• Problem with WindowsXp on VirtualBox in 12.10

  When I try to start it I get: Failed to open a session for the virtual machine WindowsXp. The virtual machine 'WindowsXp' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1. Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) Component: Machine Interface: IMachine {5eaa9319-62fc-4b0a-843c-0cb1940f8a91} and in another dialog: Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908) The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing '/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup' as root. If it is available in your distribution, you should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary. • Network strange problem

  I have a CPanel server with 5 IPs and a few domains. During night, access to main domain through HTTP return 324 no response many times. After several refresh it comes but many assets won't load and return 324. Using HTTPS is fine. During day HTTP is also fine. But another domain on that very sever works fine all the day through HTTP. The server DNS are ns1 and ns2 of the first domain. Second domain is on the shared IP and first domain has a dedicated IP. I cant resolve the problem :( and appreciate any help so much!

• Apt Configuration problem

  I am trying to load v11.04 onto my HP desktop hard drive using a USB drive. I used the same USB drive to load the system on my Dell netbook and it loaded successfully. But trying to load on the desktop I get the error " Apt configuration problem. An attempt to configure apt to install additional packages from the CD failed" The installer then crashes. I have nothing in the CD drive. I can boot the system from the USB drive and it works fine. I have tried all options on the load with the same crash each time. I baffled as I successfully loaded my netbook with the same USB with no problems.

• Problem with NVIDIA G86 on Kubuntu 12.04

  I got problems some weeks ago with my NVIDIA G86 (8500 GT), supposedly due to the infamous 295.40 version of the driver. I got errror messges like NVRM: RmInitAdpterFailed. Tried varous sugestions about setting kernel acpi and memory options, but no luck. I pulled in x-swat and got 302.17, if I remember correctly. It did not help. People recommended xorg-edgers , so I pulled that in and got kernel 3.5.0.12 and nvidia 304.43 but the problem remained. Getting slightly panicked, I tried to back back to vanilla 12.04, so I purged nvidia* and located and removed anything on the system that smelled nvidia. I installed nouveau, cause people said it was great, but as it turns out, my card does not seem to be supported. :-( Sigh... So now I fear that I have atmessed up system, and graphics is terrible. • UbuntuGNOME 13.10 - Problem: Keyboard layout: Control L and Caps Lock swapped

  I have a problem in UbuntuGNOME 13.10 which I didn't had in prior releases: I did a clean install and I don't know if it was already there or if I may have changed something, but my "Control L" and "Caps Lock" keys are swapped. How to swap them back? • boot loading problem after wubi installation of Ubuntu 12.04 on Win7

  I was new in Ubuntu OS and I was just trying to use wubi windows installer to get a Ubuntu first for hands-on. I followed exactly the same as the instructions and after reboot win7, there is no Ubuntu selection in windows boot manager, with only Windows 7 showing there evilly -.- What I've found out was that the grub folder inside Ubuntu folder ( in my C:\ drive) was empty, either inside the ubuntu\disks\grub or ubuntu\install\grub. I thought this might be the reason why I could not load ubuntu during startup. Cause I've also looked into the EasyBCD settings, and ubuntu entry with Bootloader Path: \ubuntu\winboot\wubildr.mbr was lying there peacefully, looking perfectly fine. However it was not in boot loader actually. Is there a way to restore the grub folder with grub2, or is there any way to fix this problem so that I can find the "Ubuntu" selection at windows startup? Very appreciate your help :) Henry

And hitting tab twice does not show me anything either. What I am missing here?

• Problem with Ubuntu 12.04 boot

  I'm having a problem as stated in the title regarding bootup. What happens basically is that after grub is loaded the system doesn't boot. I get a black screen with cursor blinking then the screen darkens ( switches off ) and keyboard is unresponsive. Today I have re-installed everything on a new hard drive and it happened again. This has been observed when running kernel 3.5.0-30 and 3.5.0-28. System is an HP6550b. Can someone help me on this please ? Many Thanks!

  I recently bought a new VPS , and i was trying to set private nameservers in my domain cpanel. I went ahead and added 4 A records ns1.mydomain.com - points to my ip ns2.mydomain.com - points to my ip www.mydomain.com - points to my ip mydomain.com - points to my ip and changed the nameservers to ns1 & ns2.mydomain.com the problem is that now while typing www.ns1.mydomain.com and www.ns2.mydomain.com in browser it points to the correct IP address but the www.mydomain.com is saying an Error The webpage at http://demiracles.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 137 (net::ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED): Unknown error. Error message in chrome is above. Please help me.

  I moved from Archlinux to Kubuntu 12.04 yesterday. I compiled buildroot 2012.08 on Archlinux without any problem. Though on Kubuntu libcrypt seems to be broken. sysvinit can't find it anywhere. glibc-dev and all dependencies are installed. How do I link to libcrypt?   I have a problem with ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my custom tower pc in which the OS hangs at specific points:- - live usb with persistence: hangs when mouse appears. - installed to hard disk: hangs after login, logon sound never plays. i am a relative newbie with linux so any terminal output would not make sense to me :) the pc specs are as follows: - MSI MS-7301 Cuba motherboard - 3GB DDR2 RAM (NOT dual channel) - ATI Radeon HD 5450 gfx card the live usb works fine on all other PC's i tried it on. could any one help me ?

• Problem using python QPID and gevent together [closed]

  I have a python script that pulls messages from an Apache QPID queue, and then uses gevent to perform (IO-bound) tasks on those messages in parallel. The queue that this script pulls from was recently changed: I suspect the version of the C++ QPID broker changed, although I cannot verify this at the present time. Now, my process deadlocks and hangs upon QPID queue creation. I strongly suspect that this is a result of an incompatibility with gevent, although I have not done the work yet to produce a minimal example to demonstrate the problem. (Next on my list). Does anybody else have experience of getting gevent and QPID to work together? or Has anybody else seen the same issues?

• Sprite animation problem

  I have this sprite I have to animate. The sprite is 7 images total but animation is 10 frames (2 positions are repeated). The order I want to go through the frames is like this: 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 - 0 - 2. My problem is how can I skip 1 frame once I reach the end of each direction? The reason I want to skip is to save me from creating duplicate positions in the spritesheet. I'm doing this in Javascript.

• Constrained A* problem

  I've got a little problem with an A* algorithm that I need to Constrained a little bit. Basically : I use an A* to find the shortest path between 2 randomly placed room in 3D space, and then build a corridor between them. The problem I found is that sometimes it makes chimney like corridors that are not ideal, so I constrict the A* so that if the last movement was up or down, you go sideways. Everything is fine, but in some corner cases, it fails to find a path (when there is obviously one). • Ubuntu crash problem, need fix

  Upgraded to 12.04 LTS Beta 2, on a Dimension E310. The unity Sidebar crashes while I use Software Center. The only way I can close Software center Is to either power off my computer or use force quit app on the unity side bar. Thats why I believe it's the sidebar crashing instead of the software center. But the other problem is, apport don't recognize the bug so nothing is sent. How do I file this bug? I looked in VAR/Crash and there was no crash report.

• Can't install AMD drivers and Blinking problem

  I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with WUBI, everything is going fine and ubuntu is awesome but i have a little problem. When i open my Sony VAIO model E laptop, i have 2 choices (which is normal) but when i select Ubuntu 1/2 of the time it will just give a rapidly blinkin color background and can only be corrected if i reboot the computer and select ubuntu again. I think this has something to do with the fact i can't get any driver update for my computer from AMD, according to their website, VAIO computers aren't supported. I have a AMD RADEON HD 7650M graphic card which is not detected in ubuntu. When i try to install the drivers using the drivers application it gives a "can't install" error. What should i do?

• Edubuntu boot problem on dual boot PC

  When booting Edubuntu on a dual boot PC with Windows 7, the last message that I get is "Restoring resolver state" [Ok]. I then press the Enter key, some other messages come up and go away too quickly to notice what they say, and then the system shuts down. Windows 7 works fine. My system is an older Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop with 3Gb usable memory. This all started happening after attempting to upgrade to the next version of Edubuntu, but was not allowed to because I didn't have enough space in my partition to allow for it. I'm unsure whether that has anything to do with the problem.

  Possible Duplicate: Importance of learning to google efficiently for a programmer? Avoiding lengthy discussions, as a senior level student in CS, how can I get away from Googling problems I run into? I find myself using it too much; I seemingly reach for the instant answer and then blindly copy and paste code, hoping it works. Anyone can do that. I've read the related threads about being a better programmer, but mostly those recommend practicing on pet projects, which I have done, but again I feel EVERY wall encountered, from design through completion, was hurdled with Google. Do professionals instantly "research" their problem? Or do you guys step back and try and figure it out yourselves? I'm talking about both 'algorithm/design' problems as well as compiler issues.

  On a new website, I publicly display an email address, [email protected]. Then I set up an email forwarder in my hostmonster cPanel, so that if the public email address ever became spam ridden then we can chop off the forwarding. However, the client received a spam message that looked like the following. To: client's personal email address (not the public address) Subject: domain.com opportunities Body: marketing junk The problem is that the "to" should have said [email protected]. I am now worried that the real email address was retrieved on the backend of hostmonster.
