  • Trying to get these list items to display inline

    I have several unordered lists that I want to display like this: <ul> <li><img></li> <li><p></li> //inline </ul> //linebreak <ul> <li><img></li> <li><p></li> //inline </ul> ...etc I'm not able to get the li items to be inline with eachother. They are stacking vertically. I have stripped away most styling but still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong: html: <ul class="instrument"> <li class="imagebox"><img src="/images/matepe.jpg" width="247" height="228" alt="Matepe" /></li> <li class="textbox"><p>The matepe is a 24 key instrument that is played by the Kore-Kore people in North-Eastern Zimbabwe and Mozambique. It is played by standing on a platform and struck with mallets that have lacross-ball size heads (they are actually made with rubber dog balls).   • For reliable code, NModel, Spec Explorer, F# or other?

    I've got a business app in C#, with unit tests. Can I increase the reliability and cut down on my testing time and expense by using NModel or Spec Explorer? Alternately, if I were to rewrite it in F# (or even Haskell), what kinds (if any) of reliability increase might I see? Code Contracts? ASML? I realize this is subjective, and possibly argumentative, so please back up your answers with data, if possible. :) Or maybe an worked example, such as Eric Evans Cargo Shipping System? If we consider Unit tests to be pecific and strong theorems, checked quasi-statically on particular “interesting instances” and Types to be general but weak theorems (usually checked statically), and contracts to be general and strong theorems, checked dynamically for particular instances that occur during regular program operation (from B. Pierce's Types Considered Harmful, where do these other tools fit? We could pose the analogous question for Java, using Java PathFinder, Scala, etc.

  • Problem with EditText.requestFocus()

    In the onCreate() of an activity, I've got a call to requestFocus() on an EditText. Immediately after, I've got the following: System.out.println(mEdit.isFocusableInTouchMode()); System.out.println(mEdit.isFocusable()); System.out.println(mEdit.isFocused()); These were just put in while I was trying to figure out what is wrong with this activity... they all print "true". However, as you may have guessed, the EditText does NOT have focus, and if I try to start typing, nothing happens. I have to click on the EditText to being typing. I can't see that anything else has focus, but obviously something has to have it.. how can I find out what it is?

    I have a simple html form that I've added validation to using the JQuery Validation plugin. I have it working for single fields that require a value. I now need to extend that so that if a user answers Yes to a question they must enter something in the Details field, otherwise the Details field can be left blank.   • How to format a dos path to a unix path on cygwin command line

    When using Cygwin, I frequently copy a Windows path and manually edit all of the slashes to Unix format. For example, if I am using Cygwin and need to change directory I enter: cd C:\windows\path then edit this to cd C:/windows/path (Typically, the path is much longer than that). Is there a way to use sed, or something else to do this automatically? For example, I tried: echo C:\windows\path|sed 's|\|g' but got the following error sed: -e expression #1, char 7: unterminated `s' command My goal is to reduce the typing, so maybe I could write a program which I could call. Ideally I would type: conversionScript cd C:/windows/path and this would be equivalent to typing: cd C:\windows\path

  • Rails partial show latest 5 kases

I have asked here how to get a partial working to show the latest entry in the kase model, but now I need to show the latest 5 entries in the kase model in a partial.   • Jquery - Errors only in Internet Explorer

    Hey Guys I am getting several errors only on IE8 running on my vista OS. On the other browsers (Chrome, FF, Safari) everything works fine. Not sure where to begin looking. When I open a new IE8 browser and enter the homepage URL of my website - I get the following error and the page opens up blank: Line: 19 Character: 12043 Code: 0 Error Message: Object required URL: http://xyz.com/js/jquery.js Then in one other place - I have a modal form which has a text area - when I start typing - after typing every character - this error shows up Line: 19 Character: 30711 Code: 0 Error Message: 'this[...].style' is null or not an object URL: http://xyz.com/js/jquery.js Thanks for your help

  • Signing an unsigned assembly

    The recent upgrade of NHibernate 2.1 has brought a mega headache situation to the surface. It seems most of the projects build by default as signed assemblies. For example fluentnhibernate references the keyfile fluent.snk. Nhibernate.search builds unsigned from what I can gather and will not build signed that is if you reference a generated keyfile, you get the error: Referenced assembly 'Lucene.Net' does not have a strong name This means projects like castle.activerecord that have nhibernate.search as a dependency will not build as you get the horrendous error referenced assembly nhibernate.search does not have a strong name: Quite a few projects use caslte.activerecord so it is quite important that this builds. Has anyone any idea what to do here as I am totally out of ideas? This is complete madness.

  • Do you feel underappreciated or resent the geek/nerd stigma?

    At work we have a piece of A4 paper with the number of everyone in the office. The structure of this document is laid out in rectangles, by department. I work for the department that does all the technical stuff. That includes support—bear in mind that the support staff isn't educated in IT but just has experience in PC maintenance and providing support to a system we resell but don't have source code access to, project manager, team leader, a network administrator, a product manager, and me, a programmer. Anyway, on this paper, we are labelled as nerds and geeks. I did take a little offence to this, as much as it is light hearted (but annoying and old) humour. I have a vivid image that a geek is someone who doesn't go out but codes all day. I code all day at home and at work (when I have something to code...), but I keep balance by going out. I don't know why it is only people who work with computers that get such a stigma. No other profession really gets the same stigma—skilled, technical, or whatever. An account manager (and this is hardly a skilled job) says, "Perhaps [MY NAME HERE] could write some geeky code tomorrow to add this functionality to the website." It is funny how I get such an unfair stigma but I am so pivotal. In fact, if it wasn't for me, the company would have nothing to sell so the account managers would be redundant! I make systems, they get sold, and this is what pays the wages. It's funny how the account managers get a commission for how many systems they sell, or manage to make clients resubscribe to. Yet I built the thing in the first place! On top of that, my brother says all I do is type stuff on a keyboard all day. Surely if I did, I'd be typing at my normal typing speed of 100wpm+ as if I am writing a blog entry. Instead, I plan as I code along on the fly if commercial pressures and time prohibit proper planning. I never type as if I'm writing normal English. There is more to our jobs than just typing code. And my brother is a pipe fitter with no formal qualifications in his name. I could easily, and perhaps more justifiably, say he just manipulates a spanner or something. Does you feel underappreciated or that a geek/nerd stigma is undeserved or unfair?

  • NSTextField and hidden property

    Hi, I have an NSTextField that I hide when the user presses a button. I hide the text field using [textField setHidden:YES]; The problem is that is the user is typing in the text field (i.e. the text field is first responder) and the user presses the return key (which is the key equivalent for the button that hides the text field) the user can keep typing in the text field even though its not visible. How do I correctly remove a text field without actually deallocating it? Thanks.

  • C# WPF: Combobox isn't jumping down the list as I type when I use a multiconvert on it.

    Basically, I have a combobox that is built by doing multibinding (multiconverter) for the memberdisplaypath. The problem is if the combobox is selected and I start typing, it doesn't jump down the list. Doesn't it go by what's displayed in the combobox for typing? That is, if the combobox is setup like so: //value/display (please disregard how weird the numbering is...) //ref - the value is built upon an observablecollection of a class. ref / "" ref / "10 - Very much agree." ref / "15 - Somewhat agree." ref / "19 - No weight." ref / "23 - Somwhat disagree." ref / "33 - Very much disagree." If the user presses the "1" key it should jump to "10 - Very much agree." But, instead it just sits there...

  • Executing <script> elements inserted with .innerHTML

    I've got a script that inserts some content into an element using innerHTML. The content could for example be: <script type="text/javascript">alert('test');</script> <strong>test</strong> Problem is that the code inside the <script> tag doesn't get executed. I googled it a bit but there were no apparent solutions. If I inserted the content using jQuery $(element).append(content);the script parts got eval'd before being injected into the DOM. Has anyone got a snippet of code that executes all the <script> elements? The jQuery code was a bit complex so I couldn't really figure out how it was done.

If I select manually the word "gray" and click on my button, the function returns me [object HTMLSpanElement].     Hi all, this is something that i don't want to program, but i was looking for a handy way of logging on to my web app. i'm building (and testing and running) my webapp over and over again, and here i've been provided a strong password. needless to say it's not so nice to enter my full user name + strong password 30 times a day. is there a nifty tool which lives in the background and when i open page localhost/mytestpage.aspx, it will say: "hey, let me type in michel and sdfs%^%gfhg in these two textboxes"?

    Hi all, I have used wmd-editor in my cakephp v1.3 application. The config which I have written is as follows: wmd_options = { output: "HTML", lineLength: 40, buttons: "bold italic | link blockquote code image | ol ul heading hr", autostart: true }; When I submit the form the HTML in the wmd enabled textarea is saved in the database with htmlentities() done to the text then I am displaying it with html_entity_decode() method. but the text is displayed as it is including the HTML coding like this <p><strong>hello dear friends</strong></p>\n\n<pre><code>I want to make sure that everything that you type is visible clearly.\nadasfafas\n</code></pre>\n\n<blockquote>\n <p>sadgsagasdgxcbxcbxc</p>\n</blockquote>\n\n<p><em>sadfgsgasdsgasgs</em></p>\n\n<p><b><a href="http://kumu.in">this is the link</a></b></p> Please help me solve this problem Thanks

  • Problem sending php variables to flash game, on facebook

    When I run the app for the first time in a session it works great i get all data form Database(if i logout, and enter with a diffrent account)the swf does not receive the variables. If i run manually the script typing the url address in the browser (typing: http://myserver.com/app/variables.php), and refresh the facebook app, it receives the data perfectly.How can i fix this?I used the URLVariables, URLRequest and flashvars but still with no succes.I asked for help on many forums but without succes, apparently there are many in my situation.Could this porblem be due the fact tha facebook does not allow flash to talk outside? Any help would be highly apreciated!Thanks!!

  • Funny characters in my db

    My web app is breaking when I try edit a certain content type and I'm pretty sure it is because of some weird characters in my database. So when I do: SELECT body FROM message WHERE id = 666 it returns: <p>⢠<span></span></p><p><br /></p><p><em><strong>NOTE:</strong> Please remember to use your to participate in the discussion.</em></p> However when I try to count how many documents have those characters postgres complains: foo_450_prod=# SELECT COUNT(*) FROM message WHERE body LIKE'%â¢%'; ERROR: invalid byte sequence for encoding "UTF8": 0xe2a225 HINT: This error can also happen if the byte sequence does not match the encodi Does anybody know what the issue is and how I can query for those funny characters?   • Display an Image using C# in Web Application

    Hello again, I have a Web Application that I built a C# class in that generates a Report. This report takes nearly 40 seconds to generate because it searches hundreds of folders for certain files. So I was hoping there was a way to display a "Loading.." icon as this report is generating. I have a gif stored in my Images folder that would be perfect. The research that I've done at this point mostly talks about picturebox's and image controls that can hold the image but I was hoping there was just a way of displaying the image above the report while its being created. The Web Application is from a Web ADF Geocortex website and again I created a C# class that generates this report.     I need a regex to run against strings like the one below that will convert absolute paths to relative paths under certain conditions. <p>This website is <strong>really great</strong> and people love it <img alt="" src="http://localhost:1379/Content/js/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/msn/teeth_smile.gif" /></p> Rules: - If the url contains "/Content/" I would like to get the relative path - If the url does not contain "/Content/", it is an external file, and the absolute path should remain Regex unfortunatley is not my forte, and this is too advanced for me at this point.
