  • multi-dimensional ArrayList

    - by wishi
    Hi! Just a very small question... I seem to run into too much complexity here: I have to realize an index-structure like {42, someString}. I tried: Object entry[][] = new Object[1][1]; ArrayList<Object> my_list = new ArrayList<Object>(); However that looks really strange. Isn't there a better much simpler solution to just store some Integer and a String? I need to perfrom search for the Strings and return the Integer... so I thought Collections and ArrayLists are good friends in the Java API.

  • Sum multi dimensional array based on a key in php

    - by user1328178
    I have mutiple arrays say for now 2, first array has Cities(Mumbai, Pune. Bangalore, Hyderabad) And 2nd array has Mumbia nad Hyderabd. I want to sum up the values based on the Key. Array ( [Mumbai] = Array ( [ga:pageviews] = 1 [ga:visits] = 1 [ga:newVisits] = 1 [ga:pageviewsPerVisit] = 1 [ga:entranceBounceRate] = 1 [ga:avgTimeOnSite] = 1 [ga:timeOnSite] = 1 [ga:bounces] = 1 ) [Pune] => Array ( [ga:pageviews] => 2 [ga:visits] => 2 [ga:newVisits] => 2 [ga:pageviewsPerVisit] => 2 [ga:entranceBounceRate] => 2 [ga:avgTimeOnSite] => 2 [ga:timeOnSite] => 2 [ga:bounces] => 2 ) [Bangalore] => Array ( [ga:pageviews] => 3 [ga:visits] => 3 [ga:newVisits] => 3 [ga:pageviewsPerVisit] => 3 [ga:entranceBounceRate] => 3 [ga:avgTimeOnSite] => 3 [ga:timeOnSite] => 3 [ga:bounces] => 3 ) [Hyderabad] => Array ( [ga:pageviews] => 4 [ga:visits] => 4 [ga:newVisits] => 4 [ga:pageviewsPerVisit] => 4 [ga:entranceBounceRate] => 4 [ga:avgTimeOnSite] => 4 [ga:timeOnSite] => 4 [ga:bounces] => 4 ) ) 2nd Array: Array ( [Mumbai] = Array ( [ga:pageviews] = 5 [ga:visits] = 5 [ga:newVisits] = 5 [ga:pageviewsPerVisit] = 5 [ga:entranceBounceRate] = 5 [ga:avgTimeOnSite] = 5 [ga:timeOnSite] = 5 [ga:bounces] = 5 ) [Hyderabad] => Array ( [ga:pageviews] => 2 [ga:visits] => 2 [ga:newVisits] => 2 [ga:pageviewsPerVisit] => 2 [ga:entranceBounceRate] => 2 [ga:avgTimeOnSite] => 2 [ga:timeOnSite] => 2 [ga:bounces] => 2 ) ) I want the result as: Array ( [Mumbai] = Array ( [ga:pageviews] = 6 [ga:visits] = 6 [ga:newVisits] = 6 [ga:pageviewsPerVisit] = 6 [ga:entranceBounceRate] = 6 [ga:avgTimeOnSite] = 6 [ga:timeOnSite] = 6 [ga:bounces] = 6 ) [Pune] => Array ( [ga:pageviews] => 2 [ga:visits] => 2 [ga:newVisits] => 2 [ga:pageviewsPerVisit] => 2 [ga:entranceBounceRate] => 2 [ga:avgTimeOnSite] => 2 [ga:timeOnSite] => 2 [ga:bounces] => 2 ) [Bangalore] => Array ( [ga:pageviews] => 3 [ga:visits] => 3 [ga:newVisits] => 3 [ga:pageviewsPerVisit] => 3 [ga:entranceBounceRate] => 3 [ga:avgTimeOnSite] => 3 [ga:timeOnSite] => 3 [ga:bounces] => 3 ) [Hyderabad] => Array ( [ga:pageviews] => 6 [ga:visits] => 6 [ga:newVisits] => 6 [ga:pageviewsPerVisit] => 6 [ga:entranceBounceRate] => 6 [ga:avgTimeOnSite] => 6 [ga:timeOnSite] => 6 [ga:bounces] => 6 ) ) Thanks for your help....   • Converting Single dimensional vector or array to two dimension in Matlab

    - by pac
    Well I do not know if I used the exact term. I tried to find an answer on the net. Here is what i need: I have a vector a = 1 4 7 2 5 8 3 6 9 If I do a(4) the value is 4. So it is reading first column top to buttom then continuing to next .... I don't know why. However, What I need is to call it using two indices. As row and column: a(3,2)= 4 or even better if i can call it in the following way: a{3}(2)=4 What is this process really called (want to learn) and how to perform in matlab. I thought of a loop. Is there a built in function Thanks a lot Check this: a = 18 18 16 18 18 18 16 0 0 0 16 16 18 0 18 16 0 18 18 16 18 0 18 18 0 16 0 0 0 18 18 0 18 18 16 0 16 0 18 18 >> a(4) ans = 18 >> a(5) ans = 18 >> a(10) ans = 18 I tried reshape. it is reshaping not converting into 2 indeces

  • Question about domain models & their visibility...

    - by Another SO User
    I was involved in an interesting debate about the visibility of domain models & was wondering if people here have any good guidance. Per my understanding of MDA, we need not expose the domain model throughout the application layers & tiers The reason being that any change to the domain model has an impact in the overall application The wise thing to do would be to expose light-weight object (DTO's) which are a small sub-set of the domain model to abstract the actual model On the flip side, any change to the domain model would mean changing various DTO's throughout the application for the change to be visible, while if we do expose the domain model, then the change is in a single location Hope to see some comments & thoughts about this. Appreciate all the help!

  • C# 3 dimensional array definition issue

    - by George2
    Hello everyone, My following code has compile error, Error 1 Cannot implicitly convert type 'TestArray1.Foo[,,*]' to 'TestArray1.Foo[][][]' C:\Users\lma\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\TestArray1\TestArray1\Program.cs 17 30 TestArray1 Does anyone have any ideas? Here is my whole code, I am using VSTS 2008 + Vista 64-bit. namespace TestArray1 { class Foo { } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Foo[][][] foos = new Foo[1, 1, 1]; return; } } } EDIT: version 2. I have another version of code, but still has compile error. Any ideas? Error 1 Invalid rank specifier: expected ',' or ']' C:\Users\lma\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\TestArray1\TestArray1\Program.cs 17 41 TestArray1 Error 2 Invalid rank specifier: expected ',' or ']' C:\Users\lma\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\TestArray1\TestArray1\Program.cs 17 44 TestArray1 namespace TestArray1 { class Foo { } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Foo[][][] foos = new Foo[1][1][1]; return; } } } EDIT: version 3. I think I want to have a jagged array. And after learning from the fellow guys. Here is my code fix, and it compile fine in VSTS 2008. What I want is a jagged array, and currently I need to have only one element. Could anyone review whether my code is correct to implement my goal please? namespace TestArray1 { class Foo { } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Foo[][][] foos = new Foo[1][][]; foos[0] = new Foo[1][]; foos[0][0] = new Foo[1]; foos[0][0][0] = new Foo(); return; } } } thanks in advance, George

  • Django Show M2M field in both model forms

    - by John
    Hi I am using the forms.ModelForm to create my form. I want to be able to show the manytomany field in both model forms, how do I do this? If the manytomany relationship is defined in the model it is fine and just appears but if it is not in the model (but is still linked via the other model) it does not appear. Hope this makes sense. How can I make it show up? Thanks

  • Printing Two Dimensional Array in Special Format

    - by user554313
    Hello everybody, I am working in a small task that allow the user to enter the regions of any country and store them in one array. Also, each time he enters a region, the system will ask him to enter the neighbours of that entered region and store these neighbours. I did the whole task but I have a small problem: I could not be able to print each region and its neighbours like the following format: Region A: neighbour1 neighbour2 Region B: neighbour1 neighbour2 For example, let us take USA map. I want to print the result as following: Washington D.C: Texas, Florida, Oregon and so on. My code is: import java.io.*; import java.util.Arrays; import java.util.Scanner; public class Test7{public static void main(String[] args) { Scanner kb = new Scanner(System.in); System.out.print("Please enter the number of regions: "); int REGION_COUNT = kb.nextInt(); String[] regionNames = new String[REGION_COUNT]; String[][] regions = new String[REGION_COUNT][2]; for (int r = 0; r < regions.length; r++) { System.out.print("Please enter the name of region #" + (r + 1) + ": "); regionNames[r] = kb.next(); System.out .print("How many neighbors for region #" + (r + 1) + ": "); if (kb.hasNextInt()) { int size = kb.nextInt(); regions[r] = new String[size]; for (int n = 0; n < size; n++) { System.out.print("Please enter the neighbour #" + (n) + ": "); regions[r][n] = kb.next(); } } else System.exit(0); } for (int i = 0; i < REGION_COUNT; i++) { System.out.print(regionNames[i] +": "); for (int k = 0; k < 2; k++) { System.out.print(regions[i][k]+", "); } System.out.println(); } } }

  • Understanding c-pointers for rows in 2-dimensional array

    - by utdiscant
    I have the following code: int main() { int n = 3, m = 4, a[n][m], i, j, (* p)[m] = a; for (i = 0; i < n; i++) for (j = 0; j < m; j++) a[i][j] = 1; p++; (*p)[2] = 9; return 0; } I have a hard time understanding what p is here, and the consequences of the operations on p in the end. Can someone give me a brief explanation of what happens. I know c-pointers in their simple settings, but here it get slightly more complicated.

  • Two dimensional strings in C++

    - by dada
    I want to write something like 2d strings in C++. I tried with : vector< vector<string> > table; int m,n,i,j; string s; cin>>n>>m; for(i=0;i<n;i++) { for(j=0;j<m;j++) { cin>>s; table[i][j] = s; } } cout << "\n\n\n\n"; for(i=0;i<n;i++) { for(j=0;j<m;j++) { cout<<table[i][j]<<" "; } cout<<"\n"; } no compile errors, but when i enter input like: 10 20 .....#.............. .....#.............. .....#.............. .....#.............. ######.............. .......###.......... .......#.#.......... .......###...####### .............#.....# .............####### It gives me segmentation fault. Why ? What's wrong ? And how it should be done so it would work correctly ? Thank you.

  • parsing Two-dimensional array in c

    - by gitter78
    I'm trying to parse an array that looks like the one below: char *arr[][2] = { { "1", "Purple" }, { "2", "Blue" }, { "22", "Red" }, ... }; I was thinking having a loop as: char *func(char *a){ for(i = 0; i<sizeof(arr)/sizeof(arr[0]);i++){ if(strstr(a,arr[i][0])!=NULL) return arr[i][1]; } } char *out; const char *hello = "this is my 2 string"; out = func(hello); In this case, I'm trying to get the second value based on the first one: Purple, Blue Red, etc.. The question is how would go in parsing this and instead of printing out the value, return the value. UPDATE/FIXED: It has been fixed above. Thanks

  • Multi dimensional array with get image data

    - by Dave
    I'm really confused with an array im making, its gotten a bit confusing to follow but i believe its the only way for me to approach what im trying to do. My idea here is to store getImageData in an array so i can link each image to an array of data. This is how i create my array: var listObj = { id: uid, extra: [ ctx2.getImageData(abposx,abposy,imgwidth,imgheight) ] }; pixeld.push(listObj); So now im trying to run through the array "pixeld" to find the uid but i don't know how the syntax should be.... this is what i tried: for (j = (pixeld.length-1); j > -1; --j){ if(pixeld[j].extra.data[3] !==0){ //line 220 matches.push(pixeld[j].id); } } The problem is i get this error: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property '3' of undefined on line 220 I have marked which line is 220 in the for loop. Any one know what my mistake is ?

  • Storing pointers in multi-dimensional array

    - by sdfqwerqaz1
    My intention is to create a dynamic 3D array in C++ using pointers. MyType*** myArray; myArray = new MyType**[GRID_SIZE]; for (int i = 0; i < GRID_SIZE; ++i) { myArray[i] = new MyType*[GRID_SIZE]; for (int j = 0; j < GRID_SIZE; ++j) { myArray[i][j] = new MyType[GRID_SIZE]; } } Now this 3D array is ready to store MyType instances. What is the correct syntax needed when declaring this array if I want to store pointers to MyType instead of just MyType objects in this array?

  • Indexing one-dimensional numpy.array as matrix

    - by Alain
    I am trying to index a numpy.array with varying dimensions during runtime. To retrieve e.g. the first row of a n*m array a, you can simply do a[0,:] However, in case a happens to be a 1xn vector, this code above returns an index error: IndexError: too many indices As the code needs to be executed as efficiently as possible I don't want to introduce an if statement. Does anybody have a convenient solution that ideally doesn't involve changing any data structure types?

I would appreciate it if any one can help me

  • Generating 2-dimensional vla ends in segmentation fault

    - by Framester
    Hi, further developing the code from yesterday (seg fault caused by malloc and sscanf in a function), I tried with the help of some tutorials I found on the net to generate a 2-dim vla. But I get a segmentation fault at (*data)[i][j]=atof(p);. The program is supposed to read a matrix out of a text file and load it into a 2d array (cols 1-9) and a 1D array (col 10) [Example code] #include<stdio.h> #include<stdlib.h> #include<math.h> #include<string.h> const int LENGTH = 1024; void read_data(float ***data, int **classes, int *nrow,int *ncol, char *filename){ FILE *pfile = NULL; char line[LENGTH]; if(!( pfile=fopen(filename,"r"))){ printf("Error opening %s.", filename); exit(1); } int numlines=0; int numcols=0; char *p; fgets(line,LENGTH,pfile); p = strtok (line," "); while (p != NULL){ p = strtok (NULL, ", "); numcols++; } while(fgets(line,LENGTH,pfile)){ numlines++; } rewind(pfile); int numfeats=numcols-1; *data=(float**) malloc(numlines*sizeof(float*)); *classes=(int *)malloc(numlines*sizeof(int)); if(*classes == NULL){ printf("\nOut of memory."); exit(1); } int i=0; while(fgets(line,LENGTH,pfile)){ p = strtok (line," "); for(int j=0;j<numfeats;j++) { (data)[i]=malloc(numfeats*sizeof(float)); printf("%i ",i); (*data)[i][j]=atof(p); p = strtok (NULL, ", "); } (*classes)[i]=atoi(p); i++; } fclose(pfile); *nrow=numlines; *ncol=numfeats; } int main() { char *filename="somedatafile.txt"; float **data2; int *classes2; int r,c; read_data(&data2,&classes2, &r, &c,filename) ; for(int i=0;i<r;i++){ printf("\n"); for(int j=0;j<c;j++){ printf("%f",data2[i][j]); } } return 1; } [Content of somedatafile.txt] 50 21 77 0 28 0 27 48 22 2 55 0 92 0 0 26 36 92 56 4 53 0 82 0 52 -5 29 30 2 1 37 0 76 0 28 18 40 48 8 1 37 0 79 0 34 -26 43 46 2 1 85 0 88 -4 6 1 3 83 80 5 56 0 81 0 -4 11 25 86 62 4 55 -1 95 -3 54 -4 40 41 2 1 53 8 77 0 28 0 23 48 24 4 37 0 101 -7 28 0 64 73 8 1 ...

  • C++ a map to a 2 dimensional vector

    - by user1701545
    I want to create a C++ map where key is, say, int and value is a 2-D vector of double: map myMap; suppose I filled it and now I would like to update the second vector mapped by each key (for example divide each element by 2). How would I access that vector iteratively? The "itr-second[0]" syntax in the statement below is obviously wrong. What would be the right syntax for that action? for(std::map<in, vector<vector<double> > > itr = myMap.begin(); itr != myMap.end();++itr) { for(int i = 0;i < itr->second[0].size();++i) { itr->second[0][i] /= 2; } } thanks, rubi

  • Dynamically Generate Multi-Dimensional Array in Ruby

    - by user335729
    Hi, I'm trying to build a multidimensional array dynamically. What I want is basically this (written out for simplicity): b = 0 test = [[]] test[b] << ["a", "b", "c"] b += 1 test[b] << ["d", "e", "f"] b += 1 test[b] << ["g", "h", "i"] This gives me the error: NoMethodError: undefined method `<<' for nil:NilClass. I can make it work by setting up the array like test = [[], [], []] and it works fine, but in my actual usage, I won't know how many arrays will be needed beforehand. Is there a better way to do this? Thanks
