    I am not getting and event data in GA. I installed Google Analytics Debugger Chrome extension and I see nothing happening (same goes when looking at Network panel in developer tools). I Googled it and read many (many) other answers and it looks like I'm doing things right. Page views, etc. are registering correctly...     I'm trying to capture the clicks of certain download links and track them in Google Analytics. In my debugging linkhref is being passed fine as a string. No abnormal characters, nothing. The issue is that, watching my http requests, Google never makes a second call to the tracking gif (as it does if you call this function in an "onclick" property). Calling the tracker from my JS console also works as expected. It's only in my listener. Could it be that my listener is not deferring the default action (loading the new page) before it has a chance to contact Google's servers? I've seen other tracking scripts that do a similar thing without any deferral.

    I need to get an idea of the average "time on page" or "page view duration" for each page on my websites without client-side scripting (such as using onunload event handler). Is any of the free log analyzers capable of doing this? I looked at Webalizer, AWStats and Analog, but they don't seem to have such a function. The closest thing is "visits duration" in AWStats, but I'd like to see "page view duration" instead. I know that visitor tracking is inaccurate without client-side scripting, but I can bear with it. Google Analytics seems to provide a "time on page" metric without hooking the onunload event (but correct me if I'm wrong), so I believe this is possible.

I am looking for a way to automatically redirect a user to a site and maintain the redirect site as the referral site. Let me explain the process and what is needed in a step by step format. User clicks on a desired link in an email User is navigated to testdomain.com User is automatically redirected to test.com/landing test.com sees testdomain.com as the referral site Data is gathered via Google Analytics I am unsure as if this PHP code will take care of it, or not - header("Location: http://google.com", true, 303); I could test and that is most likely what I am going to do. But I would like to understand a little more as to WHY this would or WHY this wouldn't work.

    When first visiting my site after not visiting it for a few minutes, the connection is "reset" 100% of the time. I get this message when debug is turned on, along with a 400 bad request status message: client prematurely closed connection while reading client request line I've read that this could be caused by large_client_header_buffers setting. I have google analytics on my site.     I just installed qt-creator to work on non-qt C++ projects. The installed version is 2.5.0 (Based on Qt 4.8.2 32-bit) If I click on any of these pages: I get this error: I realized that /etc/hosts file has the following entry: 127.0.0.1 www.google-analytics.com I don't want to remove the entry from the hosts file because it's always been there along with thousands of other similar adservices/porn/malware addresses. I do not intend to say that qt-creator is looking to create problems in my computer, but I am genuinely interested to know why qt-creator needs to connect to google-analytics? Can this be disabled and qt-creator can still be functional?

I did: Cookies clearing, ran cc cleaner and several other nifty methods. None solved my problem?? Only with facebook, if I enter https:// manually instead of http:// on every url on facebook, it works and when it does the redirection to http://, everytime I have to type 's' on the address bar to make it https:// It is driving me nuts coz I'm developing Facebook App and this problem in being pain in my ass.   • Possible Google Analytics Bug - Traffic Sources Total Visits not matching Total Visits in other repo

    Hello, Has anyone else seen this issue? As of roughly 2 weeks ago, I get conflicting figures for the Total Visits metric between the Traffic Sources report and the other reports (e.g. Visitors, Dashboard). For example, for the week of 5/9/2010 through 5/15/2010, the Dashboard and Visitors reports both say 386 Visits. The Traffic Sources report says 157 Visits, and the 4 main source types (Search, Direct, Referral, Other) sum to 157 Visits, not 386. Any ideas? Is this a known bug, or could there be a configuration issue? Thanks.

    I have a project i am working on currently and would like to implement some sort of software tracking in the code. ideally, stuff like how often its launched. how long it runs for, feature tracking, etc. I already use Exceptioneer for unhandled exceptions, but would like something similar for usage tracking. this data should all be anonymous and ideally run as a service by someone else. and i would like to give the users the option to turn it off, if they so wish to... So, is this something i should implement myself, or are there third parties out there that do this sort of things? i know it might be a sticky area, but i have seen stats about iPhone app usage. they do it, so why cant we? (if the user agrees, of course) [Update] Based on the comments, i should have been more clear. this is a Winforms .NET 4. application, though i am thinking of updating it later with WCF. i would only be tracking my own application, though i would also want to know minor information about environment (Windows OS Version, SP, maybe proc and ram...)

I'm looking to create a function that can detect if Google Analytics has been loaded by searching through the DOM looking for "__utm.gif". document.images doesn't seem to hold this image as it's loaded asynchronously and not displayed.

    I'm using the great (IMHO) jQuery Address plugin but it's been driving me insane since I didn't know that it automatically tracked the pages on Google Analytics. How do I keep it from doing it? I tried this but apparently it's never called. $.address.tracker(function(){console.log("hello")}) I guess I could somehow overwrite the function in the plugin but I hope there's a better way...
