  • How to extend/patch an existing module or package?

    - by nat
I want to extend some locale-specific features of a python application named OpenERP. All I need is implementing a third party module.function that would be called every time OpenERP calls locale.setlocale() function without changing neither OpenERP nor locale module source code. The only way I can imagine is provide a module named locale.py inside main application package dir, but It seems that is an unpythonic workaround.

  • Famous eponymous programming techniques

    - by Alicia
In some sports certain techniques or elements are named after the athlete who invented or first performed them—for example, Biellmann spin. Is their widespread use of such names for programming techniques and idioms? What are they? To be clear, I am explicitly not asking about algorithms, which are quite often named after their creators. For example, one is Schwartzian transform, but I can't recall any more.

  • Referencing Entity from external data model - Core Data

    - by Ben Reeves
I have a external library which includes a core data model, I would like to add a new entity to this model which has a relationship with one of the entities from the library. I know I could modify the original, but is there a way to without needing to pollute the library? I tried just creating a new model with an entity named the same, but that doesn't work: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: 'Can't merge models with two different entities named 'Host''

  • MVVM/WPF: Using a ObservableCollection<T> as a list in a domain model, is that good/bad ?

    - by msfanboy
I have aggregated models like Customer:Order:Product. As my View is bound to the BillingViewModel which has a Property Customers of type ObservableCollection and ONE customer in this collection has a "list" of orders named ObservableCollection and ONE order in this collection has a "list" of products named ObservableCollection Well I need the ObservableCollection`s for databinding but should a domain model really have a ObservableCollection ? normally it has a List or IEnumerable ! Is this bad habit or having side effects?

  • Find window previously opened by window.open

    - by spender
We've got the following situation, running from a single domain: Page A uses window.open() to open a named window (a popup player). window.open() gives page A a reference to the window. User now reloads page A. The reference to the named window is lost. Using window.open() to "find" the window has the unfortunate side effect of reloading it (undesirable). Is there any other way to get a reference to this window?

  • Sql-server Database query help

    - by menacheb
Hi, I have a Database (Sql-server) with table named 'ProcessData' and columns named 'Process_Name' (Data Type: nvarchar(50)), 'Start_At' (DataType: DateTime) and 'End_At' (Data Type: DateTime). I need to konw for each 'Time-Interval' (let's say 1 second) how many processes (Process_Name = PN) was open (after or equal to the 'Start_at' column and before or equal to the 'End_At' column) during this time (It can be a few rows with the same data). Does anyone know how to make this query? Many thanks,

  • Fluent: Table name different from entity name

    - by Matt
I am trying to use the automapping feature of Fluent with nHinbernate to map a class with a different name than the table itself is name. (This is purely for stylistic reasons we have a class named Foo which contains an object named Bar but the table name is FooBar. We would rather not have a property Foo.FooBar.) I can't find anything detailing how to give Fluent a clue on this change.

  • Style guide for database metadata naming

    - by Nulldevice
We want to establish some database metadata naming rules in our new project. For example: tables are named as nouns in a plural form (courses, books, lessons) if present, an adjective goes before a noun in a table name and is separated by an underscore (red_books, new_lessons) table index column is always named "id" foreign key names are derived from a table name with suffix _id (book_id, red_book_id) so on Does someone know any guide like this?

When date is changed I'll create a table named 2010_06_07. But the problem is if this table is already created. Any suggestions how to check if table exists in Access?

  • Running DllImport commands from CreateRemoteThread

    - by Gbps
I have a function named Msg that's imported from a dll named tier0.dll. I can DllImport this just fine, but the command only works when the dll is attached to another process which can complete the Msg command. Using CreateRemoteThread, it is possible that I could call Msg using C# while still letting it have access to the variables of the attached process it needs to complete the command? Thanks!

  • Example of use of unregistered, dynamically created gen_server's?

    - by me2
Tutorials are abound for working with gen_servers that are named in an OTP application. However, I've been unable to find a good example of dynamically spawning servers that are not registered (not named). Can someone point to a good, simple example? Not ejabberd, for example, where there is a lot to confuse the core idea I'm trying to get at. Thanks.

  • Extracting fields from a define-type object in Scheme

    - by Mike
Hi, I am trying to extract the field 'name' or 'named-expr' from the following object: (bind 'x (num 5)) ;; note that this is not a list, but a type Binding With the Binding definition: (define-type Binding (bind (name symbol?) (named-expr WAE?))) I have tried, but received the error "reference to an identifier before its definition: Binding-name." Here is what I tried typing: (begin (Binding-name (bind 'x (num 5)))) (begin (define x (bind 'x (num 5))) (Binding-name x)) Thank you!

  • When is ¦ not equal to ¦?

    - by Trey Jackson
Background. I'm working with netlists, and in general, people specify different hierarchies by using /. However, it's not illegal to actually use a / as a part of an instance name. For example, X1/X2/X3/X4 might refer to instance X4 inside another instance named X1/X2/X3. Or it might refer an instance named X3/X4 inside an instance named X2 inside an instance named X1. Got it? There's really no "regular" character that cannot be used as a part of an instance name, so you resort to a non-printable one, or ... perhaps one outside of the standard 0..127 ASCII chars. I thought I'd try (decimal) 166, because for me it shows up as the pipe: ¦. So... I've got some C++ code which constructs the path name using ¦ as the hierarchical separator, so the path above looks like X1¦X2/X3¦X4. Now the GUI is written in Tcl/Tk, and to properly translate this into human readable terms I need to do something like the following: set path [getPathFromC++] ;# returns X1¦X2/X3¦X4 set humanreadable [join [split $path ¦] /] Basically, replace the ¦ with / (I could also accomplish this with [string map]). Now, the problem is, the ¦ in the string I get from C++ doesn't match the ¦ I can create in Tcl. i.e. This fails: set path [getPathFromC++] ;# returns X1¦X2/X3¦X4 string match $path [format X1%cX2/X3%cX4 166 166] Visually, the two strings look identical, but string match fails. I even tried using scan to see if I'd mixed up the bit values. But set path [getPathFromC++] ;# returns X1¦X2/X3¦X4 set path2 [format X1%cX2/X3%cX4 166 166] for {set i 0} {$i < [string length $path]} {incr i} { set p [string range $path $i $i] set p2 [string range $path2 $i $i] scan %c $p c scan %c $p2 c2 puts [list $p $c :::: $p2 $c2 equal? [string equal $c $c2]] } Produces output which looks like everything should match, except the [string equal] fails for the ¦ characters with a print line: ¦ 166 :::: ¦ 166 equal? 0 For what it's worth, the character in C++ is defined as: const char SEPARATOR = 166; Any ideas why a character outside the regular ASCII range would fail like this? When I changed the separator to (decimal) 28 (^\), things worked fine. I just don't want to get bit by a similar problem on a different platform. (I'm currently using Redhat Linux).

  • Referencing CDI producer method result in h:selectOneMenu

    - by user953217
I have a named session scoped bean CustomerRegistration which has a named producer method getNewCustomer which returns a Customer object. There is also CustomerListProducer class which produces all customers as list from the database. On the selectCustomer.xhtml page the user is then able to select one of the customers and submit the selection to the application which then simply prints out the last name of the selected customer. Now this only works when I reference the selected customer on the facelets page via #{customerRegistration.newCustomer}. When I simply use #{newCustomer} then the output for the last name is null whenever I submit the form. What's going on here? Is this the expected behavior as according to chapter 7.1 Restriction upon bean instantion of JSR-299 spec? It says: ... However, if the application directly instantiates a bean class, instead of letting the container perform instantiation, the resulting instance is not managed by the container and is not a contextual instance as defined by Section 6.5.2, “Contextual instance of a bean”. Furthermore, the capabilities listed in Section 2.1, “Functionality provided by the container to the bean” will not be available to that particular instance. In a deployed application, it is the container that is responsible for instantiating beans and initializing their dependencies. ... • Rails: Check output of path helper from console

    - by Thor Thurn
Rails defines a bunch of magic with named routes that make helpers for your routes. Sometimes, especially with nested routes, it can get a little confusing to keep track of what URL you'll get for a given route helper method call. Is it possible to, using the Ruby console, see what link a given helper function will generate? For example, given a named helper like post_path(post) I want to see what URL is generated.
