  Possible Duplicate: HP Presario CQ 61-322ER (VV884EA) Wi-Fi hang up! I have my new laptop and don't have Windows XP drivers for it. I found that it contains the Broadcom BCM4310 chip, but when I install any Broadcom driver my laptop hangup on installing bcm5*.sys driver. Only power-off button make any effect. After reboot the device list (Device Manager) contains Broadcom WLAN adapter, but it is marked as disabled, for some hardware errror! Also if I disable device before, and install driver - then - all is OK! But when I try to enable it, Windows hang up anyway (no speaker beep, no mouse input, no keyboard input - nothing) What is the solution?

• Trouble with THTML file GDIPL2A.pas

  Running a project and was getting an error saying "Not enough actual parameters" The error is in "C:\Program Files\PBear\HTMLComponents\package\GDIPL2A.pas". The mistake pointed three times to "inherited Create;" lines 260,270 and 278 . In the file "GDIPL2A.pas".the Code is:- var err: integer; begin inherited Create; err := GdipCreateBitmapFromScan0(W, H, 0, PixelFormat32bppARGB, nil, fHandle); if err <> 0 then raise EGDIPlus.Create('Can''t create bitmap'); end; I was wondering why it would show an error in "THTML" files, WHICH ARE NOTHING BUT FILES FROM THE INSTALLATION of THTML.I did not even touch THTML files. • Why does my Windows computer immediately turn back on after sleep/hibernate?

  After clicking sleep or hibernate in Windows 7, my computer loads for a while and then goes into sleep mode, but not 1 second later it powers back up. The event log has no errors and no warnings appear when it comes back out of sleep/hibernation. Here's my system specifications: Asus P5KPL-VM Windows 7 I believe this is all that's relevant. I've installed the latest chipset drivers, but I'm unable to update my BIOS (but this is another matter; maybe because the motherboard in the V3-P5G31 bundle is different). I've also tried turning off the "Allow this device to wake up my computer" for the network card, keyboard, and mouse -- but this makes no difference. If flashing the BIOS is the only thing that will fix this, then I will create a new question to this effect. Maybe I should change the suspend mode from S3 to S1?

• Configure different set of keyboard shortcuts for copy/paste in Photoshop (WIN)

  Being left-handed, I use the mouse in my left hand. In most applications I use Ctrl + Insert or Shift + Insert to copy and paste (with my right hand). For some bone-headed reason, this is not supported in Photoshop, so I have to use right-click Copy sub-menus, which is a lot slower. Is there a way to configure Photoshop to use Ctrl + Insert to copy and Shift + Insert to paste? EDIT: I tried editing keyboard shortcuts, but it will not accept CTRL + INSERT as a valid entry. Is there no valid option for left-handed users?

• When do you need to use a view controller?

  I'm diving into iPhone development and one of the core concepts im trying to get my head around is view controllers. If you look at the GLPaint example on the apple dev site, you'll see a project that has... An app delegate class A uiwindow subclass And a uiview subclass And the uiview subclass implements all the core graphics painting logic and handles the touch events. My questions are, why is there no view controller implemented to handle that view logic? Could you use a view controller to implement that logic or does it have to be implemented in the uiview subclass? And last, when should you use a view controller to implement the view logic code? • Android: Scrollable (bitmap) screen

  I am currently implementing a view in Android that involves using a larger than the screen size bitmap as a background and then having drawables drawn ontop of this. This is so as to simulate a "map" that can be scrolled horizontally aswell as vertically. Which is done by using a canvas and then drawing to this the full "map" bitmap, then putting the other images on top as an overlay and then drawing only the viewable bit of this to screen. Overriding the touch events to redraw the screen on a scroll/fling. I'm sure this probably has a huge ammount of overhead (by creating a canvas of the full image whilst using(drawing) only a fifth of it) and could be done in a different way as to the explained, but I was just wondering what people would do in this situation, and perhaps examples? • Strange SQL problem selecting multiple values for same column

  Hello there, Been at this for a few hours now and I can't make any sense of it. I've used this way of selecting multiple values for same column a few times, but there is something weird with this one. SELECT * FROM employee as s INNER JOIN works AS w1 ON w1.name = s.name INNER JOIN employee AS w2 ON w2.name = s.name INNER JOIN employee AS w3 ON w3.name = s.name WHERE w2.city = 'Washington' Basically what I want to do is find all companies which have people in all the cities. The company name is under 'works'. The problem is however that if I have the WHERE w2.city='Washington' it will make ALL the cities match Washington when it should only touch w2 and leave w3 alone so I could match it with another value. Anyone know why its doing this? Or know a better way to do it. Thank you very much in advance.

• Recording app sound in iphone

  Hi, I am developing a music mixing app in iphone. It'll mix the music and user can compose a new music from it. I need to record this final music. I had used AVAudiorecorder to record this one. But no change. It can record sound from microphone but I need to record app sound. I had used audio queue call back function to record the audio. But when app runs I can hear the audio from my app and I couldn't hear any sound from recorded audio. There is no problem with recording since I can hear the audio recorded through microphone. But I need an offline recorder which can record the audio output of iphone, rather than the audio input through microphone. I need a recorder which can record audio using ipod touch (no microphone). Any help?

• OpenGL multitexture tessellation

  I have to tessellate some surface in OpenGL with rectangular textures. Let it be a single triangle for simplicity. The textures touch each other by sides, and do not overlap. That is done by setting GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_S and GL_TEXTURE_WRAP_T to GL_CLAMP_TO_BORDER and adjusting texture coords properly. Everything goes fine while GL_TEXTURE_MIN_FILTER and GL_TEXTURE_MAG_FILTER is set to GL_NEAREST, but when I want to apply GL_LINEAR filering and/or anisotropic filtering following arifact apperas: textures border pixel's alpha gradually fall to transparent, so that line of background color is visible between neighbouring textures. How can I avoid this artifact without merging multiple textures to one while linear filtering is preserved?

• Firefox 16: Setting to bookmark always to Toolbar by Shortcut?

  The question sounds easy but I could not find a solution using google search. Maybe you have an idea: I am searching for the Firefox setting to bookmark always to the toolbar. If I click CTRL+D the default "Folder" is "Bookmarks Menu". I'd like to have it always "Bookmarks Toolbar", without the need of changing it every time. My question is, if I want to be doing iPhone development, am I going in the right direction? Am I learning the wrong language, or should I be learning Cocoa Touch? • port an iOS (iPhone) app to mac?

  Is there a preferred way to go about this? The app in question is not too large . . . single-player game that I wrote over the course of a couple of months. EDIT: I should add that I have no experience with mac development . . . outside of what comes naturally with being an iOS developer. EDIT: Classes heavily used in the game: subclasses of NSObject, UIView, and UIViewController. I don't know much about NSView, but I'm pretty sure all the UIView stuff will work in that class. Also some use of UITableViewController. I do also have Game Center, but I can leave that part out for now. There is no multi-touch.

• 1TB HDD making strange noise (not a common one)

  I built a new PC some days ago, and everything seems perfect, except that the 1 TB HDD I cloned from my old 500 GB HDD is making a deep weird sound. First of all, every time I access the disk, I hear a deep sound, and when the PC is turning on, I hear some clicking (the rapid clicking is my mouse, I'm opening and closing folders to trigger the vibrating deep weird sound I'm describing). I'm using this 1TB disk for data mainly (I use a SSD as the OS). As background information, the disk is a seagate barracuda 7200 rpm which was RMAd and replaced with a refurbished one. Maybe the refurbished disks make these noises? should I worry about my data? (although the disk is working normal and passed a seagatetools short generic test? Thanks! • Ubuntu 10.10, taskbar

  I launched system monitor to kill one program, which didn't responded on any mouse clicks, etc. But i occasionally killed another process. so, taskbar was killed. (it was in the bottom of the screen, in the top all is good) reboot didnt help o_O. Now I use Alt-Tab and alt-controll-arrows to switch between programs and desktops (it works). How to launch taskbar again? its very strange that reboot didnt help me.

  From time to time firefox cause to my Ubuntu machine to stuck.(nothing run on the machine except firefox) I cant move the mouse or move windows by keyboard. In some cases i have wait for a few minutes and than close last open tab in firefox and it solve the problem in other cases i do restart. Is there any way to prevent it, limit forefox in some way? In windows in most cased even with 100% cpu you can do alt-ctrl-delete and get the task manager, is there a top priority combination in linux that give you terminal? Or any other way ... Run on Ubuntux86 with GNOME , 2GB RAM, dual core cpu

• LLBLGen Pro v3.0 with Entity Framework v4.0 (12m video)

  Today I recorded a video in which I illustrate some of the database-first functionality available in LLBLGen Pro v3.0. LLBLGen Pro v3.0 also supports model-first functionality, which I hope to illustrate in an upcoming video. LLBLGen Pro v3.0 is currently in beta and is scheduled to RTM some time in May 2010. It supports the following frameworks out of the box, with more scheduled to follow in the coming year: LLBLGen Pro RTL (our own o/r mapper framework), Linq to Sql, NHibernate and Entity Framework (v1 and v4). The video I linked to below illustrates the creation of an entity model for Entity Framework v4, by reverse engineering the SQL Server 2008 example database 'AdventureWorks'. The following topics (among others) are included in the video: Abbreviation support (example: convert 'Qty' into 'Quantity' during name construction) Flexible, framework specific settings Attribute definitions for various elements (so no requirement for buddy-classes or messing with generated code or templates) Retrieval of relational model data from a database Reverse engineering of tables into entities, automatically placed in groups Auto-creation of inheritance hierarchies Refactoring of entity fields into Value Type Definitions (DDD) Mapping a Typed view onto a stored procedure resultset Creation of a Typed list (definition of a query with a projection) on a set of related entities Validation and correction of found inconsistencies and errors Generating code using one of the pre-defined presets Illustration of the code in vs.net 2010 It also gives a good overview of what it takes with LLBLGen Pro v3.0 to start from a new project, point it to a database, get an entity model, perform tweaks and validation and generate code which is ready to run. • In 12.04: Failed to load session 'ubuntu' [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: There's an issue with an Alpha/Beta Release of Ubuntu, what should I do? I'm using 12.04 beta. Today I was prompted to install some updates, which I did, followed by a reboot. On reboot, X starts, but all I see is a single dialog window in the middle of the screen with the text: Failed to load session 'ubuntu' I don't even see the mouse, or the login screen, just this 1 line of text. When I hit CTRL+ALT+F1 to run dist-upgrade from a command prompt, I get this: The following packages have been kept back: libgnome-desktop-3-2 So to see why it was kept back, I tried the following: $ sudo apt-get install libgnome-desktop-3-2 ... The following packages have unmet dependencies: libgnome-desktop-3-2 : Depends: gnome-desktop3-data (= 3.3.92-0ubuntu1) but 3.3.91-0ubuntu2 is to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. Anyone else seeing this, or have an idea how to fix it? If you're going to close it as a duplicate, can you please link to the duplicate question?

• Autopostback select lists in ASP.NET MVC using jQuery

  This tiny snippet of code show you how to have your select lists autopostback its containing form when the selected value changes. When the DOM is fully loaded, we get all select nodes that have an attribute of “data-autopostback” with a value of “true”. We wire up the “change” JavaScript event to all these select nodes. This event is fired as soon as the user changes their selection with the mouse.  When the event is fired, we find the closest form tag for the select node that raised the event and submit the form. $(document).ready(function () { $("select:[data-autopostback=true]").change(function () { $(this).closest("form").submit(); }); }); A select tag with autopostback enabled will look like this <select id="selCategory" name="Category" data-autopostback="true"> <option value='1'>Electronics</option> <option value='2'>Books</option> </select> The reason I am using “data-" suffix in the attribute is to be HTML5 Compliant. A custom data attribute is an attribute in no namespace whose name starts with the string "data-", has at least one character after the hyphen, is XML-compatible, and contains no characters in the range U+0041 to U+005A (LATIN CAPITAL LETTER A to LATIN CAPITAL LETTER Z). The snippet can be used with any HTML page.

• Convert OpenGL code to DirectX

  First of all, this is kind of a follow up question on @byte56 excellent anwser on this question concerning picking algorithms. I'm trying to convert one of his code examples to directX 11 however I have run into some problems ( I can pick but the picking is way off), and I wanted to make sure I had done it right before moving on and checking the rest of my code. I am not that familiar with openGl but I can imagine openGl has different coordinations systems, and functions that alters how you must implement to code a bit. The getPickRay function on the answer linked is what I'm trying to convert. This is the part of my code that I think is giving me trouble when converting from openGl to directX Because I'm unsure on how their different coordination systems differs from one another. PRVecX = ((( 2.0f * mouseX) / ClientWidth ) - 1 ) * tan((viewAngle)/2); PRVecY = (1-(( 2.0f * mouseY) / ClientHeight)) * tan((viewAngle)/2); Another thing that I am unsure about is this part: XMVECTOR worldSpaceNear = XMVector3TransformCoord(cameraSpaceNear, invMat); XMVECTOR worldSpaceFar = XMVector3TransformCoord(cameraSpaceFar, invMat); A couple of notes: The mouse coordinates are already converted so that the top left corner of the client window would be (0,0) and the bottom right (800,600) ( or whatever resolution you would have) The viewAngle is the same angle that I used when setting the camera view with XMMatrixPerspectiveFovLH. I removed the variables aspectRatio and zoomFactor because I assumed that they were related to some specific function of his game. To summarize it up to questions : Does the openGL coordination system differ in such a way that this equation in the first of my code examples wouldn't be valid when used in DirectX 11 ( with its respective screen coordination system)? Is the openGL method Matrix4f.transform(a, b, c) equal to the directX method c = XMVector3TransformCoord(b,a)? (where a is a matrix and b,c are vectors). Because I know when it comes to matrices order is important.

• Box Selection and Multi-Line Editing with VS 2010

  This is the twenty-second in a series of blog posts I’m doing on the VS 2010 and .NET 4 release. I’ve already covered some of the code editor improvements in the VS 2010 release.  In particular, I’ve blogged about the Code Intellisense Improvements, new Code Searching and Navigating Features, HTML, ASP.NET and JavaScript Snippet Support, and improved JavaScript Intellisense.  Today’s blog post covers a small, but nice, editor improvement with VS 2010 – the ability to use “Box Selection” when performing multi-line editing.  This can eliminate keystrokes and enables some slick editing scenarios. [In addition to blogging, I am also now using Twitter for quick updates and to share links. Follow me at: twitter.com/scottgu] Box Selection Box selection is a feature that has been in Visual Studio for awhile (although not many people knew about it).  It allows you to select a rectangular region of text within the code editor by holding down the Alt key while selecting the text region with the mouse.  With VS 2008 you could then copy or delete the selected text. VS 2010 now enables several more capabilities with box selection including: Text Insertion: Typing with box selection now allows you to insert new text into every selected line Paste/Replace: You can now paste the contents of one box selection into another and have the content flow correctly Zero-Length Boxes: You can now make a vertical selection zero characters wide to create a multi-line insert point for new or copied text These capabilities can be very useful in a variety of scenarios.  Some example scenarios: change access modifiers (private->public), adding comments to multiple lines, setting fields, or grouping multiple statements together. If you have used plantuml before, you know that you can quickly create sophisitcated UML diagrams without struggling with a designer. Especially those who use Visio to draw UML diagrams (God forbid!), you will be at heaven. This is a super fast way to get your diagrams up and ready for show. You can *write* UML diagrams in plain English, following a simple syntax and get diagrams generated on-the-fly. This editor really saves time designing UML diagrams. I have to produce quick diagrams to convey ideas quickly to Architects, Designers and Developers everyday. So, I use this tool to write some quick diagrams at the speed of coding, and the diagrams get generated on the fly. Instead of writing a long mail explaining some complex operation or some business process in English, I can quickly write it in the editor in almost plain English, and get a nice looking activity/sequence diagram generated instantly. Making major changes is also as easy as doing search-replace and copy-pasting blocks here and there. You don't get such agility in any conventional mouse-based UML designers.
