  • Object hierarchy returned by WCF Service is different than expected

    Good Day Everyone... My understanding may be wrong, but I thought once you applied the correct attributes the DataContractSerializer would render fully-qualified instances back to the caller. The code runs and the objects return. But oddly enough, once I look at the returned objects I noticed the namespacing disappeared and the object-hierarchy being exposed through the (web applications) service reference seems to become "flat" (somehow). Now, I expect this from a web-service…but not through WFC. Of course, my understanding of what WFC can do may be wrong. ...please keep in mind I'm still experimenting with all this. So my questions are… Q: Can I do something within the WFC Service to force the namespacing to render through the (service reference) data client proxy? Q: Or perhaps, am I (merely) consuming the service incorrectly? Q: Is this even possible?     I am writing a browser plugin for Mac OS that will place a status bar icon in the status bar, which users can use to interface with the browser plugin. I've successfully built a FireBreath 1.6 project in XCode 4.4.1, and can install it in the browser. However, FireBreath uses C++, whereas a large majority of the existing libraries for Mac OS are written in Objective C. In the /Mac/projectDef.make file, I added the Cocoa Framework and Foundation Framework, as suggested here and in other resources I've found on the Internet: target_link_libraries(${PROJECT_NAME} ${PLUGIN_INTERNAL_DEPS} ${Cocoa.framework} # added line ${Foundation.framework} # added line ) I reran prepmac.sh, expecting a new project to be created in XCode with my .mm files, and .m files; however, it seems that they're being ignored. I only see the .cpp and .h files. I added rules for those in the projectDef.make file, but it doesn't seem to make a difference: file (GLOB PLATFORM RELATIVE ${CMAKE_CURRENT_SOURCE_DIR} Mac/[^.]*.cpp Mac/[^.]*.h Mac/[^.]*.m #added by me Mac/[^.]*.mm #added by me Mac/[^.]*.cmake ) Even if I add the files in manually, I get a series of compilation errors. There are about 20 of them, all related to the file NSObjRuntime.h file: Parse Issue - Expected unqualified-id Parse Issue - Unknown type name 'NSString' Semantic Issue - Use of undeclared identifier 'NSString' Parse Issue - Unknown type name 'NSString' ... ... Semantic Issue - Use of undeclared identifier 'aSelectorName' ... ... Semantic Issue - Use of undeclared identifier 'aClassName' ... It continues like this for some time with similar errors... From what I've read, these errors appear because of dependencies on the Foundation Framework, which I believe I've included in the project. I also tried clicking the project in XCode I'm to the point now where I'm not sure what to try next. People say it's not hard to use Objective C in C/C++ code, but being new to XCode and Objective C might contribute to my confusion. This is only day 4 for me in this new platform. What do I need to do to get XCode to compile the Objective C code? Please remember that I'm a little new to this, so I'd appreciate it if you leave detailed answers as opposed to the vague one-liners that are common in the firebreath tag. I'm just a little in over my head, but if you can get me past this hurdle I'm certain I'll be good to go from there. UPDATE: I edited projects/MyPlugin/CMakeLists.txt and added in the .m and .mm rules there too. after running prepmac.sh, the files are included in the project, but I still get the same compile errors. I moved all the .h files and .mm files from the Obj C code to the MyPlugin root folder and reran the prepmac.sh file. Problem still exists. Same compile errors.

  • Drag and Drop in MVVM with ScatterView

    I'm trying to implement drag and drop functionality in a Surface Application that is built using the MVVM pattern. I'm struggling to come up with a means to implement this while adhering to the MVVM pattern. Though I'm trying to do this within a Surface Application I think the solution is general enough to apply to WPF as well. I'm trying to produce the following functionality: User contacts a FrameworkElement within a ScatterViewItem to begin a drag operation (a specific part of the ScatterViewItem initiates the drag/drop functionality) When the drag operation begins a copy of that ScatterViewItem is created and imposed upon the original ScatterViewItem, the copy is what the user will drag and ultimately drop The user can drop the item onto another ScatterViewItem (placed in a separate ScatterView) The overall interaction is quite similar to the ShoppingCart application provided in the Surface SDK, except that the source objects are contained within a ScatterView rather than a ListBox. I'm unsure how to proceeded in order to enable the proper communication between my ViewModels in order to provide this functionality. The main issue I've encountered is replicating the ScatterViewItem when the user contacts the FrameworkElement.

  • MSDeploy: error using runCommand provider to call remote .cmd file (timeout)

    We are running into an error when trying to use the MSDeploy "runCommand" provider to execute a .cmd file on a remote machine. The expected run time should be about 10 seconds, but MSDeploy only runs it for about 2-3 seconds, after which time error details are returned. Here is the complete MSDeploy "runCommand" command line text I am using: msdeploy.exe -verb:sync -source:runCommand="D:\web deploy tester\test_cmd.cmd",dontUseCommandExe=false,waitAttempts=5,waitInterval=1000 -dest:auto,computername=http://test-machine:89/MsDeployAgentService/,userName=aaa,password=bbb Here are the error details returned: Error 'Error: (4/21/2010 12:19:25 PM) An error occurred when the request was processed on the remote computer.   • new ActiveXObject('Word.Application') creates new winword.exe process when IE security does not allo

    We are using MS Word as a spell checker for a few fields on a private company web site, and when IE security settings are correct it works well. (Zone for the site set to Trusted, and trusted zone modified to allow control to run without prompting.) The script we are using creates a word object and closes it afterward. While the object exists, a winword.exe process runs, but it is destroyed when the word object is closed. If our site is not set in the trusted zone (Internet zone with default security level) the call that creates the word object fails as expected, but the winword.exe process is still created. I do not have any way to interact with this process in the script, so the process stays around until the user logs off (users have no way to manually destroy the process, and it wouldn't be a good solution even if they did.) The call that attempts to create the object is... try { oWordApplication = new ActiveXObject('Word.Application'); } catch(error) { // irrelevant code removed, described in comments.. // notify user spell check cannot be used // disable spell check option } So every time the page is loaded this code may be run again, creating yet another orphan winword.exe process. oWordApplication is, of course, undefined in the catch block. I would like to be able to detect the browser security settings beforehand, but I have done some searching on this and do not think that it is possible. Management here is happy with it as it is. As long as IE security is set correctly it works, and it works well for our purposes. (We may eventually look at other options for spell check functionality, but this was quick, inexpensive, and does everything we need it to do.) This last problem bugs me and I'd like to do something about it, but I'm out of ideas and I have other things that are more in need of my attention. Before I put it aside, I thought I'd ask for suggestions here...

  • Cannot connect to a SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services cube after installing SQL Server 2008 SP1.

    I've been developing an application that talks directly to an SSAS 2005 OLAP cube. Note that I also have SQL Server 2008 installed, so the other day I did a Windows Update and decided to include SQL Server 2008 SP1 in my update. After doing that, my SSAS 2005 cube is no longer accessible from my application. I'm able to browse the data just fine within SQL Server 2005 BI Studio Manager, but I'm not able to connect to the cube from my application.   • How to detect if a Surface Contact is over a ScatterView?

    This is a (kind of) similar situation as in the SDK Sample Shopping Cart for MS Surface. I have an application with two ScatterViews. The first covers the complete Surface window ('surface'). The second resides in a TagVisualization object ('pod'). There might be more than one pod available (if more than one tag is down on the table). I would like to be able to drag a ScatterViewItem from the 'pod' to the 'surface' or another 'pod'. I have no problems in detecting if a ScatterViewItem is leaving its ScatterView parent. Also, no problems in reparenting the ScatterViewItem. However, I want to detect which ScatterView the item is being dragged on. In the SDK Sample they have used a visual element (an ellipse in this case) which is below the ScatterViews. VisualTreeHelper.HitTest is used to determine if the contact is over the ellipse. If so, the 'connected' ScatterView is found. I don't think this is a very elegant solution. I wouldn't want a visual element put in there, just to detect if a contact is over a ScatterView. Are there betterwways to accomplish this kind of 'hittesting'? Thanks, Bart

    Hi. I am attempting to import a Certificate into the Current User - Personal store using the command line: "importpfx -f [certificate name.p12] -p [password] -t USER -s Personal". It works, but for reasons I don't understand there are now two Personal stores under the Current User, and the imported certificate is in the new Personal store. When I try to connect to the website of [a well-known money transfer service], it fails. However, if I manually import the certificate using MMC into the original Personal store, it works. My question is: How can I force IMPORTPFX to import the certificate into the original Personal store, and how can I delete the new Personal store? Context: I need to do a silent import of certificates on 3000+ remote point-of-sale Windows XP devices, so it needs to be a silent install via PSEXEC (SysInternals). Thank you. Pieter.

    This is an age old problem of interactive elements inside interactive elements, but I want a ScatterViewItem to contain other surface interactive elements such as a SurfaceButton or SurfaceCheckBox. I've got all my elements in there and they react to taps etc. The problem is that I only get the normal ScatterView behavior once I click on an area that does not contain a control. Is there an elegant solution to allow dragging even when the contact is on a SurfaceButton or SurfaceCheckbox? e.g. <s:ScatterView > <Grid Width="200" Height="200"> <s:SurfaceButton /> </Grid> </s:ScatterView>

So I try this...
