• Eclipse Indigo very slow on Kubuntu 12.04

  hello fellow ubuntu users! I have a really big problem with my Eclipse Indigo running on Kubuntu 12.04 32bit, Dell Vostro 3500, Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M480 @ 2.67 (as cat /proc/cpuinfo said). • Custom Templates: Using user exits

  One of the features of Oracle Utilities Application Framework V4.1 is the ability to use templates and user exits to extend the base configuration files. The configuration files used by the product are based upon a set of templates shipped with the product. When the configureEnv utility asks for configuration settings they are stored in a configuration file ENVIRON.INI which outlines the environment settings. These settings are then used by the initialSetup utility to populate the various configuration files used by the product using templates located in the templates directory of the installation. Now, whilst the majority of the installations at any site are non-production and the templates provided are generally adequate for that need, there are circumstances where extension of templates are needed to take advantage of more advanced facilities (such as advanced security and environment settings). The issue then becomes that if you alter the configuration files manually (directly or indirectly) then you may lose all your custom settings the next time you run initialSetup. To counter this we allow customers to either override templates with their own template or we now provide user exits in the templates to add fragments of configuration unique to that part of the configuration file. The latter means that the base template is still used but additions are included to provide the extensions. The provision of custom templates is supported but as soon as you use a custom template you are then responsible for reflecting any changes we put in the base template over time. Not a big task but annoying if you have to do it for multiple copies of the product. I prefer to use user exits as they seem to represent the least effort solution. The way to find the user exits available is to either read the Server Administration Guide that comes with your product or look at individual templates and look for the lines: #ouaf_user_exit <user exit name> Where <user exit name> is the name of the user exit. User exits are not always present but are in places that we feel are the most likely to be changed. If a user exit does not exist the you can always use a custom template instead. Now lets show an example. By default, the product generates a config.xml file to be used with Oracle WebLogic. This configuration file has the basic setting contained in it to manage the product. If you want to take advantage of the Oracle WebLogic advanced settings, you can use the console to make those changes and it will be reflected in the config.xml automatically. To retain those changes across invocations of initialSetup, you need to alter the template that generates the config.xml or use user exits. The technique is this. Make the change in the console and when you save the change, WebLogic will reflect it in the config.xml for you. Compare the old version and new version of the config.xml and determine what to add and then find the user exit to put it in by examining the base template. For example, by default, the console is not automatically deployed (it is deployed on demand) in the base config.xml. To make the console deploy, you can add the following line to the templates/CM_config.xml.win.exit_3.include file (for windows) or templates/CM_config.xml.exit_3.include file (for linux/unix): <internal-apps-deploy-on-demand-enabled>false</internal-apps-deploy-on-demand-enabled> Now run initialSetup to reflect the change and if you check the splapp/config/config.xml file you will see the change applied for you. Now how did I know which include file? I check the template for config.xml and found there was an user exit at the right place. I prefixed my include filename with "CM_" to denote it as a custom user exit. This will tell the upgrade tools to leave that file alone whenever you decide to upgrade (or even apply fixes). User exits can be powerful and allow customizations to be added for advanced configuration. You will see products using Oracle Utilities Application Framework use this exits themselves (usually prefixed with the product code). You are also taking advantage of them.

• BizTalk 2009 - The Community ODBC Adapter: Schema Generation

  Having previously detailed the installation of the Community ODBC Adapter for BizTalk 2009, the next thing I will be looking at is the generation of schemas using this ODBC adapter. Within your BizTalk 2009 project, right click the project and select Add Generated Items.  In the resultant window choose Add Adapter Metadata and click Add to open the Add Adapter Wizard. Check that the BizTalk Server and Database names are correct, select the ODBC adapter and click next. You must now set the connection string. To start with choose set, then new DSN (data source name). You now need to define the Data Source you will be connecting to.  On the User DSN tab select Add add then driver you want to use. In this case I am going to use the MySQL ODBC Driver.  A User DSN will only be visible on the current machine with you as a user. * Although I initially set up a User DSN and this was fine for creating schemas with, I later realised that you actually need a system DSN as the BizTalk host service needs this to be able connect to the database on a receive or send port. You will then be asked to Set up the MySQL ODBC Data Source.  In my case this is a local database making use of named pipes, so I had to make sure that I ticked the "Force use of named pipes" check box and removed the "# The Pipe the MySQL Server will use socket=mysql" line from the mysql.ini; with this is place the connection would fail as there is no apparent way to specify the pipe name in the ODBC driver configuration. This will then update the User DSN tab with the new Data Source.  Make sure that you select it and press OK. Select it again in the Choose Data Source window and press OK.  On the ODBC transport window select next. You will now be presented with the Schema Information window, where you must supply the namespace, type and root element names for your schema. Next choose the type of statement that you will be using to create your schema - in this case I am using a stored procedure. *I later discovered that this option is fine for MySQL stored procedures without input parameters, but failed for MySQL stored procedures with input parameters.  (I will be posting on the way to handle input parameters soon) Next you will need to specify the name of the stored procedure.  In this case I have a simple stored procedure to return all the data held by my TestTable in MySQL. Select * from TestTable; The table itself has three columns: Name, Sex and Married. Selecting finish should now hopefully create your schemas based on the input and output from your stored procedure. In my case I have:   An empty schema for the request; after all I have no parameters for the stored procedure.  A response schema comprised of a Table Record with Name, Sex and Married children. • Xdebug: remote debugging won't stop at breakpoints

  I'm having a problem with xdebug not stopping at breakpoints when using remote debugging (everything is fine when running scripts via the command line). It will break at the first line of the program, then exit, not catching any breakpoints. It used to work fine, until I switched over to using MacPorts for Apache and PHP. I've tried re-compiling it serveral times (with several versions), but no dice. I'm using PHP 5.3.1 and Xdebug 2.1.0-beta3 I've also tried at least 3 different debugging programs (MacGDBp, Netbeans and JetBrains Web IDE). My php.ini settings look like: [xdebug] xdebug.remote_enable=1 xdebug.remote_handler=dbgp xdebug.remote_mode=req xdebug.remote_port=9000 xdebug.remote_host=localhost xdebug.idekey=webide And when I log the debugger output, setting a breakpoint looks like this/; <- breakpoint_set -i 895 -t line -f file:///Users/WM_imac/Sites/wm/debug_test.php -n 13 -s enabled -> <response xmlns="urn:debugger_protocol_v1" xmlns:xdebug="http://xdebug.org/dbgp/xdebug" command="breakpoint_set" transaction_id="895" state="enabled" id="890660002"></response> When run, the debugger will get the context of the first line of the application, then send the detach and stop messages. • Opening email attachments in Android

  I try to open a specific email attachment type with my activity, the attachment itself is a plain text windows style ini file with the extension *.os. In the email this file is attached as "application/octet-stream". • Eclipse Helios - Not Stopping at Breakpoints (Help!)

  Dear Eclipse Expert, I recently upgraded from Eclipse Galileo to Helios. Helios stops at breakpoints ONLY when debugging "as a PHP Script", but not when debugging "as a Web Page". When debugging as a web page, it looks like the correct debug query string to start a debug session is getting tacked on to the url, like so: http://localhost/hello.php?XDEBUG_SESSION_START=ECLIPSE_DBGP &KEY=129798139020511 but elipse does not stop at the breakpoints. It just zooms thru the code and displays the output in the browser.   My issue is that I cannot add SourceSafe Database for source control within Visual Studio 2010. Our team was initially using VSS for source control in Visual Studio 2010. During an evaluation of TFS, I switched my source control to TFS. It will be a few weeks before a decision is made on TFS, so I needed to switch my source control back to VSS. However I'm now unable to add a SourceSafe Database in Visual Studio. Steps to Reproduce in Visual Studio 2010: 1) Access the 'Open SourceSafe Database' form via Tools-Options-Source Control-Plug-in Settings--Advanced or via File-Source Control 2) The list of available database is blank so I choose 'Browse'. 3) I browse to the srcsafe.ini file for my VSS database and select it. 4) I'm promted to confirm the Database Name - Click OK. 5) The database does not appear in the 'Open SourceSafe' Database form. The list of available databases is still blank. Note that I can add the database fine outside of Visual Studio using VSS directly. However the databases I add via VSS do not appear in the Visual Studio forms. I'm suspicious that this is related to "down-grading" from TFS to VSS which may not have been heavily tested at MS. Any assistance is appreciated.

• Can I autogenerate/compile code on-the-fly, at runtime, based upon values (like key/value pairs) parsed out of a configuration file?

  This might be a doozy for some. I'm not sure if it's even 100% implementable, but I wanted to throw the idea out there to see if I'm really off of my rocker yet. I have a set of classes that mimics enums (see my other questions for specific details/examples). For 90% of my project, I can compile everything in at design time. But the remaining 10% is going to need to be editable w/o re-compiling the project in VS 2010. This remaining 10% will be based on a templated version of my Enums class, but will generate code at runtime, based upon data values sourced in from external configuration files. To keep this question small, see this SO question for an idea of what my Enums class looks like. The templated fields, per that question, will be the MaxEnums Int32, Names String() array, and Values array, plus each shared implementation of the Enums sub-class (which themselves, represent the Enums that I use elsewhere in my code).   I'm unable to access the request object in my Pylons 0.9.7 controller when I set debug = false in the .ini file. I have the following code: def run_something(self): print('!!! request = %r' % request) print('!!! request.params = %r' % request.params) yield 'Stuff' With debugging enabled this works fine and prints out: !!! request = <Request at 0x9571190 POST http://my_url> !!! request.params = UnicodeMultiDict([... lots of stuff ...]) If I set debug = false I get the following: !!! request = <paste.registry.StackedObjectProxy object at 0x4093790> Error - <type 'exceptions.TypeError'>: No object (name: request) has been registered for this thread The stack trace confirms that the error is on the print('!!! request.params = %r' % request.params) line. I'm running it using the Paste server and these two lines are the very first lines in my controller method. This only occurs if I have yield statements in the method (even though the statements aren't reached). I'm guessing Pylons sees that it's a generator method and runs it on some other thread. My questions are: How do I make it work with debug = false ? Why does it work with debug = true ? Obviously this is quite a dangerous bug, since I normally develop with debug = true, so it can go unnoticed during development.

• Problems with zend-tool reporting that providers are not valid

  I have recently setup XAMPP 1.7.3 and ZendFramework 1.10.4 on a new computer and many of the commands that I normally use now fail. Here are the steps I used to setup and test ZF. First I added the ZF library folder (C:\xampp\php\ZendFramework-1.10.4\library) to the include path in php.ini. Then I added the ZF bin folder (C:\xampp\php\ZendFramework-1.10.4\bin) to my Path system variable. To test that everything is configured correctly I ran the command "zf show version" from the command line. The result is "Zend Framework Version: 1.9.6". Immediately something appears to be wrong. The file that is downloaded is "ZendFramework-1.10.4.zip" and the reported version is 1.9.6. I have re-downloaded the latest version (1.10.4) and removed old copy. Still the incorrect version number problem persisted. Having done some research there is a bug in the ZF knowledgebase that version 1.10.3 reports a wrong version number. So that may explain the version number problem. Moving forward I tried to run some zf-tool commands and certain commands reports that the action or provider is not valid. • PHP File upload fails with blank screen when size exceeds 742 KB.

  Hi friends, This is one of the most bizarre errors I've come across. So I've written a little file upload web app for my friend and it works fine for any file less than or equal to 742kB in size. Needless to say, I arrived at this precise number based on relentless testing. Weird part is that if the file size is just a few KB more, for example 743 or 750, I get an error saying "MySQL has gone away". But if it is 1MB or more, then I just get a blank screen. And it happens in less than 2 seconds after I hit the upload button. So it doesn't look like a time-out to me. I checked out the PHP.ini file for post size and upload size, they are all set to 5 MB or more. And the timeout is set to 60 seconds. The uploaded file sits in MySQL database in a field of datatype mediumblob. I tried changing that to longblob. But that didn't help either. Any help? Thanks for reading, Girish

  Hi all! I need help with some rules in ISAPI_Rewrite in my installation. (If you only know mod_rewrite could be a good help to, so I would adapt the configuration). I'm going to be very honest about my needs. I need to do this configuration in the next few hours, and don't have time right now understand everything about rewrites, regular expressions and such. I really think you can help me, if I had more reputation I would even set up a bounty... :( In fact, I believe that what I need is simple: I have a .com domain. The main url of my website is going to be http:// www.mainurl.com/. I have two other domains: mainurl.net and mainurl.org. What I need (in isapi-rewrite 2, the config made with httpd.ini file in root file) is: everytime someone writes mainurl.net in browser it becomes http:// www.mainurl.com/ 301 redirect. If it's written without www becomes http:// www.mainurl.com/. If someone writes mainurl.net/about it becomes http:// www.mainurl.com/about/.   I have a problem getting Mercurial to recognise my editor. I have a file, c:\windows\notepad.exe and typing "notepad" at the command prompt works. I can commit by using the "-m" argument to supply the commit title. But a simple "hg commit" brings up the error. • How do I correctly install dulwich to get hg-git working on Windows?

  I'm trying to use the hg-git Mercurial extension on Windows (Windows 7 64-bit, to be specific). I have Mercurial and Git installed. I have Python 2.5 (32-bit) installed. I followed the instructions on http://hg-git.github.com/ to install the extension. The initial easy_install failed because it was unable to compile dulwich without Visual Studio 2003. I installed dulwich manually by: git clone git://git.samba.org/jelmer/dulwich.git cd dulwich c:\Python25\python setup.py --pure install Now when I run easy_install hg-git, it succeeds (since the dulwich dependency is satisfied). In my C:\Users\username\Mercurial.ini, I have: [extensions] hgext.bookmarks = hggit = When I type 'hg' at a command prompt, I see: "* failed to import extension hggit: No module named hggit" Looking under my c:\Python25 folder, the only reference to hggit I see is Lib\site-packages\hg_git-0.2.1-py2.5.egg. Is this supposed to be extracted somewhere, or should it work as-is? Since that failed, I attempted the "more involved" instructions from the hg-git page that suggested cloning git://github.com/schacon/hg-git.git and referencing the path in my Mercurial configuration. I cloned the repo, and changed my extensions file to look like: [extensions] hgext.bookmarks = hggit = c:\code\hg-git\hggit Now when I run hg, I see: * failed to import extension hggit from c:\code\hg-git\hggit: No module named dulwich.errors. Ok, so that tells me that it is finding hggit now, because I can see in hg-git\hggit\git_handler.py that it calls from dulwich.errors import HangupException That makes me think dulwich is not installed correctly, or not in the path. Update: From Python command line: import dulwich yields Import Error: No module named dulwich However, under C:\Python25\Lib\site-packages, I do have a dulwich-0.5.0-py2.5.egg folder which appears to be populated. This was created by the steps mentioned above. Is there an additional step I need to take to make it part of the Python "path"?

• pgsql.so is not loaded in PHP

  Hi, I've been tasked to create a PHP app which accesses an existing PostgreSQL database. This is my first time working with Postgre, not to mention the PHP has already been installed in the Linux box on which the app is supposed to run. I have no experience setting up this stuff, I just code. My question is that I can't seem to get the Postgre extension working in PHP. I checked the php.ini file, there were no "extension=..." lines. So I added "extension=pgsql.so". I then checked the "extension_dir" and found that there were only 2 files in there (ldap.so, phpcups.so), I added a pgsql.so file taken from another Linux box. I restarted httpd. And it does not work. I couldn't find any "pgsql" or "postgre" in phpinfo(). Forgive my noobness. I know too little Linux. I would really appreciate it if you can point me to the right direction.

  All, I am working on a Zend Framework based web application. We keep encountering out of memory errors on our dev server: Allowed memory size of XXXX bytes exhausted (tried YYYY... We keep increasing memory_limit in php.ini, but it is now up over 1000 megs. What is a normal memory_limit value? What are the usual suspects in php/Zend for running out of memory? We are using the Propel ORM. Thanks for all of the help! Update I cannot reproduce this error in my windows environment. If I set memory_limit low (say 16M), I get the same error, but the "tried to allocate" amount is always something reasonable. For example: (tried to allocate 13344 bytes) If I set the memory very low on the (Fedora 9) server (such as 16M), I get the same thing. consistent, reasonable out of memory errors. However, even when the memory limit is set very high on our server (128M, for example), maybe once a week, I will get an crazy huge memory error: (tried to allocate 1846026201 bytes). I don't know if that might shed any more light onto what is going on. We are using propel 1.5. It sounds like the actual release is going to come out later this month, but it doesn't look like anyone else is having this problem with it anyway. I don't know that Propel is the problem. We are using Zend Server with php 5.2 on the Linux box, and 5.3 locally. Any more ideas? I have a ticket out to get Xdebug installed on the Linux box. Thanks, -rep

• Codeigniter: Base_url doesn't seem to be working

  I have developed a simple site that fetches tweets from the Twitter public timeline, caches them for 60 seconds and so on. I have recently moved hosts from Hostgator to Mediatemple and my site was previously working fine on Hostgator. My application doesn't use a database connection, nor does it use any form of flat-file database either. Tweets are cached in an XML file stored in the root directory, not that most of that is important. The url helper is being included as can be seen below (this is my helpers line from autoload.php): $autoload['helper'] = array('url'); I have also removed my index.php file from the URL using .htaccess directives and once again this was previously working on Hostgator (see my .htaccess code below): RewriteEngine On RewriteRule ^(application) - [F,L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule .* index.php/$0 [PT,L] In my home.php view file which is in the views folder inside of application, I am using the function base_url() which was previously working on Hostgator inside of my view files and appending it a base href value in my header: <base href="<?php echo base_url(); ?>" /> Here is what my base_url value looks like in the config.php file: $config['base_url'] = "http://threetune.com/"; Although what appears to be happening is that the base_url is not to be seen at all. It doesn't appear to be echoing out the value of base_url as it appears to be empty for some reason. What makes things weirder is that I have a link in another view file called 'fetch.php' and for some reason it appears to be stripping out the value (XSS filtering is off): <a href="threetune/show"><img src="assets/images/cookie.jpg" /></a> The threetune/show part is not to be seen and I only see an empty href value like this <a href=""><img src="assets/images/cookie.jpg" /></a> Can anyone possibly see anything wrong that I may have done, some kind of Mediatemple server limitation or PHP.ini flag that needs to be set?
