• How do I switch the table that is queried with linq-to-sql

  We have two tables with the same set of columns; depending on the “type” of object the value is stored in one of the two tables. I wish to use common code to access these two tables. If I was using “raw sql” I could just use String.Format() to change the table name. (Likewise for updates etc) The two separate tables are needed as the data access patterns are very different for the common queries on the two tables and therefore different indexes are needed. “Views” and “instead of triggers” etc to make the tables look like a single table are not liked here. A lot of our customers use low end version of SqlServer so we cannot use partition tables.

• MPI_Bsend and MPI_Isend. How do they work ?

  Hi, using buffered send and non blocking send I was wondering how and if they implement a new level of parallelism in my application eventually generating a thread. Imagine that a slave process generates a large amount of data and want to send it to the master. My idea was to start a buffered or non blocking send then immediately begin to compute the next result. Just when I would have to send the new data I wold check if I can reuse the buffer. This would introduce a new level of parallelism in my application between CPU and communication. Does anybody knows how this is done in MPI ? Does MPI generate a new thread to handle the Bsend or Isend ? Thanks.

• C# Same DataSource + Multiple DataGridViews = Data Binding Issues?

  Here's what I'm doing: I have (2) DataGridView controls DGV #1 is bound to the DataSet, DGV #2 is bound to a DataView of the SAME DataSet Now, what I'm needing to accomplish here is this: When a user checks a boolean column on the original DGV, the second DGV should now display the newly checked row also. The context is that the first DGV is a master list, and the second one is a "favorite" view of the first. When I check the rows, the favorite column does NOT update. Do I need to use a DataAdapter to actually update the database, or can I operate directly on the DataSet (DataTable) -- or even with the Rows in the original DataGridView?

  Hi everyone, I use git for my local work (and love it ever so much), and I follow a workflow similar to the one described in this article. So basically, when starting on a new feature, I create a branch for it, go through the usual hack then commit cycle, and when I think I'm done with it, I squash it into a single commit using git rebase --interactive master, and these squashed commit messages always end up looking like the example in the article, reproduced here: [#3275] User Can Add A Comment To a Post * Adding Comment model, migrations, spec * Adding Comment controller, helper, spec * Adding Comment relationship with Post * Comment belongs to a User * Comment form on Post show page Of course, that's after a bunch of removing # This is the xth commit message lines and copy/pasting * in front of each commit message.   I have two List of Objects (one is master list and other is error list) and if there is a match of one value when compared two lists then merge all other error list values into mast list value (only one object). Other than iterating is there any other way to compare a value and then merge that object. Object is a Value object with some setters and getters. Appreciate your help. • Domain Redirection While Maintaining Original URL

  I have two domains ("this_site.com" and "that_site.com") that I want to point to the same place (same set of files). BUT What I really want to do is maintain the original URL in the address bar while the visitor accesses the different pages. Example: The primary domain holding the web files is "this_site.com". If I type in "that_site.com" in the address bar, I want the address bar to keep displaying "that_site.com" no matter where they go on the web site. Normal domain redirection causes the URL displayed in the address bar to change to the 'master' domain (i.e. the visitor that typed in "that_site.com" will see the address bar's URL change to "this_site.com"). Is there some sort of .htaccess trick that I can employ to do this? What I'm trying to do is NOT confuse visitors who visit one URL and find themselves on a different URL as well as avoid the additional expense and trouble of having to maintain two separate hosting accounts.

I want to query the table in chunks and process each chunk in 10 threads. Each thread basically will send the data to an individual node on a 10 node cluster on the cloud..   Hi I would like to list tags like it's listed by: # git branch -v * devel e7f5e36 firxed bugs master 63e9c56 remove unused code without the * (you can't checkout tag). It would be good to have an option to list full or short SHA1. A bash script is also fine, but it would be nice to use git commands more and shell scripting less. I've read this question Git - how to tell which commit a tag points to and it helped me, but it's not all I want. Edit: I didn't know that annotated tags had SHA1. I wanted SHA1 of commits that tag points to, not the tags themselfs.

The problem is (i think) that most of them, do not apply in asp pages. So the question is how can i place the footer with pure CSS in Asp pages? • Run a proc on several different values of one parameter

  I have the following query that gets run within a proc. The function MyFunction returns a table, and this query joins on that table. This proc works great when a @MyArg value is supplied. However, I’m wondering if there’s a way to run this on all @MyArg values in the database. I’m sure there’s a way to do it within a loop, but I know that loops are generally to be avoided at the db layer. I really just need to perform this for the sake of checking (and possibly cleansing) some bad data. • How do I make a TCP connection between 2 servers if both can start the connection ?

  I have a defined number of servers that can locally process data in their own way. But after some time I want to synchronize some states that are common on each server. My idea was that establish a TCP connection from each server to the other servers like a mesh network. My problem is that in what order do I make the connections since there is no "master" server here, so that each server is responsible for creating there own connections to each server. My idea was that make each server connect and if the server that is getting connected already has a connection to the connecting server, then just drop the connection. But how do I handle the fact that 2 servers is trying to connect at the same time? Because then I get 2 TCP connections instead of 1. Any ideas?

• link_to syntax with rails3 (link_to_remote) and basic javascript not working in a rails3 app?

  i am wondering if the basic link_to syntax is completely broken in current rails3 master or if i am doing some wrong syntax here. = link_to "name", nil, :onlick => "alert('Hello world!');" should actually produce an alert on click. very simple. does not work on my rails3 project! (also no error output!) any ideas? for the general link_to syntax i could not find an example where i could combine a link_to_remote with a confirmation, remote and html class (see my try below) = link_to "delete", {:action => "destroy", :remote => true, :method => :delete, :confirm => "#{a.title} wirklich L&ouml;schen?" }, :class => "trash" even the rails3 api does not help me here: http://rails3api.s3.amazonaws.com/index.html help!

  Instructions from ruhoh.com state to setup a repository USERNAME.ruhoh.com, which has been done. https://github.com/NredYssuts/nredyssuts.ruhoh.com also asks to add a web hook, which has also been done. Then it gives the following instructions to execute: $ git clone git://github.com/ruhoh/blog.git USERNAME.ruhoh.com $ cd USERNAME.ruhoh.com $ git remote set-url origin [email protected]:USERNAME/USERNAME.ruhoh.com.git $ git push origin master I am able to execute the first three lines and then on the fourth I am asked to enter my passphrase for /home/nredyssuts/.ssh/id_rsa I do that correctly and then bam! ERROR: Repository not found. fatal: the remote end hung up unexpectedly I'm not sure why this is happening at all. This is a public repository.

• MySQL is there a Single Select to Query Various Unrelated Values from a database?

  I saw somewhere what seemed to be nested selects, one "master" select on the "outside" and a series of selects inside- is this possible? I'm not talking about joins as there is particular relation between the selects. I seem not to be explaining myself very well. I want to do a single query which will pull out a series of stats from various tables latest order, latest customer, largest order. Obviously I can do that with a series of selects. The example I saw was something like select ( select ... from tbl_1 where .., select ... from tbl_2 where .., select ... from tbl_3 where .., ... )

• How to restore files that were removed by git?

  I am a git noob and git just deleted a bunch of important files. How do I get them back? I have a repo on my local machine. To get into git, I just right click my project folder and select "git bash here". This brings up the master where I do all my giting. So I had some changes to stage and I did: git add . This staged a bunch of changes. I noticed that I didn't want some of these staged so I decided that I'd try to unstage everthing. I did this: git reset --hard HEAD^ This basically deleted a bunch of files that I had made on the last commit and jumped to the commit before. How do I get those files back? If I can't do it through git is there another way?

  I want to extend a session time so that a session variable does not expire until after 12 hours. Problem is that after 24 minutes (default time for a session until it expires) of inactivity it still expires the session and hence gives me undefined indexes for those SESSION variables. I've seen similar such applications which work with MBR & partitioning. I'm curious. How do they read clusters/cylinders/sectors from the disk? Is it again OS dependent? If so whats the way to for Linux & for windows?

• Error occurs while using SPADE method in R

  I'm currently mining sequence patterns using SPADE algorithm in R. SPADE is included in "arulesSequence" package of R. I'm running R on my CentOS 6.3 64bit. For an exercise, I've tried an example presented in http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Data_Mining_Algorithms_In_R/Sequence_Mining/SPADE When I tried to do "cspade(x, parameter = list(support = 0.4), control = list(verbose = TRUE))" R says: parameter specification: support : 0.4 maxsize : 10 maxlen : 10 algorithmic control: bfstype : FALSE verbose : TRUE summary : FALSE preprocessing ... 1 partition(s), 0 MB [0.096s] mining transactions ... 0 MB [0.066s] reading sequences ...Error in asMethod(object) : 's' is not an integer vector When I try to run SPADE on my Window 7 32bit, it runs well without any error. Does anybody know why such errors occur?
