  • asp:Validator in invisible elements + invisible targets

    Somewhat straightforward: will asp:Validators still perform validation when they're in invisible containers? How about if their ControlToValidate target is invisible? For example: <asp:Panel id="myPanel" runat="server" visible="false"> <asp:Textbox id="myTextbox" runat="server" /> <asp:RequiredFieldValidator id="myRfv" runat="server" controltovalidate="myTextbox" /> </asp:Panel> Above is a Validator in an invisible Panel. Would myRfv still perform validation? How about if myTextbox is invisible instead? I'm asking this because I have very specialized Validators in my ASPX, wherein I also have Panels which are hidden/shown dynamically. While I'm all for disabling the validators themselves, I'm just curious whether they'll automatically disable anyway. Thanks guys! :D

    Hello! I'm using a DataGrid with edit functionalities in my project. It's handy, compared to having to edit its source data manually, but sadly, that means that I'll have to deal with validating user input a bit more. And my problem is basically just that. When deploying I noticed that the ~/App_GlobalResources directory is not copied to the release folder on build anymore. How can I make sure the App_GlobalResources directory is copied along?

  • asp:Button is not calling server-side function

    Hi guys, I know that there has been much discussion here about this topic, but none of the threads I got across helped me solve this problem. I'm hoping that mine is somewhat unique, and may actually merit a different solution. I'm instantiating an asp:Button inside a data-bound asp:GridView through template fields. Some of the buttons are supposed to call a server-side function, but for some weird reason, it doesn't. All the buttons do when you click them is fire a postback to the current page, doing nothing, effectively just reloading the page.   • Filter rows from Cursor so they don't show up in ListView

    I have a Cursor that returns rows I use with a SimpleCursorAdapter to populate a ListView. I would like to filter some of the rows so they don't get displayed in my ListView. I use the data from the rows elsewhere in my Activity so I don't want to change my SQL to filter them with a WHERE clause. What is the best way to keep a row from being displaying in my ListView? Ideally I would check a column in my row and then only add rows to the ListView that satisfy a condition.

  • Problem with events and ParseControl

    I'm adding a control (linkbutton) dynamically using ParseControl and it's fine except when I specify an event handler. If I use: Dim c As Control = ParseControl("<asp:LinkButton id=""btnHide"" runat=""server"" text=""Hide"" OnClick="btnHide_Click" />") it correctly adds the control to the page but the click event doesn't fire. If instead I find the control in the controls collection and manually wire up the event it works fine. I've tried loading in both Page_Init and Page_Load and it's the same thing either way. Any ideas?

  • Using a Type object to create a generic

    Hello all! I'm trying to create an instance of a generic class using a Type object. Basically, I'll have a collection of objects of varying types at runtime, and since there's no way for sure to know what types they exactly will be, I'm thinking that I'll have to use Reflection. I was working on something like: Type elType = Type.GetType(obj); Type genType = typeof(GenericType<>).MakeGenericType(elType); object obj = Activator.CreateInstance(genType); Which is well and good. ^_^ The problem is, I'd like to access a method of my GenericType< instance, which I can't because it's typed as an object class. I can't find a way to cast it obj into the specific GenericType<, because that was the problem in the first place (i.e., I just can't put in something like:) ((GenericType<elType>)obj).MyMethod(); How should one go about tackling this problem?   • Prims vs Polys: what are the pros and cons of each?

    I've noticed that most 3d gaming/rendering environments represent solids as a mesh of (usually triangular) 3d polygons. However some examples, such as Second Life, or PovRay use solids built from a set of 3d primitives (cube, sphere, cone, torus etc) on which various operations can be performed to create more complex shapes. So my question is: why choose one method over the other for representing 3d data? I can see there might be benefits for complex ray-tracing operations to be able to describe a surface as a single mathematical function (like PovRay does), but SL surely isn't attempting anything so ambitious with their rendering engine. Equally, I can imagine it might be more bandwidth-efficient to serve descriptions of generalised solids instead of arbitrary meshes, but is it really worth the downside that SL suffers from (ie modelling stuff is really hard, and usually the results are ugly) - was this just a bad decision made early in SL's development that they're now stuck with? Or is it an artefact of what's easiest to implement in OpenGL?

    Hi, I have a JSON response that is formatted from my C# WebMethod using the JavascriptSerializer Class. I currently get the following JSON back from my query: {"d":"[{\"Lat\":\"51.85036\",\"Long\":\"-8.48901\"},{\"Lat\":\"51.89857\",\"Long\":\"-8.47229\"}]"} I'm having an issue with my code below that I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on. I can't seem to get at the information out of the values returned to me. Ideally I would like to be able to read in the Lat and Long values for each row returned to me.     Hello, I'm having trouble with my programming style and I hope to get some feedback here. I recently bought Javascript: The Good Parts and while I find this a big help, I'm still having trouble designing this application. Especially when it comes to writing function and methods.   • Is it OK to write code after [super dealloc]? (Objective-C)

    I have a situation in my code, where I cannot clean up my classes objects without first calling [super dealloc]. It is something like this: // Baseclass.m @implmentation Baseclass ... -(void) dealloc { [self _removeAllData]; [aVariableThatBelongsToMe release]; [anotherVariableThatBelongsToMe release]; [super dealloc]; } ... @end This works great. My problem is, when I went to subclass this huge and nasty class (over 2000 lines of gross code), I ran into a problem: when I released my objects before calling [super dealloc] I had zombies running through the code that were activated when I called the [self _removeAllData] method. // Subclass.m @implementation Subclass ... -(void) deallloc { [super dealloc]; [someObjectUsedInTheRemoveAllDataMethod release]; } ... @end This works great, and It didn't require me to refactor any code. My question Is this: Is it safe for me to do this, or should I refactor my code? Or maybe autorelease the objects? I am programming for iPhone if that matters any.

    I am having a problem with fluent nhiberbate mapping two tables to one class. I have the following database schema: TABLE dbo.LocationName ( LocationId INT PRIMARY KEY, LanguageId INT PRIMARY KEY, Name VARCHAR(200) ) TABLE dbo.Language ( LanguageId INT PRIMARY KEY, Locale CHAR(5) ) And want to build the following class definition: public class LocationName { public virtual int LocationId { get; private set; } public virtual int LanguageId { get; private set; } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public virtual string Locale { get; set; } } Here is my mapping class: public LocalisedNameMap() { WithTable("LocationName"); UseCompositeId() .WithKeyProperty(x => x.LanguageId) .WithKeyProperty(x => x.LocationId); Map(x => x.Name); WithTable("Language", lang => { lang.WithKeyColumn("LanguageId"); lang.Map(x => x.Locale); }); } The problem is with the mapping of the Locale field being from another table, and in particular that the keys between those tables don't match. Whenever I run the application with this mapping I get the following error on startup: Foreign key (FK7FC009CCEEA10EEE:Language [LanguageId])) must have same number of columns as the referenced primary key (LocationName [LanguageId, LocationId]) How do I tell nHibernate to map from LocationName to Language using only the LanguageId field?

  • Accordion "growing out" from its container - in IE7/8

    I think this problem is best explained by images. This is how my accordion looks: When you click on the small plus/minus icons the slides under each chapter will expand/collapse. However when the content in the accordion grows too tall, it grows out from its container. So if I click on more plus icons the accordion will look like this (not pretty): As you can see, the container is not growing taller together with the accordion and it does not look good. This problem only occurs in IE7 and IE8. It works in Firefox and Chrome.   • Pass property to access using .NET

    I'm fairly sure this is possible, but what I want to do is have a generic method where I can pass in an object along with a Expression that will tell the method which Property to use in it's logic. Can anyone get me started on the syntax for something like this? Essentially what I would like to code is something like: Dim firstNameMapper as IColumnMapper = new ColumnMapper(of Author)(Function(x) x.FirstName) Dim someAuthorObject as new Author() fistNameMapper.Map("Richard", someAuthorObject) Now the mapper object would know to set the FirstName property to "Richard". Now using a Function here won't work, I know this... I'm just trying to give an idea what I'm trying to work towards. Thanks for any help!
