  • Where is the help.py for Android's monkeyrunner

    Hi, I just can't find the help.py file in order to create the API reference for the monkeyrunner. The command described at the Android references monkeyrunner <format> help.py <outfile> does not work when i call monkeyrunner html help.py /path/to/place/the/doc.html. It's quite obvious that the help.py file is not found and the monkeyrunner also tells me "Can't open specified script file". But a locate on my system doesn't bring me a help.py file that has anything to do with monkeyrunner or Android. So my question is: Where did they hide the help.py file for creating the API reference?

  • Legality Of Re-Implementing An Existing API (e.g. GNU implementing the UNIX APIs)

    I've often wondered about this. I'm not looking for legal advice, just casual opinions ;) If some company publishes an API on the web for their closed-source library, would it be legal for another party to release an open-source implementation of that API? Are function declarations considered source code? Take GNU implementing the UNIX APIs, for example. The UNIX standard gives the following function declaration and defines its required behaviour in English: char * mktemp(char *template); Now, consider an API that lists and declares and describes several thousand (more much complex) functions, enums, etc.; an API which defines a solution to a non-trival set of problems. If an open-source project publishes C headers that copy (verbatim) the function definitions contained in the closed-source company's published API, doesn't that violate some sort copyright law?

  • android browser downloadfile.bin (wordpress cf7)

    i got a little problem with a wordpress site that uses contact form 7 and android browser (at least android v1.5). when a user submits the cf7 form (using ajax followed by a js redirect) and tries to return to the forms page later (using the back button as well as opening the form's url) the download prompt for a 'downloadfile.bin' appears. this behavior can not be reproduced on any other mobile or desktop browsers. could anyone shed some light on this issue? thank you in advance!

    how can I modify the embedded photo gallery slideshow from Google's Picasa to auto repeat the pictures, i.e. play them over and over again?   • low latency data link pc to android

    can anyone recommend a method for low latency bi-directional com link between my pc app and android slave app. the app i have works now via wifi but the latency is too slow (about 300mS), i'm looking to get it down to 10mS or so. the android is acting like a glorified remote control to the game on the pc. the apk displays a low res image and sends button presses back to the game and the round trip need to be quick i'm thinking the only option beside the network, is to connect a usb cable but i don't see a lot of support for that path and not even sure it would be lower latency than wifi any ideas please?

    Hi I'm stuck on a problem and if possible I will need help from the community. I'm not looking for a ready-made solution, but something which would help me to produce the result. I'm looking for a way to produce a dynamic activity based on a JSON object. Here an example of a JSON object: [ { "name": "my checkbox name", "type": "checkbox", "value": "one,two,three" } { "name": "my edit text", "type": "text", "value": "" } ...] This JSONObject could be totally random. I could have 2 text views, 3 select menus, 1 text view and so on. The goal is to iterate over this JSONObject and create the appropriate elements within my android code. To produce the result I've thought of a simple switch which would render one by one my different JSONObject to an android widget. But after that how could I have access of every property of every widget rendered? Thank you.

    Does anyone know of a walk-through or any examples of any code to setup sensors in android. I have the drivers available to me. Also i have implemented the sensors library as instructed in the Android-Reference along the sensors.h template. I am still unable to get any response at the apps level. How do i trace this issue? what might be the problem? Thanks in advance UPDATE: Jorgesys's link below points to a great APP to test if the sensor drivers are functioning properly or not. Not that i know they are not functioning, Any ideas of on where to dig??...

    Hello, I'm doing a college project on Bluetooth for Android, and I'm trying to understand how to manage communication between multiple connected devices. Eventually I'm going to develop a multiplayer Bluetooth Game. Currently I've adapted Android's sample app BluetoothChat to connect my three Nexxus One phones. 1 connects to 2 who connects to 3 1 sends its messages successfully to 2. 3 sends its messages successfully to 2 as well. 2 can send its messages successfully to 1 and 3, as it shares a ConnectedThread with both. But I can't figure out how to handle getting communication from 1 to 3. Does anyone have any examples of communication between multiple devices or has done this themselves? Thanks

  • Is XML-RPC bad used as a protocol for a public API implementation?

    I need to implement a web API for a project I'm working on in this period. I read there are many standard protocols to do it: XML-RPC, SOAP, REST. Apparently, the XML-RPC one is the easiest one to implement and use from what I saw, but I didn't find anything about using it to implement an API. Instead I found many tutorial about creating a REST API in PHP, for example. Is there any counter-indication for using XML-RPC to implement a public web API? Also, more generally speaking, I could (sort of) define a custom protocol for my API, to keep things simpler (i.e. accepting only GET request containing the parameters I need): would this be so bad? Is using a standard protocol a must-do?

    I'm currently writing some stylesheets for mobile browsers and have come across a strange issue in the Android browser. When changing the font-size CSS attribute of a text box the box gets bigger to accomodate the larger text. Doing this on a select box however does not change the size of the select box, but the text still gets larger (actually overlapping the top and bottom of the rendered form element). Can anyone tell me if it's possible to increase the height of select boxes in the Android browser. Or if not point me in the direction of a list of CSS attributes that can be applied to them.     I just finished the NotepadV1-3 tutorial for Android apps, and I was thinking of creating my own inventory app for fun, which for now basically consists of a list of names (such as "DVD" or "Grocery"), each of which can be clicked, which will bring up another specific list associated with that name. However, with the SQLiteDatabase.insert(..) method, the ContentValue can only take (among many others) "String, String" as argument, and I can't figure out how to input into the database a list of Strings associated with a particular key. I'm having trouble researching on how to resolve this as I am not that familiar with SQL. What would be the best way to store a key with its associated list of Strings? Any pointers and suggestions are appreciated! Android newb :[
