• Link failure with either abnormal memory consumption or LNK1106 in Visual Studio 2005.

  Hello, I am trying to build a solution for windows XP in Visual Studio 2005. This solution contains 81 projects (static libs, exe's, dlls) and is being successfully used by our partners. I copied the solution bundle from their repository and tried setting it up on 3 similar machines of people in our group. I was successful on two machines and the solution failed to build on my machine. The build on my machine encountered two problems: During a simple build creation of the biggest static library (about 522Mb in debug mode) would fail with the message "13libd\ui1d.lib : fatal error LNK1106: invalid file or disk full: cannot seek to 0x20101879" Full solution rebuild creates this library, however when it comes to linking the library to main .exe file, devenv.exe spawns link.exe which consumes about 80Mb of physical memory and 250MB of virtual and spawns another link.exe, which does the same. This goes on until the system runs out of memory. On PCs of my colleagues where successful build could be performed, there is only one link.exe process which uses all the memory required for linking (about 500Mb physical). There is a plenty of hard drive space on my machine and the file system is NTFS. All three of our systems are similar - Core2Quad processors, 4Gb of RAM, Windows XP SP3. We are using Visual studio installed from the same source. I tried using a different RAM and CPU, using dedicated graphics adapter to eliminate possibility of video memory sharing influencing the build, putting solution files to different location, using different versions of VS 2005 (Professional, Standard and Team Suite), changing the amount of available virtual memory, running memtest86 and building the project from scratch (i.e. a clean bundle). I have read what MSDN says about LNK1106, none of the cases apply to me except for maybe "out of heap space", however I am not sure how I should fight this. The only idea that I have left is reinstalling the OS, however I am not sure that it would help and I am not sure that my situation wouldn't repeat itself on a different machine. Would anyone have any sort of advice for me? Thanks

• Squid proxy not serving modified html content

  I'm trying to use squid to modify the page content of web page requests. I followed the upside-down-ternet tutorial which showed instructions for how to flip images on pages. I need to change the actual html of the page. I've been trying to do the same thing as in the tutorial, but instead of editing the image I'm trying to edit the html page. Below is a php script I'm using to try to do it. All jpg images get flipped, but the content on the page does not get edited. • Vim + OmniCppComplete: Completing on Class Members which are STL containers

  Completion on class members which are STL containers is failing. Completion on local objects which are STL containers works fine. When I type temp. in the cpp I get a list of string member functions as expected. But if I type str. omnicppcomplete spits out "Pattern Not Found". I've noticed that the temp. completion only works if I have the using std::string; declaration. How do I get completion to work on my class members which are STL containers? Edit I found that completion on members which are STL containers works if I make the follow modifications to the header: // foo.h #include <string> using std::string; class foo { public: void set_str(const string &); string get_str_reverse( void ); private: string str; }; Basically, if I add using std::string; and then remove the std:: name space qualifier from the string str; member and regenerate the tags file then OmniCppComplete is able to do completion on str.. It doesn't seem to matter whether or not I have let OmniCpp_DefaultNamespaces = ["std", "_GLIBCXX_STD"] set in the .vimrc. The problem is that putting using declarations in header files seems like a big no-no, so I'm back to square one.

  I have an image class (VisionImage) that is a black box to me. I'm attempting to serialize the image object to file using Serialization Surrogates as explained on this page. It seems to be working fine (file is getting bigger as the images are captured). I tried to test it read the file back in. The values read back in are correct as far as the "info" object is concerned. When I get to the line image.ArrayToImage(tempPixels); It throws the "Cannot access a disposed object" exception. Upon further inspection, the object and the resulting image are both marked as disposed. • Roaming user profile issues on Server 2008

  I thought I cleared a user's profile from 2008, but it keeps coming back. So, I was looking for the best way to clear a roaming profile in Server 2008, but I have been unable to find anything. But, I did see the post here: http://serverfault.com/questions/18724/user-profile-keeps-loading-temp-profile I wanted to add a comment to that post, but it was closed as not being related to sysadmin. But, I think it IS related because I dealt with precisely this same problem on our Wndows 2008 terminal server. Here was the issue: we have a user who was getting an "unable to load your roaming profile" type of error at logon in Windows 2008. Looking at the server, we could see her temp profile listed in the profile list while she was loggged (listed as a "temporary" and not a "roaming" profile). While she was logged on, a folder called C:\Users\Temp.DOMAIN existed in the users folder, but that disappeared as soon as she logged out. When this thing happened in 2003, we would clear the contents of the roaming profile folder & delete the temp folder in C:\Documents and Settings. The thing is, 2008 behaves a bit differently. Server 2008 created a new roaming profile folder in the roaming profile folder share: \SERVER\ProfileShare\UserName.V2 The local profile disappears from the profile list in System Properties, so there is no profile to clear Also the local profile folder, C:\Users\Temp.DOMAIN doesn't stay on the server when the user logs out, so we can't delete that as we would normally do when this sort of thing happens in Windows 2003 Despite all of this, every time the user logs back on, the frickin' Temp profile always comes back. One of my team-mates, who is much more experienced with 2008, said I should check the registry for the user's profile in this key (the users are listed by SID): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList I saw the user's SID listed there, but it ended in .BAK. I checked several other servers where she is having the same profile errors: in all cases, her SID ended with .BAK. For example (xxx replacing the LONG SID): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-21-xxxxx-xxxx.bak On the server she was logged on to, there were two keys for her profile in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-21-xxxxx-xxxx and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\S-1-5-21-xxxxx-xxxx.bak So, here is how I cleared up the issue. I had the user log off. I deleted the apparently bad profiles ending in .BAK from the ProfileList key on each server where it appeared. I made sure her roaming profile folder was empty I made sure that all the TEMP profile folders were gone The user logged back on: no more profile errors! Anyway, I wanted to make a comment on that closed question, but I didn't see any way to re-open the question so I could add it. But, I also would like to know if this is the best practice to clear out a bad roaming profile for Server 2008? I'm having a hard time finding any instructions on line on how best to do this, but this method I used seemed to work. I'd like to find some documentation to give to our Level 1 support staff so they will know how to clear user profiles on 2008 since this seems to be more involved that clearing user profiles in server 2003. • LSI MegaRAID Expected Chip Temperature?

  We recently built a replicating SAN array from 2x Dell R720XD's, we are using LSI 9270-8i MegaRAID cards with CacheCade 2.0, BBU and Write Back cache enabled. Our cards are showing HUGE chip temperatures (97*C+ with NO disk activity!). Our R720's are in auto temp management mode so the max exhaust temp is 50*C. The MegaRAID cards are passively cooled and depend on good airflow to cool them - however is 97*C normal? - I have seen reference to 60*C max ambients but nothing for chip temp.

I simply want to use only nginx for this, no reverse proxy, no other backend and no php. • PHP ignores upload_tmp_dir?

  LS, I am using IIS7 with PHP (FastCGI). I set up the upload_tmp_dir to "X:\Temp" instead of leaving it empty, but it's still using "C:\Windows\Temp" for some reason. I did give the following users full rights : NETWORK SERVICE, (application pool user), IIS_IUSRS. I also restarted IIS after I made the change. • Why can't Logman start?

  I'm setting up my first logman counter. But it's not working! There is some file or folder permissions problem. Or maybe I wrote the create-counter statement wrong. Here's my counter commands: logman create counter BillTest -si 30 -v nnnnnn -max 200 -o "C:\Temp" -c "\Processor(*)\*" "\Memory(*)\*" "\LogicalDisk(*)\*" logman start BillTest The first command works. It says counter creation successful. The second command fails: Collection "BillTest" did not start, check the application event log for any errors Here's the error in the Event Viewer: The service was unable to open the log file C:\Temp_000001.blg for log BillTest and will be stopped. Check the log folder for existence, spelling, permissions, and ensure that no other logs or applications are writing to this log file. You can reenter the log file name using the configuration program. This log will not be started. The error returned is: Access is denied. I verified that C:\Temp exists. I'm not a permissions guru, but I did set all the accounts in the security tab of that folder to "full control." Still, the logman start command failed with the same error. I noticed that it was trying to write to C:\Temp_000001.blg instead of C:\Temp\000001.blg. That might be part of the problem. So, I tried to update my counter to "C:\Temp\" instead of "C:\Temp", but that failed with a path-invalid error. Also, all the examples I saw online used did not put a trailing slash. So, no dice there. I tried this on my machine (Windows XP) and my dev server (Windows Server 2003). Both failed with the same error. How can I fix this?

After installing both icu and libicu with the following commands: $ yum install icu $ yum install libicu I tried to install the Intl extension like so: $ /usr/bin/pecl install intl I selected to search for the default location for the ICU libraries and header files. It ends up crashing like this: checking whether to enable internationalization support... yes, shared checking for icu-config... no checking for location of ICU headers and libraries... not found configure: error: Unable to detect ICU prefix or no failed. Please verify ICU install prefix and make sure icu-config works. ERROR: `/tmp/pear/temp/intl/configure --with-icu-dir=DEFAULT' failed update After successfully installing the development version of icu as suggested by RusAlex (thanks RusAlex) like so: $ yum install libicu-devel I ran into a new problem which I also encountered locally the following command: $ /usr/bin/pecl install intl now produces this error: /private/tmp/pear/temp/intl/collator/collator_class.c:92: error: duplicate 'static' /private/tmp/pear/temp/intl/collator/collator_class.c:96: error: duplicate 'static' /private/tmp/pear/temp/intl/collator/collator_class.c:101: error: duplicate 'static' /private/tmp/pear/temp/intl/collator/collator_class.c:107: error: duplicate 'static' make: *** [collator/collator_class.lo] Error 1 ERROR: `make' failed It appears to have something to do with PHP 5.3 being bundled with Intl already. But how can I enable this extension, if I look in my PHP Info than I cannot find any reference to it...

I found that the %Temp% {C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp} takes lots of space and tried to delete files in it. But when I open it , it alerted me with the message C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Temp is not accessible The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable? What to do? • Serious voltage and temperature problems

  My computer has been acting up when I play games so I wanted to look into why. Issue 1: GPU Temp According to afterburner and speedfan my 8800GTX idles at 90 degrees and then when playing games shoots up to over 110C which is when my graphics basically starts to give rendering issues. Issue 2: CPU Temp Speedfan is saying my CPU temp is 83C idle but when I look at core temp it says core0 is at 35C and core1 is at 33C. Issue 3: Voltages This is what speedfan is saying for my voltages: Vcore1: 1.01V Vcore2: 1.90V +3.3V: 3.31V +5V: 4.95V +12V: 0.51V -12V: -16.80V -5V: -8.43V +5V 5.13V Vbat: 3.25V Vcore: 3.00V +3.3V: 3.20V These voltages, for lack of a better word, look f*cked. With all this happening, the computer runs ok under normal use. Is the software giving out incorrect readouts or instead should I immediately move the computer into another room before it explodes? P.s I would like to add this is a stock system. EVGA 8800GTX, E6850 CPU, 800W PSU

• Windows 7 automatically logs out when logging in

  A Windows 7 HP x64 computer is set to automatically log in (no password), but once it starts logging in, it starts to load the desktop after the welcome screen, but before icons or background images are loaded, it goes to the Welcome screen saying 'Logging Off'. I can log in with Safe Mode, and I ran a couple different virus scans, with no detections. I also tried checking the userinit.exe file in System32 (as suggested by MANY users for Windows XP), but it's the same version as a working system. I also checked the registry under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon for the SHELL and UserInit values, but they look normal. I tried to disable all startup items (through MSCONFIG) to select Diagnostic boot, but then I get a blue screen about the video driver not loading. Any other ideas? EDIT I created a new user, and it could log in no problems. I am thinking it's the NTUSER.DAT file. I just renamed it to NTUSER.DAT.old, then tried logging in as the problem user. I could log in, but as a TEMP profile. His profile folder is now C:\Users\TEMP, and his old folder is still accessible but in the wrong location. EDIT 2 I can't seem to turn off the TEMP profile, so I'm open to other suggestions. Copying the folders (i.e. Documents, Music, etc) does not work, as it creates an additional TEMP.000 then TEMP.001 folder each time the user logs in.

• IIS returning plain Forbidden response. No HTTP code

  I'm running a ServiceStack application on IIS. My regular services work fine and have not had any problems with permissions. My new project involves providing generated pdfs. I gave IIS_IUSRS read/write permissions to the Temp directory under my app directory. I also allow non SSL connections to this directory. When I browse to the file which ServiceStack is supposed to automatically serve up (eg. http://ryu.com/Temp/201310171723337631.pdf ) I get this: Forbidden Request.HttpMethod: GET Request.PathInfo: Request.QueryString: Request.RawUrl: /ryu/Temp/201310171723337631.pdf App.IsIntegratedPipeline: True App.WebHostPhysicalPath: C:\inetpub\ryu App.WebHostRootFileNames: [global.asax,global.asax.cs,web.config,bin,temp] Now this doesn't look like a ServiceStack error message, more like IIS, but I'm not certain as to how to get to the bottom of this. Authorization settings are Allow All.

• Windows command FOR /F isn't working?

  I'm trying to use the FOR command in Windows XP's command line. I have a file temp.txt with 3 lines: temp1 temp2 temp3 And I'm typing the following command at the prompt: for /F %p in (temp.txt) do echo Testing %p Nothing comes back. If I remove the /F parameter, the output is Testing temp.txt. As far as I can determine, I'm using the command exactly as it is documented by Microsoft. I've checked my registry to make sure Command Extensions are on, and even started a new shell with cmd /e:on to be doubly sure. What am I doing wrong? Yes, I was doing something wrong. The file temp.txt wasn't created from scratch, I just edited it to put in my test content. Unfortunately when I created the file the first time, I saved it with a UTF-8 marker at the front. Recreating the file as plain text solved the problem.
