• Solr date field tdate vs date?

  So I have a question about Solr's field date types which is pretty straight forward: what's the difference between a 'date' field and a 'tdate' one? The schema .xml claims that 'For faster range queries, consider the tdate type' and 'A Trie based date field for faster date range queries and date faceting. ' Fair enough... but what's the precisionStep="6" all about? should i change this? does it change the way i would create the query in case I use the tdate? What's the real advantage or what does Solr do that makes it better? P.S went through google, Solr manual, solr wiki and the java docs without any luck so I'd appreciate a kind and explanatory answer :)... • jQuery show submit button on input field click

  Hi, I'm trying to have a comment input field that will show the submit button on a dynamically created form when you click on the input field. Similar to how facebook comments work. When you click on the input field the submit button appears and when you click off it disappears. All the comment input id's are comment_1 etc and the submit button id's are submit_1 etc. I've tried this, jQuery("#[id^='comment_']").live('click',function(event){ if(jQuery("#[id^='comment_']").val() == ""){ jQuery("#[id^='submit_']").hide(); } else { jQuery("#[id^='submit_']").show(); } }); And that won't work for some reason. • jQuery: datepicker - Calendar activated by the icon and the date field at the same time

  Hello, I've already looked around but couldn't find the exact solution/problem I'm having right now. All I want is to have the calendar appear either by clicking on the calendar icon AND from the text field in which the date appears when selecting a date. Right now, after trying different properties, I can only have the calendar appear by one or the other, but not both: the icon and the field. This is the code I'm using to activate it via the icon: $("#datepicker").datepicker({ showOn: 'button', buttonImage: 'images/icon-calendar.gif', buttonImageOnly: true, changeMonth: true, changeYear: true, showAnim: 'slideDown', duration: 'fast' }); Is there a way to have the calendar appear by clicking on the icon AND the field as well? • Hibernate @Index on @Enumerated field doesn't work

  I am using Hibernate to talk to my DB. I have one field that is an enumeration and it is going to be used in a slow query. So I'd like to index it. I've put the following annotations on the field: @Column(name="RIGHT_TYPE", unique=false, nullable=false, length=10) @Enumerated(EnumType.STRING) @Index(name = "ABC_INDEX") protected RightType rightType; However, I don't see any index on that field created. But I can create one manually if I wish so. Why is that? Is there any way to force Hibernate to make it happen?

• HTML text field not displaying decimal places of SQL money value

  I have a text field who's value is populated from a SQL recordset (below). <input name="txtAmount" id="txtAmount" type="text" size="10" maxlength="10" value="<%=RS("Amount")%>"> In the SQL table, the Amount field (which is a money data type) is inserted correctly, as 5.00 However, in the web page, it displays only as 5 (i.e. the decimal places are missing). Anyone know why this might be and how I can get the decimal places to display in the field? Thanks!

• Passing a formula field value into a Crystal Reports command

  Hello eveybody! I have a report, in which I calculate starting date via Formula Fields. Then I need to pass calculated value into a subreport, where I can use it as one of the parameters for the stored procedure in my database. The problem is that for some reason value of the corresponding parameter when the database is queried is empty (or null, I am not sure exactly). What can be wrong in my report template? The formula I use is: ToText( ShiftDateTime ({@StartDate}, {?TimeZone}, "UTC,0")) Name of this formula field is StartDate I pass it into subreport as a Pm-?@StartDateUTC (also tried Pm-@StartDateUTC). I am sure, that @StartDate has correct value (tested in preview with this field in report), also Pm-?@StartDateUTC does has a value, but when CR is accessing DB - the result is empty field value...

• keypress event not being triggered only at start and end of text field in Firefox (JQuery)

  I'm listening for keypress events on an input field with delegation. For some reason, Firefox doesn't trigger the delegated event for cursor UP when at the start of the field, or cursor DOWN when at the end. LEFT and RIGHT work as expected all the time. Directly binding an event listener to the field works fine, so it has to be something to do with delegation. • Searching custom nodes' by field in Drupal?

  Hello- Using Drupal on a project which I made custom node types in using the CCK. I want to be able to search the specific node based on a custom field the node has. So let's say I have this node type Article which has a field "myfield", I want to be able to search for Articles based on the myfield field. I understand the default search module allows for searching of node types using the type:MyNodeType in the search, but I did not see any way to limit which fields are searched. Any tips? Is this something that is going to get crazy? Appreciate the help.

  I have an existing Scala application and it uses case classes which are then persisted in MongoDB. I need to introduce a new field to a case class but the value of it is derived from existing field. For example, there is phone number and I want to add normalised phone number while keeping the original phone number. I'll update the existing records in MongoDB but I would need to add this normalisation feature to existing save and update code. So, is there any nice shortcut in Scala to add a "hook" to a certain field of a case class? For example, in Java one could modify setter of the phone number.

• Drupal CCK Text field not saving.

  Hey Guys, I've been trying to write a CCK Field based on the Text field. But if I create a standard CCK Text field with only 1 value. Then edit a content item for this type, the values are never persisted. When I go back in and edit the same node, the value isn't there. I checked the database and its not in the table for the CCK node. If I use more than one value it works fine. I'm upto date on CCK (6.x-2.6) and CTools (6.x-1.5). Has anyone seen this? and a possible solution?

  I'm playing around with Symfony and have encountered a road block. I created a model "CmsPage" which has a field called "content" which is stored as a clob (this is specific to doctrine I believe). When I created the app I set "--escaping-strategy=on" so if I enter any html when editing a CmsPage that gets encoded with html entities or something along those lines. I would like to allow html in this field and a quick googling hasn't helped much. Maybe I'm searching for the wrong terms. Anywho I would like to disable character escaping for this field and possibly only allow a small selection of html tags. What is the correct way to do this in Symfony?

• Creating a "Universities Attended" Profile field/block (Drupal)

  Interesting question for everyone. So I have am thinking of adding a "university attended" field to the profile page of members in Drupal. I guess I am trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I was originally thinking of a text field, but than I thought you could get multiple instances of of university names, making it hard to sort people by school (ie. UF, University of Florida, Florida, U of F, etc). I then began to think about creating a drop down, but I wasn't quite sure where I could get a listing of all the schools. Perhaps I could find a database population that a site like LinkedIn or Facebook uses. Then I thought of what happens when someone has attended multiple schools, how would I account for that? So, I guess I wanted to pose the question of how would you go about adding a University(ies) attended field to profile pages if you had to design a site to do so?

  Hi, I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle a dropdown list where one of the options "other" shows a hidden text field (via jQuery), where the user can then enter text. Should both the dropdown and the input field be given the same "name" attribute, then server side code runs a check on the values of each in order to know what one is the active value - e.g if the value of the select box is "other", then check the value of the text input field - if this isn't the default value ("enter text"), then it's ok to use this value and save it to the database. Is this a messy approach to this problem?

• Clearing input text feilds when clicked on in Flash (AS 2.0)

  I have a problem where I want a text field that by default has the word NAME in it, to become empty when a user clicks on it. The text field has the instance name 'nam' and is inside a movie with the instance name 'input_text'. I've searched around and found samples of code where everyone keeps suggesting this: textboxinstancename.onSetFocus = function() { textboxinstancename.text = ""; }; should work. It seems to work for everyone else but me. I've tried using the following on the first frame of the 'input_text' movie with no luck: this.input_text.nam.onSetFocus = function() { this.input_text.nam.text = "" } I've tried putting this on the first frame of the scene, again with no result: _root.input_text.nam.onSetFocus = function() { _root.input_text.nam.text = "" } I've tried this in the same manner as the last respectively with both 'this' on the instance and '_root' on the scene (denoted by x): x.input_text.nam.onSetFocus = function() { if (x.input_text.nam.text == "NAME") { x.input_text.nam.text = ""; } }; Still no luck. Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong?

• Select hidden input from within next td [jQuery]

  I have a table layed out like this: <td> somename </td> <td class="hoverable value" > somevalue </td> <td class="changed"> </td> <td class="original value"> <input type="hidden" value="somevalue" /> </td> And what I'm trying to do is, I hover over the hoverable td which turns it into a textbox. Once I hover out I want to check the hidden field for it's original value and put an image in changed if the 2 are different from each other. • How can I represent a line of music notes in a way that allows fast insertion at any index?

  For "fun", and to learn functional programming, I'm developing a program in Clojure that does algorithmic composition using ideas from this theory of music called "Westergaardian Theory". It generates lines of music (where a line is just a single staff consisting of a sequence of notes, each with pitches and durations). It basically works like this: Start with a line consisting of three notes (the specifics of how these are chosen are not important). Randomly perform one of several "operations" on this line. The operation picks randomly from all pairs of adjacent notes that meet a certain criteria (for each pair, the criteria only depends on the pair and is independent of the other notes in the line). It inserts 1 or several notes (depending on the operation) between the chosen pair. Each operation has its own unique criteria. Continue randomly performing these operations on the line until the line is the desired length. The issue I've run into is that my implementation of this is quite slow, and I suspect it could be made faster. I'm new to Clojure and functional programming in general (though I'm experienced with OO), so I'm hoping someone with more experience can point out if I'm not thinking in a functional paradigm or missing out on some FP technique. My current implementation is that each line is a vector containing maps. Each map has a :note and a :dur. :note's value is a keyword representing a musical note like :A4 or :C#3. :dur's value is a fraction, representing the duration of the note (1 is a whole note, 1/4 is a quarter note, etc...). So, for example, a line representing the C major scale starting on C3 would look like this: [ {:note :C3 :dur 1} {:note :D3 :dur 1} {:note :E3 :dur 1} {:note :F3 :dur 1} {:note :G3 :dur 1} {:note :A4 :dur 1} {:note :B4 :dur 1} ] This is a problematic representation because there's not really a quick way to insert into an arbitrary index of a vector. But insertion is the most frequently performed operation on these lines. My current terrible function for inserting notes into a line basically splits the vector using subvec at the point of insertion, uses conj to join the first part + notes + last part, then uses flatten and vec to make them all be in a one-dimensional vector. For example if I want to insert C3 and D3 into the the C major scale at index 3 (where the F3 is), it would do this (I'll use the note name in place of the :note and :dur maps): (conj [C3 D3 E3] [C3 D3] [F3 G3 A4 B4]), which creates [C3 D3 E3 [C3 D3] [F3 G3 A4 B4]] (vec (flatten previous-vector)) which gives [C3 D3 E3 C3 D3 F3 G3 A4 B4] The run time of that is O(n), AFAIK. I'm looking for a way to make this insertion faster. I've searched for information on Clojure data structures that have fast insertion but haven't found anything that would work. I found "finger trees" but they only allow fast insertion at the start or end of the list. Edit: I split this into two questions. The other part is here.

• How can I handle parameterized queries in Drupal?

  We have a client who is currently using Lotus Notes/Domino as their content management system and web server. For many reasons, we are recommending they sunset their Notes/Domino implementation and transition onto a more modern platform--such as Drupal. The client has several web applications which would be a natural fit for Drupal. However, I am unsure of the best way to implement one of the web applications in Drupal. I am running into a knowledge barrier and wondered if any of you could fill in the gaps. Situation The client has a Lotus Domino application which serves as a front-end for querying a large DB2 data store and returning a result set (generally in table form) to a user via the web. The web application provides access to approximately 100 pre-defined queries--50 of which are public and 50 of which are secured. Most of the queries accept some set of user selected parameters as input. The output of the queries is typically returned to users in a list (table) format. A limited number of result sets allow drill-down through the HTML table into detail records. The query parameters often involve database queries themselves. For example, a single query may pull a list of company divisions into a drop-down. Once a division is selected, second drop-down with the departments from that division is populated--but perhaps only departments which meet some special criteria--such as those having taken a loss within a specific time frame. Most queries have 2-4 parameters with the average probably being 3. The application involves no data entry. None of the back-end data is ever modified by the web application. All access is purely based around querying data and viewing results. The queries change relatively infrequently, and the current system has been in place for approximately 10 years. There may be 10-20 query additions, modifications, or other changes in a given year. The client simply desires to change the presentation platform but absolutely does not want to re-do the 100 database queries. Once the project is implemented, the client wants their staff to take over and manage future changes. The client's staff have no background in Drupal or PHP but are somewhat willing to learn as necessary. How would you transition this into Drupal? My major knowledge void relates to how we would manage the query parameters and access the queries themselves. Here are a few specific questions but feel free to chime in on any issue related to this implementation. Would we have to build 100 forms by hand--with each form containing the parameters for a given query? If so, how would we do this? Approximately how long would it take to build/configure each of these forms? Is there a better way than manually building 100 forms? (I understand using CCK to enter data into custom content types but since we aren't adding any nodes, I am a little stuck as to how this might work.) Would it be possible for the internal staff to learn to create these query parameter forms--even if they are unfamiliar with Drupal today? Would they be required to do any PHP programming? How would we take the query parameters from a form and execute a query against DB2? Would this require a custom module? If so, would it require one module total or one module per query? (Note: There is apparently a DB2 driver available for Drupal. See http://groups.drupal.org/node/5511.) Note: I am not looking for CMS recommendations other than Drupal as Drupal nicely fits all of the client's other requirements, and I hope to help them standardize on a single platform. • How do I update mysql database when posting form without using hidden inputs?

  I have a "members" table in mysql which has approximately 200 field names. Each user is given up to 7 website templates with 26 different values they can insert unique data into for each template. Each time they create a template, they post the form with the 26 associated values. These 26 field names are the same for each template, but are differentiated by an integer at the end, ie _1, _2, ... _7. In the form submitting the template, I have a variable called $pid_sum which is inserted at the end of each field name to identify which template they are creating. Is there a PHP function or command that would enable me to update all these values without inserting 175 hidden input tags within each form post?   So I have a simple crosstab report that calculates number of sales in the columns, and the rows are each office. The last column on the right is a total column, which contains a summary field (via a count of the identity field) that adds up the total number of sales per office. How can I sort the crosstab data so the office with the most sales is the top row, and the rest in order under it?
