  Good morning, everyone. I'm on a short-term contracting gig, trying to patch some vulnerabilities in their legacy code. The application I'm working on is a combination of Classic ASP(VBScript) and .Net 2.0 (C#). One of the tools they have purchased is Fortify 360. Let's say that this is a current classic ASP page in the application: <%@ Language=VBScript %> <% Dim var var = Request.QueryString("var") ' do stuff Response.Redirect "nextpage.asp?var=" & var %> I know, I know, short and very dangerous. Any advice?

• MS Chart Control Scale - Line graph show 12 months

  Hi, On my X Axis, I have months. The chart shows up to 11 points, i.e. Jan - Nov of the same year, but when I add 12 points (Jan - Dec), it will do an auto label thing and change the interval for every 4 months. How can I change the graph so that it shows 12 months before it does the auto labels? • Setting up a button to trigger both modalPopupExtender and his Click Method

  Hey guys, I have this modalPopupExtender, I want it to show a CheckBoxList with some data. I have set up a button to call both the method to fill the CheckBoxes and trigger the modalPopup (TargetControlID). they're all inside an UpdatePanel. with the right triggers. The problem is that when I click the button it shows the modalPopup but doesn't load the method to fill my CheckBoxes... Also, a linkButton inside the poup (linkButtonCheckAll) just closes the popup when clicked.   hi guys i'm new to asp.net mvc.. so basically i just build up a two page app which takes the registration information of the user and post it to the database. i use a lot of jquery and ajax calls to retrieve data from the database using linq to sql stored proc object. and currently i'm stuck at one page where after the user submits the form it should redirect him to /Home/AddProduct. What i found was the error: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. what used on my form are basically a combination of html controls, asp.net controls and some asp.net mvc type controls. i submit the form using action="/Home/ProductAdded" and after doing some googling i found i was supposed to add in the machine key but after doing so, the index page becomes unviewable. because it couldn't find the index file now. removing the action helps, but now it just doesn't go anywhere. so what am i missing here? i feel i'm missing a lot of fundamentals understanding about asp.net mvc and i don't even know how to submit a form and go to a different page here!!

I have a custom UserControl with a Panel that contains a a couple Labels, both .aspx controls. .aspx: <asp:Panel runat="server"> <asp:Label ID="label1" runat="server"> </asp:Label> </asp:Panel> <asp:Panel runat="server"> <asp:Label ID="label2" runat="server"> </asp:Label> </asp:Panel> Codebehind: private readonly Object object; protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { // These are the lines that are failing // label1 and label2 are null label1.Text = object.Value1; label2.Text = object.Value2; } public ObjectRow(Object objectToDisplay) { object = objectToDisplay; } On another page, in the code behind, I create a new instance of the custom user control. protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { CustomControl control = new CustomControl(object); } The user control takes the parameter and attempts to set the labels based off of the object passed in. The labels that it tries to assign the values to are however, null. Is this an ASP.net lifecycle issue that I'm not understanding? My understanding based on the Microsoft ASP.net lifecycle page was that page controls were available after the Page_Initialization. What is the proper way to do this? Is there a better way?

Is there a way to show only 10 elements and scroll the rest? I read in some pages that this is not possible. • DroDownlist in DataGrid produces Error

  I have a DataGrid and everytime I change value of it's embeded dropdwonlist I get: "System.Web.HttpException: The IListSource does not contain any data sources." I have a data grid which loads fine: Name column is editable. I have a dropdownlist these : DataDataGrid gets its value from a table. (Select Name, Address From Persons) Dropdown list also gets list of names from the same table. So DataGrid and dropdownlist are bound to 2 different datasets.   So I'm been pounding on this problem all day. I've got a LinqDataSource that points to my model and a GridView that consumes it. When I attempt to do an update on the GridView, it does not update the underlying data source. I thought it might have to do with the LinqDataSource, so I added a SqlDataSource and the same thing happens.   I want to create a three level menu, I have got a recursive function today that works with three levels. But the thing is how do i output the third lever? Using two repeaters i have managed to get a hold of the first two levels through the ChildNodes property. But that only gives me the second level. What if a want the third level? Example code below. • How can I save an ASP.NET IFRAME from a custom entity's OnSave event, reliably?

  I have a custom ASP.NET solution deployed to the ISV directory of an MS Dynamics CRM 4.0 application. We have created a custom entity, whose data entry requires more dynamism than is possible through the form builder within CRM. To accomplish this, we have created an ASP.NET form surfaced through an IFRAME on the entity's main form. Here is how the saving functionality is currently laid out: There is an ASP.NET button control on the page that saves the entity when clicked. This button is hidden by CSS. The button click event is triggered from the CRM OnSave javascript event. The event fires and the entity is saved. Here are the issues: When the app pool is recycled, the first save (or few) may: not save be delayed (ie. the interface doesn't show an update, until the page has been refreshed after a few sec) Save and Close/New may not save For issue 1.1 and 2, what seems to be happening is that while the save event is fired for the custom ASP.NET page, the browser has moved on/refreshed the page, invalidating the request to the server. This results in the save not actually completing. Right now, this is mitigated with a kludge javascript delay loop for a few seconds after calling the button save event, inside the entity OnSave event. Is there any way to have the OnSave event wait for a callback from the IFRAME?

In the code sample above I have 2 Label controls with their contents set to an h1 header tag. The first Label is styled using css, and the second with the Label's inline properties (both Labels have identical styling). But the first Label doesn't output properly, it's border is broken. If I replace the first Label's markup with plain "Hello world" text it renders properly, but it breaks again when I use markup. Can someone explain why this is happening?
