    As the Title indicates I have some problem with delicate movement of the mouse in Ubuntu 12.10 fresh installation. The jerkiness is shown more at small and slow movements when the mouse will move a 2 millimeters to any random positions every 5 centimeters of movements. my mouse is a Microsoft Sidewinder Gaming mouse. is there any driver I can use to fix it or any configuration? this is happening both in unity or inside games and programs.

  • Boot menu doesn't show up

    I found some topics about dualbooting, but nothing was exactly what I need, so: I have Win7 and I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS from a flash drive. Everything went smoothly and I was given the "for installation to finish, need to reboot" screen. I removed the flash drive, the PC restarted. I was expecting to be greeted with the menu where I choose the OS I want to launch, but instead the Windows happily starts.

Then I selected Samsung Galaxy s5 4.4.2 on Genymotion, downloaded it succesfully either, but I've got problems in installation of APK. So I did genymotion translation 1.1 and gapps-kk, but yet my APK didn't work. When I started Genymotion appeared viber, tango, Google service, etc, but unfortunately it has stopped.

  • How to use tscon on Windows7?

    I need to run overnight automation testing using RFT and IE on Windows7 virtual machine. I found that restarting the Windows box before the testing starts helps. I am moving the production environment from Windows XP to Windows 7. RFT used to complain when running RFT scripts that CRFCN0557E: Activation failed when running under a Terminal Services environment. This may be caused by using a minimized terminal window - try playing back without minimizing the terminal window (it does not need to be full-screen). Running tscon.exe 0 /dest:console prior starting any RFT script fix the error on Windows XP. But not on Windows7. I did some research and was trying for hours to fix that but nothing helped. There is no screen saver turned on on Windows7. I tried to run both but nothing helped. tscon.exe 0 /dest:console tscon.exe 1 /dest:console On Windows7 tscon returns {ErrorPrintf(): LoadString failed, Error 15105, (0x00003B01)} Error [15105]:The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry. Error [0]:The operation completed successfully. On Windows XP tscon returns Could not connect sessionID 0 to sessionname console, Error code 7045 Error [7045]:The requested session access is denied. I just double checked that running tscon.exe 0 /dest:console on Windows XP solves the issue. Cannot understand the output of the tscon command then. Any idea how I can run RFT scripts after I restart the Windows box automatically? Preferably without involving any other computer. I was even thinking to use the old Windows XP to make remote desktop session to make RFT happy. I hope there is other better solution to that.

  • ssh + tinyproxy: poor performance

    I am currently in China and I would like to still visit some blocked websites (facebook, youtube). I have VPS in the USA and I have installed tinyproxy on it. I log in on my VPS with SSH port-forwarding and I have configured my browser appropriately. Everything works more or less: I can surf to those websites but everything is inusually slow and sometimes data transfer stops abruptly. All the software seems to be there by default on Server 2012 and my hardware meets the reqs. Copy the installation media to the local drive and try to install from that (rather than a DVD). This produced the same error. Based on another error message, I installed .NET 4.0 (which apparently is not on Server 2012 out of the box). Same error. Install from command line.     Since we rebuilt our servers to windows servers 2008 x64 r2 we have perpetual problems with scheduled backup (shadow copy). In the Application event log, the following events are logged on both nodes: The description for Event ID 4112 from source TsmVssPlugin cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: VSS processing encountered error 'VSS_E_UNEXPECTED_PROVIDER_ERROR' in the Volume Shadow Copy API 'AddToSnapshotSet'. For more information, see the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager client error log. Re installing TSM didn't change anything and still logging same events.     I'm trying to set a Domain User account as ApplicationPool Identity in IIS 8 (Windows 2012). When trying this using the IIS Management Console I always get an error: Value does not fall within the expected range. When trying to set the identity using appcmd.exe it fails on both the command setting the username and password or the command only setting the password. Setting the username is no problem.   • Adaptec 6405 RAID controller turned on red LED

    I have a server with an Adaptec 6405 RAID controller and 4 disks in a RAID 5 configuration. Staff in the data center called me because they noticed a red LED was turned on in one of the drive bays. I have then checked the status using 'arcconf getconfig 1' and I got the status message 'Logical devices/Failed/Degraded: 2/0/1'. The status of the logical devices was listed as 'Rebuilding'. However, I did not get any suspicious status of the affected physical device, the S.M.A.R.T. setting was 'no', the S.M.A.R.T. warnings were '0' and also 'arcconf getsmartstatus 1' returned no problems with any of the disk drives. The 'arcconf getlogs 1 events tabular' command gives lots of output (sorry, can't paste the log file here as I only have remote console access, I could post a screenshot though). Everything is back to normal, the controller status is now 'Logical devices/Failed/Degraded: 2/0/0', the logical devices are also all back to 'Optimal'. I was not able to check the LED status, my guess is that the red LED is off again. Now I have a lot of questions: what is a possible cause for the medium error, why it is not reported by the SMART log too? Should I replace the disk drives? They were purchased just a month ago. The rebuilding process took one or two days, is that normal? The disks are 2 TByte each and the storage system is mostly idling. the timestamp of the logs seem to show the moment of the log retrieval, not the moment of the incident. Please advise, all help is very appreciated.

I had this setup running some time ago with a different e-mail generator but pretty much the same template, and I can't figure out why it's not working. The permissions seem to be OK too. In order to further debug this issue, I need some logfiles. Are there any logfiles written by this command? Or are there any other suggestions to solve this issue?     I'm trying to image a SATA laptop hard drive, using DriveImageXML, that is attached to my computer via a USB adapter. I'm running Win7 Ultimate 64 bit. DriveXML is returning: Could not initialize Windows Volume Shadow Service (VSS). ERROR C:\Program Files (x86)\Runtime Software\Drivelmage XML\vss64.exe failed to start. ERROR TIMEOUT Make sure VSSVC.EXE is running in your task manager. Click Help for more information. VSSVC.EXE is running in Task Manager, as is VSS64.exe. Looking at the FAQ on the Runtime webpage this turned up: Please verify in Settings-Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Services that the following services are enabled: MS Software Shadow Copy Provider Volume Shadow Copy Also make sure you are able to stop and start these services. Possible reasons for VSS failures: For VSS to work, at least one volume in your computer must be NTFS. If you use only FAT drives, VSS will not function. The required NTFS volume does not need to be identical with the volume you want to image. You should make sure that VSSVC.EXE is running in your task manager. If the problems persist, registering "oleaut.dll" and "oleaut32.dll" using "regsvr32" might help. Both of those services are running and can be started and stopped without issue. Using "regsvr32" to register ""oleaut32.dll" returns successful, but "oleaut.dll" returns: The module "oleaut.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files. The specified module could not be found. Some other information that might be relevant. Browsing to the drive is successful, but accessing certain folders returns an "access" error. Windows runs a permissions adder that adds the current user profile to the NFTS permissions. Could this be the cause of the issue? DriveImage XML is running as Administrator. Thoughts?

    I have an external SMTP provider: auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk I am trying to send SQL Server Reporting Services emails via this on an Windows 2012 Azure VM. It is configured sufficiently correctly for emails to be generated, but I've not configured something or mis-configured something as the emails then stay in the queue. Setup details Configured SMTP Virtual Server General: IP Address: Fixed value Access: Access Control: Authentication: ticked Anonymous access Access: Connection Control: All except the list below (which is empty) Access: relay restrictions: Only the list below (which contains 127.0.0.1), ticked 'allow all..' option Delivery: Outbound Security...:Basic Authentication with username and password completed, ticked TLS encryption Delivery: Outbound connections...:TCP port=587 Delivery: Advanced: FQDN=ServerName, smarthost=auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk I then set the following SSRS rsreportserver.config values: <SMTPServer>100.92.192.3</SMTPServer> <SendUsing>2</SendUsing> <SMTPServerPickupDirectory> c:\inetpub\mailroot\pickup </SMTPServerPickupDirectory> <From>[email protected]</From> Tried so far 1) turning the smtp service off and on again (just in case) 2) run SMTPDiag with no errors (also no emails) 3) tried turning off the firewall for the ports (and more generally to see if it made a difference) 4) tried generation from powershell which resulted with message in queue 5) added 25 and 857 as endpoint 6) perused the event log and found some warnings that appear to be about the recipient Message delivery to the remote domain 'gmail.com' failed for the following reason: Unable to bind to the destination server in DNS. Message delivery to the host '212.227.15.179' failed while delivering to the remote domain 'gmail.com' for the following reason: The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt. 7) tried pinging but this appears to be blocked on azure 8) tried more powershell sending on different domains variants (localhost, boxname, internal ip used in smtp properties, 127.0.0.1) - none resulting in success 9) tried adding a remote domain - no change Could anyone recommend what step 10 should be in fixing this issue please?

  • "Dictionary problem." Error with VMPlayer

    I'm pretty new to using vmware virtualization (been a virtualbox user) so I'm hoping you guys can help me out. I recently got an external usb disk containing a vm for a client, downloaded vmplayer, set it up with "Open a Virtual Machine", ran it, easy as pie. After working with it a bit this morning, I shut the VM down and now trying to start it back up again I get this: I tried removing the vm from my library, now it happens whenever I try to add it back in. In the meantime, I can still access other virtual machines so it seems like the problem might be with the virtual disk. So two questions: This is obviously not a very helpful error message. Where can I go to get more information? My Application EventLog doesn't contain anything from VMWare. What steps can I take to fix the problem? Edit: A couple more pieces of information. I did not take any snapshots. I don't think VM Player even has that ability. I have a zip file of (what I assume) is the state of the VM when it was sent to me. I cannot unzip it as it is huge and simply requires more HD space than I have available but I did extract the vmx file and examine it. Other than the UUIDs and the fact that mine reads cleanShutdown = "FALSE" they are identical.     I have a Windows Server 2003 (R2 Enterprise with SP2) VM, originally installed with a trial license. We forgot about the server, and now more than 120 days has passed, and I can't do anything with the server. I seem to be at a dead end with the existing installation. When I log in, I get: The evaluation period for this copy of Windows has ended. Windows cannot start. To continue using Windows, please purchase and install a retail copy of the product. Fine. I'll do that with my MSDN media. I should add that safe mode works, but there isn't anything obvious that I found to help me there Next up, I tried repairing my installation: Boot from Server 2003 R2 Enterprise with SP2 media, tell it I want to install (as opposed to recovery console), then let it repair the existing install. Once that completes and reboots I log in: This copy of Windows must be activated with Microsoft before you can continue. You cannot log on until you activate Windows. Do you want to activate Windows now? To shut down the computer, click Cancel. Great! I click "Yes" and am left with a big blue screen. Not a blue screen of death, just a blue screen (i.e. the default windows desktop background color). No Ctrl+Alt+Del. All I can do is power cycle. I have some complex third-party software on there that I can't reinstall, which is why I haven't already built a fresh Windows VM and copied everything over. I have a backup of the VM from after trial period expired but before I installed anything. Ideas?

I'm running into problems and am trying to sort out the parameters that need to be passed to the Commvault media agent to get this to work. Unfortunately, I do not have access to Commvault support and the backup person is unavailable. Any one have a clue? The backups are there and the media agent reported a successful write when they ran last night.
