• Can I sell video and music in iPhone app via in-app purchase

  Hi, I'm going to sell some video and music (which I have right to use and sell) in iPhone app. But I'm not sure whether this is allowed by Apple. The plan is to create a consumable in-app purchase product and ask user to pay it when visit the individual video page. After successful purchase, user can download or view it online without any limitation. Server side will also remember the purchase status so the user won't be asked to pay when he visit this vide page next time. So, does anyone have experience on this kind of business and give me some suggestions? Thanks a lot!

  I'm a graphic designer, with experience in print design. In fact, I'm working on digital prepress since 4 years ago. I'm doing a course on web design right now, although I have been studying it on my own for a while, online. So, my question is, what kind of server-side language do I need to learn? I'm feel comfortable with HTML, CSS, and Javascript, even with preprocessors like SASS and LESS, but server-side scripting becomes a nightmare to me. So, what kind of language is necessary to learn? • Autoplaynig video/image gallery - with a catch

  Looking for a (jQuery) video/image gallery to implement on my website, I've found many freely available option. However, I need one that, when in "autoplay" mode and gets to a video file, automatically plays an entire file, and only then moves on to the next image/video. Similar to what Picasaweb are doing when you ask to autoplay an online gallery of your images/videos. I have found, for example, this plugin: http://www.yoxigen.com/yoxview/. Notice that images 6 & 8 are actually video feeds, but when in autoplay mode, are treated just like any other image, i.e. - displayed for a few seconds then moves on to the next file... not what I need. • How to Best Setup a Website Project in VS.NET

  I have very little experience with setting up a website from scratch in a .NET environment. As I am doing this now, I am wondering - what's the best way to go? Is it better to create a new Website Project, and include the various backend services and database code as part of that project, or is it better to split out the various aspects of the project? If the second, how would I go about doing that? I want to ensure that this project is easy to manage in the future (in terms of source control, deployment, etc), so I want to make sure I'm starting off on the right foot. I was unable to find any tutorials online, but if you have any, I would appreciate those as well. Thanks!

• [ASP.NET MVC] Problem with View - it does not refresh after db update

  Hi, I am working with small ASP.NET MVC project - online store. I have addToCart method which adds selected product to cart - it updates cart table in my db and showing cart view with its content. But I have problems. while db is updating correctly the view does not. I see that quantity of the product in my db is incremented correctly but quantity in view is not changed. I have to stop debugging my app in visual studia and restart it - then my view is showing correct data. What can be wrong?

• Run command with no terminal output

  Hello, I've searched around online, but can't find the answer to my question. What I want to do is run a command in pythong, using the subprocess module, and store the output in a variable. However, I do not want the command's output to be printed to the terminal. For this code: def storels(): a = subprocess.Popen("ls",shell=True) storels() I get the directory listing in the terminal, instead of having it stored in a. I've also tried def storels(): subprocess.Popen("ls > tmp",shell=True) a = open("./tmp") [Rest of Code] storels() This also prints the output of ls to my terminal. I've even tried this command with the somewhat dated os.system method, since running "ls tmp" in the terminal doesn't print ls to the terminal at all, but stores it in tmp. However, the same thing happens. I'm using python 2.6. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

  I'm making an online quiz with php and mysql and need a bit of help deciding how to design the database for optimal insert of questions/answers and to select questions for the quiz. The table will hold 80 questions each with 4 possible options plus the correct answer. When retrieving the questions and options from the database I will randomly select 25 questions and their options. Is it better to make a single column for all questions, options, and correct answers? For example: ID | Q | OPT1 | OPT2 | OPT3 | OPT4 | ANS Or would it be better to make a column for each individual question, option, and correct answer? • Different characters take more/less data?

  I am working on a personal project and I'm wondering if certain characters take up more data in a text file than others. I need to choose a character to seperate items in my file, but if a 0 uses less bytes than a ! or something, it would be best to do that. I know all characters have an ASCII value, but would a lower ASCII value mean the character can be stored in fewer bytes? This might be an incredibly stupid question, but I don't see any information on the topic online so I came here to check. Thanks!

• RSpec "undefined local variable or method `user'"

  I have the following test written in RSpec: describe '#create' do ... it 'redirects users to profile page' do response.should redirect_to user_path(user) end ... ... And the following in my UsersController: def create @user = User.new(params[:user]) if @user.save redirect_to user_path(@user) end end Does anyone know why this is returning the following error: NameError: undefined local variable or method 'user' I also tried changing this to be root_url in both cases instead of user_path(user) and it gave a different error saying: Expected response to be a <:redirect>, but was <200> Does anyone know what the issue might be? I have double-checked my code and have seen similar questions posted online, but haven't been able to find a solution. Thanks in advance for any help!

  Why when you buy a online store system that's advertised as Easy for you to manage and allows to change and tweak the look of store pages with unseen ease is it exactly the opposite? When you're offered six months free support do you never get an answer and finally when you make layout changes to one page, does a completely unrelated business logic completely break down? So really two questions: Why do authors of such systems put them up for sale before they're completed? How to exact revenge on said author? Thanks.

• Fancybox2 Inline Content Gallery

  I am trying to create a gallery of inline content with Fancybox 2, and am failing miserably. I checked out some other resources online and they seem to indicate doing this relatively easily, yet, I cannot seem to get it to work.   I am trying to create a new Notice Alert using PHP and Javascript. Suppose that a 100 users are currently logged into to the Online Notice Board Application and any One user posts a new notice. I want an immediate alert signal on all the users screen. I know, that the simplest way of doing it is to constantly Ping the server but I don't want to do it as it will slow down the server. Moreover, I am on a shared host. So I don't have access to any Socket Port. That means, I cannot establish any direct Socket Communication Channel from the Server to the User Machine. Can any one suggest me some other solution to this kind of problems???

  I wrote a program in C++/OpenGL (using Dev-C++ compiler) for my calculus 2 class. The teacher liked the program and he requested me to somehow put it online so that instead of downloading the .exe file and run it the web browser will run it automatically just like a java applet. The question is: How if possible, can I display a C++/OpenGL program in a web browser? I am thinking of moving to JOGL which is a java interpretation of OpenGL but I rather stay in C++ since I am more familiar with it. Also is there any other better and easier 3D web base API that I can consider?

• Cocoa (Touch) for Swing Developers #1: Where Are the Layouts?

  My iPhone SDK and Objective-C learning is moving ahead quickly, thanks to several great books and online help (including this one). But I do have some basic questions due to what I already know that will be answered eventually, but I'd rather get a heads-up now if possible :) Are there equivalents for LayoutManagers in Cocoa Touch? Are they used, or is absolute positioning used instead? I have seen some of the layout stuff in IB, but I'm not sure what to look at in code. Aside from using the IB, are UIControls added directly to UIView instances using the addSubview (like add in Swing)? These are just two concrete questions that I've thought of just now, but I would love to see any translation of Swing concepts to Cocoa Touch.

  Hi I'm a techie with no programing experience. I know html and css, but I'd like to someday be able to make an app for my phone (I have an android) and possibly mobile websites. I made learning a programing language and creating a mobile app a goal for my job, and now my boss would like me to pick a programing language to learn. I found a free open course from MIT (http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-00-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-fall-2008/) called introduction to computer science. In the course they teach python, but more importantly it seems they teach how to think like a programmer. When I told my boss about the free online course she didn't think that Python was an appropriate language for me to learn. She'd like me to learn a language that is more similar to one used to make Phone apps. Does anyone out there know a better language for me to pick up that would be similar to Android or iPhone's App language. Thank you

  I need to convert a date and time into a timestamp with php. The following code shows what I'm currently using: <?php $date="2012-06-29 10:50"; $timestamp = strtotime($date); echo $timestamp; ?> However, when I test the timestamp in an online convertor (http://www.epochconverter.com), the resulting date is 29th June 2012, 8:50, or 2 hours previous. Is it possible that the strtotime() function isn't completely accurate and is just an estimate of the time? If so, are there better methods I could use for getting the exact time? Thanks.

• how to detect an F5 refresh keypress event in jquery?

  I noticed that jquery has a keypress function. But it seems that it can only detect keypress event of numbers and characters. It cannot detect the F5 keypress event. And What surprises me the most is everyone online says that the keyCode of F5 is 116, But when I use the jquery keypress function, it just shows that the character t has the keyCode of 116(it seems that 116 is the ascii code of lowercase t)! Can somebody give me any idea about this and how to detect the F5 event in javascript or jquery? Thanks so much in advance.

• .NET (C#): Getting child windows when you only have a process handle or PID?

  Kind of a special case problem: I start a process with System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(..) The process opens a splash screen -- this splash screen becomes the main window. The splash screen closes and the 'real' UI is shown. The main window (splash screen) is now invalid. I still have the Process object, and I can query its handle, module, etc. But the main window handle is now invalid. I need to get the process's UI (or UI handle) at this point. Assume I cannot change the behavior of the process to make this any easier (or saner). I have looked around online but I'll admit I didn't look for more than an hour. Seemed like it should be somewhat trivial :-( Thanks

• Have all internal links in drupal leave out subdirectory where docroot resides

  I've successfully followed some instructions online to get our plain url to direct to the content found in a subfolder (drupaldev) so that when you enter any url for that site even without the subdirectory name, it serves the correct page. However, I cannot figure out how to remove the internal links on the site that reference the '/drupaldev/' subdirectory. This is what my .htaccess file includes: RewriteRule ^$ drupaldev/index.php [L] RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/drupaldev%{REQUEST_URI} -f RewriteRule .* drupaldev/$0 [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule .* drupaldev/index.php?q=$0 [QSA] And this is what my settings.php file contains: $base_url = 'http://www.bluewaterfederal.com'; As you can see, if you mouse over any of the links within the site, they all mention drupaldev, but if you take that same url and remove the "drupaldev" from it, it works fine...

• Delete rows out of table that is innerjoined and unioned with 2 others

  We have 3 tables (table1, table2, table3), and I need to delete all the rows from table1 that have the same ID in table2 OR table3. To see a list of all of these rows I have this code: ( select table2.ID, table2.name_first, table2.name_last, table2.Collected from table2 inner join table1 on table1.ID = table2.ID where table2.Collected = 'Y' ) union ( select table3.ID, table3.name_first, table3.name_last, table3.Collected from table3 inner join table1 on table1.ID = table3.ID where table3.Collected = 'Y' ) I get back about 200 rows. How do I delete them from table1? I don't have a way to test if my query will work, so I'm nervous about modifying something I found online and potentially deleting data (we do have backups, but I'd rather not test out their integrity). TIA!
