  • Goodbye my beloved Nexus One, hello Windows Phone 7

    - by George Clingerman
Last night my wife’s Nexus One finally bit the dust. You may not know but I’ve been nursing her Nexus One one along for quite a while after her screen shattered. I was able to replace it on my own (go me!) but little quirks have been popping up and the phone was quickly deteriorating. Lately it’s been the power button. Wifey would often have to press the power button several times to get her phone to turn on and last night it just wouldn’t wake up again. I took it apart and tried my best to see if I could somehow make it live once again but no luck this time. It was finally ready to retire. We looked at first for a replacement phone for her but she wasn’t really seeing anything she liked. So I decided to make the ultimate sacrifice and offer up my much loved Nexus One and I would then get a new Windows Phone 7 device. I love T-Mobile for my service so my choices were immediately limited to basically just a single phone. The HTC HD7. I read reviews and they were all over the board from people loving to people hating the phone but I decided, hey, why not, let’s take this plunge. And I did. I’ve only had the phone for about two days now so below is my list of first reaction pros/cons. These are basically things I’ve missed or things I’ve noticed that I really like about my new Windows Phone. Cons: * No Google Talk – I used this a LOT on my Nexus. I’ve found an application called “Flory” but it’s just an ok substitute, not the same as the full featured GTalk I had on my Nexus. * Seesmic is limited– I loved the way Seesmic worked on my Nexus. It was my mobile twitter client of choice. Everything about it worked really well. On Windows Phone 7 it’s just ok. I don’t get notification of new tweets, it’s several clicks to even see a new tweet. It’s definitely got some more development before it has the same features as it did on my Nexus. * Buttons don’t give great feedback – I’d read this on the reviews about the HTC HD7 and I’m finding it true myself. Pressing the buttons on the side of the phone and the power button on the top is finicky and I have to be looking at my phone to make sure I actually got them to press. * Web browsing is slow – I’m not sure what’s up with this, I’m connected to my wireless network at my house but it’s noticeably slower on my WP7 device than my Nexus. I even switched back to verify and it’s definitely true. Retrieving tweets, hitting up the XNA forums and just general web activities are all much slower on my WP7. I can’t think of any reason this would be true but it almost seems like it’s not using my wireless for everything.   Pros: * It’s pretty – the phone is really gorgeous. I loved the form of my Nexus One by the HTC HD7 is just as pretty, maybe even prettier! It’s got a nice large, bright screen. It feels good in my hand. And it even has a little kickstand to set the phone up for movie watching. Definitely a gorgeous phone. * LIVE integration – I lost a lot of nice integration with Google services but I gained a lot of integration with LIVE services that I also use. Now I can see when I get new GMail messages AND Hotmail messages. And having the Xbox LIVE integration is admittedly cool as well. * Tile notification rock – The Windows Phone 7 commercials are TRYING to get this message out but they’re doing a really poor job of this. Tile notifications really do save you from your phone. I have a whole little mini-informational dashboard at a glance. I unlock my phone and at a glace I can see new IMs, new mail messages, software updates etc. All just letting me know in the tiles I have arranged. That’s pretty cool. * The interface works really well – I feel super hip and cool swiping and sliding things around on my Windows Phone 7. Everything works that way and it’s great and fast and really good looking. I’m all about me feeling cool. * I’m gaming more – I had gotten a few games on my Nexus One but there really weren’t a lot of good developers flocking to the service. Just browsing through the Windows Phone 7 marketplace I’m already seeing a ton of games I want to try and buy. And I sat down and bet Pixel Man 0 just yesterday on my phone. I’m already gaming more than I did on my Nexus One. * Netflix integration is fantastic - It works just like it does on my Xbox 360 and I love having this feature on my phone. * It’s basically a Zune – I’ve been taking my Zune to work and listening to music off of that while I code. I no longer need to take it with me, now I just sync songs onto my phone and it’s my new Zune. I freaking love that. One less device to carry around.   All in all my cons have really little to do with the phone (just the buttons and the web browsing) and more to do with the applications needing to catch up a bit to what I’m used to. And the Pros are things that ARE phone specific so I’m seeing that as a good sign that I’m going to be very happy with my Windows Phone 7. So Wifey is happy having her Nexus One again, I’m happy with my new Windows Phone 7. Life is good. Now I just need to make a game to pay for it….

  • Mocking a non-settable child property with Rhino Mocks

    - by Marcus
I currently have interfaces much like the following: interface IService { void Start(); IHandler ServiceHandler { get; } } interface IHandler { event EventHandler OnMessageReceived; } Using Rhino Mocks, it's easy enough to mock IService, but it doesn't assign any IHandler instance to the ServiceHandler property. Therefore when my method under test adds an event handler to _mockedService.ServiceHandler.OnMessageReceived, I get an 'Object reference not set' error. How can I ensure that ServiceHandler is assigned a value in the mocked IService instance? This is likely Rhino Mocks 101, but I'm just getting up to speed on it...

  • Click GEvent.addListener with jquery

    - by Jason
Created a google map with GMap2 and put pinpoints on there that open up a balloon with the address when the pinpoint is clicked. I would like users to be able to click text on the page itself and use jquery to open up the corresponding balloon. However I can't figure out the ID to use to call a jquery click event. Basically I've got a store listing down the left side and when user clicks store name I want it to open up the corresponding balloon. GEvent.addListener(marker_500, "click", function () { map.openInfoWindowHtml(point, myHtml); } Any idea what element tied to this click event is? Tried $("#marker_500").click(); And that doesn't work. Also tried alerting $(this).attr('id'); inside the click function and that is undefined. thanks jason

  • Check if key is pressed using python (a daemon in the background)

    - by Nazarius Kappertaal
I've created a python script in which an event needs to be executed each time I press the Super (or WinKey) on my keyboard. How can one achieve this without the python process being "focused" - as it is running in the background waiting for the key to be pressed to execute the event? I've seen a lot of posts around the web showing me how to read input - but they have all required one to have the process "focused" and none have showed me how to capture the Super (or WinKey) using a python script. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10.

  • Add child to scene from within a class.

    - by Fecal Brunch
    Hi, I'm new to flash in general and have been writing a program with two classes that extend MovieClip (Stems and Star). I need to create a new Stems object as a child of the scene when the user stops dragging a Star object, but do not know how to reference the scene from within the Star class's code. I've tried passing the scene into the constructor of the Star and doing sometihng like: this.scene.addChild (new Stems ()); But apparently that's not how to do it... Below is the code for Stems and Stars, any advice would be appreciated greatly. package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.*; import flash.utils.Timer; public class Stems extends MovieClip { public const centreX=1026/2; public const centreY=600/2; public var isFlowing:Boolean; public var flowerType:Number; public const outerLimit=210; public const innerLimit=100; public function Stems(fType:Number) { this.isFlowing=false; this.scaleX=this.scaleY= .0007* distanceFromCentre(this.x, this.y); this.setXY(); trace(distanceFromCentre(this.x, this.y)); if (fType==2) { gotoAndStop("Aplant"); } } public function distanceFromCentre(X:Number, Y:Number):int { return (Math.sqrt((X-centreX)*(X-centreX)+(Y-centreY)*(Y-centreY))); } public function rotateAwayFromCentre():void { var theX:int=centreX-this.x; var theY:int = (centreY - this.y) * -1; var angle = Math.atan(theY/theX)/(Math.PI/180); if (theX<0) { angle+=180; } if (theX>=0&&theY<0) { angle+=360; } this.rotation = ((angle*-1) + 90)+180; } public function setXY() { do { var tempX=Math.random()*centreX*2; var tempY=Math.random()*centreY*2; } while (distanceFromCentre (tempX, tempY)>this.outerLimit || distanceFromCentre (tempX, tempY)<this.innerLimit); this.x=tempX; this.y=tempY; rotateAwayFromCentre(); } public function getFlowerType():Number { return this.flowerType; } } } package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.*; import flash.utils.Timer; public class Star extends MovieClip { public const sWide=1026; public const sTall=600; public var startingX:Number; public var startingY:Number; public var starColor:Number; public var flicker:Timer; public var canUpdatePos:Boolean=true; public const innerLimit=280; public function Star(color:Number, basefl:Number, factorial:Number) { this.setXY(); this.starColor=color; this.flicker = new Timer (basefl + factorial * (Math.ceil(100* Math.random ()))); this.flicker.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER, this.tick); this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER, this.hover); this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, this.drop); this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, this.drag); this.addChild (new Stems (2)); this.flicker.start(); this.updateAnimation(0, false); } public function distanceOK(X:Number, Y:Number):Boolean { if (Math.sqrt((X-(sWide/2))*(X-(sWide/2))+(Y-(sTall/2))*(Y-(sTall/2)))>innerLimit) { return true; } else { return false; } } public function setXY() { do { var tempX=this.x=Math.random()*sWide; var tempY=this.y=Math.random()*sTall; } while (distanceOK (tempX, tempY)==false); this.startingX=tempX; this.startingY=tempY; } public function tick(event:TimerEvent) { if (this.canUpdatePos) { this.setXY(); } this.updateAnimation(0, false); this.updateAnimation(this.starColor, false); } public function updateAnimation(color:Number, bright:Boolean) { var brightStr:String; if (bright) { brightStr="bright"; } else { brightStr="low"; } switch (color) { case 0 : this.gotoAndStop("none"); break; case 1 : this.gotoAndStop("N" + brightStr); break; case 2 : this.gotoAndStop("A" + brightStr); break; case 3 : this.gotoAndStop("F" + brightStr); break; case 4 : this.gotoAndStop("E" + brightStr); break; case 5 : this.gotoAndStop("S" + brightStr); break; } } public function hover(event:MouseEvent):void { this.updateAnimation(this.starColor, true); this.canUpdatePos=false; } public function drop(event:MouseEvent):void { this.stopDrag(); this.x=this.startingX; this.y=this.startingY; this.updateAnimation(0, false); this.canUpdatePos=true; } public function drag(event:MouseEvent):void { this.startDrag(false); this.canUpdatePos=false; } } }

  • Overriding events of excel sheet using VBA

    - by Rashmi Pandit
Hi, I need to programmatically override the following events of a worksheet: BeforeDoubleClick SelectionChange BeforeRightClick I have been able to override the OnActivate event using the following code: sheet.OnSheetActivate = "MyOwn_Activate" Private Sub MyOwn_Activate() myForm.Show End Sub I have implemented BeforeDoubleClick on similar lines: sheet.OnDoubleClick = "My_BeforeDoubleClick" Private Sub My_BeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean) ... End Sub However, an 'argument not optional' error is thrown at run-time when user double clicks a cell on the sheet. Can someone please suggest how should I pass the paramters? In addition, I am not able to find event names for SelectionChange & BeforeRightClick. I tried: sheet.BeforeRightClick = "My_BeforeRightClick" sheet.SelectionChange = "My_SelectionChange" But, both the above lines do not work. Any help/ suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

  • Object drag delay issue

    - by Johnny Darvall
    I have this code that drags stuff around perfectly in IE - however in firefox the onmousedown-drag of the object does not immediately drag but shows the no-entry cursor and then after onmouseup the object drags around freely. The object does stop draging on the next onmouseup. The object should only drag in the onmousdown state, while the onmousup call should cancel the drag by making j_OK=0. I think it may have something to do with the image inside... the object: <em style=position:absolute;left:0;top:0;width:32;height:32;display:block> < img src=abc.gif onmousedown=P_MV(this.parentNode) style=position:absolute;left:0;top:0;width:inherit> </em> function P_MV(t) { p_E=t j_oy=parseInt(p_E.style.top) j_ox=parseInt(p_E.style.left) j_OK=1 document.onselectstart=function(){return false} document.onmousemove=P_MVy } function P_MVy(e) { if(j_OK) { p_E.style.top=(j_FF?e.clientY:event.clientY)-j_y+j_oy p_E.style.left=(j_FF?e.clientX:event.clientX)-j_x+j_ox } return false }

  • Generating Component SEF URLs in Joomla

    - by Jarrod
I have a custom Joomla component and a router for building my SEF URL's for use within the site, and everything is usually shiny - internally, all of my links look and act fantastic. I recently route a controller action that sends a list of links through email, and I've noticed that my URLs are coming out.... funky - hopefully someone can tell me why. Usually, my router generates an internal link that looks like this: http://localhost/Registry/calendar/265889635/Some-Long-Boring-Event However, when I send an email and preparing the same URL through the same router I get: http://localhost/Registry/Registry/component/calendar/569555803/Some-Long-Boring-Event Has anybody run into this issue before?

  • derby + hibernate ConstraintViolationException using manytomany relationships

    - by user364470
Hi, I'm new to Hibernate+Derby... I've seen this issue mentioned throughout the google, but have not seen a proper resolution. This following code works fine with mysql, but when I try this on derby i get exceptions: ( each Tag has two sets of files and vise-versa - manytomany) Tags.java @Entity @Table(name="TAGS") public class Tags implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) public long getId() { return id; } @ManyToMany(targetEntity=Files.class ) @ForeignKey(name="USER_TAGS_FILES",inverseName="USER_FILES_TAGS") @JoinTable(name="USERTAGS_FILES", joinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="TAGS_ID"), inverseJoinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="FILES_ID")) public Set<data.Files> getUserFiles() { return userFiles; } @ManyToMany(mappedBy="autoTags", targetEntity=data.Files.class) public Set<data.Files> getAutoFiles() { return autoFiles; } Files.java @Entity @Table(name="FILES") public class Files implements Serializable { @Id @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.AUTO) public long getId() { return id; } @ManyToMany(mappedBy="userFiles", targetEntity=data.Tags.class) public Set getUserTags() { return userTags; } @ManyToMany(targetEntity=Tags.class ) @ForeignKey(name="AUTO_FILES_TAGS",inverseName="AUTO_TAGS_FILES") @JoinTable(name="AUTOTAGS_FILES", joinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="FILES_ID"), inverseJoinColumns=@JoinColumn(name="TAGS_ID")) public Set getAutoTags() { return autoTags; } I add some data to the DB, but when running over Derby these exception turn up (the don't using mysql) Exceptions SEVERE: DELETE on table 'FILES' caused a violation of foreign key constraint 'USER_FILES_TAGS' for key (3). • Get the caret position when losing focus in WPF

    - by DrLazer
I have two textbox's. I have an event setup for the "onLostFocus" of the textbox's. If i finish typing a word into both boxes one after the other all is well. At the point where i click back on the first textbox i want to click halfway through the word (perfectly resonable thing for a user to do). When the onLostFocus event fires here is my code : void tbox_LostFocus(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { IInputElement focusedelement = FocusManager.GetFocusedElement(this); if (focusedelement is TextBox) { TextBox focusedTextBox = focusedelement as TextBox; int focusIndex = m_commandsStacker.Children.IndexOf(focusedTextBox); int caretIndex = focusedTextBox.CaretIndex; The caret index is 0. At that point I refresh the whole form and set parameters and all other kinds of whizzery, storing the texbox index and caret position to put everything back the same. Why does it return 0 and not the position where the caret should be halfway between the word?

  • Best Practice - Validating Input In Simple GUI Application?

    - by Alex
I'm writing a GUI app with wxwidgets in C++ for one of my programming classes. We have to validate input and throw custom exceptions if it doesn't meet certain conditions. My question is, what is best practice when it comes to this? Should I write a seperate function that checks for errors, and have my event handler's call that function? Or should I do my error-checking in my event handlers? Or does it really matter? Thanks!

  • SoundPlayer causing Memory Leaks?

    - by Nick Udell
I'm writing a basic writing app in C# and I wanted to have the program make typewriter sounds as you typed. I've hooked the KeyPress event on my RichTextBox to a function that uses a SoundPlayer to play a short wav file every time a key is pressed, however I've noticed after a while my computer slows to a crawl and checking my processes, audiodlg.exe was using 5 GIGABYTES of RAM. The code I'm using is as follows: I initialise the SoundPlayer as a global variable on program start with SoundPlayer sp = new SoundPlayer("typewriter.wav") Then on the KeyPress event I simply call sp.Play(); Does anybody know what's causing the heavy memory usage? The file is less than a second long, so it shouldn't be clogging the thing up too much.

  • How can I launch a missile?

    - by doug.stanhope
I am working on an open-source missile launcher application. I have added a big red button to a Form that says "Launch Missile". When I click the button, the event handler gets called. From the event handler I call a method named LaunchMissile(). So far so good, but how do you launch a missile from C# code? Will I have to write this code myself or is there an API or third party library for launching missiles? Please add sample code for various launch scenarios: orbit, moon, mars, etc.

  • WPF ItemsControl - how to know when the items finished loading, so that I can focus the first one?

    - by Tomáš Kafka
Hi everyone, I have an ItemsControl in my View, that is bound to an ObservableCollection from ViewModel. The collection is filled, and afterwards an event from VM to view is raised (think search results and SearchFinished event). I would like to move keyboard focus to the first item in an ItemsControl, but when I do it in View's code-behind when handling SearchFinished, the items are not yet rendered (the collection is filled already, but wpf's rendering is asynchronous and didn't happen yet), so there is nothing to focus (Focus() needs to have the items' visual tree already constructed). I wanted to do (myItemsControl.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromIndex(0) as UIElement).Focus();, but as the 0th item is not yet loaded, ContainerFromIndex(0) returns null. I tried delaying it with Dispatcher.BeginInvoke... with low priority, but that is dependent on exact timing and usually doesn't work. How can I wait until the first item in ItemsControl is Loaded?

  • Linking IronPython to WPF

    - by DonnyD
I just installed VS2010 and the great new IronPython Tools extension. Currently this extension doesn't yet generate event handlers in code upon double-clicking wpf visual controls. Is there anyone that can provide or point me to an example as to how to code wpf event handlers manually in python. I've had no luck finding any and I am new to visual studio. Upon generating a new ipython wpf project the auto-generated code is: import clr clr.AddReference('PresentationFramework') from System.Windows.Markup import XamlReader from System.Windows import Application from System.IO import FileStream, FileMode app = Application() app.Run(XamlReader.Load(FileStream('WpfApplication7.xaml', FileMode.Open))) and the XAML is: <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="WpfApplication7" Height="300" Width="300"> <Button>Click Me</Button> </Window> Any help would be appreciated.

  • Server crash = How does a TCP/IP (and the browser-client) behave after this?

    - by jens
Hello Experts, i would be thankfull for an explanation what happens with HTTP(TCP/IP) transmissions when the server crashes unexpectedly, how does the client Browser (Firefox / IE) handle this event. What happens in the following two standard cases: Clients-actively sends data: The TCP/IP Connection has been estableshed and the Client (Web-Browser) is Sending a POST Request with some data and in the middle of the process of sending the server crashes. What does this mean for the client? As far as I know TCP/IP does not "acknowledge" a send data-package so the client does not know that the server crashed. How will the client behave? (Firefox and Internet Explorer)? The Server is actively sending data: As above the tcp/ip connection has been established and the Server is sending a large website to the client (browser). In the middle of the sending-process the server crashes, so no futher packets are sent. How does the client browser react to this event (Firefox and Interne Expolrer) Thank you very much!! Jens

  • Qt - A login dialog

    - by Narek
I want to create a login dialog by inheriting QDialog. I put in subclass named LoginDialog 2 QLineEdits: for login for password. I want to be able to warn the user with a message if the caps lock is ON while he will start to fill passwordLineEdit. Suppose I have a function that tells the current state of CapsLock button. So I want to do eventFiltering in LoginDialog class in order to understand that user starts to fill the password field (i.e. user just stepped into the password field) So for that purpose I wrote the following in the LoginDialog class constructor: m_passwordLineEdit->installEventFilter(this); So the only thing is to do is to implement a function which can understand that user is going to fill the password. Seems is should be done with the following function(??): bool LoginDialog::eventFilter(QObject *target, QEvent *event) { if (target == m_passwordLineEdit) { } return QDialog::eventFilter(target, event); } How to implement this function???

    I have a composite component that looks something like this: <!DOCTYPE html> <html xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:dm="http://davemaple.com/dm-taglib" xmlns:rich="http://richfaces.org/rich" xmlns:cc="http://java.sun.com/jsf/composite" xmlns:fn="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/functions" xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets" xmlns:a4j="http://richfaces.org/a4j"> <cc:interface> <cc:attribute name="styleClass" /> <cc:attribute name="textBoxStyleClass" /> <cc:attribute name="inputTextId" /> <cc:attribute name="labelText" /> <cc:attribute name="tabindex" /> <cc:attribute name="required" default="false" /> <cc:attribute name="requiredMessage" /> <cc:attribute name="validatorId" /> <cc:attribute name="converterId" /> <cc:attribute name="title"/> <cc:attribute name="style"/> <cc:attribute name="unicodeSupport" default="false"/> <cc:attribute name="tooltip" default="false"/> <cc:attribute name="tooltipText" default=""/> <cc:attribute name="tooltipText" default=""/> <cc:attribute name="onfail" default=""/> <cc:attribute name="onpass" default=""/> </cc:interface> <cc:implementation> <ui:param name="converterId" value="#{! empty cc.attrs.converterId ? cc.attrs.converterId : 'universalConverter'}" /> <ui:param name="validatorId" value="#{! empty cc.attrs.validatorId ? cc.attrs.validatorId : 'universalValidator'}" /> <ui:param name="component" value="#{formFieldBean.getComponent(cc.attrs.inputTextId)}" /> <ui:param name="componentValid" value="#{((facesContext.maximumSeverity == null and empty component.valid) or component.valid) ? true : false}" /> <ui:param name="requiredMessage" value="#{! empty cc.attrs.requiredMessage ? cc.attrs.requiredMessage : msg['validation.generic.requiredMessage']}" /> <ui:param name="clientIdEscaped" value="#{fn:replace(cc.clientId, ':', '\\\\\\\\:')}" /> <h:panelGroup layout="block" id="#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}ValidPanel" style="display:none;"> <input type="hidden" id="#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Valid" value="#{componentValid}" /> </h:panelGroup> <dm:outputLabel for="#{cc.clientId}:#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}" id="#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Label">#{cc.attrs.labelText}</dm:outputLabel> <dm:inputText styleClass="#{cc.attrs.textBoxStyleClass}" tabindex="#{cc.attrs.tabindex}" id="#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}" required="#{cc.attrs.required}" requiredMessage="#{requiredMessage}" title="#{cc.attrs.title}" unicodeSupport="#{cc.attrs.unicodeSupport}"> <f:validator validatorId="#{validatorId}" /> <f:converter converterId="#{converterId}" /> <cc:insertChildren /> <f:ajax event="blur" execute="@this" render="#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}ValidPanel #{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Msg" onevent="on#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Event" /> </dm:inputText> <rich:message for="#{cc.clientId}:#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}" id="#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Msg" style="display: none;" /> <script> function on#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Event(e) { if(e.status == 'success') { $('##{clientIdEscaped}\\:#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}').trigger($('##{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Valid').val()=='true'?'pass':'fail'); } } $('##{clientIdEscaped}\\:#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}').bind('fail', function() { $('##{clientIdEscaped}\\:#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}, ##{clientIdEscaped}\\:#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Label, ##{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Msg, ##{cc.id}Msg').addClass('error'); $('##{cc.id}Msg').html($('##{clientIdEscaped}\\:#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Msg').html()); #{cc.attrs.onfail} }).bind('pass', function() { $('##{clientIdEscaped}\\:#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}, ##{clientIdEscaped}\\:#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Label, ##{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Msg, ##{cc.id}Msg').removeClass('error'); $('##{cc.id}Msg').html($('##{clientIdEscaped}\\:#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}Msg').html()); #{cc.attrs.onpass} }); </script> <a4j:region rendered="#{facesContext.maximumSeverity != null and !componentValid}"> <script> $(document).ready(function() { $('##{clientIdEscaped}\\:#{cc.attrs.inputTextId}').trigger('fail'); }); </script> </a4j:region> </cc:implementation> </html> I'd like to be able to add an optional "listener" attribute which if defined would add an event listener to my f:ajax but I'm having trouble figuring out how to accomplish this. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Proper binding data to combobox and handling its events.

    - by Wodzu
Hi guys. I have a table in SQL Server which looks like this: ID Code Name Surname 1 MS Mike Smith 2 JD John Doe 3 UP Unknown Person and so on... Now I want to bind the data from this table into the ComboBox in a way that in the ComboBox I have displayed value from the Code column. I am doing the binding in this way: SqlDataAdapter sqlAdapter = new SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM dbo.Users ORDER BY Code", MainConnection); sqlAdapter.Fill(dsUsers, "Users"); cbxUsers.DataSource = dsUsers.Tables["Users"]; cmUsers = (CurrencyManager)cbxUsers.BindingContext[dsUsers.Tables["Users"]]; cbxUsers.DisplayMember = "Code"; And this code seems to work. I can scroll through the list of Codes. Also I can start to write code by hand and ComboBox will autocomplete the code for me. However, I wanted to put a label at the top of the combobox to display Name and Surname of the currently selected user code. My line of though was like that: "So, I need to find an event which will fire up after the change of code in combobox and in that event I will get the current DataRow..." I was browsing through the events of combobox, tried many of them but without a success. For example: private void cbxUsers_SelectionChangeCommitted(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (cmUsers != null) { DataRowView drvCurrentRowView = (DataRowView)cmUsers.Current; DataRow drCurrentRow = drvCurrentRowView.Row; lblNameSurname.Text = Convert.ToString(drCurrentRow["Name"]) + " " + Convert.ToString(drCurrentRow["Surname"]); } } This give me a strange results. Firstly when I scroll via mouse scroll it doesn't return me the row wich I am expecting to obtain. For example on JD it shows me "Mike Smith", on MS it shows me "John Doe" and on UP it shows me "Mike Smith" again! The other problem is that when I start to type in ComboBox and press enter it doesn't trigger the event. However, everything works as expected when I bind data to lblNameSurname.Text in this way: lblNameSurname.DataBindings.Add("Text", dsusers.Tables["Users"], "Name"); The problem here is that I can bind only one column and I want to have two. I don't want to use two labels for it (one to display name and other to display surname). So, what is the solution to my problem? Also, I have one question related to the data selection in ComboBox. Now, when I type something in the combobox it allows me to type letters that are not existing in the list. For example, I start to type "J" and instead of finishing with "D" so I would have "JD", I type "Jsomerandomtexthere". Combobox will allow that but such item does not exists on the list. In other words, I want combobox to prevent user from typing code which is not on the list of codes. Thanks in advance for your time.

  • DropdownList autoposback after client confirmation

    - by Aamir
I have a dropdownlist with the autopostback set to true. I want the user to confirm if they really want to change the value, which on post back fires a server side event (selectedindexchanged). I have tried adding an onchange attribute "return confirm('Please click OK to change. Otherwise click CANCEL?';") but it will not postback regardless of the confirm result and the value in the list does not revert back if cancel selected. When I remove the onchange attribute from the DropdownList tag, the page does postback. It does not when the onchange attribute is added. Do I still need to wire the event handler (I'm on C# .Net 2.0 ). Any leads will be helpful. Thanks!

  • How can I modify a custom object in an ASP.NET FormView based on a button click?

    - by David
I have a FormView that modifies an instance of a custom class. The various form controls (TextBox, DropDownList etc.) are working fine. However, I want to include a Button that will modify the state of the DataItem based on some very simple logic. There is no form control which could control this change in a non-confusing way. So I tried adding a Button and modifying the state of the DataItem in the code-behind. But the problem I encounter is that the FormView's DataItem is null/nothing. From reading this SO question it seems the problem is that the item is not databound when the Button's Click event is fired. So, the question; Is it possible to get the DataItem for the FormView during a Button's Click event? and if not: what are my options for implementing this? Thanks in advance. Edit: I can include any code that might help

  • DataGridView bound to a Dictionary and updated with a thread

    - by Manjoor
I have a Dictionary binded to DataGridView by using following sample code. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/854953/datagridview-bound-to-a-dictionary Please see the above question first The diffrence is that i am updating dictionary from a thread. (Event handler of another class). My Event handler is as below static void f_PriceChanged(Objet f, eventData e) { if (prices.ContainsKey(e.ItemText)) prices[e.ItemText] = e.price; else prices.Add(e.ItemText, e.price); } Not to mention the prices is declared as class level. I have modified the button code from original post as Button btn = new Button(); btn.Dock = DockStyle.Bottom; btn.Click += delegate { bl.Reset(); }; form.Controls.Add(btn); Internally the Dictionary is updated as expected but grid does not update. Clicking on button generate exception Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute What to do?
