  In this text: warning here there are several types of warnings in this string warning.gif at the end warning end of line warning I want to match every warning except warning.gif. I cannot seem to get it to include the last one that has no character (control or otherwise) after it. using warnings?[^\.] gets what I want except for the last warning (on the last line). I think because there is no character at all after. How can I get it to include that one?

  i need a dropdownlist to show current month and year (January 2010) till January 2011, and an additional record of January 2011 +.   What I'm looking for is something like materialized views in front-end that shows my data in diffident ways without full recalculation. let's say I have stock watcher with many front-end views and dashborads some based on aggregation, order by or just filter with different criteria defined realtime by user. Now, I receive online record updates from some webservice and it's not like "data warehouse" every single record can be updated any time and it actually happens every second. Is there any technology can help me in such I create something like materialized view and it's update it without doing full recalculation every time data changed. Thank you.

  Odd situation... I need to create a new instance of a class that needs a member of the calling class. But i can't pass a reference to the calling class through the constructor. The solution i am looking for is something like this: Public Class ChildClass Public Sub New(args) _MyMember = GetMemberFromCallingClass() ... ... End Sub End Class I want this to work without having to manually pass any references or variables from the calling class to the new instance of ChildClass. Is this possible and if so, what should i look at to make this part of my code.

• Preserving NULL values in a Double Variable

  Hi, I'm working on a vb.net application which imports from an Excel spreadsheet. If rdr.HasRows Then Do While rdr.Read() If rdr.GetValue(0).Equals(System.DBNull.Value) Then Return Nothing Else Return rdr.GetValue(0) End If Loop Else I was using string value to store the double values and when preparing the database statement I'd use this code: If (LastDayAverage = Nothing) Then command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@WF_LAST_DAY_TAG", System.DBNull.Value) Else command.Parameters.AddWithValue("@WF_LAST_DAY_TAG", Convert.ToDecimal(LastDayAverage)) End If I now have some data with quite a few decimal places and the data was put into the string variable in scientific notation, so this seems to be the wrong approach. It didn't seem right using the string variable to begin with. If I use a double or decimal type variable, the blank excel values come across as 0.0. How can I preserve the blank values? Thanks

• Perform tasks with delay, without delaying web response (ASP.NET)

  I'm working on a feature that needs to send two text messages with a 30 second delay, and it is crucial that both text messages are sent. Currently, this feature is built with ajax requests, that are sent with a 30 second javascript delay, but since this requires the user to have his browser open and left on the same page for at least 30 seconds, it is not a method I like. Instead, I have tried to solve this with threading. This is what I've done: Public Shared Sub Larma() Dim thread As New System.Threading.Thread(AddressOf Larma_Thread) thread.Start() End Sub Private Shared Sub Larma_Thread() StartaLarm() Thread.Sleep(1000 * 30) StoppaLarm() End Sub A web handler calls Larma(), and StartaLarm() and StoppaLarm() are the methods that send the first and second text messages respectively. However, I only get the first text message delivered - the second is never sent. Am I doing something wrong here? I have no deep understanding of how threading works in ASP.NET, so please let me know how to accomplish this.

  I am trying to set up a function so that whether I pass a blank cell or do not even select a cell for the argument it returns the function I am looking for.   Until now, I've been using acts_as_taggable_on plugin for tagging announcements. That plugin creates the following tables: taggings: relates tags and announcements table(for the tagged item, it has a field called taggable_id, which I rename to "announcement_id" for what I'll explain below). tags: has the tag ids and names. The other day, I discovered that I had no way of getting the announcements tagged with a certain tag, but doing Announcement.tagged_with(tag_name), and I don't want to search by name, but for id. So, as I'm using almost nothing of the functionality in that plugin, I decided to create the models for taggings and tags tables, to accomplish this: Announcement.tags. The models' relationships look as following: class Tagging < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :announcement belongs_to :tag end class Tag < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :announcements, :through => :taggings end class Announcement < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :tags, :through => :taggings Why can't I execute the command Announcement.tags? Because when I try, I get undefined method `tags'

• Alert Box Running First?

  I have some jQuery/JS below. If I run this the alert will show, and then the first animate will happen in the background but not be shown. It will just appear at the final size. Shouldn't the alert run at the end of all the animation? Can anyone explain why this is happening?

• How to use Joomla to allow users to create/update data on my site?

  Right now Im using an extension called chronoforms but Im open to anything that works. I can make forms just fine, and it saves the submitted data to a table. Where I am stuck is, how do I then allow my front end users who filled out and submitted the form to go back, view their old answers, change them, and resubmit them or resave them. In order to do this I think I would need to be able to retrieve their last answers from the table on which it is stored, replug the last specific data record for that user only back into the original form on the front end and let the user change and resubmit it? Unless there is a better way to allow the user to change their answers to a form and resave them? If anyone knows how to do this, or if there is a better way I should be going about doing this, (perhaps there is another extension that handles this kind of thing) please let me know. Thanks!

  is it possible to load only the latest associated record of an associated table? an example: class author attr_accessible :first_name, :last_name, :birthday has_many :books end class book attr_accessible :pages, :date of publication, :title belongs_to :author end Is there a way to generate a scope to load only the newest released book the author wrote? Or the book with the most pages? I know, that I could include or join all books. But I don't know if its possible to load only a specific book for each author.   Let’s say you wish to have two classes like so, each declaring an instance variable that is of the other’s class. @interface A : NSObject { B *something; } @end @interface B : NSObject { A *something; } @end It seems to be impossible to declare these classes with these instance variables. In order for A to include an IV of class B, B must already be compiled, and so its @interface must come before A’s. But A’s must be put before B’s for the same reason. Putting the two class declarations in separate files, and #import-ing each other’s .h doesn’t work either, for obvious reasons. So, what is the solution? Or is this either (1) impossible or (2) indicative of a bad design anyway?

  I have a Java application that I am considering releasing over the web as an applet. I am concerned about java-savvy end users being able to somehow view the source code, given that my web server would be sending the code to their remote jvm when they try to use the applet. What precautions can be taken to ensure that end users are never able to directly view source code of an applet? I am hoping that release as an applet might somehow protect the privacy of the code more than releasing an application with downloadable jars that the user could just unzip. Is this true?

• Generating data on unlevel background

  I want to make an unlevel background and then generate some test data on that using Matlab. I was not clear when I asked this question earlier. So for this simple example for i = 1:10 for j = 1:10 f(i,j)=X.^2 + Y.^2 end end where X and Y have been already defined, it plots it on a flat surface. I don't want to distort the function itself, but I want the surface that it goes onto to be unlevel, changed by some degree or something. I hope that's a little clearer.

• RSpec leaves record in test database

  Whenever I run a user test, RSpec leaves the Fabricated user in the test database after the test has completed, which is messing up my other tests. I will do a rake db:test:prepare, but when I run my tests again, the record is recreated in my database. I have no idea why this is happening. It only happens with user objects. In my spec_helper file I even have: config.use_transactional_fixtures = true Here is an example test that creates a record: it "creates a password reset token for the user" do alice = Fabricate(:user) post :create, email: alice.email expect(assigns(alice.password_reset_token)).to_not eq(nil) end Fabricator: Fabricator(:user) do email { Faker::Internet.email } password 'password' name { Faker::Name.name } end Could this have anything to do with my users model?

• UPDATE statement wrapped in an IF EXISTS block

  I'm trying to write a DML script that updates a column but I wanted to make sure the column existed first so I wrapped it in a IF EXISTS block IF EXISTS(SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME='Client' AND COLUMN_NAME='IsClarityEnabled') BEGIN UPDATE Client SET IsClarityEnabled = 1 WHERE ClientID = 21 END So the weirdness is that it tries to execute the update even if it fails the condition. So column doesn't exist and the UPDATE statement runs and I get an error. Why? Even stranger is that this does work: IF EXISTS(SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME='Client' AND COLUMN_NAME='IsClarityEnabled') BEGIN EXEC('UPDATE Client SET IsClarityEnabled = 1 WHERE ClientID = 21') END Is there something special about an UPDATE command that causes it to behave this way?

I'm receiving undefined method `friends_path' for #<#<Class:0x21f0c14>:0x21ef364> Here is the beginning of the form <% form_for(@friend) do |f| %> And the friends controller def new @user = User.find(params[:user_id]) @friend = @user.friends.build end This is the route resources :users do resources :friends end And the relevant path from "rake routes" users/:user_id/friends/new(.:format) {:controller=>"friends", :action=>"new"} Any help or insight is greatly appreciated.
