  • Digital Signature Device Recommendations (Mini Tablet)

    - by blu
I'd like to capture signatures of application users with a mini-tablet/little pos signature device. I welcome any first hand experiences of which ones were good and which ones to stay away from. Off the top of my head I can think of a few features I'd like to see: USB interface Not too expensive (I don't know 100-200 dollars?) Be easy to integrate with a managed .NET application Also I realize most people, myself included, think of digitally signing assemblies with code instead of a mini-tablet device, if there is a more accurate phrase for this pleas let me know. Thanks for any input.

  • sprintf() to truncate and not round a float to x decimal places?

    - by jerrygarciuh
Hi folks, When calculating a golf handicap differential you are supposed to truncate the answer to 1 decimal place without rounding. No idea why but... I know how to do this using TRUNCATE() in mySQL SELECT TRUNCATE( 2.365, 1 ); // outputs 2.3 but I was wondering if sprintf() could do this? The only way I know to work with decimal places in a float is ... echo sprintf("%.1f", 2.365); // outputs 2.4 TIA JG

  • Convert ieee 754 float to hex with c - printf

    - by Michael
Ideally the following code would take a float in IEEE 754 representation and convert it into hexadecimal void convert() //gets the float input from user and turns it into hexadecimal { float f; printf("Enter float: "); scanf("%f", &f); printf("hex is %x", f); } I'm not too sure what's going wrong. It's converting the number into a hexadecimal number, but a very wrong one. 123.1443 gives 40000000 43.3 gives 60000000 8 gives 0 so it's doing something, I'm just not too sure what. Help would be appreciated

  • I'm working on Peano Axioms in Agda and I've hit a bit of a sticking point

    - by Schroedinger
PA6 : ?{m n} -> m = n -> n = m is the axiom I am trying to solve and support, I've tried using a cong (from the core library) but am having troubles with the cong constructor PA6 = cong gets me nowhere, I know for cong I am required to supply a refl for equality and a type, but I'm, not sure what type I'm supposed to supply. Ideas? This is for a small assignment at University, so I'd rather someone demonstrate what I've missed rather than write the acutual answer, but I'd appreciate any degree of support.

  • best solution to use a DLL/Driver?

    - by Alexander
Hi, Im working with a CD722UN Customer Display for our POS application. it comes with a USB2.0 connection and a installation package containing a driver ect.. now, for my application. how should i do when i want to access this driver? at the moment i'm using the "CD722UN application"s .dll path but that can warry from clients OS ect.. Declare Function opencd722usb Lib "C:\Program\cd7220 USB\cd722dusb.dll" () As Boolean Declare Function writecd722usb Lib "C:\Program\cd7220 USB\cd722dusb.dll" (ByRef dataoutput As Byte, ByVal Length As Integer) As Integer Declare Function readcd722usb Lib "C:\Program\cd7220 USB\cd722dusb.dll" (ByRef DataInput As Byte, ByVal size As Integer) As Integer Declare Function closecd722usb Lib "C:\Program\cd7220 USB\cd722dusb.dll" () As Boolean my first thought was to first check if there was a device installed in the device manager and somehow use the driver from there??? or distribute the .dll inside our application folder and use searchpath ""installed directory"\cd722dusb.dll" what is the best solution? thanks in advance!

  • Heuristic to identify if a series of 4 bytes chunks of data are integers or floats

    - by flint
What's the best heuristic I can use to identify whether a chunk of X 4-bytes are integers or floats? A human can do this easily, but I wanted to do it programmatically. I realize that since every combination of bits will result in a valid integer and (almost?) all of them will also result in a valid float, there is no way to know for sure. But I still would like to identify the most likely candidate (which will virtually always be correct; or at least, a human can do it). For example, let's take a series of 4-bytes raw data and print them as integers first and then as floats: 1 1.4013e-45 10 1.4013e-44 44 6.16571e-44 5000 7.00649e-42 1024 1.43493e-42 0 0 0 0 -5 -nan 11 1.54143e-44 Obviously they will be integers. Now, another example: 1065353216 1 1084227584 5 1085276160 5.5 1068149391 1.33333 1083179008 4.5 1120403456 100 0 0 -1110651699 -0.1 1195593728 50000 These will obviously be floats. PS: I'm using C++ but you can answer in any language, pseudo code or just in english.

  • javascript hide/unhide, but want an arrow to point down/up on hide/unhide

    - by user1305810
    I have a simple hide/unhide div section using simple JavaScript. I need to have an arrow image, which will toggle the content visibility when clicked, and I want the little arrow to toggle between right/down positions when the content is hidden and unhidden. HTML content: <a href="javascript:showOrHide();"><img src="Image_Files/Copyright.png" alt="BioProtege Inc" border="0" /></a> <img src="Image_Files/Copyright_Arrow_Hidden.png" alt="Arrow" border="0" /> <div id="showorhide"> Copyright 2012+ BioProtege-Inc.Net | LG Fresh Designz <br /> Contact Us @ [email protected] </div> JavaScript content: function showOrHide() { var div = document.getElementById("showorhide"); if (div.style.display == "block") { div.style.display = "none"; } else { div.style.display = "block"; } }

  • Making a sprite always point to another sprite in XNA

    - by Whitey
I have a player sprite (playerTexture) and a crosshair sprite (crossTexture) in my game. I need to make the player sprite always face towards the crosshair. Does anyone know how to do this? I have tried doing it myself but the math involved boggles my mind. I know there's a rotation parameter in the spriteBatch.Draw() method but I'm unsure how to use it. Thanks!

  • What is the point of JComboBox's getSelectedItem()?

    - by Chris Cooper
I just read the JavaDoc for JComboBox (I promise I have a life... I wasn't reading through for fun. =P), and I think the problems I'm having with my program can be attributed to the getSelectedItem() method. The documentation says: Returns the current selected item. If the combo box is editable, then this value may not have been added to the combo box with addItem, insertItemAt or the data constructors. If you can't get values that were added with those methods or with the constructor, of what use is the method? And how can I get the value from an "editable" JComboBox? • Significant figures in the decimal module

    - by Jason Baker
So I've decided to try to solve my physics homework by writing some python scripts to solve problems for me. One problem that I'm running into is that significant figures don't always seem to come out properly. For example this handles significant figures properly: from decimal import Decimal >>> Decimal('1.0') + Decimal('2.0') Decimal("3.0") But this doesn't: >>> Decimal('1.00') / Decimal('3.00') Decimal("0.3333333333333333333333333333") So two questions: Am I right that this isn't the expected amount of significant digits, or do I need to brush up on significant digit math? Is there any way to do this without having to set the decimal precision manually? Granted, I'm sure I can use numpy to do this, but I just want to know if there's a way to do this with the decimal module out of curiosity.

  • What's the point of some of shoulda's macros?

    - by ryeguy
I think shoulda is really neat, but what I don't understand is why some of the macros exist, such as: should_validate_uniqueness_of :title should_validate_presence_of :body, :message => /wtf/ should_validate_presence_of :title should_validate_numericality_of :user_id I'm relatively new to testing, but what purpose do these serve? They're almost an exact mirror of the same validations that happen in the model. For example, what exactly do you accomplish by going into your model and writing validates_uniqueness_of :title and then writing a test that says should_validate_uniqueness_of :title?

  • Doing 64 bit manipulation using 32 bit data in Fixed point arithmetic using C.

    - by Viks
Hi, I am stuck with a problem. I am working on a hardware which only does support 32 bit operations. sizeof(int64_t) is 4. Sizeof(int) is 4. and I am porting an application which assumes size of int64_t to be 8 bytes. The problem is it has this macro BIG_MULL(a,b) ( (int64_t)(a) * (int64_t)(b) 23) The result is always a 32 bit integer but since my system doesn't support 64 bit operation, it always return me the LSB of the operation, rounding of all the results making my system crash. Can someone help me out? Regards, Vikas Gupta

  • How can I encode four unsigned bytes (0-255) to a float and back again using HLSL?

    - by Statement
Hello! I am facing a task where one of my hlsl shaders require multiple texture lookups per pixel. My 2d textures are fixed to 256*256, so two bytes should be sufficient to address any given texel given this constraint. My idea is then to put two xy-coordinates in each float, giving me eight xy-coordinates in pixel space when packed in a Vector4 format image. These eight coordinates are then used to sample another texture(s). The reason for doing this is to save graphics memory and an attempt to optimize processing time, since then I don't require multiple texture lookups. By the way: Does anyone know if encoding/decoding 16 bytes from/to 4 floats using 1 sampling is slower than 4 samplings with unencoded data?

  • Grails/Compass question - How can I change the compqass Connection to point to a different directory

    - by ombud
Hi, I use the Searchable plugin with Grails I have the need to change the directory to which Compass points to, depending upon a UI choice by the user. Normally, this value is set in the compassConnection variable of the searchable map in grails-app/conf/Searchable.groovy, like so, and gets called at app startup time: searchable { compassConnection = new File( "/path/to/index/file/directory" ).absolutePath ... } To do what I need to do, I think that I need to get a handle into the compass config variable and then call config.setConnection("/new/path/to/index/dir") I don't know how I can get a reference to the config compass variable Am I right in assuming that I need to call setConnection(String) only, or is(are) there any other step(s) I need to take? Really appreciate any help that I can get, Shailen

  • What Determines the Default Setting of the x87 FPU Control Word?

    - by Rick Regan
What determines the default setting of the x87 FPU control word -- specifically, the precision control field? Does the compiler set it based on the target processor? Is there a compiler option to change it? Using Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition on an Intel Core Duo processor, the default setting for the precision control field is "01b", meaning double (53 bit) precision. I'm wondering -- why is the default not "11"b, or extended (64 bit) precision? (I know I can change it using _controlfp.)

  • Getting hardware floating point with android NDK

    - by Goz
Hi All, I've begun playing with the android NDK. One of the things I've just learnt is about creating an application.mk file to specify the armv7 abi. I'm building the san-angeles example with the following parameters. APP_MODULES := sanangeles APP_PROJECT_PATH := $(call my-dir)/../ APP_OPTIM := release APP_ABI := armeabi-v7a However this seems to run at exactly the same speed as it did before (ie badly). Am I just GL limited and not CPU limited or is something wrong here? I have noticed when I compile that I get the following command line options emitted: -march=armv7-a -mfloat-abi=softfp -mfpu=vfp -mthumb The thing that worries me there is the "softfp". There IS mention of the v7 abi, the VFP fpu stuff and I'm guessing the "thumb" refers to the "thumb-2" instructions (Though I don't know what exactly these are). However that "softfp" does concern me. Shouldn't it be "hardfp"? Anyone got any ideas on these questions? I think I'm probably about ready to start implementing some GL ES 2.0 code for my HTC Desire but I'd like to make sure I'm getting the best possible speed out of it :) Cheers in advance!

  • Access 2003 - Embedded ppt slide or Excel Spreadsheet in a form, how do I communicate?

    - by Justin
So if I was to take a an access form, and embed either an excel spreadsheet into it, or a powerpoint slide/pres, how would I reference it in VBA code? So I know I have to set the libraries, name the frame of the OLE object, and use applicable syntax to whatever I want to do, with whatever I stick in the form, however the only things I have ever done with excel and/or powerpoint is automate the opening of a seperate window/application from access, not within the access form....so I am not sure?? if I said its a new Excel.Application, then set xls = to (the ss in the file, and not some file path of another excel file somewhere)? does that make sense?
