  • Asp.net override Membership settings at runtime (asp.net mvc)

    I had an application that hooked onto 1 single database. The app now needs to hook into multiple databases. What we want to do is, using the same application/domain/hostname/virtual dir give the user the option on the login screen to select the "App/Database" they want to connect into. Each database has the App tables/data/procs/etc as well as the aspnet membership/roles stuff. When the user enters the username/password and selects (select list) the application, I want to validate the user against the selected applications database. Presently the database connection string for membership services is saved in the web.config. Is there any way I can override this at login time? Also, I need the "remember me" function to work smoothly as well. How does this work when the user comes back to the app in 5 hours... This process should be able to identify the user and application and log in appropriately.

  • Oracle Linked Server error: ORA-12640: Authentication adapter initialization failed

    I have a linked server on SQL Server that talks to Oracle. Executing the following sql statement using Openquery SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY(finance, 'select * from KFRI.VW_XREF_PROJECTS') will get error as the following: OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "finance" returned message "ORA-12640: Authentication adapter initialization failed". Msg 7303, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "OraOLEDB.Oracle" for linked server "finance". I tried to set : SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NONE) in {$ORACLE_HOME}\NETWORK\ADMIN\sqlnet.ora. It did not help. What's interesting is my coworker is able to execute the exactly same query successfully on his machine without a hitch. Any tips on how to fix this is greatly appreciated!!

    Hi, I have a database table which is full-text indexed and i use the CONTAINS-function to perform a search-query on it. When I do: SELECT * FROM Plants WHERE CONTAINS(Plants.Description, '"Plant*" AND "one*"'); I get back all correct results matching a description with the words "Plant" and "one". Some plant are named like "Plant 1", "Plant 2" etc. and this is the problem. When i do this, i get no results: SELECT * FROM Plants WHERE CONTAINS(Plants.Description, '"Plant*" AND "1*"'); Anyone know why?

  • How can I make VS2010 behave like VS2008 w/r/t indentation?

    Situation I have a plain text file where indentation is important. line 1 line 1.1 (indented two spaces) line 1.2 (indented two spaces) line 1.2.3 (indented four spaces) In Visual Studio 2008, when I pressed enter, the next line would also be indented four spaces. However, in Visual Studio 2010, when I press enter, the next line is indented one tab. Question Does anybody know where, in the mountain of preferences under Tools Options, I can return to the way that Visual Studio 2008 worked? Under Options Text Editor Plain Text Tabs, I see the following: If I select "None", then I get no indentation when I move to the next line. If I select "Block", then I get TAB indentation (even though the previous line is spaces). In Visual Studio 2008, my indentation is set to "Block", and I get spaces. I have no idea what "Smart" indenting is, or why it is disabled.

  • SSIS - Wizard vs manual vs programming

    I'd like to move 26 tables from one DB to another. I see I can do this in the SSIS Import and Export Wizard. I believe the other approach would be to select tools from the toolbar in Data Flow and then configure them all. When is it better to use the wizard and when is it best to create the package manually (with the visual tools) or programmatically? One thing I noticed with the Wizard is that it lets me select multiple tables at once, but I could not find a way to get back to that screen once the package is created, so that I could edit the various tables all in one place.

  • Defaultifempty seems to work in linq to entities

    I'm new to linq and linq to entities so I might have gone wrong in my assumptions, but I've been unknowingly trying to use DefaultIfEmpty in L2E. For some reason if I turn the resultset into a List, the Defaultifempty() works I don't know if I've inadvertantly crossed over into Linq area. The code below works, can anyone tell me why?     hi all, i want to format date to string in hql select, for example i have purchasing data with transaction date in it: class Purchase { private Date datePurchase } and i want to select date in a certain format, for example yyyyMMdd, can i do that in hql? actually i can iterate through all purchase data returned by query, and start to format the date using SimpleDateFormat, but i don't want do that, i want to do it in hql, is it posible? fyi, i just want to return the id and date string only, not all Purchase field. thak you all for any help.

The trick here is that I do not know ahead of time how many values there will be in the IN(). Obviously I know I can generate the query on the go with string manipulations, however since this will run in a loop, I was wondering if I could do it with a PDO PreparedStatement. Something like: $query = $PDO->prepare('SELECT * FROM someTable WHERE someId IN (:idList)'); $query->bindValue(':idList', implode(',', $idArray)); Is that possible?

    I'd like to implement MVC while using LINQ (specifically, LINQ-to-entities). The way I would do this is have the Controller generate (or call something which generates) the result-set using LINQ, then return that to the View to display the data. The problem is, if I do: return (from o in myTable select o); All the columns are read from the database, even the ones (potentially dozens) I don't want. And - more importantly - I can't do something like this: return (from o in myTable select new { o.column }); because there is no way to make anonymous types type-safe! I know for sure there is no nice, clean way of doing this in 3.5 (this is not clean...), but what about 4.0? Is there anything planned, or even proposed? Without something like duck-typing-for-LINQ, or type-safe anonymous return values (it seems to me the compiler should certainly be capable of that), it appears to be nearly impossible to cleanly separate the Controller from the View.

    I'm wishing I could do something like the following in SQl Server 2005 (which I know isnt valid) for my where clause. Sometimes @teamID (passed into a stored procedure) will be the value of an existing teamID, otherwise it will always be zero and I want all rows from the Team table. I researched using Case and the operator needs to come before or after the entire statement which prevents me from having a different operator based on the value of @teamid.     I'm working on a Google Chrome Extension and would like to get an HTML from within my popup HTML to call functions within my loaded javascript file. My popup document looks like this: <select id="values"> <option>Foo</option> <option>Bar</option> </select> And the contents of my scripts.js file follow: $(function(){ $("#values").change(function(){ alert("Foo"); }); }); This isn't doing what I expect though - alerting "Foo" anytime I change a value in my popup HTML. How can I get these two files to communicate with eachother? Or can they at all?

  • Using normalize-string XPath function from SQL XML query ?

    Hi, is it possible to run an SQL query, with an XPath "where" clause, and to trim trailing spaces before the comparison ? I have an SQL XML column, in which I have XML nodes with attributes which contain trailing spaces. I would like to find a given record, which has a specified attribute value - without the trailing spaces. When I try, I get... "There is no function '{http://www.w3.org/2004/07/xpath-functions}:normalize-space()'" I have tried the following (query 1 works, query 2 doesn't).     I'm using this library: jsinq. I want to create a new object using subqueries. For example, in .NET LINQ, I could do something like this: from a in Attendances where a.SomeProperty = SomeValue select new { .Property1 = a.Property1, .Property2 = a.Property2, .Property3 = (from p in People where p.SomeProperty = a.Property3 select p) } such that I get a list of ALL people where Property3 value matches the attendance's Property3 value in EACH object returned in the list. I didn't see any sample of this in the docs or on the playground. Made a couple tries of it and didn't have any luck. Anybody know if this is possible and how to?

  • How to create a UDF that takes a query string and returns the query's resultset

    I want to create a stored procedure that takes a simple SELECT statement and return the resultset as a CSV string. So the basic idea is get the sql statement from user input, run it using EXEC(@stmt) and convert the resultset to text using cursors. However, as SQLServer doesn't allow: select * from storedprocedure(@sqlStmt) UDF with EXEC(@sqlStmt) so I tried Insert into #tempTable EXEC(@sqlStmt), but this doesn't work (error = "invalid object name #tempTable"). I'm stuck. Could you please shed some light on this matter? Many thanks EDIT: Actually the output (e.g CSV string) is not important. The problem is I don't know how to assign a cursor to the resultset returned by EXEC. SP and UDF do not work with Exec() while creating a temp table before inserting values is impossible without knowing the input statement. I thought of OPENQUERY but it does not accept variables as its parameters.
