  • Rebuilding a Mac Mini (early 2009) --- Update

    A couple of months ago I rebuilt the family’s Mac Mini (you can read the details in this post).  Things had gone pretty smoothly until a few weeks ago.  That’s when my wife mentioned that different applications would spontaneously crash. She kept track for a few days, and it turned out to be any or all of the applications that she uses (Safari, Quicken, Entourage, etc.) . I did some online research and didn’t really find too much – but then how do you do a proper Google search for “Mac OS 10.5.8 applications crash”.  The best suggestion seemed to be issues around 10.5.8, where people suggested that you go back to a previous version (something like 10.5.6).  The only way to do that is to completely reinstall the OS – which is what I had just done. SO, instead of doing that, I decided to just reapply the 10.5.8 update by downloading it from Apple (http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update ).  I had installed the updates after the rebuild through the Apple Update mechanism built into OS X.  I thought maybe the combo update would reinstall some corrupted file (or something). I did this about a week ago and sure enough, we’ve had one crash this week with the same usage patterns as before.  I still have no idea what was causing the crashes, but at this point, I’m just going to declare it fixed and move on.

  • Why are Rules not applied to additional mailboxes when using Outlook 2007 and Exchange?

    Hi, I've set up a few rules in Microsoft Outlook 2007. Outlook 2007 is configured to use my Microsoft Exchange account. In the Microsoft Exchange settings, I've set up two additional mailboxes, Inbox1 and Inbox2. Thus, using Microsoft Exchange I now have three mailboxes: Inbox, Inbox1 and Inbox2. The rules I've set up all work fine for mails arriving in the Inbox. However, they do not work at all for mails arriving in either Inbox1 or Inbox2. Do anyone perhaps know why this is, and perhaps what I could to to solve this? Thanx in advance!

  • How to maintain original figure numbers in pdf document saved from Word 2007 file?

    I have a Word 2007 document in which the Figure numbers and List of Figures is correct i.e. exactly as I want. I generate a pdf (Adobe Reader X, Version 10.1.2) from Word 2007 document using the save as option. The List of Figures in the pdf document comes out exactly as present in the Word document, however when I click on that Figure number I see a different number than present in List of Figures. For example, I have this Figure number on List of Figures which is exactly as I want: But the corresponding Figure on Page 61 shows following number: It is becoming 4-21 from 4-7 because the total number of Figures from Chapters 1 till this Figure are 20. However, I want break in number of Figures between each Chapter i.e. Figures for Chapter 4 should start from 4-1, so the number 4-21 is actually 4-7 in that case. How can I correct this? Thanks.

  • SQL UNION ALL problem after using UNION ALL more than 10 times

    I'm getting a formatting problem if I use more than 10 UNION ALL statements in my VBA Code. If I use 10 or less everything works great. What I'm trying to do is combine 12 worksheets (Excel 2007). I have a numerical column called SC that turns into string and date if I have more than 10 UNION ALL. If I try to use ROUND with more than 10 UNION ALL my last selection will change all the records by one unit. I'm using Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 as my provider and my connection string has worked for several things in my code so far. Is there any limit for UNION ALL statements when using OLEDB? Here is my code. In the first place, am I wrong to rely on the order that the key/value pairs are declared in any associative array? But I suppose I've never seen it stated anywhere that the order is guaranteed. Maybe it's not? Any insight would be awesome. Thanks.

  • Probelm with String.split() in java

    What I am trying to do is read a .java file, and pick out all of the identifiers and store them in a list. My problem is with the .split() method. If you run this code the way it is, you will get ArrayOutOfBounds, but if you change the delimiter from "." to anything else, the code works.   • How do I create an Access 2003 MDE programmatically or by command line in Access 2007?

    I have a legacy Access 2003 database file that must remain in that format to preserve its menus and toolbars. I have recently moved to Access 2007 in my build environment and will be deploying the compiled Access 2003 program with the Access 2007 runtime. In Access 2003, I could script the process of creating an MDE with the Access Developer Extensions (WZADE.mde) using the command line and an .xml file of build preferences (without creating an install package). The Access 2007 developer extensions do not seem to offer a similar option. I can "Package a Solution", but it creates an accdr and buries it in a CD installer. I've tried programmatic options like Docmd.RunCommand acMakeMDEFILe and Syscmd(603, mdbpath, mdepath) but they no longer work in Access 2007. Of course, i can manually create an MDE using Database ToolsCreate MDE, but that is no scriptable as far as I can tell.

The error code is 2738.This issue is happened only in Vista, and the details and solution had been posted on TechNet: C:\Windows\System32\regsvr32 vbscript.dll I can download the SharePoint CP and continue my work now. :)

  • Upgrading Code from 2007 to 2010

    So I’ve been doing some upgrades just to see if things will work from 2007 to 2010.  So far most of the stuff I want works, but obviously there are some things that break.  Did you guys know that in 2007 you could add a webpart to the view pages for lists and libraries without losing the toolbar?  In 2010 the ribbon disappears every time you add a webpart.  So if you are using Scot Hillier’s Codeplex project to hide buttons it will not work the same way, because the ribbon is going to disappear altogether. I have also learned another reason why standalone installations are the bane of my existence.  Nine times out of ten the installation is done using Network Service as the application pool account.  You are wondering why is this bad?  Well, let’s just say the site collection administrator with local admin rights wants to attach the IIS Worker process and debug say a webpart.  Visual Studio 2010 will throw a nasty error that tells you that you are not an administrator.  You will say, but I am an administrator?  I have all the correct group permissions on the server and on SQL and in SharePoint.  Then you will go in and decide let’s add my own admin account just to see if I can attach the debugger and you will notice that works properly.  So the morale of the story is create a separate account on your development environment to run all the SharePoint Services and such.  You don’t need to go all out and create the best practices amount of accounts if it’s just your dev environment.  I would at least create one single account to run all your SharePoint process (Services, SQL, and App Pool).  Also, don’t run a standalone install unless you want to kill kittens (this is a quote from Todd Klindt).  We love kittens they are cute and awesome.  Besides you learn more if you click Complete and just skip standalone.  You will learn how to setup SQL Server 2008 and you will learn how to configure your environment.  It will help you in the long run.  So I have ranted enough for today I figure these are enough tidbits for you this time around.  The two of you who read my blog and I know some of you are friends who don’t understand SharePoint.  I might as well have just done “wahwahwahwah” in Charlie Brown adult speak.  Thanks for reading as usual.  I’ll catch you all when I complain more about the upgrade process and share more tidbits, which will inevitably become a presentation at a conference or two.   • 8007064c(2011) and 80280007(2009) persistant after all known repairs

    I'm on Windows 7 Home x64, and have ran into a major issue with Live Messenger(which I use daily). I have full offline installers for both 2011 and the last Wave 3 2009(14.0.8117.0416) Suites. Both give the following errors: Live Essentials 2011 Offline installer(official): An unknown error occured. Error:0x8007064c Source WLXSuite WL 2009 offline installer(official): You already have a more recent version of Windows Live. Error: OnCatalogResult:0x80280007 Next steps: If you want to install this older version, first uninstall any later versions that are on your computer. Get help with this error The 2011 installer also says it is updating messenger, I don't select anything else. Then last 2009 installer says their is a newer version that needs uninstalled even after the following procedures. MS Help pages provided all basically lead to using uninstall from control panel. Which I've uninstalled all Live components including watcom safety scanner and portable SQL from. I've followed online instructions for manually deleting folders from Program Files(x86), Appdata, and some others under \User\All Users and the one for the one account on the machine. I've used CCcleaner 3.01, ASC 3.7.3 and Beta 4 with deep scan along with deleting folders, and checked their uninstallers for Live components too, and none were there. wlmuninstaller.exe tool reports nothing, but after a failed install it finds something, but failes to clean it under all user admin privilege. The same errors still occur after all of that. Google searching I see people on forums suggesting reinstalling the OS cause MS doesn't even know how to fix this, but I'm hoping someone here can help. NOTE: I don't have System Restore or any other state freeze utilities going, and I don't have any real time AV going(I sometime scan with defender, anti rootkits, and online scanners).   • How do I migrate Exchange 2007 to new hardware?

    As per my previous question, I have an Exchange 2007 box which is also a DC. Since I can't demote it while Exchange is installed, I want to move Exchange to a different server. Does anyone have any articles, tips or experiences to share on this? The last time I did this it was with Exchange 2003 and even that is a little rusty in my head. The setup is a single Exchange 2007 Hub/Edge/Mailbox/CAS server. Its currently on Windows Server 2008, I can migrate it to the same OS, or I can go to 2008 R2, I'm not really picky on that. We're running OWA/ActiveSync/POP3(S)/IMAP(S) for client access. I already have another fully functional DC/GC/DNS box in the same site and clients in the site are already using that for DNS. It's also the preferred site bridgehead for AD replication. Update: After reading Evan's answer I realised that my original question wasn't worded correctly. I'm not looking to do a swing migration, I actually need to move Exchange completely over to a new box. I have done swing migrations in the past, i.e. moving over to a temporary box and back to the original hardware afterwards, and I'm not really sure why I used that term in the original question since it's not what I intended. Any tips?
