  • Mac OSX: new folder doesn't appear in Finder

    Many times I have the following problem. I create a new folder, but it doesn't appear in the Finder. Right now I have this problem with a folder created in Eclipse. After a while it appears, but I cannot tell when. I can see the folder in the terminal. A similar problem happens when I rename a folder or file. Then I have to move out of the parent folder, open another folder, go back, and most of the time it's there. I'm using 10.8 Mountain Lion now, but this is not a problem of this release. I have this problem for several years now. Maybe I'm the only one with this problem? Is there a way to get this working normally?

    Hello. I've a question: (I sent it in past) I have multipart rar file. Their contents are: file.part01.rar: myfolder (is a folder) data.cab -- file.part02.rar: myfolder (is a folder) data.cab <- file.part03.rar: myfolder (is a folder) data.cab <- file.part04.rar: difffolder (is a folder) anfolder (is a folder) data.cab <- file.part05.rar: myfolder (is a folder) data.cab <-- I want to extract it, so I right-click on "file.part01.rar" and select "Extract to ...". It extract 3 files, but in part 4, WinRAR said: "CRC. This file is currput." I think it problem is in the folders name in part04.rar. Is there anyway to rename folders in part04.rar? and cut "data.cab" from "afolder" to "difffolder". I really need it!! it is very emergency!!!!!!!! Thank you .....

  • A network share folder is invisible to users

    I have a network share folder that I was recently cleaning up permissions to. I took off the four individual names from the access permissions to the folder, and added a new security group (Universal) with standard Read/Write permissions to that folder, then added those 4 people to the group. However... now nobody can see the folder. The users can see the other 9 folders in that shared drive, but the 10th is missing. I cannot see any security permission in the parent folder or in the folder itself which would cause it to be invisible to anyone, regardless of whether they have permission to open it or edit files within.

I'm ok giving mogrify its settings but I don't complete understand how to tell the script to go iterate each folder to run the mogrify command.

  • Unable to remove/hide icons from desktop folder

    I wish to hide some windows icons from my desktop folder1, but cannot. When I click delete, it says they will be deleted from my desktop (which they already are), but they remain visible in the desktop folder, which is where I wish them removed. Is there any way I can remove these? (I always use Win+E which really lets me get to all of these easy enough). Offending icons: Libraries, Homegroup, User folder, Computer, Network, Control Panel, and Recycle Bin. For those who might be wondering why, I find myself in this folder a bit to often (including when uploading a file), and find these nothing but clutter, especially as these always default to the top. Thanks for your help! 1 By desktop folder, I mean the folder you would see by going to "My Computer" and clicking "Desktop" on the top left under Favorites. Note: Changing my "Desktop Icon Settings" under "Personalize" does not affect the desktop folder, but rather just the desktop view.

    I want to share my "My Videos" folder using Windows's built in SMB. The problem is that when I decide to share my video folder and check it on another device, the path always is: networkname>username>my videos instead of just my videos I noticed that indeed sharing gets turned on from the user folder down to the video folder instead of just on the folder I selected. So now my question is why this is happening; And how cold I just display my "my Videos" folder on my remote device and not the entire path? BTW device in question is a hacked Apple TV. thank you for your help! Christopher

    I've got a mac (called 'maxw-hackbook') with a folder (called 'work') which i've shared, making it "read & write" by me, "staff" and everyone. I've then mounted it to a folder on my ubuntu laptop, as follows: #on ubuntu laptop $ smbtree -s WORKGROUP \\MAXW-HACKBOOK maxw-hackbook \\MAXW-HACKBOOK\IPC$ IPC Service (maxw-hackbook) \\MAXW-HACKBOOK\work work $ sudo smbmount //MAX-HACKBOOK/work/ /mnt/hackbook-work -o ip=192.168.1.228,username=Max,password=passwordonmacbook,w This has successfully mounted the "work" folder on the macbook to the /mnt/hackbook-work folder in ubuntu. But, it's read-only, even though i've set the shared folder (on the mac) to be "read and write" by everybody. I need to have write access to that folder on the mac. Can anybody see what i've done wrong? thanks, max

  • Using C# and gppg, how would I construct an abstract syntax tree?

    Is there a way to do this almost out-of-the-box? I could go and write a big method that would use the collected tokens to figure out which leaves should be put in which branches and in the end populate a TreeNode object, but since gppg already handled everything by using supplied regular expressions, I was wondering if there's an easier way? Even if not, any pointers as to how best to approach the problem of creating an AST would be appreciated. Apologies if I said anything silly, I'm only just beginning to play the compiler game. :)

  • In GWT-EXT checkboxtree how to handle single selection of tree nodes?

    hi, I'm working on checkBoxTree in GWT-EXT 2.0.3 with Java. My aim is to get a selectionModel which allows me to select(check) only one TreeNode at a time. If I select another TreeNode after selecting one then, the previous one should be unchecked. I've tried using DefaultSelectionModel with TreePanel, but either I've not used it properly or it's working only for selection of TreeNode not for checking a TreeNode. Can anyone help me in this?     I seem to have some issues sharing folders from my Ubuntu 12.04 machine to a Win7 machine. After playing around with the settings, I decided to revert to Samba's original setting by reinstalling it: sudo apt-get purge samba sudo rm -rf /etc/samba/ /etc/default/samba sudo apt-get install samba just to be sure I also run: sudo apt-get install samba samba-common system-config-samba winbind Now, I can't find /etc/samba folder any more. Even when I try to share a folder through Nautilus, I get: Samba's testparm returned error 1: Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf rlimit_max: increasing rlimit_max (1024) to minimum Windows limit (16384) params.c:OpenConfFile() - Unable to open configuration file "/etc/samba/smb.conf": No such file or directory Error loading services. Same when I try to list: xxx@xxx:~$ ll /etc/samba ls: cannot access /etc/samba: No such file or directory Any ideas what I did wrong, or what other package am I missing? cheers

    I have a new computer installed with Ubuntu 12.04. Then I want to install wireless driver named compat-wireless-3.5-3. Before that, the driver folder to /home/kevin. I want to install it on /opt directory. Before install the driver, i want to copy the driver folder from /home/kevin to /opt. I try to use ordinary copy (Right Click Copy Paste), but the paste is blured. After that, i tried using this on terminal: sudo cp /home/kevin/compat-wireless-3.5-3 /opt But i get this command: cp: omitting directory `home/kevin/compat-wireless-3.5-3' What does the command mean? I can't copy the driver until now.

  • Deleted some files from home folder

    I have recently installed Ubuntu for the first time in my life. So I am fairly new to it. I have deleted some files from my home folder. But now the problems have started. The system volume automatically reduces to zero. Further, as soon as I restarted my system, my panel settings we restored to default. When I right click in my home folder, it gives an option of 'restore missing files' but I am not able to restore them. Please guide me how to restore them. Thanks Narendra

    Im setting up a combined website and extranet currently, they both read from the same database on the same server as the site is hosted on. The reason being that the website is fed from the data that the staff plug into the extranet interface. it also links in to AD for authorising access to the extranet. I have the extranet in a folder within the website folder. What I want to do is only allow the extranet to be accessed from computers within our LAN, but allow the main website to be freely accessible to internet users. I have it set up as a generic web server currently, so anyone can view anything (well up to the point where the user is asked to log into the extranet of course! I have read a lot on this but nothing I read applies to, or works in IIS7.5

  • Organizing Connections with Folders in Oracle SQL Developer

    How many Oracle databases do you work with on a regular basis? I’m guessing the answer for most of you lies between 1 and 500. This post is really geared for those of you who deal with more than just a handful (5) of database connections. Filters are nice when you need to work with a subset of table data, or even a list of tables. So why wouldn’t they be just as useful for organizing your connections? Here’s my complete list of databases: The folders aren’t there by default, you add them as you need them. Now this isn’t an overly large connection list. But when I need to fire up an impromptu demo for a customer, it’s very nice to be able to drill down into JUST those ‘safe’ environments. This actually saves me a few seconds every time I need to connect to one of my databases. So while it’s a very simple feature, it’s one of those things that I recommend EVERYONE take advantage of as it will save them hours of time over the long haul. Easier to find means I get to work a few seconds faster. This also helps me from making mistakes in ‘production’ environments! How to Add a Connection Folder Select a connection you want to organize. Mouse-right-click, and choose ‘Add to folder.’ You can throw it into a new container or an existing one. Lather, rinse, and repeat as necessary. The only trick is remembering to right-click!   • VMWare Fusion Folder Sharing Not Working with Server

    I have a Ubuntu Server running in VMWare Fusion 3.1.2 on my MacBook Pro for Java development and all my projects sit on my Mac in ~/Workspace/ColdFusion. I had ColdFusion/ shared with my VM through the VMWare tools, and it was working perfectly up until friday when the folder sharing just stopped. No updates on either mac or linux besides an iTunes update. I tried uninstalling the VMWare tools and reinstalling them but I get an error at the end of the install. It appears that when I reinstall the tools there are files left over from the old installation. Is there a way to force the unsinstall script to completely uninstall and remove all files for the VMWare-Tools? I know the shared folder used to mount at /mnt/hgfs/ColdFusion.

    I have the option to sync files in nautilus, however when the option is selected nothing happens. I am able to SLOWLY sync files in the Ubuntu One folder (unless in sub-folders), but only there. Why give the option if it does not work? This really is still beta, so to charge for this service is terrible. I am a little frustrated at the moment, I have tried all sorts; removing accounts to a fresh Ubuntu install! I am at a loss :-( Can anyone else sync files outside the Ubuntu One folder, if so how?     A client had her web site and email hosted at "company A". She was switching to "company B" but didn't want to lose her email. I set up a Gmail account, POPed into her webmail account, and pulled the entire inbox into Gmail (for later transfer to her new host). But I forgot about the "sent" folder. Although the hosting plan is still up and running, she changed her domain record to point to the new host. So I can't access the old webmail account via POP or IMAP because the email address needed for authentication now resolves to the new host. Is there any way I can get the contents of the sent folder without having to do a "forward" one message at a time (there are hundreds)?
