• WCF. Https on basicHttpBinding

  Hello, colleagues. I've written wcf service. Unfortunality I have to use basicHttpBinding for php callers. But I need securtiy. So I've decided use transport security with https. I host it at my IIS 6.0. I enable ssl at IIS and assign Certificate. But when I try open it through browser i get standard error. What's wrong. Please help. • Java applet - access denied to file on same web server

  I've written a simple Java applet to generate a technical image based upon some data in a CSV file. I'm passing in the CSV file as a parameter to the applet: <applet code = "assaymap.AssayMapApplet" archive = "http://localhost/applet_test/AssayMap.jar" height="600px" width="800px"> <param name="csvFile" value="http://localhost/applet_test/test.csv"> </applet> As far as I understood applet security restrictions, an applet should be able to read data from the host they're on. These applets here http://www.jalview.org/examples/applets.html are using the same approach of passing in a text data file as a parameter. So I'm not sure why my own applet isn't working. The error message I get thrown is: Error with processing the CSV data. java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission http:\localhost\applet_test\test.csv read)

• having issue while making the client calls persession in c# wcf

  1.) I have a main method Processing, which takes string as an arguments and that string contains some x number of tasks. 2.) I have another method Status, which keeps track of first method by using two variables TotalTests and CurrentTest. which will be modified every time with in a loop in first method(Processing). 3.) When more than one client makes a call parallely to my web service to call the Processing method by passing a string, which has different tasks will take more time to process. so in the mean while clients will be using a second thread to call the Status method in the webservice to get the status of the first method. 4.) when point number 3 is being done all the clients are supposed to get the variables(TotalTests,CurrentTest) parallely with out being mixed up with other client requests. 5.) The code that i have provided below is getting mixed up variables results for all the clients when i make them as static. If i remove static for the variables then clients are just getting all 0's for these 2 variables and i am unable to fix it. Please take a look at the below code. • The remote server returned an error: (400) Bad Request - uploading less 2MB file size?

  The file succeed to upload when it is 2KB or lower in size. The main reason why I use streaming is to be able to upload file up to at least 1 GB. But when I try to upload file with less 1MB size, I get bad request. It is my first time to deal with downloading and uploading process, so I can't easily find the cause of error. • Need to add totals of select list, and subtract if taken away

  This is the code I am using to calculate the sum of two values (example below) http://www.healthybrighton.co.uk/wse/node/1841 This works to a degree. It will add the two together but only if #edit-submitted-test is selected first, and even then it will show NaN until I select #edit-submitted-test-1. I want it to calculate the sum of the fields and show the amount live, i.e. the value of edit-submitted-test-1 will show 500, then if i select another field it will update to 1000. If i take one selection away it will then subtract it and will be back to 500. Any ideas would be helpful thanks! If i then change the selection and the accomodation updates to £300, the total cost updates to the previous selection of £900. • Which layer should create DataContext?

  I have a problem to decide which layer in my system should create DataContext. I have read a book, saying that if do not pass the same DataContext object for all the database updates, it will sometimes get an exception thrown from the DataContext. That's why i initially create new instance of DataContext in business layer, and pass it into data access layer. So that the same datacontext is used for all the updates. But this lead to one design problem, if i wanna change my DAL to Non-LinqToSQL in future, i need to re-write the code in business layer as well. Please give me some advice on this. Thanks. • Ignore certificate errors when requesting a URL in Java

  I'm trying to print a URL (without having a browser involved at all) but the URL is currently throwing the following: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target I'm calling the URL using a JEditorPane's setPage method, which just takes a URL as a parameter. Assuming I can't change anything server side and I still need to get to this resource, how would I go about ignoring the certificate error (or something else that gets me to my goal)? Accessing this URL via a browser tells me the site is untrusted and asks me if I want to proceed.

  I'm a fairly inexperienced web designer learning css/html on the fly for a company's web site. I want to keep menus, banners, etc in one document so I don't have to repeat updates across many documents. My solution was to make an index.aspx file with the menus and headers, then have a simple iframe for content. This works quite well and updates easily. the format is: www.site.com/index.aspx?page=page1.htm www.site.com/index.aspx?page=page2.htm The problem -- Google is indexing my iframe'd pages and linking to them directly: www.site.com/page1.htm www.site.com/page2.htm How can I set up redirects to page1.htm forwards to index.aspx?page=page1.htm without creating a "hall of mirrors" effect inside the original iframe?

• Change My.Settings ConnectionString in runtime?

  I have a ClickOnce deployment where i have a INI-settings file on the network file with "global" settings that is supposed to affect the program on all client computers. The problem i have is that i whant to have the Database connectionString stored in this INI file and have it read and stored in the My.Settings ConnectionString at program startup. How do i do this? The ConnectionString setting is Application scoped and therefore Read-Only, if i try to set it by My.Settings("ConnectionString") = "Source=server;Initial Catalog=database;Integrated Security=True" I get a runtime error: An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: The type initializer for 'DB_lib.DB_LINQ' threw an exception. [EDIT] I got rid of the error by using the My.Settings("ConnectionString") = "Source=server;Initial Catalog=database;Integrated Security=True" in another place then the the eventtriggerd settingsLoaded method i created.. The problem is that even though the connectionstring semes to be the right, the program still connects to the "default" database that is typed in to the app.config file??

• Which is the best PDF library for PHP?

  I'm wondering which is the best PDF creation library for PHP, mainly for creating PDFs from scratch (not as much HTML to PDF)? I have worked with FPDF for quite a while now, but it's getting quite old and hasn't had much for updates. I found TCPDF the other day (thanks you another question on SO). It seems very good and is based on FPDF so I don't think it'd be a big transition. FPDI also supports TCPDF which is nice as I have used it before and found it be useful. I have also seen DOMPDF but it too hasn't had many updates for quite some time and is lacking a lot of functionality for general PDF generation. Zend (Zend_Pdf) as well as many other libraries have their own PDF libraries or extend another one, but you often have to setup the entire library, which for existing projects can be a problem. What other libraries are there and what have your experiences with them been with the above or other libraries?

  When the user visits a page that contains a signed ActiveX control that has never been seen before, I'd expect IE to ask the user for permission to install the control. But sometimes IE puts up a security warning instead. For example, consider this site, which has a test control: http://www.pcpitstop.com/testax.asp I'd expect to get this message -- and sometimes, I do: "The website wants to run the following add-on: 'XXX' from 'YYY'. If you trust the the website and the add-on and want to allow it to run, click here..." But under IE8 on XP, I usually get this instead: "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this site from showing certain content. Click here for options..." What's going on?   Hi, I'm creating a custom action that executes a script on a database. The problem is that the connectios uses intergrated security, so when I try to open the connection i get the error: Login Failed for user 'Domain\ComputerName$'. When i check the identity on the custom action (using System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent()) I always get "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM" but I'm running the installer under my account which has enough privileges on the Database. How can I run the custom action under the real user runnig the msi file or solve this problem in any other way?

• Is it possible to run a MIDP application under Android

  The Google Market offers an application purporting to run J2ME MIDP applications on the Nexus One. I have tried this application but it only appears to run MIDP applications that are downloaded from particular web sites; it does not seem capable of picking up a MIDP application that is stored on the SD card in the phone. I have suggested to the developers that they might like to add such functionality, but they have not been particularly responsive to my messages. So I would like to build my own MIDP runner for Android and would like to see if I can find a pointer as to where to start, or even whether this is possible. The MIDP application in question was supplied on CD along with a security camera system and permits remote viewing and remote control over the security system. Clearly it wasn't built with the Android platform in mind. However, if it is possible somehow to run MIDP applications on Android (perhaps by creating some kind of sandbox environment for example) then I'd be quite keen to develop it.

  Hi, I need to update a joined sub-class. Since Hibernate doesn't allow to update joined sub-classes in hql or named-query I want to do it via SQL. I also can't use a sql named-query because updates via named-query are not supported in Hibernate. So I decided to use a SQLQuery. But Hibernate complaints about not calling addScalar(). Are updates returning the number of rows affected and how is named that column? Are there any other ways to do an update on a joined sub-class in hibernate? Thanks in advance!

• HTTP Digest Authentication Fails With URL Parameters (CakePHP)

  I have a RESTful API set up and working with CakePHP using mapResources() and parseExtensions(). Authentication is handled by CakePHP's security component using HTTP Digest Authentication. Everything works fine, unless I add parameters to the url, in the form: http://example.com/locations.xml?distance=4 Which causes the authentication to always fail. Any ideas? Edit: This seems to be an issue with the regex in parseDigestAuthData(). There's a semi-fix here: http://old.nabble.com/paginator-conflicts-with-Security-%3ErequireLogin---td16301573.html which now allows me to use the format: http://example.com/locations/index/distance:4/.xml But that's not RESTful and doesn't look all that pretty. Still, getting closer!

I went to Tools Options Environment Add-In/Macro Security, checked some paths put the AddIn files in a couple of these directoryies, restart VS2010 but still no luck!

  It looks like a standard question, but I couldn't find clear directions anywhere. I have java code trying to connect server with probably self-signed (or expired) certificate. It gives something like this [HttpMethodDirector] I/O exception (javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException) caught when processing request: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target As I understand, I have to play around with keytool and tell java that it's ok to allow this connection. But all comments I've found assume I'm fully proficient with keytool, like "generate private key for server and import it into keystore". And I'm not. Is there anybody who could post detailed instructions? I'm running unix, so bash script would be best. Not sure if it's important, but code executed in jboss. Thanks a lot!

• Impersonation in asp.net, confused about implmentation when used with Active Directory & Sql Server

  I have an internal website that is using integrated windows authentication and this website uses sql server & active directory queries via the System.Directory.Services namespace. To use the System.Directory.Services namespace in ASP.NET I have to run IIS under an account that has the correct privileges and importantly have impersonation set to true in the web config. If this is done then when I make a query against AD then the credentials of the wroker process (IIS) are used instead of the ASPNET account and therefore the queries will now succeed. Now if I am also using Sql Server with a connection string configured for integrated security ('Integrated Security=SSPI') then this interprets the ASP.NET impersonation to mean that I want to access the database as the windows credentials of the request no the worker process. I hope I'm wrong and that I've got the config wrong, but I don't think I have and this seems not to be inconsistent? It should be noted I'm using IIS 5.1 for development and obivously this doesn't have the concept of app-pools which I believe would resolve the problem.

  I've been using PrincipalPermission for a while in wcf services. [PrincipalPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Role = SecurityRoles.CanManageUsers)] although now i have a requirement to simplify roles by business unit. - currently aspnet_roles has fine grained can* permissions. Here is my approach and wanted to see if anyone can provide feedback, code review before i implement my suggestion. 1) aspnet_roles - business unit role 2) create permission table and Role_Permission table and User_Permission table (many to many) 3) create custom CodeAccessSecurityAttribute + that looks at new tables [CustomPermissionCheck(Security.Demand, HasPermission="can*")] first iteration i'll statically new the dependent repository.. ideally i would like an aop style attribute that has repository injected IPermissionRepository.HasPermission(...); If i approach new aop way i probably will stop inheriting from CodeAccessSecurityAttribute -- what do the security guys have to say about this? has anyone else solved this, is there something in the framework that i've missed?
