  • Previous Versions delayed with SBS 2008 / Windows 7

    - by indeed005
    The SBS 2008 at this site has Previous Versions enabled on a mapped drive. The snapshots happen 3 times a day. I doubt they take very long; the diff size is only a few GB. The problem is that the users on Windows 7 cannot see their previous versions until a few hours later. Is there some indexing that has to happen before the Previous Versions are visible to the client machines? Edit: In the application log, 3 minutes after every scheduled backup, there is an event for VSS (EventID 8224) saying "The VSS service is shutting down due to idle timeout" Apparently this means it has finished successfully, even though modified files still do not show another version.

  • What approaches exist to setting up continent/country/city drop down menus?

    - by Dave
    How easy (or difficult) is it to have a Continent/Country/City drop down menu? Where one select from Drop Down Menus (for example): 1 - Europe 2 - UK 3 - London and then writes the Province/Area (for example: Essex). Realistically, how long should it take an experienced web developer to write the code of the above, as well as to link this selection to a Browse function and database storing? I do not have a geographical database yet and I am wondering what the fastest and cheapest way to add it to the drop down menu is. Is there any way to get that geographical database for free? I can see this type of geographical drop down menu in thousands of websites, but I am struggling as to how to implement it ASAP. Follow Up: Tks All x your answers and comments so far. I hear what you are saying. I understand that there are rare occasions of Countries with multiple (same) name Cities and that it might be disputable whether a Country belongs to a certain Continent/Region or not (see Russia x example, Europe or Asia?). Anyway, please take a look, for instance, at this website Sign UP screen http://www.couchsurfing.org/register.html My question then is: Where do I get that list (Country/Cities) and how do I create that _array? Manually copying it somewhere else (which would take me ages) or are there ready made lists that can be downloaded from somewhere for free?

  • SQL SERVER – ERROR – FIX – Msg 3702, Level 16, State 3, Line 1 Cannot drop database “MyDBName” because it is currently in use

    - by pinaldave
    I often go to do various seminars and presentations at various organizations. During presentations I often create and drop various databases for demonstrations purpose. Recently in one of the presentations, I tried to remove my recently created database, I got following error. Msg 3702, Level 16, State 3, Line 1 Cannot drop database “MyDBName” because it is currently in use. The reason was very simple as my database was in use by another session or window. I had option that I should go and find open session and close it right away; later followed by dropping the database. As I was in rush I quickly wrote down following code and I was able to successfully drop the database. USE MASTER GO ALTER DATABASE MyDBName SET SINGLE_USER WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE; DROP DATABASE MyDBName GO Please note that I am doing all this on my demonstrations, do not run above code on production without proper approvals and supervisions. • At what point would you drop some of your principles of software development for the sake of more money?

    - by MeshMan
    I'd like to throw this question out there to interestingly see where the medium is. I'm going to admit that in my last 12 months, I picked up TDD and a lot of the Agile values in software development. I was so overwhelmed with how much better my development of software became that I would never drop them out of principle. Until...I was offered a contracting role that doubled my take home pay for the year. The company I joined didn't follow any specific methodology, the team hadn't heard of anything like code smells, SOLID, etc., and I certainly wasn't going to get away with spending time doing TDD if the team had never even seen unit testing in practice. Am I a sell out? No, not completely... Code will always been written "cleanly" (as per Uncle Bob's teachings) and the principles of SOLID will always be applied to the code that I write as they are needed. Testing was dropped for me though, the company couldn't afford to have such a unknown handed to the team who quite frankly, even I did create test frameworks, they would never use/maintain the test framework correctly. Using that as an example, what point would you say a developer should never drop his craftsmanship principles for the sake of money/other benefits to them personally? I understand that this can be a very personal opinion on how concerned one is to their own needs, business needs, and the sake of craftsmanship etc. But one can consider that for example testing can be dropped if the company decided they would rather have a test team, than rather understand unit testing in programming, would that be something you could forgive yourself for like I did? So given that there is something you would drop, there usually should be an equal cost in the business that makes up for what you drop - hopefully, unless of course you are pretty much out for lining your own pockets and not community/social collaborating ;). Double your money, go back to RAD? Or walk on, and look for someone doing Agile, and never look back...

  • Dojo DnD: how to access newly copied node on onDndDrop event?

    - by toshinao
    Hi. I am working on code like the following. 01: var c1 = new dojo.dnd.Source('container1', {copyOnly:true}); // container1 is a div 02: var c2 = new dojo.dnd.Source('container2'); // container2 is a div 03: var list = []; 04: for (var i = 0; i < 3; i++) { list.push( dojo.create('div') ); } 05: c1.insertNodes(false, list); 06: 07: function checkDndCopy(nodes, target){ 08: dojo.forEach(nodes, function(node){ alert(node.id); } ); 09: } 10: dojo.subscribe("/dnd/drop", function(){ 11: var mgr = dojo.dnd.manager(); 12: checkDndCopy(mgr.nodes, mgr.target); 13: }); The nodes inserted to the c1 at line 05 have id of "dojoUnique1, donoUnique2, dojoUnique3". On a event of drag and drop a node from c1 to c2, a onDndDrop event is fired and the subscribe method defined in line10-13 is invoked. I expected that newly copied node appears in the nodes (for example) at line 08. But this is not true. When dojoUnique1 is target of drag and drop, nodes at line 08 contains only dojoUnique1. I want to modify some attributes of newly copied nodes on the event of onDndDrop. Please let me know how such a thing is realized.

  • HTML/jQuery/CSS Drop Down Menu Issue / Safari

    - by mmundiff
    I have a drop down menu that is coded in HTML, CSS, and jQuery and it works fine in Firefox and IE but not in Safari, and also not in Firefox on Mac. The drop down displays inline as opposed to list-item for the drop down in Safari. Any ideas why? <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.4.4/jquery.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" > $(document).ready(function(){ $('#menu li').hover( function() { //$('ul', this).css('display', 'block'); $('ul', this).fadeIn(200); var src = $('img.item', this).attr('src').match(/[^\.]+/) + '_over.png'; $('img.item', this).attr('src', src); }, function() { //$('ul', this).css('display', 'none'); $('ul', this).fadeOut(350); var src = $('img.item', this).attr('src').replace('_over', ''); $('img.item', this).attr('src', src); }); }); </script> <style type="text/css"> /* General */ body { arial, sans-serif; background-color: white; } * { padding: 0; margin: 0; } #menu{ white-space:nowrap; list-style:none; margin-left: 1px; } #menu ul { list-style: none; position:absolute; left:0; display:none; margin:0 -3px 0 -1px; padding:0; background: #000000; z-index: 500; margin-top: -4px; } #menu li{ display:inline; float: left; /* Added */ position:relative; } #menu li a { display: block; } #menu ul li { width:116px; float:left; border-top:1px dotted #666666; display: block; } #menu li ul { display: none; border-top: 1px black solid; text-align: left; } #menu ul a:hover { text-decoration:none; background: #efda83; color: #000000; } #menu ul a { text-decoration:none; display:block; height:15px; padding: 8px 5px; color:#efda83; font-size: 12px; } img{ border: 0 none; } .clear{ clear: both; } </style> </head> <body> <div> <ul id="menu"> <li ><a href="index.php"><img src="images/ssr_nav_home.png" class="item" alt="Home" /></a> </li> <li ><a href="about.php"><img src="images/ssr_nav_about.png" class="item" alt="About" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="about_contributors.php">Contributors</a></li> <li><a href="about_behind.php">Behind the Exhibit</a></li> <li><a href="about_sponsors.php">Sponsors</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="exhibit_intro.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_exhibit.png" alt="Exhibit" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="exhibit_intro.php">Intro</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_silkroad.php">Silk Road</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_western_regions.php">Western Regions</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_daily_life.php">Daily Life</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_burial_practices.php">Burial Practices</a></li> <li><a href="exhibit_relevance.php">Relevance</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="visit.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_visit.png" alt="Visit" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="visit_tickets.php">Tickets</a></li> <li><a href="visit_specials.php">Special Offers</a></li> <li><a href="visit_tours.php">Tours</a></li> <li><a href="visit_groups.php">Groups</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="events.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_events.png" alt="Events" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="events_lectures.php">Lecture Series</a></li> <li><a href="events_symposium.php">Symposium</a></li> <li><a href="kids_and_family.php">Kids &amp; Family</a></li> <li><a href="events_calendar.php">Event Calendar</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="gallery.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_images.png" alt="Gallery" /></a></li> <li ><a href="resources.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_resources.png" alt="Resources" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="resources_teachers.php">For Teachers</a></li> <li><a href="kids_and_family.php">Kids &amp; Family</a></li> <li><a href="http://www.penn.museum/podcasts-and-videos/819-secrets-of-the-silk-road.html" rel="external">Podcasts &amp; Videos</a></li> <!-- <li><a href="map.php">Silk Road Map</a></li> <li><a href="resources_timeline.php">Timeline</a></li> --> <li><a href="resources_quiz.php">Quiz</a></li> <li><a href="glossary.php">Glossary</a></li> <li><a href="blogs.php">Blog</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> <li ><a href="press.php"><img class="item" src="images/ssr_nav_press.png" alt="Press" /></a> <ul> <li><a href="press_release.php">Press Release</a></li> <li><a href="press_images.php">Press Images</a></li> <li><a href="press_bloggers.php">Bloggers</a></li> </ul> <div class="clear"></div> </li> </ul> </div> </body> </html>

  • A jQuery Plug-in to monitor Html Element CSS Changes

    - by Rick Strahl
    Here's a scenario I've run into on a few occasions: I need to be able to monitor certain CSS properties on an HTML element and know when that CSS element changes. The need for this arose out of wanting to build generic components that could 'attach' themselves to other objects and monitor changes on the ‘parent’ object so the dependent object can adjust itself accordingly. What I wanted to create is a jQuery plug-in that allows me to specify a list of CSS properties to monitor and have a function fire in response to any change to any of those CSS properties. The result are the .watch() and .unwatch() jQuery plug-ins. Here’s a simple example page of this plug-in that demonstrates tracking changes to an element being moved with draggable and closable behavior: http://www.west-wind.com/WestWindWebToolkit/samples/Ajax/jQueryPluginSamples/WatcherPlugin.htm Try it with different browsers – IE and FireFox use the DOM event handlers and Chrome, Safari and Opera use setInterval handlers to manage this behavior. It should work in all of them but all but IE and FireFox will show a bit of lag between the changes in the main element and the shadow. The relevant HTML for this example is this fragment of a main <div> (#notebox) and an element that is to mimic a shadow (#shadow). <div class="containercontent"> <div id="notebox" style="width: 200px; height: 150px;position: absolute; z-index: 20; padding: 20px; background-color: lightsteelblue;"> Go ahead drag me around and close me! </div> <div id="shadow" style="background-color: Gray; z-index: 19;position:absolute;display: none;"> </div> </div> The watcher plug in is then applied to the main <div> and shadow in sync with the following plug-in code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { var counter = 0; $("#notebox").watch("top,left,height,width,display,opacity", function (data, i) { var el = $(this); var sh = $("#shadow"); var propChanged = data.props[i]; var valChanged = data.vals[i]; counter++; showStatus("Prop: " + propChanged + " value: " + valChanged + " " + counter); var pos = el.position(); var w = el.outerWidth(); var h = el.outerHeight(); sh.css({ width: w, height: h, left: pos.left + 5, top: pos.top + 5, display: el.css("display"), opacity: el.css("opacity") }); }) .draggable() .closable() .css("left", 10); }); </script> When you run this page as you drag the #notebox element the #shadow element will maintain and stay pinned underneath the #notebox element effectively keeping the shadow attached to the main element. Likewise, if you hide or fadeOut() the #notebox element the shadow will also go away – show the #notebox element and the shadow also re-appears because we are assigning the display property from the parent on the shadow. Note we’re attaching the .watch() plug-in to the #notebox element and have it fire whenever top,left,height,width,opacity or display CSS properties are changed. The passed data element contains a props[] and vals[] array that holds the properties monitored and their current values. An index passed as the second parm tells you which property has changed and what its current value is (propChanged/valChanged in the code above). The rest of the watcher handler code then deals with figuring out the main element’s position and recalculating and setting the shadow’s position using the jQuery .css() function. Note that this is just an example to demonstrate the watch() behavior here – this is not the best way to create a shadow. If you’re interested in a more efficient and cleaner way to handle shadows with a plug-in check out the .shadow() plug-in in ww.jquery.js (code search for fn.shadow) which uses native CSS features when available but falls back to a tracked shadow element on browsers that don’t support it, which is how this watch() plug-in came about in the first place :-) How does it work? The plug-in works by letting the user specify a list of properties to monitor as a comma delimited string and a handler function: el.watch("top,left,height,width,display,opacity", function (data, i) {}, 100, id) You can also specify an interval (if no DOM event monitoring isn’t available in the browser) and an ID that identifies the event handler uniquely. The watch plug-in works by hooking up to DOMAttrModified in FireFox, to onPropertyChanged in Internet Explorer, or by using a timer with setInterval to handle the detection of changes for other browsers. Unfortunately WebKit doesn’t support DOMAttrModified consistently at the moment so Safari and Chrome currently have to use the slower setInterval mechanism. In response to a changed property (or a setInterval timer hit) a JavaScript handler is fired which then runs through all the properties monitored and determines if and which one has changed. The DOM events fire on all property/style changes so the intermediate plug-in handler filters only those hits we’re interested in. If one of our monitored properties has changed the specified event handler function is called along with a data object and an index that identifies the property that’s changed in the data.props/data.vals arrays. The jQuery plugin to implement this functionality looks like this: (function($){ $.fn.watch = function (props, func, interval, id) { /// <summary> /// Allows you to monitor changes in a specific /// CSS property of an element by polling the value. /// when the value changes a function is called. /// The function called is called in the context /// of the selected element (ie. this) /// </summary> /// <param name="prop" type="String">CSS Properties to watch sep. by commas</param> /// <param name="func" type="Function"> /// Function called when the value has changed. /// </param> /// <param name="interval" type="Number"> /// Optional interval for browsers that don't support DOMAttrModified or propertychange events. /// Determines the interval used for setInterval calls. /// </param> /// <param name="id" type="String">A unique ID that identifies this watch instance on this element</param> /// <returns type="jQuery" /> if (!interval) interval = 100; if (!id) id = "_watcher"; return this.each(function () { var _t = this; var el$ = $(this); var fnc = function () { __watcher.call(_t, id) }; var data = { id: id, props: props.split(","), vals: [props.split(",").length], func: func, fnc: fnc, origProps: props, interval: interval, intervalId: null }; // store initial props and values $.each(data.props, function (i) { data.vals[i] = el$.css(data.props[i]); }); el$.data(id, data); hookChange(el$, id, data); }); function hookChange(el$, id, data) { el$.each(function () { var el = $(this); if (typeof (el.get(0).onpropertychange) == "object") el.bind("propertychange." + id, data.fnc); else if ($.browser.mozilla) el.bind("DOMAttrModified." + id, data.fnc); else data.intervalId = setInterval(data.fnc, interval); }); } function __watcher(id) { var el$ = $(this); var w = el$.data(id); if (!w) return; var _t = this; if (!w.func) return; // must unbind or else unwanted recursion may occur el$.unwatch(id); var changed = false; var i = 0; for (i; i < w.props.length; i++) { var newVal = el$.css(w.props[i]); if (w.vals[i] != newVal) { w.vals[i] = newVal; changed = true; break; } } if (changed) w.func.call(_t, w, i); // rebind event hookChange(el$, id, w); } } $.fn.unwatch = function (id) { this.each(function () { var el = $(this); var data = el.data(id); try { if (typeof (this.onpropertychange) == "object") el.unbind("propertychange." + id, data.fnc); else if ($.browser.mozilla) el.unbind("DOMAttrModified." + id, data.fnc); else clearInterval(data.intervalId); } // ignore if element was already unbound catch (e) { } }); return this; } })(jQuery); Note that there’s a corresponding .unwatch() plug-in that can be used to stop monitoring properties. The ID parameter is optional both on watch() and unwatch() – a standard name is used if you don’t specify one, but it’s a good idea to use unique names for each element watched to avoid overlap in event ids especially if you’re monitoring many elements. The syntax is: $.fn.watch = function(props, func, interval, id) props A comma delimited list of CSS style properties that are to be watched for changes. If any of the specified properties changes the function specified in the second parameter is fired. func The function fired in response to a changed styles. Receives this as the element changed and an object parameter that represents the watched properties and their respective values. The first parameter is passed in this structure: { id: watcherId, props: [], vals: [], func: thisFunc, fnc: internalHandler, origProps: strPropertyListOnWatcher }; A second parameter is the index of the changed property so data.props[i] or data.vals[i] gets the property and changed value. interval The interval for setInterval() for those browsers that don't support property watching in the DOM. In milliseconds. id An optional id that identifies this watcher. Required only if multiple watchers might be hooked up to the same element. The default is _watcher if not specified. It’s been a Journey I started building this plug-in about two years ago and had to make many modifications to it in response to changes in jQuery and also in browser behaviors. I think the latest round of changes made should make this plug-in fairly future proof going forward (although I hope there will be better cross-browser change event notifications in the future). One of the big problems I ran into had to do with recursive change notifications – it looks like starting with jQuery 1.44 and later, jQuery internally modifies element properties on some calls to some .css()  property retrievals and things like outerHeight/Width(). In IE this would cause nasty lock up issues at times. In response to this I changed the code to unbind the events when the handler function is called and then rebind when it exits. This also makes user code less prone to stack overflow recursion as you can actually change properties on the base element. It also means though that if you change one of the monitors properties in the handler the watch() handler won’t fire in response – you need to resort to a setTimeout() call instead to force the code to run outside of the handler: $("#notebox") el.watch("top,left,height,width,display,opacity", function (data, i) { var el = $(this); … // this makes el changes work setTimeout(function () { el.css("top", 10) },10); }) Since I’ve built this component I’ve had a lot of good uses for it. The .shadow() fallback functionality is one of them. Resources The watch() plug-in is part of ww.jquery.js and the West Wind West Wind Web Toolkit. You’re free to use this code here or the code from the toolkit. • Disable input fields based on selection from drop down

    - by Thomas
    I have a drop down box and some text input fields below it. Based on which item from the drop down menu the user selects, I would like to disable some of the fields. I think I am failing to target the input fields correctly but I can't figure out what the problem is: Here is the script I have gotten so far: $(document).ready(function(){ var customfield = $('#customfields-tf-19-tf'); var customfield1 = $('#customfields-tf-20-tf'); var customfield2 = $('#customfields-tf-13-tf'); $(function() { var call_table = { 'Condominium': function() { customfield.attr("disabled"); }, 'Co-Op': function() { customfield1.attr("disabled"); }, 'Condop': function() { customfield2.attr("disabled"); } }; $('#customfields-s-18-s').change(function() { call_table[this.value](); }); }); }); And the layout for my form: <td width="260" class="left"> <label for="customfields-s-18-s">Ownership (Required):</label> </td> <td class="right"> <select name="customfields-s-18-s" class="dropdown" id="customfields-s-18-s" size="" > <option value="Condominium"> Condominium</option> <option value="Co-Op"> Co-Op</option> <option value="Condop"> Condop</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="260" class="left"> <label for="customfields-tf-19-tf">Maintenance:</label> </td> <td class="right"> <input type="text" title="Maintenance" class="textInput" name="customfields-tf-19-tf" id="customfields-tf-19-tf" size="40"/> </td> </tr> <tr id="newsletter_topics"> <td width="260" class="left"> <label for="customfields-tf-20-tf">Taxes:</label> </td> <td class="right"> <input type="text" title="Taxes" class="textInput" name="customfields-tf-20-tf" id="customfields-tf-20-tf" size="40" /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="260" class="left"> <label for="customfields-tf-13-tf" class="required">Tax Deductibility:</label> </td> <td class="right"> <input type="text" title="Tax Deductibility" class="textInput" name="customfields-tf-13-tf" id="customfields-tf-13-tf" size="40" /> </td> </tr>

  • How do I set a ComboBox default *not in the drop down* when a list item begins with the same text as a drop down item?

    - by John Conrad
    Using C#, say you have a ComboBox that has a DropDownStyle set to DropDown (there are items in the drop down but the user can manually enter a value as well). How do you set a default value for the ComboBox that is not in the list of values in the drop down, but begins with text from a possible selection? Normally setting ComboBox.Text works fine, but if there is an item in the drop down that begins with the text you want as the default, it automatically selects the first item in the list that starts with the text. For example: Values in the drop down: c:\program files\ c:\windows\ d:\media\ Default Value Assignment myComboBox.Text = "C:\"; Result Initial value of ComboBox when the form opens is "c:\program files\". So what am I doing wrong? How do I correctly set a default value of an item not in the drop down list that begins with a possible selection?

  • How to get the selected option value of a drop down box in PHP code

    - by Angeline Aarthi
    I have a dropdown box which lists a set of logos,like flower,butterfly etc. <p class="title1">Logo</p> <select name="logoMenu" class="select" size="7"> <?php foreach($logos as $logo):?> <option id="<?php echo $logo['Subproperty']['id'];?>" value="<?php echo $logo['Subproperty']['values'];?>"><?php echo $logo['Subproperty']['values'];?> </option> <?php endforeach;?> </select> Suppose If I select the logo 'Flower' from the drop down box, I want the flower pic to be displayed in a div.This is the div that I have to display the pictures. <div id="theme_logos" class="float_left spaceleft" style="display:none;"> <?php foreach($defaultLogos as $logo): //if($logo['Subproperty']['values']==clicked option value){?> <img height="50" width="50" src="/FormBuilder/app/webroot/img/themes/<?php echo $logo['Subproperty']['images'];?>" class="float_left user_profile_image user_profile_image" alt="Default50"/> <?php endforeach;?> </div> The problem with this code is that it displaya all the pictures found in the table. Because im My controller code, I give only the property id as that of 'Logo',but do not give which logo. $this->set('defaultLogos',$this->Subproperty->find('all',array('conditions'=>array('Subproperty.property_id'=>1,'Subproperty.values'=>"Flower")))); Here I have hard coded as 'flower' so that I get the flower picture alone.. If I select the logo from the drop down box, how to pass that selected value to the controller code? Or if I get the selected logo name thro' jquery,how to use that value in the if condition inside the for each loop? someone help me out with this.. I'm using CakePHP framework. $("#logoMenu option").click(function(){ selectedLogo=$(this).attr("value"); $('#subproperty_id').val($(this).attr("id")); if(selectedLogo=="Your logo"){ $("#themes_upload").show(); } else{ alert(selectedLogo); $("#themes_upload").hide(); $("#theme_logos").show(); } }); EDIT Now I have tried an ajax post where I pass the selected logo to the same action of the controller. I get the value when I alert the passed value in the success function of the ajax function. I the picture doesn't appear. $("#logoMenu option").click(function(){ selectedLogo=$(this).attr("value"); $('#subproperty_id').val($(this).attr("id")); if(selectedLogo=="Your logo"){ $("#themes_upload").show(); } else{ alert(selectedLogo); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "http://localhost/FormBuilder/index.php/themes/themes/", async: false, data: "selectedLogo="+selectedLogo, success: function(msg){ alert( "Data Saved: " + msg); } }); $("#themes_upload").hide(); $("#theme_logos").show(); } }); function themes(){ $this->set('themes',$this->Theme->find('all')); $logo=$this->params['form']['selectedLogo']; echo "logo:".$logo; $this->set('defaultLogos',$this->Subproperty->find('all',array('conditions'=>array('Subproperty.property_id'=>1,'Subproperty.values'=>$logo)))); } But when I trry to display the img in the page,it doesn't appear. Is it because the div show command is after the ajax request?

  • css menu <ul><li> dinamically centered or width of buttons that covers the whole page

    - by Tony Stark
    I am building a home page for my minecraft server. Probably in the following 4-6 months I will opend my second and this is why I am in trouble. My first site is 1000 pixel wide, and the second will be 1200. First big difference. My menus are dinamically generated by my php code. It checks on my databases if there is another button or it is over. These buttons can be added or removed directly online. Another big issue is the browser compatibility. In a survey I did on our previous server I had a lot of users using: chrome, internet explorer, safari and firefox. That means that I must find a solution that is compatible with most browsers. What do I have to do? I came up with this CSS, which is touch compatible, it allows menus to be swapped to the left and it is enough to set 1 parameter to fix it for every page width. Sadly it is left aligned. body, nav, ul, li, a {margin: 0; padding: 0;} body {font-family: Verdana,"Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; } a {text-decoration: none;} .container { max-width: 900px; margin: 0px auto 0px auto; } .toggleMenu { display: none; background: #666; padding: 10px 15px; color: #999999; } .nav { border: 1px solid #424242; background-color: #121212; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient(startColorstr='#686868', endColorstr='#121212'); background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(#686868, #121212); background-image: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, from(#686868), to(#121212)); background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(#686868, #121212); background-image: -o-linear-gradient(#686868, #121212); background-image: -ms-linear-gradient(#686868, #121212); background-image: linear-gradient(#686868, #121212); -moz-box-shadow: 0 1px 1px #777, 0 1px 0 #666 inset; -webkit-box-shadow: 0 1px 1px #777, 0 1px 0 #666 inset; box-shadow: 0 1px 1px #777, 0 1px 0 #666 inset; list-style: none; *zoom: 1; position: relative; } .nav:before,.nav:after { content: " "; display: table; } .nav:after { clear: both; } .nav ul { list-style: none; width: 11em; z-index: 1; background-color: #121212; -moz-box-shadow: 0 -1px rgba(255,255,255,.3); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 -1px 0 rgba(255,255,255,.3); box-shadow: 0 -1px 0 rgba(255,255,255,.3); } .nav a { padding: 10px 15px; color:#999999; text-transform: uppercase; font: bold 11px Arial, Helvetica; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: 0 1px 0 #000; *zoom: 1; } .nav a:hover{ color:#000000; background-color: #B2B2B2; filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient(startColorstr='#D3D3D3', endColorstr='#B2B2B2'); background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(#D3D3D3, #B2B2B2); background-image: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, from(#D3D3D3), to(#B2B2B2)); background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(#D3D3D3, #B2B2B2); background-image: -o-linear-gradient(#D3D3D3, #B2B2B2); background-image: -ms-linear-gradient(#D3D3D3, #B2B2B2); background-image: linear-gradient(#D3D3D3, #B2B2B2); } /*Delimitazione di ogni tab | HOME | */ .nav li { position: relative; border-right: 1px solid #424242; -moz-box-shadow: 1px 0 0 #686868; -webkit-box-shadow: 1px 0 0 #686868; box-shadow: 1px 0 0 #686868; } .nav > li { float: left; border-top: 1px solid #424242; z-index: 200; } .nav > li > .parent { background-image: url("../downArrow.png"); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: center right; } .nav > li li > .parent { background-image: url("../rightArrow.png"); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: center right; } .nav > li > a { display: block; } .nav li ul { position: absolute; left: -9999px; z-index: 100; } /* freccetta che indica un sottomenu nell'ultimo tab */ .nav > li:last-child li > .parent{ background-image: url("../leftArrow.png"); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: left; } /*flip subsubmenu*/ .nav li.last.hover > ul { left:auto; right: 0; } .nav > li.hover > ul { left: 0; } .nav li li.hover > ul { left: 100%; top: 0; } /* Spostare il 2^ sottomenu a sinistra */ .nav li.last li.hover ul { left:auto; right: 100%; top:0; } .nav li li a { display: block; background-color: #686868; -moz-box-shadow: 0 -1px rgba(255,255,255,.3); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 -1px 0 rgba(255,255,255,.3); box-shadow: 0 -1px 0 rgba(255,255,255,.3); z-index:100; border-top: 1px solid #686868; } .nav li li li a { background-color: #686868; -moz-box-shadow: 0 -1px rgba(255,255,255,.3); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 -1px 0 rgba(255,255,255,.3); box-shadow: 0 -1px 0 rgba(255,255,255,.3); z-index:200; border-top: 1px solid #686868; } .nav li li li li a { display: block; background-color: #686868; -moz-box-shadow: 0 -1px rgba(255,255,255,.3); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 -1px 0 rgba(255,255,255,.3); box-shadow: 0 -1px 0 rgba(255,255,255,.3); z-index:300; border-top: 1px solid #686868; } .nav li li li li a { background-color: #686868; -moz-box-shadow: 0 -1px rgba(255,255,255,.3); -webkit-box-shadow: 0 -1px 0 rgba(255,255,255,.3); box-shadow: 0 -1px 0 rgba(255,255,255,.3); z-index:400; border-top: 1px solid #686868; } @media screen and (max-width: 768px) { .active { display: block; } .nav > li { float: none; } .nav > li > .parent { background-position: 95% 50%; } .nav li li .parent { background-image: url("../downArrow.png"); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: 95% 50%; } .nav ul { display: block; width: 100%; } .nav > li.hover > ul , .nav li li.hover ul { position: static; } } My girlfriend (who adapted this code) is really busy for school and cannot help me. Leaving the borders on the whole square (page width), is it possible to make buttons cover the page width dinamically? Or is it possible to center the buttons? Thank you very much!

  • jQuery animate mouseover/mouseout keep drop menu visible

    - by Ce.
    I'm trying to make a basic drop down menu with animate and am running into the issue where I can't seem to figure out how to keep the dropdown part open until the mouse leaves. Is there an easy way to tell this to stay open? I know what I have is completely wrong regarding the .clickme mouseout function since it will unload the menu accordingly. If anyone can help in this specific instance, I would be super grateful. PREVIEW HERE http://cu3ed.com/ddmenu/ or below: $(document).ready(function() { $('.clickme').mouseover(function() { $('#slidebox').animate({ top: '+=160' }, 200, 'easeOutQuad'); }); $('.clickme').mouseout(function(){ $('#slidebox').animate({ top: '-=160' }, 200, 'easeOutQuad') }); }); I would like to keep this as simple and clean as possible. I know the CSS is all crazy but it's totally preliminary. THANKS!!!

  • Django: Country drop down list?

    - by User
    I have a form for address information. One of the fields is for the address country. Currently this is just a textbox. I would like a drop down list (of ISO 3166 countries) for this. I'm a django newbie so I haven't even used a Django Select widget yet. What is a good way to do this? Hard-code the choices in a file somewhere? Put them in the database? In the template?

  • Qt - drag and drop with graphics view framework

    - by David Davidson
    I'm trying to make a simple draggable item using the graphics framework. Here's the code for what I did so far: Widget class: class Widget : public QWidget { Q_OBJECT public: Widget(QWidget *parent = 0); ~Widget(); }; Widget::Widget(QWidget *parent) : QWidget(parent) { DragScene *scene = new DragScene(); DragView *view = new DragView(); QHBoxLayout *layout = new QHBoxLayout(); DragItem *item = new DragItem(); view->setAcceptDrops(true); scene->addItem(item); view->setScene(scene); layout->addWidget(view); this->setLayout(layout); } Widget::~Widget() { } DragView class: class DragView : public QGraphicsView { public: DragView(QWidget *parent = 0); }; DragView::DragView(QWidget *parent) : QGraphicsView(parent) { setRenderHints(QPainter::Antialiasing); } DragScene class: class DragScene : public QGraphicsScene { public: DragScene(QObject* parent = 0); protected: void dragEnterEvent(QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent *event); void dragMoveEvent(QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent *event); void dragLeaveEvent(QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent *event); void dropEvent(QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent *event); }; DragScene::DragScene(QObject* parent) : QGraphicsScene(parent) { } void DragScene::dragEnterEvent(QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent *event){ } void DragScene::dragMoveEvent(QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent *event){ } void DragScene::dragLeaveEvent(QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent *event){ } void DragScene::dropEvent(QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent *event){ qDebug() << event->pos(); event->acceptProposedAction(); DragItem *item = new DragItem(); this->addItem(item); item->setPos(event->pos()); } DragItem class: class DragItem : public QGraphicsItem { public: DragItem(QGraphicsItem *parent = 0); QRectF boundingRect() const; void paint(QPainter *painter, const QStyleOptionGraphicsItem *option, QWidget *widget = 0); protected: void mouseDoubleClickEvent(QGraphicsSceneMouseEvent *event); void mouseMoveEvent(QGraphicsSceneMouseEvent *event); void mousePressEvent(QGraphicsSceneMouseEvent *event); void mouseReleaseEvent(QGraphicsSceneMouseEvent *event); }; DragItem::DragItem(QGraphicsItem *parent) : QGraphicsItem(parent) { setFlag(QGraphicsItem::ItemIsMovable); } QRectF DragItem::boundingRect() const{ const QPointF *p0 = new QPointF(-10,-10); const QPointF *p1 = new QPointF(10,10); return QRectF(*p0,*p1); } void DragItem::paint(QPainter *painter, const QStyleOptionGraphicsItem *option, QWidget *widget){ if(painter == 0) painter = new QPainter(); painter->drawEllipse(QPoint(0,0),10,10); } void DragItem::mouseDoubleClickEvent(QGraphicsSceneMouseEvent *event){ } void DragItem::mouseMoveEvent(QGraphicsSceneMouseEvent *event){ } void DragItem::mousePressEvent(QGraphicsSceneMouseEvent *event){ QMimeData* mime = new QMimeData(); QDrag* drag = new QDrag(event->widget()); drag->setMimeData(mime); drag->exec(); } void DragItem::mouseReleaseEvent(QGraphicsSceneMouseEvent *event){ } main.cpp instantiates a Widget and shows it. When I try to drag the circle, the app just creates another circle over the original one, regardless of where I release the drag. qDebug() in DragScene's dropEvent() shows QPointF(0,0) everytime the drag ends. I'm having a hard time trying to understand exactly what I have to do, which classes I should subclass, which methods needs to be overriden, to make this work. The documentation on this isn't very detailed. I'd like to know how to make this work, and if there's some other, more comprehensive resource to learn about the graphics view framework, besides the official documentation (which is excellent btw, but it would be great if there was a more detailed treatise on the subject). EDIT: Following badgerr's advice, I replaced item-pos() in DragScene::dropEvent() with item-scenePos(), now the drop event creates a new circle in the drop site, which is more or less what I wanted. But the original circle is still in place, and while the drag is in progress, the item doesn't follow the mouse cursor. The QGraphicsSceneDragDropEvent documentation says that pos() should return the cursor position in relation to the view that sent the event, which, unless I got it wrong, shouldn't be (0,0) all the time. Weird. I've read in a forum post that you can use QDrag::setPixMap() to show something during the drag, and in examples I've seen pictures being set as pixmaps, but how do I make the pixmap just like the graphics item I'm supposed to be dragging?

  • Drag and drop image from and to fixed position on fixed path

    - by DMan
    I am trying to allow the user to drag and drop and image from on position to another. The screen layout is as follows: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 I want the user to grab image 2, 4, 6, or 8 and drag it to image 5. Upon dragging to image 5 I want to load up a fragment. The user can only drag the image in a straight line from it's current position to 5's position. ie image 2 and only drag down and only until it is overtop of image 5, image 4 can only drag right until overtop of 5, etc. Any insight on how to do this is greatly appreciated. Thanks, DMan

  • Drop target - where do I register the COleDropTarget variable if the view class doesn't have OnCreat

    - by Harvey
    The MSDN site says: From your view class's function that handles the WM_CREATE message (typically OnCreate), call the new member variable's Register member function. Revoke will be called automatically for you when your view is destroyed. But I don't have an OnCreate function in the ChildView class. I do have OnCreate in the CMainFrame class. Can I register it there? What are the ramifications? PLEASE NOTE: I have it working for dropping files but I want to drop the text as a file, not at a cursor location like a text cut and paste, but rather I want the application to make a buffer to hold it, and I will treat it like a file. TIA, Harvey

  • Drag and Drop to a Powershell script

    - by Nathan Hartley
    I thought I had an answer to this, but the more I play with it, the more I see it as a design flaw of Powershell. I would like to drag and drop (or use the Send-To mechanism) to pass multiple files and/or folders as a array to a Powershell script. Test Script #Test.ps1 param ( [string[]] $Paths, [string] $ExampleParameter ) "Paths" $Paths "args" $args I then created a shortcut with the following command line and dragged some files on to it. The files come across as individual parameters which first match the script parameters positionally, with the remainder being placed in the $args array. Shortcut Attempt 1 powershell.exe -noprofile -noexit -file c:\Test.ps1 I found that I can do this with a wrapper script... Wrapper Script #TestWrapper.ps1 & .\Test.ps1 -Paths $args Shortcut Attempt 2 powershell.exe -noprofile -noexit -file c:\TestWrapper.ps1 Has anyone found a way to do this without the extra script?

  • Can't see drop down list in Excel VBA

    - by Ten Ton Gorilla
    I've created a very simple drop down list in excel. It holds a sequence of integers loaded from a cell range (years). I need to read the selected value in vba. However I can't even seem to find the control! I've tried CboYear Sheet2.CboYear Worksheets("SheetName").CboYear etc. etc. From everywhere in VBA this control just doesn't exist. All the tutorial I find seem to assume that using just the control name will work. I've tried the code in the sheet itself, the workbook, and a module, no luck.

    My model object (e.g. MyObject) has one property (e.g. color), the "color" property holds a string value which comes from a list of string (e.g. colors=['red','yellow', 'black']). now, I have one instance of myObject get from database and show on the view page in a row, I need to show the 'color' property of myObject in a drop down menu with the current value as the default selected. How to implement this in Rails 3 in my view page. (Later, when user select from the dropdown menu, the object will be updated in DB based on user's selection) Please explain with instance "myObject" and list "colors=[...]"

  • How to cancel drop event in YUI drag & drop utility?

    - by gk
    We are using drag & drop utility between one source and multiple targets. We have a restriction that one of the target can only have one child element while the other ones can have multiple items. I have tried subscribing dragDropEvent of the proxy item and returning false in case the destination target has multiple child elements, with out much luck. var m = new YAHOO.example.DDList("dli" + j, 'documentSelection'); m.subscribe('dragDropEvent', function(e){ if (e.info == 'ulMasterDocument' && $('#ulMasterDocument').children().length > 1){ e.event.canceBubble = true; return false; } return true; }); Is this code correct? Or do i need to subscribe some other event? Thanks

  • Drop a DB2 view if it exists...

    - by grenade
    Why doesn't this work in IBM Data Studio (Eclipse): IF EXISTS (SELECT 1 FROM SYSIBM.SYSVIEWS WHERE NAME = 'MYVIEW' AND CREATOR = 'MYSCHEMA') THEN DROP VIEW MYSCHEMA.MYVIEW; END IF; I have a feeling it has to do with statement terminators (;) but I can't find a syntax that works. Another similar question at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/355687/how-to-check-a-procedure-view-table-exists-or-not-before-dropping-it-in-db2-9-1 suggests that they had to create a proc but this isn't a solution for us.
