    I am testing out my asp.net on mono's VM Ware Image using opensuse From the home page it says Trying out your own code You can test your own applications by connecting with the file manager on this machine to the machine hosting your application, and copying over the directory containing application and its associated files. To test your ASP.NET applications, copy your code to a new directory in /srv/www/htdocs , then visit the following url: http://localhost/directoryname/page.aspx Where directoryname is the directory where you deployed your application, and page.aspx is the initial page for your software, typically Default.aspx. Mirror: http://tortillaflatscafe.com/ I saw my app had errors. After i restarted the VM i can no longer run my app. Instead of getting error messages or anything i get this error instead.     I've been struggling a bit with the jQuery Form plugin. I want to create a file upload form that posts the data (JSON, from the chosen file) into a REST service exposed by a servlet. The URL for the POST is calculated from what the user chooses in a SELECT dropdown. When the upload is complete, I want to notify the user immediately, AJAX-style. The problem is that the POST header has a Content-Length of 0 and contains no data.   • How can I request local pages in the background of an ASP.NET MVC app?

    My ASP.NET MVC app needs to run a set of tasks at startup and in the background at a regular interval. I have implemented each task as a controller action and listed the app-relative path to the action in the database. I implemented a TaskRunner process that gets the urls from the database and requests each one at a regular interval using WebRequest.Create, but this throws a UriFormatException. I cannot use this answer or any code that plucks values from HttpContext.Current.Request without getting an HttpException with the message "Request is not available in this context". The Request object is not available because my code uses System.Threading.Timer to do background processing, as recommended here. Here are my questions: Is there really no way to make local web requests within an ASP.NET web app? Is there really no way to dynamically ascertain the root path to the web app even using static dependencies in ASP.NET? I was trying to avoid storing the app's root path in the database (as FogBugz does with its "Maintenance Path"), but is this best option?

    I tried to assign a class static variable like this class QueryLogger < Logger @@query_logger_default_instance = nil def self.default_instance # Use global variable because static variable doesn't work @@query_logger_default_instance ||= self.new(STDOUT) end end In initializers folder of my rails app, I added a file with this code block ActiveRecord::Base.logger = QueryLogger.default_instance In a request (action of controller), I make a call to this: QueryLogger.default_instance. My assumption is that the call to default_instance will always report the same. However, it does not. Now I try to watch stuff in NetBeans by setting breakpoint inside default_instance. Thing happen as expected, the default_instance get called twice, one due to the initializer block and one due to the call to my action. Surprising thing is, in both times, @@query_logger_default_instance report nil inside NetBeans inspector. The first nil report is correct, but the second shocked me. It's look like static variable gets reset after rails app initialized. Is there some magic there?

  • How can I include .pdf files when I publish but not in a search and replace in visual studio?

    More specifically my problem is if I include a pdf in my project and set its build action to content so it gets copied to the server when I publish, is there a way to exclude it from visual studios search and replace feature. Would a post build action be a solution to this? I just don't want anybody to do a global search and replace in my project and mess up the pdfs...     So I'm using ActiveRecord model validations to validate a form in a RESTful application. I have a create action that does: @association = Association.new and the receiving end of the form creates a data hash of attributes from the form parameters to save to the database using: @association = user.associations.create(data) I want to simply render the create action if validation fails. The problem is that the .create (not !) method is throwing an exception in cases where the model validation fails. Example: validates_format_of :url, :with => /(^$)|(^(http|https):\/\/[a-z0-9]+([\-\.]{1}[a-z0-9]+)*\.[a-z]{2,5}(([0-9]{1,5})?\/.*)?$)/ix, :message => "Your url doesn't seem valid." in the model produces: ActiveRecord::RecordInvalid Exception: Validation failed: Url Your url doesn't seem valid. I thought .create! is supposed throw an exception whereas .create is not. Am I missing something here? Ruby 1.8.7 patchlevel 173 & rails 2.3.3

    I have this add user form, it also doubles as a edit user form by querying the data and setting the value="#query.xvalue#". If the user exists (eg, you're editing a user, it loads in the users data from the database. When doing this on the <cffile field it does not load in the data, then when the insert goes to insert data it overrights the database values with a blank string (If a user does not input a new file). How do I avoid this?   • iPhone - how to be notified of call completion

    Hi- I'm developing an application that needs to take action on completed phone calls, preferably right after the call ends but minimally once per day. I've read up on the new CoreTelphony framework, and it seems I can get call events if my app is active, but I don't see how to launch/wake my app when a call ends if my app is not the foreground app. I also don't see how any of the new pseudo-background "modes" would allow my app to listen for these events in the background. Do any of you know how this might be done? If post-call processing isn't possible, then I'd like to figure out a way to automatically wake my app up once per day, pull all of the call events since the last wakeup, and process them. I know how I might do this with Push or Local notifications, but my understanding is that those require user action to continue; in this case, I just want the processing to happen automatically. Is there a mechanism that would enable this? Thanks, Dan

    If I have many input controls in a form (There are separate validators for each of these input controls - like required,length and so on ) , there is a command button which submits the form and calls an action method. The requirement is - though the input control values are , say , individually okay - the combination of these values should be okay to process them together after the form submission - Where do i place the code to validate them together? 1) Can i add a custom validator for the command button and validate the combination together? like validate(FacesContext arg0, UIComponent arg1, Object value) but even then I will not have values of the other input controls except for the command button's/component's value right ? 2) can i do the validation of the combination in the action method and add validation messages using FacesMessage ? or do you suggest any other approach?     Hi, I'm having some issues trying to make a HTTP PUT (or POST) using WebClient against a MVC 2 controller. The exception is: The parameters dictionary contains a null entry for parameter 'total' of non-nullable type 'System.Int32' for method 'System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Company(System.Guid, Int32, Int32, System.String)' The controller action is: [HttpPut] public ActionResult Company(Guid uid, int id, int total, string url) The route is: routes.MapRoute( "CompanySet", "job/active/{uid}/company/{id}", new { controller = "Job", action = "Company" } ); As you may see, what I want is to send the 'uid' and 'id' parameters via url, but the 'total' and 'url' parameters as part of the PUT or POST body. I've also tried to merge the latter parameters into a class (i.e., CompanySetMessage), doing it no longer raises an exception but I dont receive the values on the server side. Any ideas? Thank you!

    I am developing a C# VS 2008 / SQL Server 2008 website. Although this same code compiles in the Project version, the website version does not compile. Many of their files are the same so I do not understand even where to look. The only compile error I get is: Could not load type 'DataMatch' in my DataMatch.aspx file. Is the problem in my web.config file? How do websites differ from projects in VS? All four of these files reside in same directory.   • Kohana 3.2 - Database Session losing data on new Page Request

    I've setup my dev Kohana server to use an encrypted database as the default Session type. I'm also using this in combination with Auth to implement user authentication. Right now my user's are able to authenticate correctly and the authentication keys are being stored in the session. I'm also storing additional data like the user's firstname and businessname during the login procedure. When my login function is ready to redirect the user to the user dashboard, I'm able to see all the data correctly when I do $session::instance()->as_array(); (Array ( [auth_user] => NRyk6lA8 [businessname] => Dudetown [firstname] => Matt )) As soon as I redirect the user to another page, $session::instance()->as_array(); is empty. By dumping out the Session::instance() object, I can see that the Session id's are still the same. When I look at my database table though, i dont see any session records being saved and my session table is empty. My bootstrap.php contains: Session::$default = 'database'; Cookie::$salt = 'asdfasdf'; Cookie::$expiration = 1209600; Cookie::$domain = FALSE; and my session.php config file looks like: return array( 'database' => array( 'name' => 'auth_user', 'encrypted' => TRUE, 'lifetime' => 24 * 3600, 'group' => 'default', 'table' => 'sessions', 'columns' => array( 'session_id' => 'session_id', 'last_active' => 'last_active', 'contents' => 'contents' ), 'gc' => 500, ), ); I've looked high and low for an answer.. if anyone has any suggestions, i'm all ears! Is there any alternative I can use to determine how much revenue a corporation has, taking into account that a corporation might be listed several times with the same tradeID?

The code was for my comments controller, and now I find myself wanting to add this functionality to another controller, my Messages controller. I immediately tried reusing the working code from the comments controller but I couldn't get it to work. I'll explain how much of the code I understand. When a comment is created, a cookie is created with a last_post_time value. If they try to post another comment, the cookie is checked if the last one was made in the last two minutes. If it was a flash warning is displayed and no comment is recorded. What I don't really understand is how the post_check method works and how I can adapt it for my simpler posts controller. I thought I could reuse all the code in the message controller with the exception of the line: @message = Message.find(params[:message_id]) # (don't need the redirect code) in the post_check method. But it trips up on the "record_post_time" in the create action/method. I really want to understand this. Can someone explain why this doesn't work? I greatly appreciate you reading my lengthy question.
