  HTTP status code 301 is used to indicate that content has moved permanently, and that the returned URL should be used to access the requested content in future. RFC 2616 says Clients with link editing capabilities ought to automatically re-link references to the request-URI to one or more of the new references returned by the server, where possible. Do any browsers actually implement this and change a bookmark's URL?

• Sharepoint 2010 moving site collection to different database error

  I am trying to move a site collection from one content database to another content database. First I used the following PowerShell command: New-SPContentDatabase -Name New_DB -WebApplication http://portal/ I confirmed that this did in fact create the DB in the SQL Server. I then used the following command: Move-SPSite http://portal/sites/hr -DestinationDatabase New_DB This generates an error stating that the "Operation is not valid due to the current state of the object" Can anyone help point me in the right direction with this? • Nagios plugin script not working as expected

  I have modified an off-the-shelf Nagios plugin perl script to (in theory) return a one or zero according to the existence, or not, of a file on a remote linux server. The script runs a remote ssh session and logs in as the nagios user. The remote linux servers have private keys setup for that user, and on the bash command line the script works as expected, but when run as a plugin it always returns '1' (true) even if the file does not exist. Some help with the logic or a comment on why things are not working as expected within Nagios would be appreciated. I'd prefer to use this ssh login method rather than having to install nrpe on all the linux servers.   We are setting up a SharePoint 2010 site. Don't worry, this is not a Sharepoint question, just adding it for context. Most of the site will be anonymous, but some users are able to authenticate in and edit content. They use NTLM (users exist in AD). Is there any concern about exposing NTLM login for users that can modify content over the internet via http or should that only be exposed via https?

• Telerik RadEditor filestream/string save to RTF

  Hi, The required functionality I am aiming for is to pull out RTF content from a database, edit it through a web interface (with a WYSIWYG editor) and then place the modified text back in to the database (in RTF format). The control that I am using to do this is Telerik RadEditor (we have a license already for these controls). In the most recent version there appears to be functionality to load in RTF content from a string or a stream, but the only method I can see that is exposed for getting RTF back out is exportToRTF(); this method modified the headers and allows you to save a RTF version of the content you have just edited as a file. The functionality to convert from HTML to RTF must exist somewhere within their library as you can export a RTF file, but I can not find any publicly exposed methods to pass this in to a stream or a string. Does anybody know of a way that I can convert the HTML back to RTF using the Telerik libraries without saving out to a file? Thanks

• Why can't I reinstall MySQL?

  I've been looking all around the Internet for an answer but didn't find anything. I hope you can help me now. I have a server with MySQL. From one day to another, MySQL didn't let me enter with my root password anymore (accsess denied for user 'root'@'localhost' using password: 'YES'). So I tried two ways to reset the password: No.1: I typed: shell> /etc/init.d/mysqld stop To stop MySQL. Then I restarted it skipping the grant-tables: shell> mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables So I was able to log in as root and change the password using: mysql> UPDATE mysql.user SET Password = PASSWORD('MyNewPassword') WHERE User = 'root'; FLUSH PRIVILEGES; I restarted MySQL and tried to log in as root with my new password - didn't work. So I tried the solution that's described here: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions.html (I don't want to post it here because this post is already pretty long). Didn't work either. Actually it made it worse, because since that day, every time I try to start MySQL, it doesn't even ask me for my password, but I get: shell> ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111) Well, I've looked up what it means and found that my mysqld.sock is missing. I tried to create it using touch but MySQL can't start with that socket.   Hi there, I have an ASP.Net MVC app, and i have some xsl files inside of the Content directory. I've try a few methods to get directory dynamically buy keep on coming short. So how do i get the directory to point to the Content/xsl folder? the closest that i came to was with this: this.GetType().Assembly.CodeBase which only returns the project DLL, but i can't figure out how to move up a few levels from there or what .net library to use to navigate around the path. there's no ../.. :( Basically i want to navigate to the Content/xsl folder which is at the same level of the Bin directory. Any idea? thanks.

  I have content on subdomain1.mydomain.com which can't reside on mydomain.com/subdomain1. Nevertheless, all my other content resides in folders of the mydomain.com/subdomain* type. For the sake of consistency, I'd like the content actually located at subdomain1.mydomain.com to appear as if it were on mydomain.com/subdomain1 — Is there any way, using .htaccess, that I can achieve this, bearing in mind that: (1) the subdomain itself also has a nested permalink structure, meaning that there are additional folders in the directory structure of the subdomain; (2) I want the browser to display the address as mydomain/subdomain1 after the redirect.

  In this blog I will share a technique I used to intercept TFS Web Services calls. This technique is a very invasive one and requires you to overwrite default TFS Web Services behavior. I only recommend taking such an approach when other means of TFS extensibility fail to provide the same functionality (this is not a supported TFS extensibility point). For instance, intercepting and aborting a Work Item change operation could be implemented using this approach (consider TFS Subscribers functionality before taking this approach, check Martin’s post about subscribers). So let’s get started. The technique consists in versioning TFS Web Services .asmx service classes. If you look into TFS’s ASMX services you will notice that versioning is supported by creating a class hierarchy between different product versions. For instance, let’s take the Work Item management service .asmx. • Multiple calls with Simple Modal OSX Style Dialog

  I am using Simple Modal, the OSX style version. I have two calls to the modal and therefore two versions of content. When either of the buttons is clicked it selects only the first lot of content. There is nowhere to put a hook on the content like most modal windows as there is no javascript on the page to add parameters... only an external .js file which I don't want to touch for obvious reasons. • callback execution order in jQuery getJSON

  I'm trying to implement a iGoogle like dashboard interface using widgets that get their content from other sites using JSONP calls. The problem is that if the first widget that calls the "$.ajax" takes 8 seconds to get the content back, it seems that the callbacks of the other widgets will only be called after the callback of the first widget gets executed. For the user experience, it would be better if the widgets could be displayed as soon as they get the content back from the remote sites, and not wait for those that were scheduled before to complete. Is there a way I can do that?

• How to read STDIN into string variable until EOF in C?

  Hi, im getting "Bus Error" trying to read stdin into a char* variable. I just want to read whole stuff coming over stdin and put it first into a variable, then continue working on the variable. My Code is as follows: char* content; char* c; while( scanf( "%c", c)) { strcat( content, c); } fprintf( stdout, "Size: %d", strlen( content)); But somehow i always get "Bus error" returned by calling "cat test.txt | myapp", where "myapp" is the compiled code above. My question is how do i read stdin until EOF into a variable? As you see in the code, i just want to print the size of input coming over stdin, in this case it should be equal to the size of the file "test.txt". I thought just using scanf would be enough, maybe buffered way to read stdin?

• Firefox extension that overlays persistent iFrame?

  Is it possible to build a Firefox extension that displays a floating, persistent iFrame over the page content? I know it's possible to add iFrames using XUL. For instance, you can add an iFrame to a persistent sidebar. However, I want the iFrame to float over the page content, not cause the content to shrink. So far, my only option is to add the iFrame to the DOM, then use CSS "fixed" positioning to float the iFrame. The iFrame must also persist across page loads, exactly as the sidebar does. Adding an iFrame to the DOM, unfortunately, causes the iFrame to vanish when the browser renders a new page (e.g., after clicking a link). Any clues? Thanks!

• AJAX binds jquery events multiple times

  Hi... I have a masterpage setup, with a pageLoad in the topmost masterpage, which calls pageLoad2 for nested masterpages which calls pageLoad3 for content pages. In my content page I have a jquery click event and in my nested masterpage I have a web user control. Whenever I use the user control in the nested masterpage, it rebinds the click event in the content page (undoubtedly because the pageLoad3 is called again), but this makes the click event fire twice on a single click. The problem gets worse the higher up masterpages you go (eg. fires 3 times if user control from topmost masterpage is called). Can anyone tell me how to make sure it only binds the jquery events once?

  so googling around it appears that the general consensus is that embedding version numbers in REST URIs is a bad practice and a bad idea. even on SO there are strong proponents supporting this. e.g. Best practices for API versioning? My question is about how to accomplish the proposed solution of using the accept header / content negotiation in the django-rest-framework to accomplish this. It looks like content negotiation in the framework, http://django-rest-framework.org/api-guide/content-negotiation.html is already configured to automatically return intended values based on accepted MIME types. If I start using the Accept header for custom types, I'll lose this benefit of the framework. Is there a better way to accomplish this in the framework?

  Hi, Question - Is it possible to proxy a HTTPS request using HttpListener & HttpWebRequest? (or is it not possbile due to the encryption?) I have got a .NET proxy working by using HttpListener & HttpWebRequest using the approach here. I'm trying to extend this at the moment to listen for HTTPS too (refer this question) however I'm wondering if I'm trying to tackle something that is not possible...That is if this code works by listening for the HTTPS request (using HttpListener) and then copying headers & content across to a new HttpWebRequest, is this flawed as it may not be able to decrypt the request to get the content? But then normal proxy servers obviously can proxy HTTPS, so I guess perhaps it will work because it will just copy across the encrypted content?
