  • Running out of LowMem with Ubuntu PAE Kernel and 32GB of RAM

    I'm running a Java data import process on a 32-bit Ubuntu 10 PAE kernel machine. After running the process for a while, the oom-killer zaps my Java process. After some Googling and digging through docs, it looks like the system is running out of LowMem. I started the process for the third time and am watching free -lm show me Low: 464 386 77 with the free value (77MB) slowly decreasing. Why am I running out of lowmem and how do I increase it?   • Buffer requests in nginx while a symlink switches on backend

    In a release deployment I would like to buffer client requests that come to nginx(in reverse proxy) mode to be buffered for possibily 1-2 seconds while a pdsh request is sent to switch symlinks on the back end server to /var/www/html/current . After the switch is complete, I would want to release the buffering while avoiding a herd clash. Is this possible in nginx? Can someone help? Edit: The idea is not to loose requests and from nginx forums I've come to know that retries can sometimes results in CPU spins

  • Outlook 2010 sharing calendars and updating

    We recently purchased Outlook 2010 for our law firm. We have several secretaries that need to view all calendars and input information in each of them. We do not have Exchange. I did a test by creating a calendar on one computer and sharing it with another computer. On the second computer I created a calendar and shared it with the first computer. Everything seems to work, except when I put events on computer 1 calendar and look at computer 1 calendar on computer 2. I can not see anything. Any advice would help. Thanks

  • Secondary Monitor Flickers Off

    I have a Windows XP computer with two monitors attached. The secondary monitor occasionally flickers off and then back on. It kind of looks like it is going into power saving mode, then immediately exiting. I have tried swapping the two monitors, and this consistently happens on the whichever one is connected as the secondary one. The video card I am using is a "Gigabyte GeForce 9600GT 512MB Silent".

    On my reporting server the Security log shows large numbers of Logon/Logoff events, often 10 or more, when you run pretty much any report in the Report Manager. Is this normal or is it a classic sign of having the wrong setup? Some system details: Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2, virtual server running under VMWare). SQL Server 2005 SP3 Standard Edition, running databases, Report Manager, and Ananlysis Services cubes. No other major services on the machine (i.e. it's not a domain controller, Exchange server or anything like that). Any ideas, please, guys?

But now I only have ubuntu 10,04 on my laptop and because there is only one operating system on my laptop the grub window doesn't show up. I need it because sometimes I need to start my ubuntu in recovery mode with no graphics, I checked and grub is already installed, how can I activate it at start up ?     I have to run clamav on large files. I was wondering which command was the fastest between clamscan and clamdscan. But it seems that clamdscan is not working properly: it scans file larger than 1 GB. Could you guys help me find why the heck clamdscan isn't working ?   • Blackberry Won't Sync: Says Processing

    I have a blackberry storm 2 and I have it set up to sync, just like I've done with all the other ones in the company. They pull the address book/contacts from outlook, and aren't synced to an exchange server. I have everything setup and then when I hit synchronize it flashes "processing" the phone shows it trying to sync and then it is done in less than a second. It did warn me that the computer was not supplying enough power to charge the device and it said that I should make sure the drivers are correct. Also, I was warned that the device might not function properly down in the bottom right hand corner. Any ideas? I've uninstalled and reinstalled the blackberry software off the disc.

  • Ubuntu Server VM: copy paste?

    I've installed Ubuntu Server under Virtualbox just to get a nice little shell. I've also installed the VirtualBox "Guest Additions" and set "Shared Clipboard: Bidirectional". I still can't seem to get any copy-paste working. Am I missing something here? I've installed gpm which gives mouse support in server mode (no X), and allows copy-paste using the mouse, but still the VirtualBox integration doesn't work.

  • uTorrent error: Access is denied

    When I booted my computer today and opened up uTorrent it went on, as usual, to check the torrents that I had been running before. On one it returned an "Access is denied" error after it had been checked. I have absolutely no idea why this is happening as I was downloading the same torrent just the night before, and additionally because I have other torrents going in the same downloads folder and they do not have any such errors. It may be worth noting that on said defective torrent, there appear to be no seeds and no connected peers (of the 33 available) and three of the trackers appear to be inactive as well (those being Peer Exchange, Local Peer Discovery and DHT). I have rebooted a few times in an attempt to fix this problem, but to no success. I also tried a few times force rechecking / force starting but neither of those worked either. edit I booted today and it was working for whatever reason. thanks for all of the help anyways guys!

  • Authentication issues setting up iRedMail on Debian

    I'm setting up an exchange server using iRedMail. Following the official iRedMail installation guide (http://www.iredmail.org/install_iredmail_on_debian.html) and the Digital Ocean guide (https://www.digitalocean.com/community/articles/how-to-install-iredmail-on-ubuntu-12-04-x64) I was able to install iRedMail without any problems, so I have all the services up and running. I can configure domains and emails using iRedAdmin BUT I have problem both sending and receiving email, what I get from Roundcube is 'Authentication error' when trying to send an email. Also I can't receive anything. I also tried to connect to the mx server using telnet, it connects, but after the STARTTLS command, when I start to write "MAIL FROM:" the connection is lost. Something in the configuration is not working (at the moment I have the configuration written by the iRedMail installation) but I do not know where, I hope someone can enlight me! Thank you

  • Fix single entry from mbr

    I use EasyBCD to manage my tripleboot of (1) Windows Server 2008 R2, (2) Windows 7 Professional and (3) Ubuntu Linux. While trying to change the order of my boot menu I ended up losing the Windows Server entry. Luckily I had a boot menu backup (.bcd file) that allowed me to restore my boot menu using EasyBCD. However, when I now select the Windows Server option in my boot menu the Windows Server Recovery Environment starts up. So I have to select language/keyboard layout/etc. and then I have 3 options as shown in the image below. . My goal is to fix the one corrupted Windows Server entry from my boot menu without messing up or losing the two other ones. I'm guessing the Recovery Console (Command Prompt) is the next step and that I will be needing bootrec.exe. But when consulting this page: Use the Bootrec.exe tool in the Windows Recovery Environment to troubleshoot and repair startup issues in Windows (about half way down there's a link that shows the bootrec.exe options) I'm getting uncertain. The page lists 4 options for bootrec.exe : /FixMbr /FixBoot /ScanOs /RebuildBcd What option do I need to fix just the server entry of my boot menu? Thanks in advance, Sander P.S. All three OS's are on the same physical disk (3 different partitions). Disk layout: System reserved (primary partition, 100 MB) Windows 7 (primary parition, 150 GB) Windows Server 2008 (primary partition, 150 GB) Extended partition (linux partitions (/,/swap,/home), 150GB + data partition, 150 GB) P.P.S. This is what my boot menu looks like using EasyBCD (Detailed/Debug mode) on my Windows 7 installation.     I am new to ESXi, I am going to be using a hard disk attached to my VM with Raw device mappings that connects back to our SAN. What are the recommended options to choose? Where to store the LUN mappings, on the VM or with the Datastore? What compatibility mode to use physical or virtual? We are going to be using this for database server in our dev environment.

  • eAccelerator problems. Please help

    I just recently installed eaccelerator and switched php to dso everything was fine on server Server load was about 1-2 (4 cpus) and after some time server got overloaded (Server load increased to 250) and server stopped. In suphp mode server was overloading by traffic so i decided to switch it to eaccelerator and now i am lost... Can someone explain that?
