• Is there an optimal way to render images in cocoa? Im using setNeedsDisplay

  Currently, any time I manually move a UIImage (via handling the touchesMoved event) the last thing I call in that event is [self setNeedsDisplay], which effectively redraws the entire view. My images are also being animated, so every time a frame of animation changes, i have to call setNeedsDisplay. I find this to be horrific since I don't expect iphone/cocoa to be able to perform such frequent screen redraws very quickly. Is there an optimal, more efficient way that I could be doing this? Perhaps somehow telling cocoa to update only a particular region of the screen (the rect region of the image)?

  I have a class derived from QGraphicsView, which contains QGraphicsItem-derived elements. I want these elements to change color whenever the mouse cursor hovers over them, so I implemented hoverEnterEvent (and hoverLeaveEvent): void MyGraphicsItem::hoverEnterEvent(QGraphicsSceneHoverEvent* event) { update (boundingRect()); } However, this event handler code is never executed. • Swing Timer in Conjunction with Possible Long-running Background Task

  I need to perform a task repeatedly that affects both GUI-related and non GUI-related objects. One caveat is that no action should performed if the previous task had not completed when the next timer event is fired. My initial thoughts are to use a SwingTimer in conjunction with a javax.swing.SwingWorker object.   I am looking for an algorithm to simplify the meshes of buildings or similar structures. EDIT: I had made a comment that Hoppe's algorithm tends to make meshes more and more spherical with simplification. But, I am not sure about it, so am deleting the comment. Buildings in contrast should tend to become more and more rectangular with increasing simplification. The D3DX extensions for D3D in version 9.0 (d3dx9.lib) used to have classes to do progressive mesh simplification.   I'm trying to create something similar to the diggbar : http://digg.com/http://cnn.com I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and Asp Development server. However, I can't get the ASP dev server to handle the request because it contains "http:" in the path. I've tried to create an HTTPModule to rewrite the URL in the BeginRequest , but the event handler doesn't get called when the url is http://localhost:5957/http://yahoo.com. The event handler does get called if the url is http://localhost:5957/http/yahoo.com To summarize http://localhost:5957/http/yahoo.com works http://localhost:5957/http//yahoo.com does not work http://localhost:5957/http://yahoo.com does not work http://localhost:5957/http:/yahoo.com does not work Any ideas?

  I'm using DirectX 9 to acquire the frontbuffer. There are a couple of ways I know of to get at the front buffer: GetRenderTargetData() GetFrontBufferData() The MSDN page on both of these API calls state that the data is copied from device memory to system memory. I'd like to copy the front buffer surface directly to another graphics memory surface, as I have other manipulations to perform on the acquired surface before returning it to system memory. I'm creating a D3DUSAGE_DYNAMIC texture (gfx mem texture) and calling GetFrontBufferData() to write the front buffer to my textures surface0. Is this valid? Will the operation remain in gfx memory, or will it need to move to system memory and then back to graphics memory? If this is the case, is what I'm trying to achieve possible?

I have a function from it that I would like to call somewhere in the body of the page I am working on. I was wondering if there is some alternative to the .ready event that will work on a script load.   I'm listening to the WPF webbrowser's LoadCompleted event. It has some navigation arguments which provide details regarding the navigation. However, e.Content is always null. Am I paying attention to the wrong event here? How can I fetch the HTML that was just downloaded as string? I tried some things which I would consider hacks, but they return a string of HTML, even though that was not the string downloaded. For instance, with that method when I go to a page which just sends me the string abc, I get the result <document><body>abc</body></document> or something similar. I would prefer not getting into any more hacks than nescessary to get this running.

The html for the control is done in the RenderControls of the code, the control devrives from WebControl, IScriptControl, INamingContainer. The button is coded as follow in the RenderControls: System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton img = new System.Web.UI.WebControls.ImageButton(); img.ImageUrl = "Url of the image"; img.Click += new ImageClickEventHandler(img_Click); img.ID = this.ClientID + "_img"; img.CausesValidation = false; imgLock.RenderControl(output); The button apreas in the browser but when i click on it, the page postsback but the event handler for the button doesn't get fired, from what i can figure out, since the control goes throught RenderControls eachtime the page is posted back, the button gets redrawn and the event handling disapears. This server control is in a master page. Anyone can help me on this? Thanks

  I am trying to implement a ListSelectionListener for some of my JTables. Simply (at the moment) the ListSelectionListener is supposed to simply return the text of the cell that was selected. My program design has several JTables and I would like to have one ListSelectionListener work for them all. In the valueChanged event of the ListSelectionListener I thought it was possible to do something like: private class SelectionHandler implements ListSelectionListener { public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent e) { JTable table = (JTable)e.getSource(); String data = (String) table.getValueAt(table.getSelectedRow(), 0); // Print data } } But when I do this I a ClassCastException error. Is there a way to do something like this? One solution I thought of was to compare the source of the event (e.getSource()) to all my JTables to see if they were equivalent (big if block) and then just calling .getValueAt inside that block but that would making the code in the future difficult if tables were to be added or removed.

• Is there a browser-agnostic way to detect client-side script errors with Watin?

  We're using WatiN to test our web portals. During the course of an E2E test, we'll occasionally see client-side script errors on the IE status bar. I'd like to chain a handler onto the script error event and record the error for later analysis and bug filing. Problem is, I don't know that there's a global script error event or how to chain into it. And if there's not a browser-agnostic way to accomplish this, I can create MyIE and MyFF subclasses but then this becomes two browser-specific questions. In essence, I'm thinking of something like this entirely made-up call: browser.ScriptEngine.SetCustomErrorHandler(LogScriptingError); ... where LogScriptErrors is my code that does the obvious. Many of our client-side scripting errors don't necessarily prevent the test from continuing (a pretty UI element didn't animate, for example, but the underlying form is still submittable), so I'd like to log the error and forge ahead in most cases.

  Using Hibernate + annotations, I'm trying to do the following: Two entities, Entity1 and Entity2. Entity1 contains a simple generated value primary key. Entity2 primary key is composed by a simple generated value + the id of entity one (with a many to one relationship) Unfortunately, I can't make it work. • MSSQL - Select one random record not showing duplicates

  I have two tables, events and photos, which relate together via the 'Event_ID' column. I wish to select ONE random photo from each event and display them. How can I do this? I have the following which displays all the photos which are associated. How can I limit it to one per event?
