  • Has anyone got the vim taglist plugin working with Scala?

    - by Eric Hauser
I'm having trouble getting the taglist plugin working properly with Scala. I've installed the plugin and ctags and verified that it works properly with Java and C++. I then followed the instructions on this page (minus the Lift specific instructuions), but was nothing shows up in the taglist window when I open it while editing a Scala file. Has anyone got this working and what are the proper steps? Thanks.

  • How do i enable syntax highlighting and syntax indentation in mysgit vim?

    - by gath
Am using mysgit for windows, but mysgit vi editor is unable to do syntax highlighting and indentation for my source code (html/python/css .... files) I managed to copy the syntax folder from my original GVIM7.2 installation to Git Vim72 installation folder, now i see like syntax highlighting is active. What am unable to do is indentation. I have tried to copy the ftplugin folder from my GVim7.2 installation to Git Vim72 folder but still no indentation. I have tried to place filetype plugin indent on setting on the vimrc file, but still nothing is working? Any help on how to enable syntax indentation? Gath

  • How can I make Vim autosave files when it loses focus?

    - by Peeja
I'm used to my editors autosaving files when they lose focus. I recently switched to MacVim, and I can't recreate that behavior. I tried this: autocmd BufLeave,FocusLost * wall but if a buffer is unnamed when the window or MacVim loses focus, I get an error like the following: Error detected while processing BufLeave Auto commands for "*": E141: No file name for buffer 1 I'm confused, because :wall's documentation says: Write all changed buffers. Buffers without a file name or which are readonly are not written. so I'd expect it to skip unnamed buffers. Is there a better way to do this?

  • How to export the matches only in a pattern search in vim?

    - by Mert Nuhoglu
Is there a way to grab and export the match part only in a pattern search without changing the current file? For example, from a file containing: 57","0","37","","http://www.thisamericanlife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?episode=175" 58","0","37","","http://www.thisamericanlife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?episode=170" I want to export a new file containing: http://www.thisamericanlife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?episode=175 http://www.thisamericanlife.org/Radio_Episode.aspx?episode=170 I can do this by using substitution like this: :s/.\{-}\(http:\/\/.\{-}\)".\{-}/\1/g :%w>>data But the substitution command changes the current file. Is there a way to do this without changing the current file?

  • How do you automatically remove the preview window after autocompletion in Vim?

    - by Ben Davini
I'm using omnifunc=pythoncomplete. When autocompleting a word (e.g., os.), I get the list of eligible class members and functions, as expected, as well as a scratch buffer preview window with documentation about the selected member or function. This is great, but after selecting the function I want, the preview window remains. I can get rid of it with ":pc", but I'd like it just to automatically disappear after I've selected my function, a la Eclipse. I've played around with "completeopt" but to no avail.

  • how to make the vim plugin "Project" and "Mini Buffer Explorer" work together?

    - by SunLiWei
As the title says, I need to make these plugins work together well. The mini buffer explorer just automatically opens after I open the second file(press Enter in project plugin window), then Mini Buffer Explorer opens as the third window on the top of my screen. But after I switch back to project plugin window and press Enter to open the third file, a fourth window opened! It seems project plugin can't overwrite the second file's window. Project plugin 1.4.1 Mini Buffer Explorer plugin 6.4.0

  • What is your favorite colorscheme FOR PROGRAMMING in Vim?

    - by ThomasGHenry
I think this is a relevant question for programmers and I'd like to hear other people's answers because some syntax highlighting color schemes are better on the eyes than others. This can affect productivity as much as ergonomic keyboards or anything else on here. It's about comfort and productivity. So, I'm curious. Do you find some color schemes better adapted for some languages over others? At the other end of the spectrum, I think coding without syntax highlight is awful and slow going. Does anyone work better like this? Thanks! EDIT: so we'll try it as a community wiki. Similar Question

  • Vim: How to exchange key bindings? (bind '|' on '7' key)

    - by duddle
Having the German Mac Keyboard Layout, it is a pain to type | as it is bound to <A-7> and it is hard for me to reach the Alt key. Thus, I'd like to do the following remapping (exchanging the binding for | and 7): imap 7 <Bar> imap <A-7> 7 The first one works, the second one does not. I have already tried all combinations with inor (no remap) but wasn't successful. Maybe I don't get the concept of remapping. Or I am missing something else.

  • In Vim, how to swap 2 non adjacent patterns?

    - by ThG
I have lines of text, all with the same structure, and would like to make a permutation of 2 elements on all lines: 1257654 some text (which may be long) #Foo 1543098 some other text #Barbar 1238769 whatever #Baz 2456874 something else #Quux I want to obtain : #Foo some text (which may be long) 1257654 #Barbar some other text 1543098 #Baz whatever 1238769 #Quux something else 2456874 This is where I am stuck : :%s/\(\d\{7\}\)\(#.\{-}\)/\2\1/ Where did I go wrong ?

  • Mac OS X Terminal: mouse support?

    - by avetis.kazarian
Is there a native option (ie. without installing extra soft/package/plugins) to enable mouse support in the Terminal app? Actually, I'm using a lot vim with the option set mouse=a (activating mouse features). But it seems that Terminal don't support all xterm's features. It appears (after some googling) that Terminal had once the mouse support, but I wonder where did it go. N.B: I really want mouse support in Terminal, not only for vim, so please, don't suggest MacVim :]

  • How do I install the LargeFile plugin for gVim?

    - by drapkin11
I want to install and use the famed LargeFile plugin to help make opening large files quicker and easier. I've installed other plugins for gVim successfully, by simply placing the '.vim' file in the /plugins folder. But this plugin is a little different, in that it comes as a gzipped '.vba' file. After I unzip it, what do I do next? As I understand it, the same author created vimballPlugin.vim, which is supposed to execute it?
