• DVD (vob file) to online video viewer?

  I've been sent a DVD which needs to be put onto a website, but I honestly don't even know where to start. Do I simply convert the file using some software to MP4(?!) and then use something like http://videojs.com/ to view it online? I'm really sorry for the vague question, but I want to produce the best quality results, with good compression, good quality and a nice video player interface. Would really appreciate any recommendations. Thank you!

• keeping xmphp bot always online

  I created a simple xmpp bot in PHP which connects to google talk server. I basically modified the cli_longrun example. When I run the script in browser the bot comes online and stays online for a while even after I close the tab on which the script was running (as it is just an infinite loop listening for events on the stream). But after a while the bot becomes offline. The question is how do I keep the bot always online. One way I can think of is to run a cron that would disconnect the earlier one and start a new session. But is there a better approch?

  I've worked with folks who are chatting online with their peers, constantly batting around ideas. I've also worked with folks who adamantly refuse and think it's a waste of time. Are online live chatting forums of particular use to you? Why or why not? Internal to your company, or external and world-wide? Does your employer encourage or discourage their use? Update: I see some people are voting this question down, yet so far all the answers have been positive, if with some reservations. If someone has a strong negative opinion (I hate online chatting and think it should be banned etc.) I'd really like to hear why.

  Hi, I'm trying to build some kind of a social game in facebook, where I need that every user that has approved my APP is able to receive notifications from me. When the user approves my App, I save his UID in the DB for future reference. At some later time, I want to make it possible for other users find partners for a game - so I need a way to pick randomly some user from my DB and check if he's online. Then, send him a message and propose to play with the current player. So 2 questions: How can I check if some user is online, using Javascript SDK? It seems that in the new Graph API I can't get the users' online status. How can I then send him a message and propose to play the game?   Our company uses Quickbooks Online to track our books. When our application bills a customer, it would be nice to have that information recorded automatically in QB rather than logging in to QB Online to fill in the info. Is there a way to accomplish this using Quickbook's APIs? The Intuit developer information is very confusing; it is mainly oriented towards extending the desktop version of Quickbooks or developing apps to publish in Intuit's app store. Have you successfully created a web or other service-side app that was able to pull data to or from QB Online?

  Hello, I would like to know if anyone knows of an online service where we paste the code and it generates back the colored html source code for that code. It could be PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript, C, Java. Idea is that once i have the colored html code, i could easily put that in my wordpress.com blog.   Hi all, I have a problem with a Javascript request to the Google Map Api Web Service : if I have the HTML file on my computer it works, but it doesn't work online. • Online remount btrfs of root filesystem with different subvolume (snapshot) [migrated]

  Let's say you have a btrfs root filesystem on an online system. You want to revert the filesystem to an earlier state, of which you have a snapshot: remount /dev/sdaX / -o remount,subvol=snapshots/Y For the record, I've done this in a test system, and it does not work. The command returns with no errors, but the subvolume mounted is the same. If this did work, what would be the consequences? My guess is that open file descriptors would still point to the old subvolume, thus possibly leading to "data loss" on the new subvolume, if one was not careful. Assuming one goes to the trouble of closing and reopening all open file descriptors, does this sound feasible? Or are there other types of problems?

But when I try to enable the "Keep index online while rebuilding" option, the job does not execute successfully and throws out errors. I have attached the screenshots. • RAID5 on SmartArray P410i online resize

  I have P410i+256M Cache without battery backup. My RAID5 was build over 3*136GB disks, now all disks were replaced to a 3*300GB array. How can I extend it to use the whole space? HPacucli doesn't allows that, I think this might be because no battery is present. I have a redundant power supply. All data is mirrored over DRBD to a secondary server, so I can try to resize with a chance of loss of data in case of power failure, but I prefer to have an online resize.

• Move MySQL database while instance is online

  I have a MySQL instance containing a number of databases, one of which is an archive database (although using the INNODB rather than ARCHIVE storage engine) that is not queried or written to in normal operation. The data filesystem is filling up and I'd like to move the archive database's data directory to a different filesystem (and then symlink it back, obviously). If there are no SQL statements attempting to query or update the data during the move, can I safely do this while the MySQL instance and the other databases stay online and in use? I plan to rsync the database directory to the new filesystem, then rename the old one on the original filesystem to something different and create the new symlink. lsof reports that MySQL does have the .ibd files open, so presumably it would have to reopen them.

  Ill keep it brief, I have an HP Ultrium 1 in a server currently running CA ArcServe r11.1. I have 5 daily backup tapes, each of which are new. 3 of the 5 work fine without intervention but 2 of them stop at varying points through the backup asking for a new tape, even though that tape is not full. The way I have found around this is to switch the tape drive offline for 10 minutes then switch it back online, whilst the backup is still running. Has anyone ever seen this before? If so, any ideas how to permanently fix this. If all else fails just some pointers in the right direction. Thanks

  I've accumulated a good collection of book snippets in pdf format from Safari Online and I was thinking about getting an ebook reader, specifically the Sony-PRS300, to hold them all for portable reference. If anyone has done this, two questions. Are there any DRM restrictions when the pdfs are put on the reader? I can't see any restrictions flat out in the pdfs on my notebook. There's a watermark that says the pdf is licensed to me. How good is the reader at rendering complex pdfs, with code snippets and illustrations? I read a previous post where it works fine in landscape mode. I can deal with that. Thanks in advance.

• Having Troubles Getting My Apache Server Online(NodeJS and Apache)

  I am new here. This is my situation. I am using nodejs modules, serialport2 and socket.io, because I am trying to forward the data from my arduino hardware through serialports. In my server side script, I read the data then forward it to the client side. Now I am using Apache to serve the html page,which is the client side. I am running Nodejs on port 8000 and Apache on port 80. It is running OKAY when I view it in my browser typing localhost:80. The data is appearing and seems fine. Now when I tried to get my Apache server online using a Free DDNS provider(http://www.noip.com/) and my port80, it loaded the webpage but there are no data appearing on the page. What seems to be the problem here? Really need your expertise and advice. Thanks in advanced!

  I'm looking for an online task list tool, what I absolutely need is the infinite number of subtask levels, because that's how my mind works. I don't need collaboration. There are a lot of great to do list sites out there, but for some reason most of them have only one subtask level or no subtasks at all. I know about todoist, but its interface doesn't work for me.   I am currently using Diskpart to accomplish these functions, but i would like to be able to use P-Invoke and not have to shell out to an external process in my C# app. The example Diskpart scripts are: //Online a disk Select disk 7 disk online // Reset GPT Identifier select disk 7 UNIQUEID DISK ID=baf784e7-6bbd-4cfb-aaac-e86c96e166ee I tried searching pinvoke.net but could only find functions that dealt with volumes, not disks.
