• ruby-debug with Pow -- breakpoints never hit

  I'm trying to use ruby-debug with Pow. Rails 3 app. I have done everything here: https://gist.github.com/1098830 I've restarted the server and machine several times. I can get rdebug to connect: ? rdebug -c Connected. but it never stops at the breakpoints. Any idea what could be going on? • How do I set up one time password authentication?

  I have a home network which I access remotely quite a bit. But I'm worried about security. While I do have strong passwords, I'm worried that someone will acquire my password and use it to gain access. I heard about "one time passwords" and even got to use them at my university. We'd just press a button on a device (or run an application on a phone) and get a generated password that would work for the next minute or so. How can I set something like that up? Are there systems that are easy to use and set up? Has anyone played around with an SDK of one of these systems? Where can I get a starter kit from? EDIT: I'm running a mixed Linux and Windows network, and I'm vaguely hoping to use this for authenticating on both operating systems. (No, there's no domain controller, but I can set one up using Samba, I suppose.)

• Setting the content-type of requests performed by jQuery jqGrid

  I am using the latest version of jqGrid: 3.6.4 This seems like a simple problem (or at least it did before I spent a few hours on it): When the grid sends a request to the server (to a controller action), its content-type is always: application/x-www-form-urlencoded; charset=UTF-8 and I would like it to be: application/json; charset=utf-8 but I can find no way of setting the content-type (there is no contentType option as you would find on a $.ajax call for example). So just to clarify, I am not asking how to set the content-type on a jQuery server request, but specifically using jqGrid, which does not provide an obvious option for doing this. Thanks, Nigel.

  In my MVC application I have a Controller Action that Deletes a customer, which I'm applying Claims Based Authorization to using WIF. Problem: if someone doesn't have access they see an exception in the browser (complete with stacktrace), but I'd rather just redirect them. • TFS and code coverage for web application (MVC) assemblies not working

  I've got an MVC web application with associated controller tests that run under a TFS build as per normal. I can see the tests running and passing in the build log and they appear in the "Result details for Any CPU/Release" section of the build I also have a number of other assemblies with associated tests that are running in the same build. Tests are passing and the details are being shown in the results and logs just fine. I've enabled code coverage in the build script and the testrunconfig. The coverage is appearing for all assemblies EXCEPT the web application even though it looks like the tests have been run for it. Is there anything obvious that I have missed or some sort of work around that I need to do? I've searched around for a while and haven't found an answer. Has anyone got code coverage working for MVC web applications?

• How do you handle the deletion of your model working with ViewModels and keeping them in sync ?

  Hello, these could be my entity relations: 1 Pupil has 1 Chair 1 Pupil has N Documents 1 Pupil has N Marks 1 Pupil has N IncidentReports etc... So with that sample I get 4 IEnumerable from my database put each into an ObservableCollection. Now I have 4 different Views each bound to one of those 4 collections. Lets assume I delete a single PupilViewModel in the AdministrationController which is the only View where I can delete a PupilViewModel. Now I have to inform 3 other Controller and their ObservableCollections about the one deleted PupilViewModel to keep the whole application synchronized... thats stupid somehow. Do you have any good advice on that scenario? AND it gets even worse. If I delete a schoolclass I have to sync the pupils everywhere AND the documents or incidentreports or marks... gush... o_O

• Open Flash Chart on Zend MVC Error

  I recently downloaded the Open Flash Chart source code and I have intergrated it into my Zend MVC.Since I use the autoloader I have renamed my files and commented the "require_once" source lines. However when I try to load my chart <script type="text/javascript"> swfobject.embedSWF( "<?php echo $this->baseUrl() ?>/swf/open-flash-chart.swf", "my_chart", "550", "200", "9.0.0", "<?php echo $this->baseUrl() ?>/swf/expressInstall.swf", {"data-file":"<?php echo $this->baseUrl()?>/reportexpense/piechart/"} ); </script> it loads the "/data-files/y-axis-auto-steps.txt" instead and I cant figure out why. My controller returns the JSON string which I expect to be rendered. What am I missing?

  In my Core Data app I am using a FetchedResultsController. Usually to set titles for headers in a UITableView you would implement the following method like so: - (NSString *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView titleForHeaderInSection:(NSInteger)section { id <NSFetchedResultsSectionInfo> sectionInfo = [[<#Fetched results controller#> sections] objectAtIndex:section]; return [sectionInfo name]; } where [sectionInfo name] returns a NSString. my sectionKeyPath is based on an NSDate and this all works fine apart from the section headers it gives me are the raw date description strings (e.g. 12/12/2009 12:32:32 +0100) which look a bit of a mess in a header! So I want to use a date formatter on this to make a nice header like "Apr 17 2010" but I can't do that with the [sectionInfo name] as this is NSString! Any Ideas? Many Thanks

• Doctrine lazy loading classes takes 100 ms?!

  I'm lazy loading my Doctrine classes in my website. Benchmarking has showed that Doctrine::loadModels('models') takes over 100 ms to complete! I have 118 tables in total, but still... setting attribute to conservative loading: Doctrine_Manager::getInstance()->setAttribute(Doctrine::ATTR_MODEL_LOADING, Doctrine::MODEL_LOADING_CONSERVATIVE); running the benchmark part: $CI->benchmark->mark('Doctrineload_start'); Doctrine::loadModels(APPPATH.'models'); $CI->benchmark->mark('Doctrineload_end'); And the result: Doctrineload 0.1085 (seconds) Is this 'normal'? • Weird in my UIImagePickerController with camera

  Hi everyone: I met a problem on using camera by scratch on iphone. Other people's code just run fine on my 3GS. But my code doesn't. When I implemented a UIViewController controller, and I add the following code in viewdidload: UIImagePickerController *picker = [UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; picker.source = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera; picker.delegate = self; //Previously added all the delegate properly [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; Nothing comes out. I checked in the debugger, it shows that the picker is allocated, but here is the major difference between my and success one. picker._imagepickerflag.visible = 0; //others show 1; picker.UINavigationController._containerView: 0x0 ; // others have value. • How to setup default attributes in a ruby model

  I have a model User and when I create one, I want to pragmatically setup some API keys and what not, specifically: @user.apikey = Digest::MD5.hexdigest(BCrypt::Password.create("jibberish").to_s) I want to be able to run User.create!(:email=>"[email protected]") and have it create a user with a randomly generated API key, and secret. I currently am doing this in the controller, but when I tried to add a default user to the seeds.rb file, I am getting an SQL error (saying my apikey is null). I tried overriding the save definition, but that seemed to cause problems when I updated the model, because it would override the values. I tried overriding the initialize definition, but that is returning a nil:NilClass and breaking things. Is there a better way to do this?

• Change NSNumber value by allocating new NSNumber?

  I understand that NSNumber is immutable, but I still have the need to change it in my app. I use it because it's an object, and therefore usable with @property (if I could, I would use float or CGFloat in a heartbeat, but sadly, I can't). Is there any way to just overwrite the old NSNumber instance? I'm trying this: NSNumber *zero = [[NSNumber alloc] initWithFloat:0.0]; myNSNumber = zero but this doesn't change the value. This is a simplified version of my code, as I'm changing the root view controller's parameter (I know, not MVC-friendly). Still, the changing of the value should be the same assignment, right? Should I release myNSNumber first? What should I set the @property at for myNSNumber? Thanks!

• MonoRail - Select parent category from one dropdown, show child category dropdown

  Hey, I'm new to MonoRail and am trying to figure out how to have it so that I can select a parent category in a dropdown then have it show a second dropdown with the categories that are children of the parent. If I were using what I'm used to, ASP.NET MVC, I would have a javascript function that would be called onchange of the first dropdown and would make an ajax call to a controller method (passing in the selected parent category id) that would grab all child categories of that parent category and return them in JSON. Then in the callback javascript function I would eval the JSON and populate the second dropdown with the child categories. How would I do this using MonoRail/jQuery? • Validate a belongs to association in a build situation.

  I have a Mission model that has_many Task, and the Task belongs_to Mission For security I've made this validation on the Task Model: validates_presence_of :mission_id validates_numericality_of :mission_id But the problem is that when create a Mission and add tasks like this: @mission.tasks.build The validation returns error, because the mission id on the task is null ( the mission wasn't yet created ) If I delete the validation, the Mission and Task is created successfuly, but how can I keep the validation and still have this work? I could do a callback after the save, but I don't think that's right, because I don't want to save Tasks without a mission_id. P.S. I'm hidding my mission field on the form. If I have it visible, it will show the currect mission and everything is ok. But if I hidde it the error happens. <%= f.hidden_field :mission, :label => "Missão" %> Is the form reseting the attributes given by the controller on the new action?

• Unit Testing Codeigniter Classes with fooStack - clashes

  I'm having 'fun' testing interactions in a CodeIgniter based web app. It seems when running the entire test suite "phpunit AllTests.php" it loads all of the test classes, their targets (Systems under Test) and creates a PHPUnit_Framework_TestSuite instance which presumably iterates over the classes which extend CIUnit_TestCase and runs them. The problem comes where you have multiple classes referencing another class (such as a library). As all the classes are loaded into the same process space, PHP reports "cannot redefine class xyz". Have I missed something here or doing something haenously wrong? In my test class i'm doing something like: include_once dirname(__FILE__).'/../CIUnit.php'; include_once dirname(__FILE__).'/../../libraries/ProductsService.php'; class testProductsService extends CIUnit_TestCase { public function testGetProducts_ReturnsArrayOfProducts(){ $service = new ProductsService(); $products = $service->getProducts(); $this->assertTrue(is_array($products)); } } The problem manifests as I have a controller which does: $this->load->library('ProductsService');

Allow a user to specifiy a connection string to a sql db Allow a user to specify a table in the db Allow a user to specify columns from the specified table Generate Views & a Controller with Crud methods on the fly for the specified table columns in a subdirectory on the current web app. I'm aware that there are apps that currently do this (such as sharepoints list creation stuff), but i'd like to see how this was accomplished and recreate it for my own learning purposes.   Hello, I started to learn using Instrument, but I cannot figure it out.   Hi, I have a screen with a webView in my navigation controller stack and when I navigate from this view back to a previous before the page completely loaded I get a EXCEPTION_BAD_ACCESS. Seems, that the view with a webView being released before it comes to webViewDidFinishLoad function. My question is how to overcome this problem? I don't expect from the user to wait till the page loads... • iPhone UITableView trigger a parent method?

  Okay, so I'm working on an iPhone app with a preferences-esque section where there's a base TableView, which has one section, and several rows of customized cells to hold a name and a value label. Clicking on a row brings up another View, which allows the user to pick from a list (another TableView), and select an item. All of these TableViews are done programatically. The base TableView has a property that holds a Controller instance for each of the "pick from the list" Views. Each of the "pick from the list" views has a property called chosenValue that has the currently-selected option. I've gotten the UI to handle the didSelectRowAtIndexPath to update the chosenValue property and then "pop" the view (going back to the main TableView). But, even though the main TableView's cellForRowAtIndexPath method references the chosenValue property of the subview that's held in a property, the view doesn't update when an item is selected. In short, how can the sub-view trigger a reloadData on the parent object, after it "pops" and unloads?

• How do I render the scrollable regions of a canvas with IViewObject::Draw?

  Hi, I've been trying to render the entire canvas in an IWebBrowser2 control to a bitmap. IViewObject::Draw seems to be the most promising approach, but I can't get it to render anything that would requires a scroll to show. While I could automate the scrolling and stitch the images together, this would look weird with any fixed position elements. Is this even doable? Additionally, I've tried to set the controller's size to one that would allow the entire contents to display without needing to scroll, but Windows caps the max size to the current screen resolution, so that only gets me partially there. Any help would be much appreciated. I'm currently doing this in the context of Win7 and IE8, but I don't think that should matter much.

• Zend Framework - tinyMCE - plugin folders are mistaken to be controllers? Help

  Hi guys I'm trying to integrate the tinymce plugin however I'm running into problems such that almost every feature which requires a plugin to be rendered i.e the add url popup or add image pop up - it opens an empty pop up window. Even if I try to open it inline I get the same blank popup window.. I noticed that whenever I click on lets say url button in tinymCE it opens with reference to my localhost and because of that I'm assuming my application is mistaking the containing javascript folder to be some controller or action. How can I fix this please - I've set up mod rewrite to allow clean urls as well as ignore the javascript folder but this is a different issue altogether :( what should I be looking at here.. I can't notice any error sin firebug..
