter>> Caused by: java.io.IOException: Stream closed at java.io.PushbackInputStream.ensureOpen(PushbackInputStream.java:57) at java.io.PushbackInputStream.read(PushbackInputStream.java:116) at org.apache.xerces.impl.XMLEntityManager$RewindableInputStream.read(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.impl.XMLEntityManager.setupCurrentEntity(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.impl.XMLVersionDetector.determineDocVersion(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.parsers.XML11Configuration.parse(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.parsers.XML11Configuration.parse(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.parsers.XMLParser.parse(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.parsers.AbstractSAXParser.parse(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.jaxp.SAXParserImpl$JAXPSAXParser.parse(Unknown Source) at org.apache.xerces.jaxp.SAXParserImpl.parse(Unknown Source) at org.apache.axis.encoding.DeserializationContext.parse(DeserializationContext.java:227) at org.apache.axis.SOAPPart.getAsSOAPEnvelope(SOAPPart.java:696) ... 30 more Examining it in a debugger, it appears that spring successfully handles HTTP headers, but then when it begins to process the contents of the SOAP message itself, it chokes when reading the very first character of the body. Some googling for the error message suggests that the problem is that a PushbackInputStream which is apparently used for reading from the socket is read twice or perhaps has close() called and then is read afterward. It is happening inside of spring-ws, not my code, and since it worked fine before I moved the code to a new project it must have something to do with versions of spring, or something it uses like axis or xerces. But I can't find any differences in versions of these! Has anyone encountered this error before? Or do you have any suggestions of approaches I could take in troubleshooting this?

  • Playing a .TS file on iOS

    - by Jonathan Grynspan
We're working with some hardware that produces files in the .TS format, and we'd like to play them on an iOS device. (The files are internally consistent with what iOS supports--MPEG-4 video, AAC audio.) We've been investigating three options so far: Roll our own integrated HTTP Live Streaming server and serve up a faux M3U8 playlist from within the app. This... doesn't seem to want to play nice, and we've had mixed luck actually getting the .TS files to play on devices. Unwrap the MPEG-4 and AAC data from the TS file and re-wrap it as MP4. This, I'm told, is exceedingly difficult to do, and I haven't found anything useful online that could shed light on how to do it. We've got code in the pipeline to do it but it won't be ready until long after we need it. If we could do it, I could easily subclass NSURLProtocol and have it working within a matter of hours minutes. Use FFmpeg to implement option #2. FFmpeg seems like a possible solution but it isn't configured to build for iOS and I don't have the background to get it working (whereas the rest of our engineers don't have the Apple background needed.) I think #2 is our best bet, but as I don't know the ins and outs of MPEG-2 TS and MPEG-4, I don't have the ability to put it together myself. Does anybody have any insight into this problem? Perhaps some experience playing local TS files on iOS, or some tips on converting from TS to MP4?
