  • Storing Cards and PCI Compliance

    I'm developing a SaaS service and will be managing payments as a merchant for customers, and since we'll be using multipe payment processors depending on users location, amount and other factors so its important to store card details. I did some research and from what I understood all you need is a PCI compliant host (VPS, Dedicated or Private Cloud) and get it validated and certified through some provider like TrustWave etc... Is that correct or am I missing something? Also, would be great if you could suggest a few (not necessasrily cheap, but affordable) PCI compliant hosts. Many thanks

  • how do you create a simple obejctice-c command line project in xcode

    im moving from a c# VS2008 world into the mac world and I just wanted to know how I can create a quick little command line based application so that I can write many little objective-c apps without worrying about creating an iPhone app or whatever. Which projects do I create in xcode? I can see the Command Line Tool under "Mac os x" but the only options for the type is "C", "C++", "Core Data", "Core Foundation", "Core Services" and "Foundation" but no simple objective c project?   • apache running but site not accessible

    Am pretty new to server administration. So I am not able to get to the root of the problem. I am running Apache2 with mod_php on a 1GB Rackspace Cloud Server (Ubuntu 9.10). My site goes down often, and I have to restart apache2 to get the site working. I checked the "error.log" file. There were no signs of any error messages. I even searched for words like [error] / error / warn / [warn] . But no results. The site goes down and even then apache is running. When the site was down, the checked the status /etc/init.d/apache2 status and it gave ** * Apache is running (pid 433). ** Any suggestions where I should look for the problem. Thanks a lot.

How to display some picture and make main window in black&white while calculating? Maybe make some dp in MainWindow a la "IsBusy" and bind a popup with picture to it?   • Serve my website from different server during downtime

    I have a VPS server running in the cloud. Fully automated server image upgrade/downgrade(by RAM/HDD plans). The problem is that server upgrade/downgrade takes time and involves total unavailability during this period(up to 30 minutes). Goal: during this downtime server my website(http://mydomain.here) from different server with some message like "Under construction". How can I do this? -- mydomain.here is hosted on godaddy and uses its DNS(If I call it right). It's pointing with A-record to my VPS's IP address now. Change in these DNS settings will take more than 30minutes, so it's not an option. How can I find mode "dynamic" DNS? What should I learn?

  • RVM: how can I dynamically export gem executable directory in my path?

    I installed rvm as root to setup an Ubuntu LTS 8.04 as a web hosting server for my rails apps. rvm is installed in: /usr/local/rvm Everything works fine, gems installation included and users are able to use ruby and gem commands. sudo gem install rails My problem is that the gems EXECUTABLE DIRECTORY is not included in my PATH and thus I cannot use rails command. Is there a way to dynamycally include gems executable directory in my PATH? Can it be done directly through rvm?

    In my iPhone app, I am using the UIImagePickerController with source type UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypeCamera. When the user takes a picture, the phone plays the familiar camera shutter sound. How can I replace this with my own custom sound?     I'm using will_paginate in a facebook application and when i click on the next button or a page number i get the url below. This is fine if everyone was using safari, but it breaks on ie and ff. As far as I understand native xml databases might form a proper solution for my case. They obviously store xml documents in highly efficient way. It would be great to learn your experience.   • Best practice for ONLY allowing MySQL access to a server?

    Here's the use case: I have a SaaS system that was built (dev environment) on a single box. I've moved everything to a cloud environment running Ubuntu 10.10. One server runs the application, the other runs the database. The basic idea is that the server that runs the database should only be accessible by the application and the administrator's machine, who both have correct RSA keys. My question: Would it be better practice to use a firewall to block access to ALL ports except MySQL, or skip firewall / iptables and just disable all other services / ports completely? Furthermore, should I run MySQL on a non-standard port? This database will hold quite sensitive information and I want to make sure I'm doing everything possible to properly safeguard it. Thanks in advance. I've been reading here for a while but this is the first question that I've asked. I'll try to answer some as well = )
