Is there a way for my eclipse project to inherit the build classpath from existing Ant build.xml files? It would be nice if I didn't have to keep the eclipse project and the ant build in sync!
When implementing an interface in eclipse, it has a really nice feature that lets you "add unimplemented methods", and it will generate the method stubs for the interface methods.
However, it does not bring along the method documentation from the interface methods, and I was wondering if there was a way to get eclipse to do that.
Hi all,
the Java sources for the Android framework are available at source.android.com. Can I download and feed them to Eclipse so that I can step into framework methods while debugging? Better yet, does anyone know of an Eclipse plug-in that would get them from Android Git automatically as needed?
I am trying to use Eclipse to build some existing software (written in C), which is built with a Makefile. For this reason I created a 'Makefile project' in Eclipse.
However, I just found out, the in the 'C/C++ Build / Settings' menu, I only see the 'Binary Parsers' and 'Error Parsers' tabs. However, I really need the 'Build Steps' tabs, because I also need to add a post-build command.
How can I make the 'Build Steps' tab appear in my project?
I am using Eclipse 3.4.1 Build M20080911-1700
I have tried to change the classpath directories for jar and the source directory using the Project Properties - Java Build Path - Libraries Tab or Source Tab. When I click OK button and then return to the properties page, my changes were not applied.
I have to resort in the work around by manually changing the eclipse ".classpath" project settings file.
Any ideas?

In Eclipse, I am using a TreeViewer to show a custom tree, whose contents are drawn from an ITreeContentProvider. Now I am trying to create a second view that allows me to automatically show a two-way comparisons of two such trees. I found various views for textual comparison within Eclipse, but I could not find an easy way to show the structural differences between two arbitrary trees. Any thoughts?
I'm using eclipse 3.5.2 and cannot seem to use "filter resources" to filter out .git folders in any of my projects for any of my perspectives: javascript, ruby, and php. I've tried adding the filter to plugin.xml as suggested on this blog but it is for eclipse 3.4 and doesn't seem to work. Any suggestions?
I'm using Eclipse for my C++ project under Linux. When I get compilation errors I can see them in the Console window.
I am currently manually navigating to the file and line number to fix errors. Is is possible to get Eclipse to provide links to the correct file and line number?
Should I use 32-bit Eclipse or 64-bit Eclipse for Android development? Im on a MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duo). Does it matter which version for Android coding?
Good day.
I have Eclipse PHP Galileo for Mac OSX, 32bit Cocoa version.
The problem is the rename function doesn't work properly.
While editing PHP file I choose Refactor-Rename menu or a rename hotkey and Eclipse doesn't offer me to rename a variable, instead a rename file dialog appears.
Tried to configure hotkeys but no luck.
If you do know the solution – please tell. Thank you.
Hi, i can't seem to find this symbol in the Eclipse documentation, and i'm no expert in using Eclipse.
Can anyone explain to me what it means?
The symbol:
It's the arrow that confuses me. Can it be a shared resource?
Thanks in advance!
I don't have eclipse on my system at all, but I have on my hands an eclipse project (flex) that I would like to compile and I was wondering if there was any way to do it with minimal to no changes having to be made. Is this possible?
A few years ago I've installed several SVN plugins for eclipse. At the time I wasn't impressed with their quality. Many were slow, buggy and couldn't cope with any file interactions that didn't go through the plugin. So I went back to just using TortoiseSVN for windows and command line for linux. Now I'm ready to give it another try.
Which Subversion plugins for Eclipse are most popular currently and work well, how do they compare?
For a project at work, we're considering using the Maven plugin for Eclipse to automate our builds. Right now the procedure is far more complicated than it ought to be, and we're hoping that Maven will simplify things to a one-click build.
My question is, is there a wizard or automatic importer for converting an existing Eclipse Java project to a Maven project, using the Maven plugin? Or should I create a new Maven project and manually copy over all source files, libs, etc.
I have replaced all my tabs by spaces.
But now, when I hit backspace to remove an indentation level, it removes only one space. So I have to hit 4 times space to remove an indentation level.
That is one of the most absurd thing I've seen in Eclipse, so I guess there is an option somewhere to enable us to remove 4 spaces as if it where a tab ?
(because we use spaces instead of tabs for practical reason, 4 spaces is supposed to mean "1 tab")
Thanks
Note : I use Eclipse PDT
I am trying to use maven profiles and filtering in order to produce two different versions of a given web archive (war):
A first one for local deployment to my local machine on localhost
A second one for remote deployment to cloudfoundry
There are a number of properties that differ according to whether the app is deployed to my local machine or to cloudfoundry.
Of course the difficult bit is that I am trying to do all this from STS/Eclipse and deploy from Eclipse to my local tomcat and to cloudfoundry...
Can anyone please provide advice, tips or suggestions?
Hi,
I'm trying to debug a C program using Eclipse CDT-s debugger and gdb on a Windows7 system, and everything seems fine, except for the console not showing up, which is bad, because my program needs input at some points from the keyboard.
So how should I make Eclipse's debugger work properly?
Thank you.
Hi
I am using eclipse galileo on my macbook pro. After a few minutes it starts dragging really badly, like it takes 8 seconds to open a file. I don't have many files open at all. I already modified the config file to increase ram and all that stuff. Is there something wrong with this version of eclipse, never had it run so poorly on here,
Thanks

I'm using the XQDT (XQuery Development Tools) plugin for Eclipse, and I'd like to view query results in Eclipse's graphical XML editor rather than in the console. Does anyone know of a way to redirect output in this way?
When I update my local working copy of an SVN repository in Eclipse using the Subversive plugin it isnt bringing any new files which have been added to the SVN repository. It thinks that the local working copy is up to date and if I ask Eclipse to update it it just says no further changes.
Anyone got any ideas why this is happening?
I found it very difficult to configure linked resource in Eclipse CDT. Folder "wspolne" is located somewhere in the system, I'd like to use .cpp .h files from it in my current project, but avoid copying it. From what i read about Linked Resources is a solution, but I can't build a projct :/
I followed instuctions described here with out any result: stackoverflow.com/questions/1907275/in-eclipse-cdt-shared-resource-folder-that-is-built-differently-for-the-project. What's wrong ?

According to the release notes of Eclipse 3.3 you can now join lines together with CRTL-ALT-J. This doesn't work for me running Eclipse 3.5 on a Mac. Does it work for anyone else?
I'm trying to recompile a project I've been working on and I keep getting an error message when trying to load a property file:
The system cannot find the path specified.
I guess this has to do with the classpath. But I've added the path to the file in Properties- Java build path- Libraries (external class).
I also checked the .classpath file generated by eclipse, and the path is really there!
Why isn't Eclipse looking at the right path?
