  Hello, is this possible to override .NET Framework error: Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine. ... <!-- Web.Config Configuration File --> <configuration> <system.web> <customErrors mode="Off"/> </system.web> </configuration> even if web.config (IIS7.5) is set to <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed"/> ? I'm asking because my default setting for IIS7 is <deployment retail="true" /> so no error is being showed and only adding additional error handling module to website will allow to see errors generated by this application and thats why I want to override this message to inform users about it. • Diagnosing PCI issues

  I'm upgrading a PC for a friend, and have run into a problem with upgrading the motherboard. I've been assembling custom PCs for the best part of a decade now, so I'm happy enough with the basics at the very least. The motherboard, CPU and graphics card were all updated at once - after this was done, the machine POSTs but the PCI wireless card, as well as the PCI-E graphics card, do not seem to be recognised at all by the system. No trace of them anywhere in the BIOS, or the POST output, or in Windows. I booted into Linux and ran an lspci which also showed up no sign of them. What is the best step to go about diagnosing this? Is it likely/feasible that the motherboard's PCI bus is just defective and it needs to be RMAed? Are there any other common gotchas that might cause these symptoms? For reference, the components in question are: CPU: Celeron E1400 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L Graphics card: TBC (a low end card from a couple of years ago; worked flawlessly before the mobo change) PCI WNIC: Edimax 7128G Thanks in advance for any help.

• Google Analytics custom variables and how are they recorded?

  I have been asked to add GA custom variable tracking to my company's website. The company website uses server side includes, so making modifications to the tracking code happens identically everywhere. Maintenance is therefore a headache. Also, GA takes about twenty-four hours for custom variables to start showing up in reports and that makes troubleshooting a headache. So if you have custom variables // visitor level tracking, id = 12345 _gaq.push(['_setCustomVar', 1, 'id', '12345', 1]); // page level tracking, email = [email protected] _gaq.push(['_setCustomVar', 1, 'email', '[email protected]', 1]); The marketing people want the following out of this: User visits site and we record a unique id for them. Whenever they return this id will be used in GA. User signs up for our newsletter on page X and we record their email address. Whenever they return this email address is used in GA. Now a big problem for me is that I don't use GA and the marketing people don't use custom variables. So we don't actually know how this will work. Do I want Page, Session or Visitor level tracking? What happens because the same GA code is used on every page? If they visit the email sign up form and we record the email address, but then they go somewhere else where email is nonexistent will the value get 'overwritten.' Sorry for the long question, but there are a lot of unknowns for a GA noob.

• nginx won't serve an error_page in a subdirectory of the document root

Here's a snippet of my nginx configuration: server { error_page 500 /errors/500.html; } When I cause a 500 in my application, Chrome just shows its default 500 page (Firefox and Safari show a blank page) rather than my custom error page. I know the file exists because I can visit http://server/errors/500.html and I see the page. I can also move the file to the document root and change the configuration to this: server { error_page 500 /500.html; } and nginx serves the page correctly, so it's doesn't seem like it's something else misconfigured on the server. I've also tried: server { error_page 500 $document_root/errors/500.html; } and: server { error_page 500 http://$http_host/errors/500.html; } and: server { error_page 500 /500.html; location = /500.html { root /path/to/errors/; } } with no luck. Is this expected behavior? Do error pages have to exist at the document root, or am I missing something obvious? Update 1: This also fails: server { error_page 500 /foo.html; } when foo.html does indeed exist in the document root. It almost seems like something else is overwriting my configuration, but this block is the only place anywhere in /etc/nginx/* that references the error_page directive. Is there any other place that could set nginx configuration?

• DomainDataSource DataPager with silverlight 3 DataGrid & .Net RIA Services

  I have a simple datagrid example with silverlight 3, and am populating it with the .NET ria services using a DomainDataSource along with a DataPager declaratively (nothing in the code-behind), and am experiencing this problem: The LoadSize is 30, and the Page size is 15, and when the page is loaded, the 1st and 2nd page appear correctly, but when I go beyond the 2nd page, nothing shows up in the grid. This used to work in the silverlight 3 beta with the Mix 2009 preview of .NET Ria services, and I've got a really simple example and have verified that the Service on the web project gets called to load a new batch, but the grid doesn't show any data. Can anyone shed any light as to why grid displays data only for the initial load of data and not subsequent batches from the pager? • How to populate Java (web) application with initial data using Spring/JPA/Hibernate

  I want to setup my database with initial data programmatically. I want to populate my database for development runs, not for testing runs (it's easy). The product is built on top of Spring and JPA/Hibernate. Developer checks out the project Developer runs command/script to setup database with initial data Developer starts application (server) and begins developing/testing then: Developer runs command/script to flush the database and set it up with new initial data because database structures or the initial data bundle were changed What I want is to setup my environment by required parts in order to call my DAOs and insert new objects into database. I do not want to create initial data sets in raw SQL, XML, take dumps of database or whatever. I want to programmatically create objects and persist them in database as I would in normal application logic. One way to accomplish this would be to start up my application normally and run a special servlet that does the initialization. But is that really the way to go? I would love to execute the initial data setup as Maven task and I don't know how to do that if I take the servlet approach. There is somewhat similar question. I took a quick glance at the suggested DBUnit and Unitils. But they seem to be heavily focused in setting up testing environments, which is not what I want here. DBUnit does initial data population, but only using xml/csv fixtures, which is not what I'm after here. Then, Maven has SQL plugin, but I don't want to handle raw SQL. Maven also has Hibernate plugin, but it seems to help only in Hibernate configuration and table schema creation (not in populating db with data). How to do this?

A brief overview: I'm a social scientist who uses R to analyse data for research publications. I don't currently produce R packages. My R code for a project typically includes a few thousand lines of code for data input, cleaning, manipulation, analyses, and output generation. Publications are typically written using LaTeX. With regards to version control there are many benefits which I have read about, yet they seem to be less relevant to the solo data analyst. Backup: I have a backup system already in place. Forking and rewinding: I've never felt the need to do this, but I can see how it could be useful (e.g., you are preparing multiple journal articles based on the same dataset; you are preparing a report that is updated monthly, etc) Collaboration: Most of the time I am analysing data myself, thus, I woudln't get the collaboration benefits of version control. There are also several potential costs involved with adopting version control: Time to evaluate and learn a version control system A possible increase in complexity over my current file management system However, I still have the feeling that I'm missing something. General guides on version control seem to be addressed more towards computer scientists than data analysts. Thus, specifically in relation to data analysts in circumstances similar to those listed above: Is version control worth the effort? What are the main pros and cons of adopting version control? What is a good strategy for getting started with version control for data analysis with R (e.g., examples, workflow ideas, software, links to guides)?

So, the error message I'm getting is: 'parameter type conflict'... the function "FC_RJS_INCLUIR_RELACAO_PRODCAT" it's a Java Stored Procedure too, it's already exported to Oracle, and returns an int variable, and i have to read this to decide which webservice i will call from this JavaSP. I have already tried the OracleTyep.NUMBER in the registerOutParameter. Anyone knows what i'm doing wrong?

  The application that I am working on has a generic Parent Form called RSChild, that is used to perform some operations depending on whether or not the control that is contained within it is in a MdiTabManager or inside of its own modal form. Then the actual User Controls contained within Inherit from a Interface Called ObjectEdit (Objects that we allow to be edited). At a point in my code I am doing this. So I have the whole If block repeated over and over. I tried doing castTabPageToRSChild(page)RSObject.GetType and using that in the DirectCast and I also tried creating another object that was separate from that and doing the same thing. My code works as intended I'm just trying to see if there is a manner in which I didn't have a lot of replicated code. My vision would be to do something like For Each page As XtraMdiTabPage In alikePages If id = DirectCast(castTabPageToRSchild(page).RSObject, TypeOfThatObject).Id Then Return True Next However I have a feeling this is not possible due to the behavior of DirectCast.

The system cannot find the file specified. If I open the Assembly that I am referencing in Reflector I can see its information is: Castle.MicroKernel, Version=1.0.3.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=407dd0808d44fbdc and that it definitely contains Castle.MicroKernel.Registration.IRegistration What could be going on? I should mention that the binaries are taken from the latest build of Castle though I have never worked with nant so I didn't bother re-compiling from source and just took the files in the bin directory. I should also point out that my project compiles with no problem.

• LINQ-to-SQL: Could not find key member 'x' of key 'x' on type 'y'

  I am trying to connect my application to a SQLite database with LINQ-to-SQL, and so far everything has worked fine. The only hitch was that the SQLite provider I am using does not support code generation (unless I was doing something wrong), so I manually coded the 4 tables in the DB. The solution builds properly, but will not run, giving me the error message Could not find key member 'ItemType_Id' of key 'ItemType_Id' on type 'Item'. The key may be wrong or the field or property on 'Item' has changed names. I have checked and double checked spellings and field names on the database and in the attribute mappings, but could not find any problems. The SQL for the table looks like this: CREATE TABLE [Items] ( [Id] integer PRIMARY KEY AUTOINCREMENT NOT NULL, [Name] text NOT NULL, [ItemType_Id] integer NOT NULL ); And my mapping code: [Table(Name="Items")] class Item { // [snip] [Column(Name = "Id", IsPrimaryKey=true, IsDbGenerated=true)] public int Id { get; set; } // [snip] [Column(Name="ItemType_Id")] public int ItemTypeId { get; set; } [Association(Storage = "_itemType", ThisKey = "ItemType_Id")] public ItemType ItemType { get { return _itemType.Entity; } set { _itemType.Entity = value; } } private EntityRef<ItemType> _itemType; // [snip] } This is really my first excursion into LINQ-to-SQL, and am learning as I go, but I cannot seem to get past this seeming simple problem. • UITouch Event Propagation To Background UIViews

  I'm having troubles getting any UIView that's not the foreground UIView to receive UITouch events. I'm building an all-Core Graphics-app, so I'm not using any built in UIViews or IB or anything - everything is programmatically constructed and drawn into. Here's my view hierarchy: Root View Type A Container Type A View Type A View Type A View Type B Container Type B View Type B View Type B View The containers are just vanilla UIView objects that I create programmatically and add instances of Type A and B to when they're created. I did this originally to make hitTesting easier—Type A objects can be drag-and-dropped onto Type B objects. Type A objects receive touch events fine, but Type B objects (which are contained by Type B Container which is behind Type A Container) don't receive touch events. Both containers occupy the entire screen; they're basically just convenience containers. If I pull Type B Container to the front (eg [self.view bringSubviewToFront:Type B Container]) it receives events properly, but then the Type A Container doesn't get events. How do I propagate events from the view that's on top? Both views occupy the entire screen, so it makes sense that the top-most view is catching the events, but how should I get it to pass those events on to Type B Container? I could inject some code in the container that passes the touch events back to the main ViewController which can pass them on to Type B Container but that feels really messy to me. Is there a nicer way to not have the Type A Container stop propagation? What's the best practice here?

  I have been using Windows 7 for a while but have not had to work with a particular legacy intranet application since my upgrade. Unfortunately, this application is setup as an ASP.NET Website project hosted on a remote server. When I have the website open in Visual Studio 2008 and try to debug it I get the following compiler error: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermission' failed To resolve this issue on Windows Vista machines, I would change the machine's .NET Security Configuration trust level to full for the local intranet (fix outlined here). I believe this configuration utility relied upon the mscorcfg.msc which from some cursory research appears to be apart of the .NET 2.0 SDK. I have tried to follow the instructions from this Microsoft Support article running the command below to no avail. • Double type returns -1.#IND/NaN error when calculating pi iteratively

  I am working through a problem for my MCTS certification. The program has to calculate pi until the user presses a key, at which point the thread is aborted, the result returned to the main thread and printed in the console. Simple enough, right? This exercise is really meant to be about threading, but I'm running into another problem. The procedure that calculates pi returns -1.#IND. I've read some of the material on the web about this error, but I'm still not sure how to fix it. When I change double to Decimal type, I unsurprisingly get Overflow Exception very quickly. • XML Schema Migration

  I am working on a project where we need to save data in an XML format. The problem is, over time we expect the format / schema for our data to change. What we want to be able to do is to produce scripts to migrate our data across different schema versions. We distribute our product to thousands of customers so we need to be able to run / apply these scripts at customer sites (so we can't just do the conversions by hand). I think that what we are looking for is some kind of XML data migration tool. In my mind the ideal tool could: Do an "XML diff" of two schema to identify added/deleted/changed nodes. Allow us to specify transformation functions. So, for example, we might add a new element to our schema that is a function of the old elements. (E.g. a new element C where C = A+B, A + B are old elements). So I think I am looking for a kind of XML diff and patch tool which can also apply transformation functions. One tool I am looking at for this is Altova's MapForce . I'm sure others here have had to deal with XML data format migration. How did you handle it? Edit: One point of clarification. The "diff" I plan to do is on the schema or .xsd files. The actual changes will be made to particular data sets that follow a given schema. These data sets will be .xml files. So its a "diff" of the schema to help figure out what changes need to be made to data sets to migrate them from one scheme to another.

  I am trying to populate a dropdown list from a database mapped with Linq 2 SQL, using ASP.NET MVC 2, and keep getting this error. I am so confused because I am declaring a variable with the type IEnumerable<SelectListItem> on the second line, but the error makes me think this is not the case. I feel like this should be very simple, but I am struggling. Any help is appreciated. • What does SQL Server's BACKUPIO wait type mean?

  I'm using Sql Server 2008 ("R1"), with some maintenance plans that back up my databases to a network share. Some of my backup jobs show long waits of type "BACKUPIO". Of course it seems like this is an I/O subsystem limitation, but I'm skeptical. Perfmon stats for I/O on the production (source) server are well within normal trends for that server. The destination server shows a sustained 7MB/s write rate, which seems incredibly low, even for a slow disk. The network link is gigabit ethernet and nowhere near saturated. The few docs I've turned up about BACKUPIO indicate that it's not specifically a wait on I/O, surprisingly enough. This MSFT doc says it's abnormal unless you're using a tape drive, which I'm not. But it doesn't say (or I don't understand) exactly what resource is missing. http://www.docstoc.com/docs/24580659/Performance-Tuning-in-SQL-Server-2005 And this piece says it's not related to I/O performance at all. http://www.informit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=686168&seqNum=5 "Note that BACKUPIO and IO_AUDIT_MUTEX are not related to IO performance." Anyway, does anyone know what BACKUPIO actually means and/or what I can do to diagnose or eliminate it?
