• iPhone: Using plist to populate a grouped table

  Hi there, I was wanting to use a plist to populate my grouped table. I've had a look at the DrillDownSave sample project, and I'm still none-the-wiser. Although, I did learn that I could store hierarchies and suchlike in there. So here's the questions: How can I use my plist to add new items to my grouped table? I'm currently feeding the table with an array, and I've noticed that an array isn't going to be the best thing for me. When a user taps on an item in the plist, how can I push the view to the corresponding item? In other words, how can I push the view based on the selected row (which was generated by the plist) to it's next "view"? If that makes any sense, please reply. Thanks, Jack.

• Unable to fix broken packages with sudo apt-get install -f

  Here's my result, of sudo apt-get install -f. i have Ran it twice and got negative result. I believe there is an error at "error in Version string '0:3.6.1-dates for language English Translation data updates for all supported packages for: English" This same statement "error in Version string, caused me three days of attempting to download version 12.04. There is a bug report concerning the quoted text as well. Is there anyway to download the version without the language packs, why would I corrupt version 11.10? Also, when attempting to download Synaptic using sudo apt-get install synaptic, I get the same error message. Again I point out the initial download problems and the same error message receipt. • Resize Ext.form.ComboBox to fit its content

  There are quite few solutions on Ext forums, but I wasn’t able to get any of them work. It seems I am missing something minor. I need to resize combobox to fit its content when it’s first created. I do not need to worry about resizing it when content is changing. Is there any working examples using Extjs 3.2? • When to release the model(representedObject) of the corresponding UIViewController.

  Hi, In AppKit we have "representedObject" available through NSViewController, this representedObject is generally set to ModelController or the model which the NSViewController displays, this works great with bindings as you just set the new representedObject and model details are updated in the view, BUT in case of iPhone (UIKit, with NO Cocoa bindings available), there is no such representedObject in UIViewController so here are few things I am interested in knowing:- What is the best/recommended way of binding the model to the UIViewController?, preferably dont want to maintain lot of IBOutlets and calls setters to updated the changed model data for display in view. How/When should the related model of the UIViewController be released? When is the -[UIViewController dealloc] called, in the typical iPhone application. Am looking for architecting some classes so that the UIViewController coordinates between the view and the model, but at the same time, deallocs the model when ever not necessary. TIA.

• Converting app to MVC and running it in both console and gui

  I have a simple java gui calculator, with 3 number systems (there are some bugs but that doesn't matter now). Currently all code is in one file. My task is to rewrite it as MVC, and add possibility to run it in either gui or console mode. How should I divide this program to organise it as M-V-C ? Is it written properly enough to add console functionality to it? (guess I'll have to change all methods invoking to JLabel Output to something simply storing an output String as a model argument and then having View to get it). • Add UIView behind UITableView in UITableViewController code

  I would like to use a fixed image as the background in a simple grouped table view in my iPhone program. Unfortunately, no matter what I do, the background is always solid white. I have followed several supposed solutions on this site and others to no avail. Here is the relavant code in the viewDidLoad method of the table view controller class (note, this code uses a solid blue color rather than an image for simplicity's sake): self.tableView.opaque = NO; self.tableView.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; UIView *backgroundView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 320, 480)]; backgroundView.backgroundColor = [UIColor blueColor]; [self.tableView.window addSubview:backgroundView]; [backgroundView release]; I suspect that I am not positioning the backgroundView view in the right place. • FormEditor receiving NULL IEditorInput object

  Hi, I have extended IEditorInput class to define my own IEditorInput object. Furthermore, I have extended FormEditor class. I have view where I am displaying my application objects. Whenever user double clicks on items on view, I intend to display more details for this application object on the editor, which is a FormEditor. Problem I am facing is that I am receiving IEditorInput object as NULL inside extended FormEditor class. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?   I've been looking into creating a gallery mode in my application. The functionality will be identical to the built in Photos App. Here's the flow: 1. You touch on a thumbnail and ... 2. a modal view displays a large detail version of the image 3. You have the ability to scroll horizontally through all the images in the gallery while in this modal view I'm stuck on step 3. How do I dynamically load hi res images into a scroll view? I understand I need to set the contentSize for the the scrollView but how do I do that when I've only selected and loaded one image? What delegate methods do I need to implement and what does the heavy lifting look like? Thanks in advance!

• Drupal: Content in blocks from node_reference fields?

  After only a few weeks of working with Drupal I've come up with a recurring problem, which I don't really have an optimal solution to, so I'm hoping that someone here might be able to give some best practice pointers. What I have is a region inside my node.tpl.php, which is populated with blocks that display content from two different CCK fields of the type node_reference. This works fine when displaying a single node. The problem appears when I need to use a view. For example, lets say I have a news listing, and a single news item view. When I display the single news item I can use the news node node_reference field to reference whatever material I would like to have in my sidebar, but when on the news listing view I would like to reference nodes separately. What would be the best practice to solve this? I'm having a few ideas, but none seem like the logical choice, how would you do?

• Android VideoView plays 2 videos at the same time

  I ma trying to play a videoview on top of another video view. the first video view is paused, while the second is playing. It appears to work but no second video appears on he screen (though I hear the audio and see the controls that would normally appear on top). I am assuming this is some sort of Zorder issue. Any thoughts. By the way, I have no problem displaying other views on top of the main video view and having the video fill the background.

  Is there's a bounding box on an application that receives touch events? I created a few sample round rect buttons and placed them in different places in my view. The ones in the center of the view receive touch events (and show the highlighted blue color) but if I place a button near the edges of the view, only parts of them are clickable in the simulator. Is this because of Apples style guidelines? I placed a button exactly where a UITabNavigationItem would appear and only the bottom half of it is clickable.

  Hello community i have a big problem. i implemented an NSAlert in the viewDidLoad() of my app: UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:title message:alertMessage delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:ok otherButtonTitles:nil]; But the Alert pops up for 3 times, and then i can klick on it. Could it be that the viewDidLoad() starts for 3 times? Users (and developers before users) can reasonably test the view by simply looking at the pixels on the screen. • Custom size app screen on iPad

  I am trying to create a mid-size screen for my app on iPad. In didFinishLaunchingWithOptions(), I do this: CGRect winRect = CGRectMake(100,100,500,500); navController.view.frame = winRect; the screen comes up fine and I can click around and do stuff until the orientation changes. It takes the screen to original full size - how can I make it stick to my winRect frame? I tried setting the parentViewController.view.frame/view.frame to winRect in willRotateToInterfaceOrientation() but no good. Any ideas? Thanks.

I am writing my first app in ASP.NET MVC Framework and i have a problem with checking privileges to use instances of model classes (read, edit). Sample code looks like this: // Controller action [CustomAuthorize(Roles="Editor, Admin")] public ActionResult Stats(int id) { User user = userRepository.GetUser(id); if (user == null || !user.Activated || user.Removed) return View("NotFound"); else if (!user.IsCurrentSessionUserOwned) return View("NotAuthorized"); return View(user); } So far authorize attribute protects only controller actions, so my question is: how to make (custom) authorize attribute to check not only user role, usernames but also did i.e. resources instantiated in action methods (above: User class, but there are other ORM objects like News, Photos etc.) All of these object to check have their unique ID's, so user have own ID, News have their ID and UserID field referecned to Users table (i mean these objects are LINQ2SQL classes). How should i resolve that problem?

• Drupal Views pulling Data Fields

  I'm a little new to drupal but have been using things like devel module and theme developer to speed up the learning process. My question, is it possible to theme an entire views BLOCK from a single views tpl.php page OR even a preprocess? When I'm grabbing the $view object I can see results $node-result, it has all of the results, but it doesn't have all my views fields. I'm missing things like, node path, taxonomy titles and paths, etc. From my understanding, Drupal wants you to individually theme EACH output field. It seems rather superfluous to create so many extra templates when I've already got over HALF of my results coming through the $view object Would outputting node over field make this easier? Or am going in the wrong direction with $view-result? Thanks!

• Tiling solution for the iPhone that can handle infinite # of tiles

  I have been looking at ways to implement a tiling solution on the iPhone/iPad similar to something like Google Maps. I have looked at examples of how to implement a CATiledLayer into a view that is inside a UIScrollView. Then when you scroll the view, the tiles request the new data to be shown. However, this seems to work when you have a finite view size (ie: 3000x3000). However, how could I work this into a tiling solution for much larger sizes. Basically, I want to be able to show data as needed for tiles as large as I can. Can I somehow use CATiledLayer to do this? Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

  I am developing an iPhone app that displays several views, all acessed via Tab Bar items. However I need to add an additional item to the Tab Bar that simply launches a URL in Safari. I've accomplished this by adding an empty placeholder view to the TabBar and returning FALSE from shouldSelectViewController when the this view's tabBarItem is clicked on, and launching Safari at the same time. That code is: - (BOOL)tabBarController:(UITabBarController *)tabBarController shouldSelectViewController:(UIViewController *)viewController { if([[viewController tabBarItem] title] == "Website"){ //... launch Safari return FALSE; } else { return TRUE; } } PROBLEM: If the TabBar has too many items, and this "Safari Launch" tab is pushed off to the "More" navigation controller, I lose the capability to intercept the event and prevent the view from loading when clicked. Any suggested tips?
