  • How to secure a directory in Apache using a PHP session

    - by Cogsy
I have a site that uses PHP session for authentication. There is one directory that I would like to restrict access to that does not use any PHP, it's just full of static content. I just don't know how to restrict access without every request going through a PHP script. Is there some way to have Apache check the session credentials and restrict access like Basic Auth?

  • Configuring IP-aliasing on a CentOS Apache server

    - by Saif Bechan
I am trying out a method to implement IP-aliasing on an Apache server. Host multiple SSL sites on a single network card with IP aliasing I have followed all the steps, but when I browse to my second domain I always end up in my primary domain. Have anyone tried this method and is this even possible?

  • How do I enable PHP apache_request_headers() or change PHP into an apache module

    - by inac
PHP, WHM, and several other services are already installed on a CentOS x64 server I am trying to migrate data to. Many of my existing PHP scripts are dependent on PHP's apache_request_headers() function, which the current server's PHP configuration does not support. Apparently, compiling PHP as an Apache module is one solution, but are there other ways to enable this (without uninstalling PHP, reinstalling, etc., and all dependent services), perhaps as easy as modifying php.ini, somehow?

  • Logging Redirect Location in Apache

    - by matthew
Using the standard "Combined" log format, when Apache returns a 301 response it logs it in the access log, which is good, but it only logs the response code. It doesn't log the location to which the client is being directed. What argument do I need to add to the CustomLog format in order to get it to log this information? It wasn't obvious to me from the documentation.

  • Apache server completely freezes until it gets restarted

    - by nbv4
My server does this every few days. What sucks is that it always seems to do this right after I go to bed, so when I wake up, I'm greeted with the fact that my server has been down for the past 6 or 7 hours. When I first noticed this, I added a cronjob that tries to restart the server every 15 minutes, but I guess that didn't fix it. Once I noticed the server was down, I can this command: /etc/init.d/apache2 restart * Restarting web server apache2 apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName ... waiting ...........................................................apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName httpd (pid 17597) already running ...which is odd, because a restart should restart the server, even if it's already running, correct? I eventually had to "stop" then "start" to get it working again. I then looked through the logs, and found something very weird. It seems that around the time the server crashed, the logs have entries that are wildly out of order. It looks a little like this: xx.xxx.xxx.x - - [21/Apr/2010:06:32:05 -0400] "GET / blah" xx.xxx.xxx.x - - [21/Apr/2010:06:51:25 -0400] "GET / blah" x.xx.xxx.xxx - - [21/Apr/2010:06:38:23 -0400] "GET / blah" xxx.xx.xx.xx - - [21/Apr/2010:06:31:56 -0400] "GET / blah" xxx.xx.xx.xx - - [21/Apr/2010:06:51:49 -0400] "GET / blah" xx.xx.xxx.xx - - [21/Apr/2010:06:33:20 -0400] "GET / blah" I don't think the problem is memory, because this: tells me that right before the crash, memory usage is fine. I'm running apache with the worker mpm, here are the settings for that: <IfModule mpm_worker_module> StartServers 1 MaxClients 100 MinSpareThreads 5 MaxSpareThreads 10 ThreadsPerChild 10 MaxRequestsPerChild 3000 </IfModule> This apache server is running a bunch of stuff, but most of the traffic comes from a django project I'm hosting, that uses mod_wsgi. There also is a simple machines forum that is running off of mod_fcgid. Those setting are below: <IfModule mod_fcgid.c> MaxRequestsPerProcess 500 MaxProcessCount 3 AddHandler fcgid-script .php .fcgi AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl FCGIWrapper "/usr/bin/php-cgi" .php </IfModule> Anyone know of anything else I can check? I've just about tweaked every single setting I can think of, yet these freezes still happen.

  • is this a hacker or normal apache logs?

    - by Max
Hey, just checked my Apache logs and stumbled upon this log: Client denied by server configuration. What I found weird, are the different phpMyAdmin versions. The IP is in Czech: http://whois.domaintools.com/188.120.221.206 Am I just too overcautious?

  • Apache log - file does not exist

    - by Ivan
I have quite a few of these in Apache logs piling up every day: [Mon Jun 09 20:42:58 2014] [error] [client 180.153.214.181] File does not exist: /home/user/public_html/ajax.googleapis.com, referer: http://www.mysite.com//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.11.1/jquery.min.js I have over 200k visitors per day but a few of them like a dozen or so are generating the above error. I can't figure out what may be causing it. Checked the html code and it's all good so I ran out of ideas.

  • apache mix name and ip based virtual hosts and ssl

    - by Anonymous Coward
Hi Everyone I'm trying to configure apache 2.2 so that I can use two IPs. One for name based virtual hosts which should all use the same ssl-key and the other one for just one ip based host which should be using an other ssl-key. But it seems that when ever I get either the ip based or name based host to work the other one breaks. Can someone tell me how to do this on a debian system or at least point me in the right direction? Thanks

  • munin to monitor apache hits on particular URLs

    - by bobinabottle
We are having a problem with our web application, and are currently monitoring performance via munin. We have defined a list of URLs that are causing problems, and am hoping for munin to find out from the apache logs when those urls are being hit. Does anyone know how to set this up? Thanks! :)

  • How to serve 410 from Apache rather than a 404

    - by DanSingerman
On our site, we tend to remove pages a lot where the content has expired, and we want to return http status 410 rather than 404 for requests to pages (physical files) that don't exist on our server (the entire site is made up of static files). We have tried from http://diveintomark.org/archives/2003/03/27/http_error_410_gone but that just breaks our entire site, serving a 410 for every request. We are using Apache 2.2.3

  • Can you work with SSJS on apache?

    - by DMin
I just stumbled upon SSJS - Server Side JavaScript - It sounds very interesting but the information about it on the internet is very scant and contradictory. Do you know if this can be implemented on an Apache webserver? If yes, does this work by default or does something else need to be installed and if it does work by default how are the files to be named and executed. Thanks in advance :)

  • Apache / Postfix / Cyrus question

    - by Lerikun
Apache: I have multiple domains on one hosting. I have a web-management software listening to port 3000 and one phpmyadmin. Can I restrict access to a certain domain? I mean that example.com:3000 will work and notexample.com:3000 not? (same for phpmyadmin) UPD: I have 3 IP's pointing to that host. Postfix/Cyrus: What is the right config to reject emails to mailboxes which do not even exist? (LDAP) Thanks

  • Browser displays 'Apache is functioning normally' when I enter 'http://you/' in the location bar

    - by bobo
I am on a Mac and when I enter http://you/ in the location bar, it displays 'Apache is functioning normally' no matter which browser (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) I am using. Is this normal? Or could it be that my computer is hacked in some way and is now acting as a server for the hackers? EDIT: I originally wanted to go to the youtube.com, but entered http://you/ by accident and found out this strange behavior.
