  • Ruby on rails not popular in big international IT companies?

    I would like to ask you for advice more experienced ROR developers. I am new in programming and like to idea of ROR and I am before the decision on which programing language to specialize Java vs ROR. In the future I wish to learn for bigger international IT companies (IBM, Accenture etc.) but as I am reading their job openings, most of them are hiring Java, C++, .NET... Is the ROR used only in startups or also in bigger companies as well? What should be the reasons of their preference of Java over ROR?

  • How does a linked library combined with the main executable program file interact with a kernel?

    I was attempting to find an answer to this, and I did to some degree, but definitely not anywhere good enough to form a respectable, sensible and clear answer. If I am using Windows, Mac, Linux, or nearly any modern made OS for desktop IBM-compatible PCs, laptops, even tablets and smartphones, there's virtual memory. Clearly, compiling, at least on Windows I know this, an executable object file, such as a simple C "Hello World" output to a terminal, will be linked with the standard library, and several other Window's system software, dynamic linked libraries, and the like. However, how does linking all of these executables together or resources form a connectable interaction with, say, a device driver or any other stuff on the lower level?

    Hi stackoverflow'ers, I've spent the entire day trying to find relevant resources about doing jstat on the WebSphere Process ID. I have WebSphere Application Server 7.0 installed on Windows 2003. I did this command: jstat -gcutil [PID] 1000 But I kept getting "[PID] not found" message. Any idea how to resolve this issue? Or Java's jstat utility does not probe into IBM's derivative JVM? But I require Java 1.6 for a software application to be deployed and I cannot currently upgrade to Websphere 7.0, or use a different application server (WAS 6.1 is the org standard). what are my options?     Hello, I am trying to add the web reference of a IBM FileNet WebSErvice in my .net application. The only change I did is changed the namespace in the reference from System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol TO Microsoft.Web.Services3.WebServicesClientProtocol After doing so, though the application is building properly. I am getting an error ExecuteChanges[webMethod] cannot be reflected. Please help

"Allow more entries to be displayed in the view: When the user clicks more, additional entries should be displayed in addition to the ones which are already displayed. The code should cause the UI to scroll such that the first entry of the "more" set is on top". I am using com.ibm.rcp.browser.service.WebBrowser which is similar to SWT WebBrowser.

  • Sybase to SQLserver linkserver errors

    I have set up a SQL link server between an SQLserver 2005 on a W2003 R2 and a SYBASE 12.5.0.2 server on a IBM AIX H70 system. I use the Sybase ODBC driver 04.20.00.67 The problem is than most of the times (there is no pattern ) when I select rows from a Sybase table I get ONLY ONE ROW without any error. Please note that there is no problem when I insert rows from SQL server to the SYBASE server I appreciate any possible solutions...

However, it is 4 years old and I have a JPA compliant Java application to contend with. In addition, I see that there is a JPATemplate in Spring that has some good functionality, but the Spring documentation says it is already deprecated! Can anybody point me to a solid, modern, JPA compliant, Spring based, working example of a GenericDAOImpl that proxies an Interface to provide generic finder execution?

I am looking for a easier way of simulating large scale planetary body impacts with rotation. I was also wondering if you had any ideas on how to visualize the output from said simulation. I have tried using IBM graphviz, but it is very difficult to work with. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks!
