• measuring uncertainty in matlabs svmclassify

  I'm doing contextual object recognition and I need a prior for my observations. e.g. this space was labeled "dog", what's the probability that it was labeled correctly? Do you know if matlabs svmclassify has an argument to return this level of certainty with it's classification? If not, matlabs svm has the following structures in it: SVM = SupportVectors: [11x124 single] Alpha: [11x1 double] Bias: 0.0915 KernelFunction: @linear_kernel KernelFunctionArgs: {} GroupNames: {11x1 cell} SupportVectorIndices: [11x1 double] ScaleData: [1x1 struct] FigureHandles: [] Can you think of any ways to compute a good measure of uncertainty from these? (Which support vector to use?) Papers/articles explaining uncertainty in SVMs welcome. More in depth explanations of matlabs SVM are also welcome. If you can't do it this way, can you think of any other libraries with SVMs that have this measure of uncertainty?

If I insert a space it seems that word wrap works, but I guess I want character wrap. Any ideas? I do not want a horizontal scrollbar.

I have kept some dummy image in the cell at image place and remaining space ion cell is with some labels and buttons. I need the image preview of the video with play symbol on it. How can I make this ? Should I use any photoshop type of things or any programable things. I do not know photoshop. Thank You.

  Hi, I am using Visual Studio 2010 for an MVC website project. I have an big problem and dont know hot to solve it. When i am looking to the output of html in firebug indents in my aspx and ascx files are outputed as space in same places. I think its about line ending of files but i am not sure how to fix them. I am adding some pictures about problem. When i am adding a breakpoint it also add red background to spaces (this is problem) I try to delete spaces after hit ctrl+k d same problem happen. If i delete all indents make page 1 line without spaces output is fine but it not a solution.

My concern is that the quality of the retrieved image is not up to the expectation. Is there a way to have better conversion to byte array and retrieving? I am not worried about the space conception. • Undocumented feature of Dictionary?

  Dictionary<string, int> testdic = new Dictionary<string, int>(); testdic.Add("cat", 1); testdic.Add("dog", 2); testdic.Add("rat", 3); testdic.Remove("cat"); testdic.Add("bob", 4); Fill the dictionary and then remove the first element. Then add a new element. Bob then appears at position 1 instead of at the end, therefore it seems to remember removed entries and re-uses that memory space? Is this documented anywhere because I can't see it on MSDN and has caused me a day of grief because I assumed it would just keep adding to the end.

• efficient video format/codec for sparse & binary blob tracking

  I am working on a blob tracking project and have many high-definition videos that I would like to reduce in size for storage and downstream tracking/shape-analysis. I want to use a lossless method that takes advantage of the black and white nature of the video as well as the fact that not much is moving between individual frames. The videos are quite sparse, with 5 to 10 b&w blobs per frame occupying <30% of the space in total, with each blob moving <5-10% of the field of view between frames and not changing shape too much between 2-3 frames. I will work in Python, Matlab, or LabView for this project, and could use a batch utility if available. It may be worthwhile to export the files as compressed image stacks if a proper video format can't be found. What are the pros and cons of this? A video codec uses correlations between neighboring frames, so it should be more efficient, but not if the wrong one is chosen or if it is improperly configured.

  I made a small backup application that simply creates an archive out specified files and folders. Now I need an online service to backup that online. Which service can i use that can be integrated into my app ? Options I considered: dropbox is ideal, but they have all but abandoned the desktop. skydrive has no api. I couldn't find any free reliable backup service that uses ftp . anything else ? it should provide 1-2 gb of free space and be reasonably reliable.   I have lines in a file which look like the following ....... DisplayName="john" .......... where .... represents variable number of other fields. Using the following grep command, I am able to extract all the lines which have a valid 'DisplayName' field grep DisplayName="[0-9A-Za-z[:space:]]*" e:\test However, I wish to extract just the name (ie "john") from each line instead of the whole line which is returned by grep. I tried pipelining the output to the cut command but it does not accept string delimiters.

• Why are my margins still collapsing?

  My code in this "Fiddle" shows that I have adjacent elements which vertical margins are collapsing on one another. I understand that due to the nature of vertical margins in css, the largest of the two is chosen, In my case the p tag. What I am having trouble with is trying to break the margins by using a 1px border or 1px padding. I've seen it work with other workarounds such as position:absolute or float method. I am not understanding why using 1px border or padding is not working properly to give me 15px of space.

  I just took my first baby step today into real scientific computing today when I was shown a data set where the smallest file is 48000 fields by 1600 rows (haplotypes for several people, for chromosome 22). And this is considered tiny. I write Python, so I've spent the last few hours reading about HDF5, and Numpy, and PyTable, but I still feel like I'm not really grokking what a terabyte-sized data set actually means for me as a programmer. For example, someone pointed out that with larger data sets, it becomes impossible to read the whole thing into memory, not because the machine has insufficient RAM, but because the architecture has insufficient address space! It blew my mind. What other assumptions have I been relying in the classroom that just don't work with input this big? What kinds of things do I need to start doing or thinking about differently? (This doesn't have to be Python specific.)

• Getting normal information from OpenGL render output

  I'll try to keep this simple. I want a way to access the normal information of the scene, from the Frame Buffer output (or similar). The same way one is able to access the Depth Buffer using glGetTexImage and GL_DEPTH_COMPONENT. I know I could set up a fragment shader which outputs the normal information in RGB color space, which could in turn be read from the rendered image. I'm wondering however if there is a way to do this within the openGL API. I'll clarify anything upon request as best as I can, Thank you

It works great but the problem is, it seems to put a lot of white space after each checkbox ID.   I want to make a textbook where it starts out as a given width/height. Then if users type more then the given amount of space, the textbox expands downward. How do I go about doing this? • Ruby methods within Javascript within HAML

  I have a jQuery script that adds a new field to a form, and this field contains dynamic information from an array. The problem is that I can't figure out how to add an array.each to populate the options of the select field within the javascript without breaking the HAML indentation and causing errors.   I have a table with slanted text in the header row, the only problem is that the text still makes the width of the columns way to large. Is there any way to squish together the table columns so that they are about the width of the select boxes? Or is there a way to place the text there without it in the header and maybe just use a <div> or <p>? • Representing a Gameworld that is Irregularly shaped

  I am working on a project where the game world is irregularly shaped (Think of the shape of a lake). this shape has a grid with coordinates placed over it. The game world is only on the inside of the shape. (Once again, think Lake) How can I efficiently represent the game world? I know that many worlds are basically square, and work well in a 2 or 3 dimension array. I feel like if I use an array that is square, then I am basically wasting space, and increasing the amount of time that I need to iterate through the array. However, I am not sure how a jagged array would work here either. Example shape of gameworld X XX XX X XX XXX XXX XXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXX XX XX X X Edit: The game world will most likely need each valid location stepped through. So I would a method that makes it easy to do so.

• In silverlight how do you scrub a string

  I have a string that looks like this " Into" and I can't figure out what the " " value is just before the Into. It's not a space, it's not an enter. At least i don't think so. I've tried doing a replace to get rid of it.. So now i'm just trying to figure out what that character value is. Convert.int32 doesn't get it done... What can i use to get rid of that character... I guess i could write a function that would loop through the alphabet and do it that way.. but figured there was a better way. thanks shannon

• BeautifulSoup Parser Confusion - HTML

  I'm trying to scrape some content off another site and I'm not sure why BeautifulSoup is producing this output. It is only finding a blank space inside the match, but the real HTML contains a large amount of markup. I apologize if this is something stupid on my part. I'm new to python. • Are there SqlExceptions which throw but commit their data anyway?

  I've recently encountered the error: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: The transaction log for database 'mydatabase' is full. To find out why space in the log cannot be reused, see the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases on one of my windows services. It's supposed to retry after catching an Sql Exception, what I didn't expect was that it seemed like the data was still going through (I'm using an SqlBulkCopy btw) regardless of it throwing an exception. I've never encountered this scenario before. I'd like to know if there are other scenarios where such a thing like this might happen, and if this thing is entirely possible at all in the first place? PS. If anyone knows the error code to the above exception, that would help a great deal as well.

• How can I print N array elements with delimiters per line?

  I have an array in Perl I want to print with space delimiters between each element, except every 10th element which should be newline delimited. There aren't any spaces in the elements if that matters. I've written a function to do it with for and a counter, but I wondered if there's a better/shorter/canonical Perl way, perhaps a special join syntax or similar.
