  • Correct way to get absolute url in django

    - by dreamiurg
A problem that I stumbled upon recently, and, even though I solved it, I would like to hear your opinion of what correct/simple/adopted solution would be. I'm developing website using Django + python. When I run it on local machine with "python manage.py runserver", local address is http://127.0.0.1:8000/ by default. However, on production server my app has other url, with path - like "http://server.name/myproj/" I need to generate and use permanent urls. If I'm using {% url view params %}, I'm getting paths that are relative to / , since my urls.py contains this urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^(\d+)?$', 'myproj.myapp.views.index'), (r'^img/(.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT + '/img' }), (r'^css/(.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT + '/css' }), ) So far, I see 2 solutions: modify urls.py, include '/myproj/' in case of production run use request.build_absolute_uri() for creating link in views.py or pass some variable with 'hostname:port/path' in templates Are there prettier ways to deal with this problem? Thank you.

  • [JavaScript] Global variables across multiple files

    - by Goro
Hello, A bunch of my JavaScript code is in an external file called helpers.js. Inside the HTML that calls this JavaScript code I find myself in need of knowing if a certain function from helpers.js has been called. I have attempted to create a global variable by defining: var myFunctionTag = true; In global scope both in my HTML code and in helpers.js. Heres what my html code looks like: <html> ... <script type='text/javascript' src='js/helpers.js'></script> ... <script> var myFunctionTag = false; ... //I try to use myFunctionTag here but it is always false, even though it has been se t to 'true' in helpers.js </script> Is what I am trying to do even doable? Thanks,

  • How to execute T-SQL for several databases whose names are stored in a table

    - by emzero
Hey guys, so here's the deal. I have several databases (SqlServer 2005) on the same server with the same schema but different data. I have one extra database which has one table storing the names of the mentioned databases. So what I need to do is to iterate over those databases name and actually "switch" to each one (use [dbname]) and execute a T-SQL script. Am I clear? Let me give you an example (simplified from the real one): CREATE TABLE DatabaseNames ( Id int, Name varchar(50) ) INSERT INTO DatabaseNames SELECT 'DatabaseA' INSERT INTO DatabaseNames SELECT 'DatabaseB' INSERT INTO DatabaseNames SELECT 'DatabaseC' Assume that DatabaseA, DatabaseB and DatabaseC are real existing databases. So let's say I need to create a new SP on those DBs. I need some script that loops over those databases and executes the T-SQL script I specify (maybe stored on a varchar variable or wherever). Any ideas? Thanks!

  • FilePageSetupHeader in MS Project VBA project: Display image dynamically

    - by Anne Schuessler
I want to display an image when printing a page from MS Page using the FilePageSetupHeader. It all works fine if I pass in the parameter for the Text property as a string as such FilePageSetupHeader Alignment:=pjRight, Text:="&P""C:\filepath\image.gif""" However, I'd prefer to be able to pass the filepath to the image to display as a variable. Somehow I can't get it right. So if I try something like the following: vImagePath = """&P""""" & prjFilePath & "\image.gif"""""" FilePageSetupHeader Alignment:=pjRight, Text:=vImagePath it just displays the path as a string. I'm pretty sure it boils down to something simple like escaping the quotes in the correct way, but I've been playing around with it for a while now and I can't seem to get it right. Any idea how this works?

  • Why does appending "" to a String save memory?

    - by hsmit
I used a variable with a lot of data in it, say String data. I wanted to use a small part of this string in the following way: this.smallpart = data.substring(12,18); After some hours of debugging (with a memory visualizer) I found out that the objects field smallpart remembered all the data from data, although it only contained the substring. When I changed the code into: this.smallpart = data.substring(12,18)+""; ..the problem was solved! Now my application uses very little memory now! How is that possible? Can anyone explain this? I think this.smallpart kept referencing towards data, but why? UPDATE: How can I clear the big String then? Will data = new String(data.substring(0,100)) do the thing?

  • Reflection and changing a variables type at runtime?

    - by james-west
Hi I'm trying to create an object Of a specific type. I've got the following code, but it fails because it can't cast the new table object to the one that is already defined. I need table to start of an IEnumerable type so I can't declare is an object. Public sub getTable(ByVal t as Type) Dim table As Table(Of Object) Dim tableType As Type = GetType(Table(Of )).MakeGenericType(t) table = FormatterServices.GetUninitializedObject(tableType) End sub So in short - is there a way of changing a variable type at runtime? (or a better way of doing what I'm doing) Thanks in advance. James

  • How do I load SciLexer.dll in Visual Studio 2008 Designer, on Windows 7 64-bit?

    - by Filini
We develop a WinForm application using Scintilla.NET (1.7) component, which uses SciLexer.dll (unamnaged). At run-time, we distribute both 32bit and 64bit SciLexer.dll, and we load the correct one when the application starts (everything works fine). On our new development environments (Windows 7 64-bit), all our solutions build and run just fine, but the WinForm visual designer does not load our forms/controls which use Scintilla.NET, because it cannot load the correct SciLexer.dll: Window class name is not valid. at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.WindowClass.RegisterClass() at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.WindowClass.Create(String className, Int32 classStyle) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.CreateHandle(CreateParams cp) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateHandle() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.get_Handle() at Scintilla.ScintillaControl.SendMessageDirect(UInt32 msg, IntPtr wParam, IntPtr lParam) at Scintilla.ScintillaControl.SendMessageDirect(UInt32 msg) at Scintilla.ScintillaControl.get_CodePage() at Scintilla.ScintillaControl..ctor(String sciLexerDllName) at Scintilla.ScintillaControl..ctor() Where does Visual Studio 2008 look for unmanaged libraries? I tried putting the 64-bit SciLexer.dll in SysWOW64, in the folder where ScintillaNET.dll is referenced, adding a folder in PATH system variable, adding a folder reference in the project, but I keep getting this error. Any help is appreciated.

  • Java Logger with Servlets

    - by Sunny
Hi Guys, I am using a wrapper class A which initializes the java.util.logger static class A { public static Logger logger; public static void init(){ logger = Logger.getLogger("test"); } Now, everywhere in my program I call A.init() and then logger.log("Message+uniqid"). But recently I moved to HTTP servlets and I am having problems. Basically, If a app is already running and the logger is logging... and someone else runs the app again, the logger from the previous instance stops and starts logging for the second one. Can anyone have a solution to how I should go about fixing this static variable issue? I can pass the logger into all constructor classes but thats really tedious. Any better solution would be appreciated..

  • Using Active Objects and BLOBs

    - by Andrew L.
I am in a group of people who are creating a Defect Tracking program as a project. We have been using Active Objects and have run into some issues. Currently maximum file size for the blob is approx. 2Mb but we want to be able to increase it up to 2Gb. We currently have been looking at many sites and have not been able to find out how to increase the size. We are currently storing the blob as an array of bytes. Our current error says, Packet for Query is too large? We don't know how to set the variable, and we don't know how to set it using AO. We are programming this in Java, too. We are wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem. Thanks for the Help.

  • CLR debugger and 'var'

    - by Ken
I'm using the CLR debugger (version 8, from "Visual Studio 2005") to debug some C# code. I can step through my code, but for many variables, the debugger won't show me its value. That is, if I type it in the "Immediate" frame or add it to the "Watch" frame, it says "Unable to evaluate the expression.". It seems to do this a lot for var variables, but I'm also seeing it for parameters and properties, too. I have not been able to figure out what the pattern is. Is there a rule for when it can display the value of a variable? Is there something I need to do to my code, or in my build script, to make the debugger able to view variables? Or is there a hidden debugger setting?

  • f# naming conventions.. WTF??!!

    - by Peter Goras
let w t f = have I missed something? do all value names in F# have to be a single char? preferably x? and do all method names have to abbreviated to a cryptic four chars?? we've had it rammed down our throats for years about descriptive variable/method names in other languages but now this doesnt apply to F#? or it is some coding 'style' bollox? Learning from code examples is hard enough with type inference. why make it harder?

  • libxml2dom and parsing

    - by Ockonal
    Hello, I have the html-content in some python-variable. Is it possible to use DOM for it? As I understand, libxml2dom is the tool for this. And about question. In my html there is div with id = 'some_needed_block'. In python-script: pageData = someHandler.read() pageDOM = libxml2dom.parseString(pageData, html=1) print pageDOM -> <libxml2dom.Document object at 0x2d160d0> block = pageDOM.getElementById('some_needed_block') print block -> <libxml2dom.Node object at 0xf5d1d0> def collect_text(node): s = "" for child_node in node.childNodes: if child_node.nodeType == child_node.TEXT_NODE: s += child_node.nodeValue else: s += collect_text(child_node) return s collect_text(block) -> for child_node in node.childNodes: -> AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'childNodes'

  • Parameters with default value not in PsBoundParameters?

    - by stej
General code Consider this code: PS> function Test { param($p='default value') $PsBoundParameters } PS> Test 'some value' Key Value --- ----- p some value PS> Test # nothing I would expect that $PsBoundParameters would contain record for $p variable on both cases. Is that correct behaviour? Question I'd like to use splatting for a lot of functions that would work like this: function SomeFuncWithManyRequiredParams { param( [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][string]$p1, [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][string]$p2, [Parameter(Mandatory=$true)][string]$p3, ...other parameters ) ... } function SimplifiedFuncWithDefaultValues { param( [Parameter(Mandatory=$false)][string]$p1='default for p1', [Parameter(Mandatory=$false)][string]$p2='default for p2', [Parameter(Mandatory=$false)][string]$p3='default for p3', ...other parameters ) SomeFuncWithManyRequiredParams @PsBoundParameters } I have more functions like this and I don't want to call SomeFuncWithManyRequiredParams with all the params enumerated: SomeFuncWithManyRequiredParams -p1 $p1 -p2 $p2 -p3 $p3 ... Is it possible?

  • Problem with WiX Votive 3.0 preprocessor

    - by Leith Bade
I have just started using WiX for the first time. I added a WiX Votive project to my existing C project. To automatically select the correct source folder for the binaries add used the following: <Directory Id="INSTALLLOCATION" Name="Trapeze Capture For Objective" FileSource="$(var.CaptureForObjective.TargetDir)"> That results in the following error: 1C:\code\CaptureForObjective\Installer\Product.wxs(10,0): error CNDL0150: Undefined preprocessor variable '$(var.CaptureForObjective.TargetDir)'. The C project is called CaptureForObjective, and the WiX project is called Installer. What do I need to do to get this to work?

  • Prevent python from printing newline

    - by wrongusername
I have this code in Python inputted = input("Enter in something: ") print("Input is {0}, including the return".format(inputted)) that outputs Enter in something: something Input is something , including the newline I am not sure what is happening; if I use variables that don't depend on user input, I do not get the newline after formatting with the variable. I suspect Python might be taking in the newline as input when I hit return. How can I make it so that the input does not include any newlines so that I may compare it to other strings/characters? (e.g. something == 'a')

  • Strange behaviour of code inside TransactionScope?

    - by Krishna
We are facing a very complex issue in our production application. We have a WCF method which creates a complex Entity in the database with all its relation. public void InsertEntity(Entity entity) { using(TransactionScope scope = new TransactionScope()) { EntityDao.Create(entity); } } EntityDao.Create(entity) method is very complex and has huge pieces of logic. During the entire process of creation it creates several child entities and also have several queries to database. During the entire WCF request of entity creation usually Connection is maintained in a ThreadStatic variable and reused by the DAOs. Although some of the queries in DAO described in step 2 uses a new connection and closes it after use. Overall we have seen that the above process behaviour is erratic. Some of the queries in the inner DAO does not even return actual data from the database? The same query when run to the actaul data store gives correct result. What can be possible reason of this behaviour?

  • Angularjs wait until

    - by Diolor
I have: $scope.bounds = {} And later in my code: $scope.$on('leafletDirectiveMap.load', function(){ console.log('runs'); Dajaxice.async.hello($scope.populate, { 'west' : $scope.bounds.southWest.lng, 'east': $scope.bounds.northEast.lng, 'north' : $scope.bounds.northEast.lat, 'south': $scope.bounds.southWest.lat, }); }); The bounds as you can see at the begging they are empty but they are loaded later (some milliseconds) with a javascript library (leaflet angular). However the $scope.$on(...) runs before the bounds have been set so the 'west' : $scope.bounds.southWest.lng, returns an error with an undefined variable. What I want to do is to wait the bounds (southWest and northEast) to have been set and then run the Dajaxice.async.hello(...). So I need something like "wait until bounds are set".

  • Decode json string returned from Flickr API using PHP, curl

    - by Globalz
Im trying to decode a json string returned from flickr within my PHP code. Im using CURL but it keeps returning a string even when I wrap json_decode() around the json sring variable. • Sorting an array of Objective-c objects

    - by davbryn
So I have a custom class Foo that has a number of members: @interface Foo : NSObject { NSString *title; BOOL taken; NSDate *dateCreated; } And in another class I have an NSMutableArray containing a list of these objects. I would very much like to sort this array based on the dateCreated property; I understand I could write my own sorter for this (iterate the array and rearrange based on the date) but I was wondering if there was a proper Objective-C way of achieving this? Some sort of sorting mechanism where I can provide the member variable to sort by would be great. In C++ I used to overload the < = operators and this allowed me to sort by object, but I have a funny feeling Objective-C might offer a nicer alternative? Many thanks

  • Problem passing ELMAH log id to Custom Error page in ASP.NET

    - by Ronnie Overby
I am using ELMAH to log unhandled exceptions in an ASP.NET Webforms application. Logging is working fine. I want to pass the ELMAH error log id to a custom error page that will give the user the ability to email an administrator about the error. I have followed the advice from this answer. Here is my global.asax code: void ErrorLog_Logged(object sender, ErrorLoggedEventArgs args) { Session[StateKeys.ElmahLogId] = args.Entry.Id; // this doesn't work either: // HttpContext.Current.Items[StateKeys.ElmahLogId] = args.Entry.Id; } But, on the Custom error page, the session variable reference and HttpContext.Current.Items are giving me a NullReference exception. How can I pass the ID to my custom error page?

  • What makes a bad programming language bad?

    - by sub
We have all seen things like the typing system of JavaScript (There is a funny post including a truth table somewhere around here). I consider this one of the main things that makes a programming language bad. Other things that spring to mind: Bad Error messages (Either obfuscated so you can't figure out whats wrong, not existing or simply too long and red) The language wasn't planned and just grew uncontrolled in all directions (PHP?) The language encourages bad programm(er/ing) habits such as: Global variables everywhere, bad variable names Inconsistent naming conventions inside the language I can't come up with any more at the moment and would be very happy to read what you think about this. What shouldn't be missing in a language created to be as bad (from the perspectives of the programmer, the company that hires to programmer, the team leader and the customer) as possible? (I ask this because I'm designing a bad, experimental language at the moment)

  • simple c# arythmetics. winForms

    - by jello
I'm doing simple divisions in c#, and I am a bit puzzled by its intricacies. Here's some code, and in the comments, the result. (btw, I only compile with 1 line not commented, if you say that I have 5 declarations of the same variable) double result = 2 / 3; //gives 0 double result = Convert.ToDouble(2) / Convert.ToDouble(3); // is good double result = double.Parse(2) / double.Parse(3); // gives me errors double result = double.Parse(2 / 3); // gives me errors double result = Convert.ToDouble(2 / 3); // gives 0 MessageBox.Show(result.ToString()); so if you have a bunch of integers you wanna mess with, you have to convert each one to a double. pretty tedious...

  • Quick question about PayPal IPN Security

    - by Alix Axel
PayPal IPN sends a POST request with a variable number of fields to the notify URL, in order to confirm that the POST request is legit we need to resubmit the same request along with a additional cmd=_notify-validate field to PayPal, which then replies SUCCESS or FAILURE. My question is, why do we need to resend the request to PayPal? Wouldn't something like this work? if (preg_match('~^(?:.+[.])?paypal[.]com$~i', gethostbyaddr($_SERVER['REQUEST_ADDR'])) > 0) { // request came from PayPal, it's legit. } Iff we can trust the server to correctly resolve IPs, I assume we can trust PayPal POST requests, no?

  • Clear all class variables between instances

    - by ensnare
This is probably a stupid question, but what's the best way to clear class variables between instances? I know I could reset each variable individually in the constructor; but is there a way to do this in bulk? Or am I doing something totally wrong that requires a different approach? Thanks for helping ... class User(): def __init__(self): #RESET ALL CLASS VARIABLES def commit(self): #Commit variables to database >>u = User() >>u.name = 'Jason' >>u.email = '[email protected]' >>u.commit() So that each time User is called the variables are fresh. Thanks.

  • How to work with session variables in php mvc pattern

    - by Richard
Hello, I just found out that I loose any reference to the session array if I create a new view and try to set a session variable in the controller. The array just comes out as empty. I actually try to use the session array to store the post vars from a multistep registration form. This was actually working when the php was spachetticode, but now that I dumpt everything in a mvc pattern, it is not functioning anymore. Can anyone explain what is going om here and possibly offer a solution om how to work with the session array? Thanks in adv, Richard
