  • Flash doesn't work any more on 10.04

    I have a very strange problem with flash on my 10.04 system. (An update to 12.04 is not an option, because the system is just too old and slow.) After a recent update flash has just stopped working altogether. Youtube just shows a white square, vimeo a black one. After a 10.04 reinstall the problem stays the same. Not even chrome displays flash content, just a message that shockwave flash could not be loaded. 'ubuntu-restricted-extras' 'flashplugin-nonfree' and 'flashplugin-installer' are all installed in version 11.2.202.238ubuntu0.10.04.1.

  • cPanel email doesn't seem to work - error 550?

    I am fairly new to the web hosting game, so bear with me :) Recently set up a VPS with cPanel and WHM. Everything is going well so far, I've created a user domain and transferred my website there, managed a couple of databases with phpmyadmin, everything was going great until I started messing around with email. I made an email account [email protected] through cPanel, although when I try and email this address I get the following error: Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550 Unknown user (state 13) Quite unsure of what to do next, in all honesty.

  • Does the Ubuntu One sync work?

    I have been on this for several hours now, trying to get a simple second folder to sync with my (paid) account. I cannot tell you how many times I removed all devices, removed stored passwords, killed all processes of u1, logged out and back in online...and still, the tick in the file browser (Synchronize this folder) is loading and loading and loading. Also, I have logged out, rebooted countless times. And this is after me somehow managing to get the u1 preferences to finally "connect" again. I have also checked the status of your services, and none are close to what I am experiencing. And I have checked the suggested related questions above! So please, just confirm whether it is a problem on my side, or a problem on your side.

  • Oracle and Cavium to work together on Java SE 8 on 64-bit ARMv8

    We have been working for some time on a standard Oracle JDK 8 port to the upcoming introduction of 64-bit servers based on the new ARMv8 micro architecture. At ARM TechCon 2013 in Santa Clara, California, we announced a roadmap with an expected GA in 2015. This project is going very well and is ahead of schedule. We will soon be at the point where we will make binaries available outside of Oracle - first in a managed beta program with select customers/partners, and sometime during the fall of 2014 as a public early access program. Unless something changes, we are looking at a early 2015 GA. We should be able to share a detailed ramp down and GA plan by JavaOne 2014. One of the things we (obviously) need to produce a high-quality port is hardware for development and QA. We are therefore happy to announce that we will be collaborating with Cavium on this project. Cavium has been a supporter of the Java ecosystem for a long time and we have numerous joint customers running various Java versions on Cavium MIPS and ARM-based hardware. Cavium has now agreed to provide us with development hardware and engineering resources so that we can certify and optimize the initial Oracle JDK 8 release on Cavium's ThunderX hardware. This is expected to improve quality and performance of JDK 8 on ARMv8 in general, as well as on Cavium's hardware.   • How can I get shockwave flash to work on Ubuntu 12.04

    I've tried most of the things suggested on this site and others so far. It's kind of frustrating because this is a home computer and I mainly use it for browsing the internet and watching YouTube videos. When I try to install something that might fix it, it just downloads a bunch of files and says to extract them or whatever. I'm not sure what to do with the files after I extract them. That's probably the main issue: I don't have a lot of experience working with computers at this level. I'm used to Windows, which seems to make most software installs idiot-proof. Any suggestions are appreciated!!

  • Is it a bug or a task when something doesn't work, yet, in development process

    We usually have this dilemma in our team. Sometimes, in order to implement a task or a story we find out that the system must be in a specific state. For example, a specific system configuration has to be made beforehand. The task / story can be completed and it is working as specified on it with the proper configuration in place. Note that the configuration is not directly related with the task. Next, we have to create a new ... ??? ... something for the process of generating that configuration file. This is where the problems appear. Some say that it is a bug others say it is a task or an extra feature. So, where is the limit between bugs and tasks in the development phase? Should we even consider something a bug if all the tasks are working as stated in their definitions? Can a thing be considered a bug because one compares it to the current (unstable) state of the system? Short example: A feature requires configuring a communication service for a specific operation. In the process of the implementation the team discovers that the service requires the hostnames of the pears to be resolvable to an IP address. The team adds the hostnames to the DNS server (or hosts files) and continues implementing the required feature. After the initial feature is working, a question is risen. Should the sysadmin configure the DNS or hosts file or should our application do it automatically? An automatic solution is possible. So a decision is made to implement it. ... here start the discussions ... is this a bug or an extra feature / task? PS: I know that I mixed feature / task / story in the question. It is intentional. I am interested in separating bugs from the rest. Doesn't matter what the rest means in a particular case.

    Issue: Recently, I am having issues with the permission setup at client side. The way we setup permission is we create AD Group and add the add AD Group to the proper SharePoint Group. If we need to grant permission to a user, we then add the user to the correct AD group. But end user reports that by adding a user to an AD group, this user does not have any access to the SharePoint site. Solution: Change the AD Group scope from Global to Universal fix the problem.   • Ubuntu does not work with Nvidia drivers, gives random squares after logging in

    I tried installing both with wubi and by booting from a usb drive. After I tried both it was the same. Ubuntu tried to login, but after a while, a weird pattern with squarely shapes appeared. At one point, after using recovery mode and then the low graphics one (i don't remember how it was called exactly) i managed to get in. It still didn't display at correct resolution, and the mouse was invisible at times. However, after rebooting once, because i tried downloading the nvidia drivers, i didn't manage to get in again, so i have the same problem... I have no idea what to try to become unstuck. The main problem is that after the login, ubuntu crashes, with a screen full of randomly coloured squares. Should I just give up?

  • arm-none-ebai-gcc does not work from mounted directory

    I want to build project for ARM micro controller. For this purpose in folder with project was placed script, which download toolchain and build him. After run this script toolchain was placed in folder with project. Folder with project placed on another logical disk (which shared between Win and Linux) and this disk is mounting each time when I start develop. (Mount by hand). When I start make, in terminal I receive error: make[3]: arm-none-eabi-gcc: Command not found The output from echo $PATH: /mnt/Smoothie-master/gcc-arm-none-eabi/bin:/usr/lib/lightdm/lightdm:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games The output from whereis arm-none-ebai-gcc: arm-none-ebai-gcc: All binaries files, which are relating to this toolchain are placed in the next directory: /mnt/Smoothie-master/gcc-arm-none-eabi/bin/ and has permissions: "-rwxrwxrwx" Before building this toolchain, I had another similar toolchain (another version of this), but installed through apt-get. And it was removed through apt-get before building new. Where is the problem? Thanks!

    In order to speed up Android development, I've edited my ~/.bashrc to add some paths to PATH: export PATH=${PATH}:/opt/android-sdk/tools:/opt/android-sdk/platform-tools This works just fine from the command line (I can just type android and, no matter where I am, the Android SDK and AVD Manager will start up just fine. However, if I try to type android in the Alt+F2 dialog (Run Application), it gives the following error: Could not open location 'file:///home/felix/android' Error stating file '/home/felix/android': No such file or directory Why is that? What PATH does the Run Application dialog use?

    I upgraded my Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 and my Wifi has stopped working. I have a Lenovo Z560 that has Intel centrino wireless-N 1000. I have searched various threads having similar problems for a solution and have no success. The wlan0 is not even showing up in rfkill. Please help me find a solution.   • TFS 2010 Build gives WorkItemStore error when Create Work Item on Failure is enabled

    I'm using TFS 2010 Build. I have a build definition that uses the DefaultTemplate.xaml template that's stock in TFS 2010, and the Create Work Item on Failure property is set to True in the build definition. I deliberately made a change in my project that breaks the build. When the build runs, I see the compilation error reflected in the TFS Build log within Visual Studio, but I get the error "Value cannot be null. Parameter name: WorkItemStore" when TFS Build next tries to generate a Work Item for the broken build. I tracked down the activity in DefaultTemplate.xaml (see the rather lengthy path to it below) where the Work Item is created for a broken build, and I see it uses the Microsoft.TeamFoundation.Build.Workflow.Activities.OpenWorkItem class to create the Work Item. The appropriate values seemed to be filled out in the Properties window for the Create Work Item activity, so I don't see where I can pass WorkItemStore to it and I don't even know appropriate values for this setting.   • OpenOffice doesn't work

    I installed OpenOffice on 12.04, and set it as the default utility for spreadsheets, but it doesn't run at all. While trying to troubleshoot, I read that it is not recommended to install it alongside LibreOffice. I am about to uninstall OpenOffice because I don't know how to get it working, and LibreOffice is opening my spreadsheet just fine. But just out of curiosity, I also read that I should try deleting .openoffice.org folder; but from where? I don't see it under /usr/lib, nor under my /home.

  • Nvidia drivers don't work with mainline kernel

    I want to try some of the new features in the btrfs filesystem, and to do that I need to use a newer kernel than is included in Ubuntu 12.04. To do that, I have installed linux-headers-3.4.0-030400_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_all.deb, linux-headers-3.4.0-030400-generic_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_amd64.deb, and linux-image-3.4.0-030400-generic_3.4.0-030400.201205210521_amd64.deb from the mainline kernel download here. However, on rebooting into the 3.4 kernel, my desktop is stuck at a very low resolution and I cannot increase it to the full. This did happen when I first installed, but a simple install of the nvidia-current package got everything working nicely with my GTX570 card.
